Hey guys. Here is the info on our first pick. Baseball
America's 92nd Ranked Prospect
Keenyn Walker, of Central Arizona JC
Walker was drafted in the 16th round out of high school in Utah
in 2009 and last year at Central Arizona, in the 38th round.
Scouts have always been intrigued by the 6-foot-3 switch-hitter
with standout tools and impressive athleticism. The raw tools
don't always translate on the baseball field, however, and he
didn't even start regularly last year. This year is a different
story. Walker has performed well with wood and he should get
more than the $250,000 he reportedly turned down out of high
school. Walker has more power from the right side, but his
lefthanded swing is more pure. He's mostly a gap hitter with
above-average speed, so he profiles as a good defensive center
fielder. He has the speed to hit at the top of the order, but
needs to cut down on his strikeouts. If he doesn't sign, Walker
will head to Utah.
Also Brian Goodwin (our unsigned 16th round pick from 2009) went
#34 overall.

Sounds like we are continually searching for a CFer. How many
drafts in a row does this make?

In the first round, you mean?
It's the first since Mitchell in '09, who was the first since
Brian N. Anderson in '03.

We also picked Jordan Danks in '08 (5th round?) and Trayce
Thompson in '09 (2nd)

And the question you have to ask yourself is which one of all of
those guys mentioned has made it to the big team and played like
the player we drafted? If they were we wouldnt continue to keep
searching.

You could say that about any player, really.
I do think that we should be trotting out Lil'Beast in CF every
day, moving Rios to one of the corners.

Rios played RF in Toronto. I dont have a problem with that. That
would correct the defensive liability in RF. ;D ;D ;D

Figured you'd take it there....
I'd like to bench Pierre, shift Quentin to LF, and move Rios to
RF.
...but let's not cloud MSF's thread with any more "old guy"
talk....

Unfortunately, Pierre is a better player than Rios right now.
"Tallest Midget", if you will.
Rios is nothing but a pinch runner / late game defensive
replacement.
