Rouge the Bat (Art from Sonic Adventure 2)
The world's greatest treasure hunter, or so she says. The bounty
on her head should be more than enough evidence of her talent.
       Description
This buxom bat seems like she should be dressed for stealth, but
her bright pink and white hearts say otherwise. She's so good,
she could probably dress herself like a Christmas Tree and not
be seen. Everything about her shouts out to the world that she's
the best, the most beautiful, the most talented, and she knows
it. And before you ask, boys, her figure is natural~
Her wings are somewhat small and deformed when compared to other
bats, and she can't manage full flight with them.
       Personality
Rouge might seem egotistical and self-centered at first glance,
but she's just confident. She doesn't need reassurance of her
skill or value, and she'd probably think you patronizing if you
tried praising her yourself. Rouge is her own boss and follows
her own orders, and she refuses to take them from anyone, any
time, any circumstance. She's had enough of people bossing her
around in her youth, and she won't stand for it now. If you have
any complaints, you'll have to hold your tongue or loose your
tongue. Her slightly bossy nature can also cause her to fuss
over people she's close too, if there's even anyone that
qualifies. Her independent nature doesn't stop her from being
lonely, but she doesn't seem to realize- or maybe won't accept-
that her pushy personality is what might push people away.
One thing Rouge can't stand is stupidity and lack of common
sense. If you don't meet her standards, expect to get
patronized, ignored, lectured, or educated, if not some
combination of the four. Drooling boys make her skin crawl, and
naivety is met with an incredulous sneer. Maybe she's just mean,
but it's more likely that she's just sick and tired of people
       holding such foolish attitudes.
Once you get really close to her, though...Rouge becomes less of
a pushy, no-nonsense diva, and more of a doting older sister.
       Powers and Abilities
Rouge has the unique type of Chaos abilities normally seen in
Guardians, but with a unique twist; she has no object
restraining her abilities, making her powers rather formidable.
However, some sort of principle has her refusing to use her
power until the most dire of circumstance, leaving her to rely
       on her impressive martial arts.
Jump (A) Rouge leaps into the air with surprising speed and
strength, rocketing upwards a fair distance. She can damage
something with sheer force, but she has to add a flip to her
jump to avoid causing damage to herself.
Glide (A+A) Rouge can lean out of a dive and glide until she
hits ground level. She can flap her wings to gain a bit of air
back, but not much else. She's most vulnerable while gliding,
since breaking form tends to send her down.
Climb (--) Rouge can climb just about any surface. She can also
climb on ceilings, but only if she can get a good hold. She can
tire out after a while, but she'll be find if she can find
somewhere to hold on with her legs.
Kick (B) Rouge's main form of offense, her kicks are strong
enough to dent steel, and her razor heels can slice through
solid stone. It goes without saying that you don't want to be on
the receiving end of this kick.
Dig/Drill Dive (A+B) Rouge can shoot down from the air and dig
into the ground. She doesn't much like getting covered in dirt
without good reason, so if there's nothing worthwhile she'll
       come back up quickly.
Screw Kick (Spin+B) Essentially a high roundhouse kick, it
looses some of the force of her normal kick but has better range
and time, and isn't countered or grabbed as easily. Stay out of
       range.
Tornado Kick (--) She can get her screw kick going fast enough
to become a bladed whirlwind, while regaining the power of her
normal kick. Downsides are that it makes her dizzy, and the
spectacular failure that happens if her balancing foot is caught
       on something.
Hip Drop (--) She goes up and comes down hard, slamming into the
ground. Add in a bit of chaos force and you have the recipe for
a massive shockwave. Thanks to her odd attitude about chaos
       powers, she rarely uses this.
Chaos Control (--) Rouge has the ability to wildly direct the
flow of Chaos. The full extent of this ability is unknown due to
       how little she uses it.
Chaos Cease (--) The only Chaos ability Rouge has used multiple
times, this cancels out other Chaos abilities, including basic
       Chaos Control.
Treasure Scope (--) Unlike Knuckles, Rouge has the full chaos
ability with or without the original item. If she so chooses,
she can change her vision to see invisible items.
Chaos Radar (--) The main benefit of her unique chaos abilities,
a skill that allows Rouge to track any object by it's Chaos
energy. This is a major contribution to her skill as a thief,
and her radar is probably the best there is.
       Weaknesses
       Physical
While her lower body strength is nothing to sneeze at, her upper
body strength is unimpressive. It's also got less defense, and a
few good hits to the chest will really hurt her.
Her Chaos Cease power only acts as a counter, much like counters
in a physical sense. If someone uses an ability, she must react
before the effect has fully taken place. Her Cease only lasts
long enough to cancel out the attack, and then goes away
       immediately.
       Mental/Emotional
Rouge can't resist pretty gems. Why is she so obsessed? Who can
       say?
She seems totally oblivious to her own flaws. Talk about
       grating!
She has a bad habit of buying into superstitious things like
       fortune telling.
       History
Rouge was born a street rat in a run-down city in the country
north of the United Nations. She didn't have much, but her
mother loved her very much. She often collected spare change to
see the fortune teller down the street known as Madame Mari, to
see if her and her mother's luck would start looking up.
One of the worst things about her town was the law enforcement,
who considered themselves above the people they were meant to
protect. A normal day where Rouge was going to visit Mari, she
found the officers attacking the fortune teller. Her cry for
help was answered by her mother, who rushed to their aid, and
was gunned down by the police.
Rouge woke up in the hospital, only a few miles away. Apparently
she had fainted, and arrived at the hospital several hours after
the actual accident. Mari had died shortly after arriving,
because her injuries had been unattended for so long. Her
mother's death was deemed an accident. In shock, Rouge refused
to communicate with anyone. There was no easy foster system in
the town, and she ended up staying in the hospital for almost
two weeks before she was discovered by a vacationing family from
Spagonia, who decided to take her with them.
Rouge's new family lived lavishly, and the young child was
overwhelmed. She was showered with attention and gifts, brought
to all of her new parent's dinner parties, taught all the graces
of high living. She was given silk dresses and diamond jewelery,
and taught how to make herself "pretty." Her days were spent
learning a multitude of skills and meeting so many people their
faces blurred together. Her nights were spent sitting in shock,
still unable to fully comprehend what had happened. Her new
parents doted on her, but they didn't seem to speak to her. She
couldn't imagine getting support from them with handling her
mother's death, not to mention all the other awful things that
       had happened to her.
One sleepless night, she finally decided to try. Their room was
empty, though, so she followed the suspicious sound of idle
chatter. Peeking through a crack in the door, she saw that her
parents had actually been holding night parties- and they were
right in front of the door, deep in conversation about their new
pet. As she listened silently to the conversation, her heart was
filled with dread. Their "pet" wasn't a feral animal that they
had decided to whimsically attempt to train, or a specially
trained breed of mindless lapdog. It was her.
Horrified, she ran back to her room, staring in silence at the
room- the cage- as the sounds of the party slowly died down.
Something had to give, and she had reached her limit. Abandoning
her dress, she wrapped herself in black cloth and dissapeared
into the darkness. When morning came and Rouge's "parents"
awoke, it was to nothing. Even the shingles on the roof and the
trim on the walls was stripped away. And their little "pet" was
       long gone.
Thus, the Treasure Hunter Rouge was born.
       Trivia!
       [list]
[li]Rouge loves jewels, but her favorite gemstones are the ones
she finds deep in untouched caves; naturally beautiful, and
entirely unaltered. She doesn't collect these, of course, but
she does mark their locations on maps.[/li]
[li]Rouge is 17 years old, though she often claims to be 18
since it's "close enough", in her opinion. She's demisexual and
       panromantic.[/li]
[li]Rouge dislikes being in places or around people who try and
shove their money into people's faces. She thinks they're
       pretentious.[/li]
[li]If Rouge gains a true hate for someone, she will take
everything from them that she can get her hands on. She says
       that it's very therapeutic.[/li]
[li]Rouge has a reasonable knowledge of carpentry, which she is
embarrassed to admit to. She built most of her own
       hideouts.[/li]
[li]Rouge currently lives in an abandoned mining facility, which
she's altered to suit her needs. The mines are filled with
gemstones, either ones she's stolen herself or ones that had
already been there. It isn't much, but she'll be the first to
tell you that she loves that mine.[/li]
[li]Rouge's "worst nightmare" is being tricked into the same
situation her adopted "parents" put her in as a child, with no
escape, and no option but to serve the rest of her life as a
prop to bolster someone else's ego.[/li]
