Site Maintainence, User Management and FAQ Answered

Hello everyone,
I've been wanting to make this sort of News Update for some time
now, and in recent events occurring in the last month, I think
it's time I actually posted this. Mostly, so that users on this
website are made aware and partially, as sort-of like a personal
journal entry. Veteran Users should know most, if not all, of
what I am about to say in the following; but if you don't not to
worry! It's here now! ;D New Users (people who have registered
in the last three months), this will be a good learning
experience for you and hopefully would clear up any
misconceptions based on recent 'incidents' on the forum.
I hope this doesn't intimidate anyone, but the only reason why I
am bringing this up is because I have been seeing a pattern
reoccur in the past six months on this site.
Please note that the following are my opinions only, Sonic and
MissV are more than welcome to add their own thoughts in
relation to this by replying to this thread if they wish. Thank
you. :)
Why the Rules on this Site Are So Strongly Enforced
So that everyone can have an enjoyable time while RPing and
chatting here. This is the Internet so meeting a number of
undesirables is inevitable, this is why we here on Sonic
Spotlight have two Admins and one Moderator to keep an eye on
things. Every complaint, big or small, is taken seriously and
will definitely be followed up with an investigation to see if
further action is necessary or not.

[li]The Rules aren't made to spite or discriminate someone.[/li]
[li]Actions taken against Users is determined as a group
discussion and determination by both Admins and Mod.[/li]
[li]Getting Warnings doesn't make you a bad person! The Warning
System is in place so that you are aware that if you did
something wrong, you are given up to three more chances to not
repeat them. Accidents or unintentional wrong-doing on this site
happens all the time, but it's not an accident if a person does
it again and again. ;) [/li]
[li]Getting banned doesn't make you a bad person either! As
addictive and fun this forum gets, if you're banned you really
need to get over it and move on in life. There is so much more
out there to enjoy rather than have a cry about not posting on
one website.[/li]
[li]Warning Levels are raised based on the severity of the
offense, in most cases it starts at Level One. We have had
occurrences where it has landed an immediate Level Two and one
occurrence of an instant Site Ban. (It really got that bad at
some stage!)[/li]
[li]Level One Warnings are generally given out due to repeated
offenses or an offense that requires immediate attention.[/li]

A Little Bit About Sonic Spotlight RP Staff and Our Conduct

[li]Respect OOC is absolutely important for us. Yes, you have
heard it a million times by now but it really is that important!
In fact, repeated disrespect or being manipulative is the only
reason thus far why people have gotten banned![/li]
[li]We have Mods and Admins at opposite Time Zones so that
monitoring of behavior in Shoutbox is pretty much 24 hours a
day.[/li]
[li]We highly value posts that bring meaning to
characters/situations instead of posting for the sake of
posting. We really encourage you to do so! :D[/li]
[li]We believe that people are (and I quote), 'Are creatures of
habit.' This is why when Warnings are given out, we have not had
an incident where it goes down a level or been removed.[/li]
[li]We have a way of tracking down pretty much everything
written on this site! We keep and often provide evidence when an
incident occurs. If you are the one receiving Warnings or Bans,
do not exaggerate or attempt to lie in order to gain
sympathy/higher ground with the majority of the RPers. Acting in
such a disorderly manner often results in a site ban.[/li]

A Little Bit About Myself

[li]I am not really a scary tiger! I'm actually a fluffy one! :D
I find it quite amusing that a number of people may think I'm a
scary lady... maybe it's because I mostly take up the
Warning/Ban Hammer Admin status? Or that I suddenly sound
really, really formal in serious PMs? Or maybe some people think
that I am a reflection of my OC Karahl? I'm not really by the
way! Believe it or not, I don't eat people! :o[/li]
[li]It takes a lot to anger me. By a lot, I mean it takes months
of repeated offenses and by anger, I mean genuine anger when I
set off like a firecracker. All formality, level-headedness and
self-restraint is thrown out the window. Despite this, I still
make a note to only use swears as Adjectives instead of Nouns;
but if it is the otherwise, I would probably sarcastically
applaud individuals who actually manage to push me so far as to
make me absolutely livid. I have only ever once in the
twenty-three years of my life thus far, called another
human-being a **** of any kind as a bestowed nickname. So unless
you have joined said person and have done so, you have no reason
to be anxious, fearful, worried etc about me.[/li]
[li]I love to RP! (Duh!)[/li]
[li]I like to keep track of everything that happens on this
site, both OOC and I try my best about IC threads as well.
Simply because I only wish to keep this site as pleasant as
possible for everyone.[/li]
[li]Deception, disrespect, being manipulative, take something
and then slap it in my face, being a smart-ass (the bad kind) or
vindictiveness for self-gain, or used against myself/others I
care about, is the biggest and quickest way to land a usually
permanent spot in my Bad List. So if it breaks Rule One, don't
do it!!![/li]
[li]I read between the lines, not just the excuses themselves. I
like to know why or how people act and react the way they do. So
if I am met with anyone who has a complaint, excuses/reasons for
why they acted and got banned for I pretty much go all Dr Phil
on what they write. Essentially, I will most likely not believe
that people excuse their misconduct because they didn't know
(after repeated offenses), or that they did it 'for the good of
some BS'. Everyone has a motive and reason for acting in such a
way, and 80% of the time it is because of IRL issues affecting
them.[/li]
[li]If I don't like something said or written, I will tell you.
Not attack you.[/li]
[li]I believe that the best way to predict a person's future
behavior is to look at their history. (Also quoted by Dr Phil!
Lol. Yes I watch day-time TV okay. xD )[/li]

What You Can Do To Help
Besides following the Rules. [sub]Yes. I will never shut up
about following the Rules![/sub]

[li]Respect the will of others while believing in your own.[/li]
[li]If you see any posts that needs attention, there is a little
Report button you can click on in that post to alert an Admin or
Mod. (Found at the bottom-right-hand-corner of such post.)[/li]
[li]Be mindful that other characters are awesome too![/li]
[li]Remember, while we welcome most other contributions to the
Sonic franchise, this website is largely based on - and set in -
the SATAM and Archie Universe.[/li]
[li] Please avoid skimming through posts in important threads.
(i.e. Arcs). READ before asking questions.[/li]
