Retrieval and Remanence: Mobotropolis Streetways

"Find him! I will NOT allow that Bas'tard to run with his tail
between his legs!" The Prince roared out.
"Find any of his golems and take them apart! We may have won but
we are far from having the Kingdom back to us!"
"Yessir!" One of the Guardsmen responded. "We'll alert you by
that communicator on your epaulette." The Guardsmen seemed a
little older, a white hedgehog with blue eyes and a bit of a
white beard. He wore a pair of glasses, and seemed a bit robust.
"No need to respond to it, but..." He walked over, cautiously
readjusting the device on his shoulder as he stepped back,
"There. A special channel that is specific for Robotnik's
attacks on the City."
Forte looked him over, and squinted. "Verily. Gratitude." He
remarked, surprised that anyone in the guard would realize he
still lacked understanding how it works.
The Hedgehog gave a half smile and nodded, "Don't worry about
using it for now, Perhaps when this is over... We can have
training for that, M'lord." He then did something rather... odd
as he leaned in and whispered, "Knowing a bit about our times
will really help to gain familiarity with the other troops, Sir.
I can assure you on that. Your era and ours is only different by
a few hairs, you know..."
Forte's eyes widened as he glanced him over. The Guardsmen's
mannerisms seemed... rather familiar to him, as he frowned and
nodded slowly.
"Now go! This is for our Crown, Our Queen, Our Mobius to put
that Hairless Swine to Justice!"
Most of the Royal guard went about the city in threes, doing a
large sweep all over.
This was the least he could to to insure that he was doing a
Just job for his title.
And the most he could to insure that Constance was safe.
He finally landed, looking about as he saw just how destructive
those metal golems were.
He looked around, and any one of those machines he befell.. he
swiftly took them out with the sharp blade of the Tapasya.
After a while, the thrill of the fight was waning, full rational
thoughts returning, as well the slight numbing pain around his
bandaged chest under his Royal Guard Uniform jacket.
He sheathed the blade, a slight scowl as he grumbled, "You'd
think after I have been stabbed more than enough times... I
would be inclined to wear more chest armor..." He remarked.
He wasn't sure if he had lost his chance to capture Robotnik...
The Lord High Commander wasn't exactly fond of Magic that caused
one to simply vanish...
And to think that self entitled swine assumed to use such a
thing only got him angrier.

Sapphire zoomed around Mobotropolis city, and was now in higher
moods after visiting that pet store in the less populated area
of the city.
Although she didn't like pet stores she was glad she risked
popping into that one, playing with the animals had really
helped to get her mind off of things and cool off.
But now she was back to looking around, she couldn't keep
playing in the store forever, she had friends she needed to find
and make sure they where all alright.
She sped up a little, enjoying the feeling of the wind against
her face. She closed her eyes. And of course, bumped into
somebody. She really needed to work on this bumping into people
thing, She was far too small to knock over the Dragon Prince but
she easy fell over upon impact, landing on her back, she
flinched, expecting that somebody that she'd bumped into to be
the leopard meanie from earlier, and to be yelled at any second.
But when she opened her eyes to look at who she'd bumped into
she was met with the sight of a dragon. She pushed herself back
up, onto her feet, and dusted herself off, she knew this dragon
too, she'd seen him a few times before, but she unfortunately
had never gotten the chance to really talk to him. He was
usually arguing with Sonic whenever she saw him. And they called
each other a lot of names, but she was pretty sure she
remembered correctly that his name was Forte
"Oh! Forte! I'm super sorry for bumping into you! I didn't hurt
you at all did I?" She asked, looking up at Forte, noticing the
bandages around his chest, her eyes widened and she started to
feel a little panicked as well as worried and guilty, she hoped
to chaos she hadn't bumped into him on that spot, that would
really hurt!

He grunted he felt something run into hum... well not as hard as
he would assume.
It only caused him to step back a few steps as an irratated
snarl came from his maw.
The princed stopped the ever so not so nice snarling as he
looked down, to the little Azure hedgehog and tilted his head.
..She looked familiar...
"Nay... I am uninjured, Miss." He remarked, "Preytell why are
you about this area...?" He asked, assuming most mobians
would've hid or fled.
"I am looking for the swine called Robotnik... "
As he was announcing his purpose, his recollections of whom she
was was resurfacing.
She was the one who always followed behind that accursed Knave,
Sonic the Hedgehog.
..She also seemed to know Karahl, and was about their sanctuary.
And if memory serves she was about when he had slain the
overworlder the first time.
"Have you seen him?"

His snarl made her fur stand on end, and ears lower, but he
seemed to stop as soon as he looked at her.
She sighed softly with relief when he stated he was unharmed,
and smiled slightly at being called 'Miss'
She hadn't yet told him her name had she? That had to change,
she knew his name.
Sapphire took one of Forte's hands in both of hers and shook it
up and down enthusiastically, "Miss? Heh, My names Sapphire~ But
some of my friends just call me Sapph... Or Sapphy" she trailed
off and let go of his hand, putting her hands behind her back,
"You can call me whichever you want" she said softly, looking
down at her boots.
She then remained quiet to let him finish his comments and
questions. 'Nay', 'Preytell' she didn't think she'd ever heard
anyone else say those words before, she shook her head slightly,
she had questions she had to answer.
"Oh, I was just on a run, looking around for someone, when I
lost track of where I was going and bumped into you" she said,
shuffling her feet, as she glanced up at the Dragon Prince.
Her ears perked up at him saying he was looking for Robotnik,
"Last time I saw him was at his lair, which was a little while
ago.." She chewed her lower lip at the thought of the evil
doctor, she was hoping she could forget those red eyes, but she
didn't seem to be anytime soon, "he left while me and some
others where getting out, I don't know where he headed though,
and I haven't seen him since then, sorry I'm not much help" she
added, her ears lowering again. "I've just been trying to find
Sonic and some of my friends, Sonic wasn't in good shape last I
saw him, and I just wanna know if he's ok... But I can help you
with finding Robotnik if you want?" She said, a small smile
appearing as she looked up at Forte again. She knew he might not
accept, she's had many people say no, and set her aside, out of
harms way, but that wasn't going to stop her from asking anyway.

"...Sapphire will be Fine." He remarked, for a moment he seemed
confused on the hand shaking, but remembered this was a form of
greeting. As she kept shaking his hand he stopped, stepped back
and had his fist to his heart, and bowed in greeting, "I have
stated my name.. mere Lunar Cycles ago, however it is an Honor
that you would remember it."
Forte watched her, "Lair?? So you have... literally ran into
him?!" He seemed to be fishing for anything.
He listened to her ordeal, then shook his head, "...Your words..
are more than enough help, Gratitude." He began, "Though I know
not where that Boasting Cur that the lot of you seem to enjoy so
much... I would've expected him to interrupt me taking out his
metal golems and preach about me not to kill him..."
He started to growl a bit again, as he shook his head.
He knew how much this one seemed to Sonic.
..Which was a bother, Karahl was the same. He still could not
understand why.
When she asked to help him however, his first instinct was to
tell her No.
...But that confrontation from days ago... and the fact that
those he trust, and those he knew told him he should be more
open for help...
He chewed on his lip, as he grumbled, "...I... would need as
much aid as possible."
He breathed deeply, "His metal army may have been defeated...
but he simply vanished before I could make another final blow."
Good... this was he was supposed to do right?
"...Are you able to defend yourself... if I cannot...?" he
asked.

She smiled and couldn't help but to let out a soft giggle at his
bow, she wasn't expecting that! Come to think of it, she hadn't
ever really had anyone bow to her before, She was a bit confused
though, was she suppose to bow back now or not? She decided to
give a small bow back, just to be on the safe side.
She tilted her head slightly, and opened her mouth to ask what a
'Lunar cycle' was, but then chose not to ask, maybe she could
ask Sonic later or something? He'd know what it is...right?
Sapphire nodded, "yep, well, it's more he ran into me, and tried
to turn me into a robot at his lair, but I escaped, and here I
am, not a robot, still squishy, blue and spiky like I'm suppose
to be" she said, rather proudly. Boy was she glad she had
actually managed to escape Robotnik's scary robotosizer, she
hoped she would never be in it ever again. She'd already ended
up in two situations in which she was almost robotosized now,
since she'd came here.
She added 'Boasting Cur' to the list of things to ask Sonic
about later, in her mind.
Sapphire smiled and stared up at the Dragon, she really was
waiting for and excepting a 'No' but it never came, he instead
said he would need as much aid as possible. That wasn't a no!
At his last question, she smiled happily, glad she was being
allowed to help, and clicked her fingers, her Piko Hammer
appearing in her hands, she held it tightly, "Yep!~" she said in
response to his last question, just in case the hammer want
enough of an answer.

A slight smile came from his muzzle as she bowed back, However
he seemed confused at the term.
"Robot....?"
He genuinely seemed perplexed at the term. But he did remember
the bot, quite well...
Robotnik...
Robot....?
He scowled in his thoughts, "This era's terms will never cease
to vex me..." He glanced back over to Sapphire as she had her
hammer at the read, "Ah, a Mallet. A very well made Mallet I may
add!" He nodded, as he took to walking down the streets, as he
fell silent for a few moments, then asked,
"...What exactly... Is a Robot? I have heard this term.. And to
turn one into a Robot...? I have had the swine himself give such
threatened slights."
The hand on the hilt of his sword was shaking.
Even if he DID save Constance from that odd fate as Robotnik
Boasted... he still didn't understand...
And even that fleeting thought kept bringing back that old fear
to his heart.

"Mmm, a robot" she repeated, he sounded a little confused at the
word.
Which was a bit confusing for her.
'Vex' Hey, Another word for Sonic, she was sure he would know
what they all meant~
Then he said another one! 'Mallet' although he pretty much told
her what a mallet was, it was obviously a hammer of some sort.
She'll ask Sonic about it anyway, just to be sure.
She smiled, and ran after him, following alongside him, she was
looking around the streets again, until he asked her what a
robot was.
"A robot?" She repeated again, looking up at him once more,
"Robots are those metal things Robotnik builds and uses against
people, to scare and hurt them, he usually powers each of them
with poor little animals..." She trailed off, her ears lowered.
"He can also turn people.. Mobians, into robots as well, using
this big scary machine he calls a robotosizer" she shivered
slightly at the thought of it.
"Once he's turned an animal or mobian into a robot, he has full
control over them, and he gets them to do evil things..." She
explained.

"So... Metal Golems... are called Robots in this era." He
repeated, "...And he has the ability of turning Mobians and
animals into those metal Beings.." He scowled looking forward as
the grip on his blade hilt only tightened as he muttered, "...So
he was going to Turn my brethren.... and Constance into such
things..." He snarled out slightly, as he quickly closed his
eyes for a moment, then abruptly announced, "Constance's friend!
She was turned into one as well! THAT'S why wished me not to
attack her!"
He looked back down to Sapphire, "Eh.. Apologies...It is good..
that you have not met that fate." He breathed deeply, brimstone
expelling from his nostrils, "Milady's friend... I predict was
subjugated to that. I was attacked, but I was ordered not to...
To see someone as... well from what I can recall, gentlehearted
as you in that state..."
He thought about it, The only times he had seen this young girl
was around Sonic...
"...I cannot imagine to see even one like you harm someone....
It seems Robotnik is ever eager to have those who are close to
each other... to be at odds in that state, Yes?" He questioned,
then blinked, finally realizing he might be bombarding her with
far too many questions;
"I... am sorry if my wording seems... foreign to you. I'm not...
exactly from around here. "

Metal Golems? Era? She hummed softly to herself. He was
certainly one very interesting person to talk to!
'brethren' and 'Consta-' hang on, Constance? Robotnik was going
to turn the queen into a robot? That would not of ended well...
Then he said about a friend of Constance's and how she was
turned into one. That'd be scary and very sad... Seeing a friend
or family member as a killer robot...
When he looked down at her she shot him a small smile. She
continued to silently listen to him speak, not interrupting or
saying a word until he had finished.
"No need to apologise, and it's good that Robotnik didn't get to
your Brethren or Constance either, no one deserves to be in a
robotosizer" She said, as she looked ahead of her. "It's really
scary" she added, as she gripped her hammer tightly.
She nodded, "Robotnik said he was going to turn me into a robot
and then make me hurt Sonic and bring him to Robotnik..." She
said softly, as she seemed to hug her hammer. And walk a little
bit closer to Forte, she was very tempted to hug him or his arm
or something, "I don't want to hurt Sonic..." She added, looking
up at him. "Oh, it's ok! Some of the stuff I'm saying probably
doesn't make much sense to you, does it?"
