Float Acorn the Princess
A timid princess from Sapphire the Hedgehog's timeline with a
lot to prove.
Description
A lilac cat-squirrel hybrid with dark purple markings, most
prominently a long stripe running from her forehead to the tip
of her tail. She also has cream-colored fur on her face and
stomach. Her eyes are a dark blue, and her sclera are a faint
yellow color that becomes a deep, reflective gold in the dark.
Float wears a life vest and always carries around a translucent
orange inner tube; she wears light orange water shoes out of
habit, and they are surprisingly durable despite their flimsy
appearance. Float also wears light blue jewelery she makes
herself from seashells and flowers.
Float has two things that identify her as an Acorn and a member
of the royalty; the Royal Birthmark, which is on her right
breast, and the Crown of Acorns, which she keeps in her
possession, although she's only worn it once.
Personality
Float is kindhearted and very mellow, like her father. Her
skills in rallying morale and keeping her friends and teammates
on-task are traits she's picked up from her mother. Together
they would make for a wonderful leader...first, though, she has
to grow out of her crippling shyness, only made worse by the
incident that sent her into the past. Once she stops jumping at
shadows, she'll make a wonderful heir to the future throne.
Float is polite and curt with strangers, and her small sentences
and long pauses tend to give people the impression that she
isn't very intelligent. With friends, though, she tends to
become more wordy, and sometimes even starts showing off. So if
she starts talking in Adabatian, don't be alarmed- she's just
trying to seem more impressive. Even with her friends, though,
she can become shy and soft spoken, often retreating if the
others are becoming too loud or forceful. After her recent
scare, she's also picked up a bad stutter, which doesn't help
her assertiveness.
Powers and Abilities
Jump (A) Float can jump upwards. She's got better height on this
than you would expect from a girl her size!
Bounce (A+A) Float can slam downwards belly-first, crushing
anyone or anything under her and bouncing back up into the air.
She can do this several times before tiring out.
Tube Attack (B) Float can swing around her inner tube to attack.
With her impressive strength behind it, this attack is powerful
enough to send enemies flying.
Tube Toss (Hold B, aim, release) Float can aim and toss her
inner tube out, catching things in the middle. Her aim on this
is startlingly good!
Float/Dive (A in water) Float's inner tube and life jacket will
lift her to the top of any body of water. She can also dive down
against her floatation devices, and is able to reach the bottom
of most pools of water without much trouble. She is a very good
swimmer, and can hold her breath underwater for much longer than
most people.
Jewelery making (--) Float can make jewelery out of flowers and
seashells; she normally paints them, too, but sometimes they're
prettier with their natural colors. She often makes these
trinkets in her spare time to relieve stress.
Fishing (--) Float learned to fish from her father. She isn't
quite as good at the fishing part, sure, but she can cook what
she catches very well.
Weaknesses
Physical
Float is heavy-set and, as a result, not as fast as most
Mobians. She can generally give a good effort at matching the
pace of her teammates, but often lags behind, and on her own
tends to walk very slowly.
Float is a fair bit taller than some other Mobians, too. While
she hardly towers over others like her father did, she still has
a few inches on people older than you. The attention it gets is
enough to make her act painfully shy, especially in crowds.
Float is used to lakes, forests and rainy weather. Heat and dry
areas tend to drain her very easily, causing her to become even
more lethargic than usual.
Float is allergic to foods with artificial chemicals and
modifications- or, as a more general term, greasy city food and
wal-mart fodder. They make her very, very sick.
Mental/Emotional
Float's shyness is her biggest handicap. It also causes her to
sometimes act a bit too reliant on Sapphire and her other
friends. It also relates directly into her lack of confidence in
herself, and her lack of assertiveness.
Float is a bit spoiled, and hardly used to living entirely on
her own. It tends to get her into trouble, needless to say.
Float isn't able to use Chaos Energy on her own. She does
consider Chaos Artifacts to be very lucky, though, and will
happily lend them to her teammates for them to use.
Float has become very paranoid of new people. Even when she gets
close to someone, it's very hard to quiet the nagging fear in
the back of her mind...
History
Float is the daughter of Sally Acorn and Big the Cat in the same
alternate future that Sapphire the Hedgehog hails from. Her
parents, the King and Queen during her youth, had what was
perhaps the most peaceful reign in ages...until the kingdom was
attacked by an unexpected enemy. Relocating, Float was raised
with other children in the old Knothole Village while her mother
fought with the other Freedom Fighters. Her father was one of
the main caretakers of the young children, along with guarding
the Village. Without much to do, and with her parents often
forced away by their duties, Float became close friends with the
other children. Sapphire was the leader of their little group;
although Float tried to take charge on occasion, she usually
fell to the wayside. Despite this, she considered the "Mini
Freedom Fighters" her closest friends growing up.
When they were older, Sapphire brought up the idea of going into
the past to escape their confinement in the small village, along
with other seemingly impossible goals. The other MFF immediately
dismissed the idea. Float was intrigued, but didn't want to go
against the group, and wasn't sure time travel was even
possible, so she also decided to dismiss Sapphire's idea. When
Sapphire disappeared and the other kids started panicking, Float
could only marvel at what she was sure Sapphire must have
accomplished... In her friend's absence, Float did her best to
rally the other kids, but her nervousness prevented her from
being as good of a leader as Sapphire was, and the group became
more distant, focusing on other things and helping out more
around the village.
Float herself was running an errand, going out to one of the
supply bases in the forest to bring resources back to the
Village, when something bad happened. Float refused to speak of
it, but she ran back into the Village like a woman possessed.
When her mother returned from her last mission, where she was
nearly captured, Float looked like she had seen a ghost. Her
trust in the other Villagers seemed to have shattered in the
short time she had left the village, even her trust in her
father, who she was normally very close too. When she finally
did try to confide in the rest of the MFF, she was dismissed and
accused of making up stories. Terrified and betrayed, Float
thought of the only person she felt she could trust. Taking a
leap of faith, she broke into Tails's workshop and managed to
find the supposed time travel machine. Using it, Float went to
the past, in search of her friend and the only one she could
trust...
