Bury a Brother

Sonic soon arrived to see his home in splinters tattered remains
of his possessions. He pulled the large planks of wood out of
the way even using a high speed spin to cut through the heavy
rocks until he got to Tail's room. The room was empty and his
little brother was nowhere to be seen. Sonic now had hope maybe
he wasn't squashed. but as he looked to the heavens his hope
shattered into countless shards of glass digging into his only
recently mended heart. As he looked up what he saw on the bottom
of the beasts foot then slamming down scarred him. With that
Sonic fell to his knees and hung his head. All was lost his
little brother and best friend, the only person who looked up to
him was gone. "I...let him down." He said before falling to the
floor eyes wide yet lifeless. "I...let him down." His will to
fight was gone was he begun drowning in depression and delved
into muddy madness. Sonic's mind wasn't able to comprehend the
traumatic sight of what had happened.

She went to find out where that humongous Metal dragon came
from...
What she did find was that it crashed into a building.
It never occurred to her that building was where Sonic and Tails
stayed.
When she arrived to the building, she was among ambulances fire
fighters trying to help those out of the area.
At least.... so the Dragon doesn't go postal on them
"Oh my Stars..." She muttered, quickly using her metal arms and
legs to lift debris and help others out.
When she saw the blue blur speed onto the scene, when she
managed to the same floor and asked, "...S..sugarhog? Are ya
alright?" She asked.
Looking around then saw the foot...
And some particular hue of orange fur.
She gasped, but carefully walked over to sonic, and carefully
hugged him.
She wasn't sure what she could say....

Sonic couldn't come to terms with what had just happened. He lay
limp in Bunnie's arms. "He was my little brother............my
little buddy. He looked up to me I let him down. Bunnie.....
Whats the point of all this power if I can't use it to help
those closest to me." It wasn't long before Sonic's brain
started a coping mechanism. He looked to his friend and asked
tears in his eyes. "Tails he's just sleeping right? He'll wake
up soon......"

All she could do was try and comfort him.
She was trembling herself, tears welling up as she rubbed his
back.
"Y...yeah, Sugarhog.. Just sleeping~" she cooed, as warm of a
smile as she could muster as she blinked her own tears away.
"Everythin' will be just fine! Just you wait!"

Sonic stood looking up once more he gave a gentle hug to Bunnie
before gently pushing her aside. His voice was full of sorrow
but something deeper it had a sense of longing. "I won't scatter
your soul to that heartless machine.......I will always be with
you." He took a deep breath sounding as if he was about to fall
apart each breath more rapid than the last. "Bunnie I can't fly
like you can. Please bring Tails back to me......DAMN IT GIVE ME
MY BROTHER......He at least deserves a proper send of...." Sonic
fell again closing his eyes and his fingers into a fist. As he
lets out guttural screams from his soul until he sends himself
into a coughing fit that causes him to loose his voice.

Her ears lowered, As she was pushed back, just LISTENING to
Sonic sounding like this...
"I... I'll try mah best, S...sugarhog..." She whispered, taking
a few steps forward, "That little sweetheart deserves everythin'
and more. But we gotta... well we gotta take care of that big
ol' dragon don't we?"
Bunnie had to be cautious. Sonic's never been like this!
She walked forward again, and cautiously patted him on the back
and began to rub it, "J..just calm down... Ok, Sugarhog? Can you
look at me?" She whispered, "I need ya to look at me and tell me
right away that you're fine. That Tails' is fine too, Ok? Can
you do that for me please?" She held out her Organic hand, to
squeeze his dirty glove.

"No Bunnie I'm not fine........I don't think I ever will be
again. Tails is dead....As for this....monstrosity I couldn't
care less. Let it stomp around let them fight it. I have to bury
my family. Now please....bring him back to me."

She frowned a little a she bit her bottom lip, then made sure
her voice was a bit more firm,
"Look. At. Me." She instructed again.
"I'm not gonna let any of this get to, ya, Sugarhog. Tell me
you're Fine. That always helps me when I'm not at my best
either." She squeezed his hand, "...Tails wouldn't wanna hear
his big brother not wanna help others... I mean.. What kinda Guy
who loves being a freedom fighter would give up easily? Not His
Sonic! That's who!"
She nodded then repeated herself, "I want you to tell me, as
loud as you can... I wanna hear you tell me, 'Ah'm Sonic the
Hedgehog and I'm FINE!' Do ya hear me!?"

Sonic shook his head and simply looked down as Bunnie squeezed
his hand he held his limp. "I'm tired Bunnie....a weary body is
one thing but a broken spirit.....I've won a few battles yes
saved some people but in the grand scheme of things what have I
really accomplished. I let Tails down......He was my friend more
than a friend he was my little brother. If I'd had reacted
sooner....he'd still be here. Sooner or later I'll go down it
might be Robotnik an android or some other super villain. My
decision no regrets. But I can't let anybody else pay for my
mistakes. How long until I let somebody else I care about down?
Uncle Chuck....Sapphire...Karahl...Sapphire...Flavie...You." He
said turning to finally face Bunnie.His voice deeper filled with
hurt. "How much good have I really accomplished? They sell T
shirts of me I've become a cliche. Instead of inspiring others
to do right I've become a tourist attraction and have fans who
dress up and claim to be better than I am. Maybe it's time to
hang up my shoes before anyone else gets hurt. Venus was
right.....the world doesn't need heroes...They say Mother knows
best anyway." He took his hand from hers and walked away resting
his head on the damage wall. As the dragon left with Tails
remains Sonic wanted to blame Bunnie but he didn't have the
heart that Southern Bell like all his friends held a deep place
in his heart.

Her ears lowered again, slowly standing up and carefully walks
towards him.
"This wasn't your Mistake, Sugarhog... Ya know Robotnik is the
kinda guy who would kick a newborn puppy just because he thought
it was funny! He's just a twisted thing!" She swallowed as he
spoke so ill about himself.
"Look I dunno WHO this Venus is, Hun... But if the world doesn't
need Heroes then what were you to Tails?" She remarked, "You
ain't a tourist attraction, but you sure are a Showman! I can't
say for others, but seeing you put a stop to any horrid thing
that comes your way is inspiring. I always wanna do more! I
mean... I did come back to visit you~ "
She stared right back at him, "Listen to me for a sec, will ya?
You've accomplished so much. Not just for others or all of
Mobius... but yourself too. You ain't a sell out. And if you
keep listening to that weird ol' bot with the bad boob job then
I'll have to wrestle some sense into you ok?" She gave a
reassuring smile as she leaned down and tilted her head, to see
his face.
