Wednesday, their roster scenarios won't be affected largely by
whether certain players will be physically ready by Opening Day.

recovered from major surgery in July 2010 that sidelined him for
10 months and still caused him bouts of arm fatigue.

playing time against left-handed pitchers, said last month he is
fully recovered from a fractured right wrist that sidelined him
for the final three weeks of the 2011 season.

the quality defense he displayed last year at Charlotte.

       > Chicago White Sox center fielder Alex Rios has the look of a
five-tool baseball player. He has the contract to match.

underperformed their way to a third-place finish in 2011. Nary a

       Rios' contract.
       >
       > After his solid 2010 season, expectations were for a similar
performance from Rios in the middle of a potent South Side

some envisioned, only Paul Konerko (and to a lesser extent the
recently departed Carlos Quentin) actually delivered the goods
       at the plate.

I'm skeptical that 15 lbs will lower his strikeout rate.

Sox players all out with "All-In'' slogan
By Mark Gonzales - Tribune reporter - 2:41 p.m. CST, February
       22, 2012
GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Chicago White Sox's 2012 slogan is
"Appreciate the Game," which will be gladly received by the
players after last year's "All-In'' theme that collapsed during
       an 83-loss season.
"The All-In thing got abused last year," reliever Matt Thornton
said. "I’m glad that one is over with, and it didn’t work out
well, anyway. It’s one of those things I can’t wait to get out
on the field and start playing games.
"We have a lot of guys itching to get out there, and some young
guys itching to go out and prove what they can do and make this
team and prove they’re ready to go somewhere during the season.
There's a good mix of things out here.”

Sox can learn from Arizona in bouncing back
By Mark Gonzales - Tribune reporter - 11:39 a.m. CST, February
       22, 2012
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The White Sox are counting on rebound
seasons from Adam Dunn, Alex Rios and Gordon Beckham in their
quest to challenge for the American League Central title despite
       slim odds.
They’re also hoping that former Sox great Robin Ventura can lead
the team as well as he performed for the Sox during most of his
exceptional 16-year career in the same manner Kirk Gibson did
       last season with Arizona.
In fact, the situations are somewhat similar. The Sox haven’t
advanced to the post-season since 2008. The Diamondbacks,
meanwhile, overcame two last-place finishes in the National
League West to make a 29-game improvement and overtake defending
       World Series champion San Francisco.
