Relic the Pika (Concept art from the Archie Comics)
A budding archeologist from Downunda, Relic is on a mission to
unlock the secrets of the planet Mobius and the Chaos Emeralds.
Description
Relic is a cheerful turquoise Pika (a kind of mouse) with an
adventurous and kind of geeky disposition. Her outfit is made
for intense travel, and her bag is generally filled with
whatever archeological tools she can't fit into Fixit's storage
compartment. She wears small spectacles to correct her
farsightedness, as well as to look smarter. People often seem to
assume that they're fake, for whatever reason. Relic doesn't
have very many powers, and her main claim to fame is her
extensive knowledge on history and legends.
Personality
Relic is naturally very quirky and kindhearted, often babbling
on for ages about her passion for the past, a habit that she's
embarrassed to admit tends to get on other's nerves. She tends
to become more frustrated with people she views as stupid or
pointlessly mean, and her more stubborn and argumentative side
can flare up, especially when she's being directly denied
something. She can be a bit more shy around the people she
respects, in fear that her overly excitable behaviors will make
them dislike them, but she'll ease out of the fear after a
while. In the end, she's a valuable and kind friend who has a
habit of adding some excitement to every day.
Powers and Abilities
If Relic does have powers, she hasn't revealed them yet.
However, she does have a range of abilities to use to help her
with her quest.
Hop (A) Relic can leap forward quickly, bouncing around and
gaining momentum until she wears out or is intercepted. She can
hop in any direction, but lacks the ability to add height to her
jumps, which leads to...
Wall jump (A+wall+A) Relic can ricochet off of any horizontal
surface with enough area for her to get a grip, allowing her to
hop higher. She can combine this to reach high places.
Quick step (L/R triggers) Relic can quickly hop straight to
either side for a quick dodge.
Roll/Reverse (B) Relic rolls forward; when she comes up, she'll
be facing the other direction.
Sort through items (X) Well, kind of self-explanatory, isn't it?
Use items (Y) Relic has items for climbing, digging, dusting,
and all the other treasure-hunting essentials. She's even got a
(rather buggy) emerald radar!
Weaknesses
Physical
Since she doesn't have the natural treasure-hunter skill set,
she often relies more on tools or acrobatics for her
explorations, which can easily become a major inconvenience!
Relic doesn't do very good with extreme weather, and will often
become sick when the Island goes into extreme climates.
Considering she's from Downunda, one must wonder why she isn't
more acclimated to heat...
Mental/Emotional
When she gets into a stubborn mood, or a passionate mood, there
is no stopping her, and nothing else is worth her attention.
When all else fails, aliens. Or ghosts, or gods. Relic seems to
have an odd habit of guessing the ridiculous solutions...and a
tendency to be right, not that anyone listens.
History
Relic was born in Spagonia to two archeologists who passionately
researched the many mysteries of Mobius; the Chaos Emerald,
Angel Island, Newtrogic High Zone, Nightopia, the ancient
tribes... They dedicated their lives to understanding it all.
And, when Relic was still a child, they seemingly came upon the
final piece of the puzzle. Thrilled that they had seemingly
finally found the answer, the duo rushed to the archeological
community to share their findings.
They were laughed out, and excommunicated from the group. Their
collected relics were confiscated and put in museums, with
takked on explanations, while their research was ignored and
damaged. Horrified, Relic's parents relocated to Downunda in
shame, vowing to let the past lie and never go back to their
failure. But it haunted them, and eventually their grief caused
them to fall ill.
Relic, unaware of her parent's plight while growing up, quickly
gained the combined passions of her parents, becoming more
intensely joyous over history and archeology than either of them
had been. The older she became, the more dangerous her
expeditions became, soon moving closer and closer to the Great
Crater. From the ruins there, she uncovered the first and most
substantial piece of history yet- a still-functional robot AI
called Fixit. She befriended the little machine and kept him
hidden. With her parents falling into worse illness by the day,
and Relic becoming older, though, she soon came to a decision...
Relic finally approached her parents, revealing that she
intended to leave Downunda to prove to everyone that they were
right. Her parents tried to discourage her, but her mind was
set. Her parents gave her their blessing, and she left the
continent with Fixit to start her quest. Unfortunately, things
weren't nearly as easy as she had hoped. The archeological
community of her parent's home remembered their embarrassment,
and easily picked up on Relic's connection to her parents. And
once they figured that out, they started doing everything they
could to block all of Relic's attempts to prove them wrong.
Luckily, things started looking up when she encountered a red
echidna by chance, and found her way to a mysterious floating
island...
Trivia!
[list]
[li]Relic's main opposition from the archeological community is
the Chairman, Montclaire, who often deliberately sets off her
temper to make her seem less credible to the others in the
community. She really, really dislikes him.[/li]
[li]Relic is a month older than Knuckles, landing her at 17
years old. She's homosexual and biromantic with a preference for
girls.[/li]

Fixit the Gizoid (Concept art from the Archie Comics)
Relic's helpful, if infuriatingly mysterious, robot companion.
He fixes things.
Description
A tiny green-eyed bot with an orange-yellow color scheme and a
highly advanced AI, Fixit seems to be one of the ancient Gizoid
robots made by the ancient echidnas. His primary function is to
repair things, made an easy task thanks to the many tools held
in the storage compartment on his back, and it makes him a
valuable partner for the archeologist "Madame" Relic.
Personality
Fixit is a very polite and formal 'bot with an unfortunate case
of amnesia. Fixit does have rules and protocols coded into him
that he follows, but these are mostly just suggestions; he
himself is a fully sentient being with free will. Fixit can also
be somewhat shy around new people, and works hard to prove
himself. His memory loss sometimes leaves him distressed and at
a loss, but luckily he has Relic to help him through it- and
help him find out about his past.
Powers, Abilities, and Weaknesses
Not much is known about Fixit, even to himself, and his skills
and failings are no exception. Adventures with Relic have
allowed him to discover some of his abilities, however,
including...
Flashlight eyes (--) allowing him to light up the dark.
Hovering (--) allowing easy maneuverability in any direction;
the further he goes from the ground, the more energy it costs.
Stretching arms (--) Fixit's arms can stretch longer, presumably
to reach the tools in his storage compartment.
Chaos Power Cell (--) Fixit runs on an automatically-recharging
power unit that seems to run on Chaos Energy. It resembles a
green ring.
Overly polite! (-) Fixit's silly formalities and peacefulness,
which have caused their fair share of trouble!
