[????] Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend
By: Karahl Date: May 3, 2014, 9:27 am
---------------------------------------------------------
(Set during Act Two, after visit with Discord.)
Karahl headed straight to where the last hide out her father and
brother were last hidden within the city; frequently watching
behind and around her for anyone suspicious of tailing her. If
she hurried, she would be able to catch them before they moved
to a random location again. She soon arrived at a simple, small
home; one which looked completely identical to the others on its
street. So much so that if one wasn't observant about the
numbers labeling them, it was easy to knock onto the wrong door.
The street wasn't empty, nor was it busy; just with the
occasional local moving about their front yards or walking down
the street. Naturally, the ninja stealthily made her way to the
house, undetected, before slipping through one of the windows at
the back.
As soon as she entered the ninja was met with a barrage of
blades thrown her way. The tigress reacted immediately by
dodging as many as Mobianly-possible and drew out her twin tonfa
to block the remaining blades; each weapon ricocheting and
half-burying themselves into walls, the floors and other
fixtures about the home.
"Karrie! You did it! Yay!" a voice called from deeper in the
room.
"Kyro?" Karahl called out gently, dropping her usually stoic
appearance entirely. She crept closer into the room, looking
around warily to find her much younger brother, "Where is
father?"
"He's right here!"
The six-year-old held in his hand a much larger one; the fur was
orange with dark brown stripes. Vallarticus's eyes were deep
blue and his formal attire was a matching uniform to Karahl's
only better suited for a male build. He made a series of hand
signs and gestures, earning himself a confused look from Karahl.
"Daddy says that it is good to see that you have kept your
skills sharp. He threw those." Kyro informed, his never-fading
smile and sparkling eyes still ever present.
"What?"
"Daddy can't talk anymore... ever since that Scary Day." the
youngest added, his tone drooping slightly before perking up
again, "So he has taught me Sign Language! Daddy used to use
hand signs when telling others what to do whenever he is in a
big fight. So now he uses it for talking!"
"That... is really impressive Kyro. How long have you been
learning this?"
The cub frowned a little as he looked to his hands - balled into
fists - before stretching out a finger one-by-one as he counted.
He then held up eight fingers and two thumbs up high to show his
sister, "I have been learning for this many days!"
Karahl chuckled as she kneeled down to hug her brother lovingly,
"One of these days you're going to teach me that."
The boy gasped excitedly, "Me?! Teach you something! Oh WOW!"
Vallarticus' tail tapped the floor behind him a few times to
gain his son's attention, then followed up with a elaborate hand
gestures. He then smiled before walking over and hugging his
children; it was a firm hug, longing even. A single tear was
even shed when he bowed his head over Karahl's shoulder.
"Daddy says he's so happy to see you. He was afraid that you
might go away."
"Go away?"
"Go away." Kyro repeated as he pointed to the ceiling, "And not
come back. He was scared that I might had gone away too. He was
scared that we all might have gone away on that Scary Day."
The father pulled out of the hug, wiping his cheek dry with a
single swipe before making more hand gestures.
"Daddy is asking why you have come home so soon."

"I have a new Contract, a new one since almost a week ago. I'm
honestly really relieved." Karahl replied as she set down the
duffel bag and placed a hand over her stomach, "It has been a
while... how and you, mother and Kyro been holding up?"
As expected, her father replied with a series of hand gestures -
to which Karahl didn't bother trying to decipher at this point.
At least, not now.
"Daddy says that he has managed. He also says that I am not old
enough to try it or see it happen." he then pouted, "But
Daaaaaddy! I'm a big boy now! I am brave enough!"
Vallarticus simply shook his head and shook at finger at Kyro,
mildly scolding him. The cub crossed his arms and huffed, "I'm
strong enough... I'm getting tired of drinking milk and eating
fish."
More hand gestures. More adorable pouting from the cub.
"Yeah, yeah. I need to practice first my medi-meda-meddi...
sleep. Have to be careful."
"Meditation is different to sleep Kyro." Karahl commented with
amusement.
"It is?" Kyro questioned bluntly, sounding genuinely surprised.
His father face-palmed.

"Anyway, Father, I am in need for some new equipment for this
Contract. I need your expertise in craftsmanship to help me."
Karahl spoke up again after recovering from a fit of giggles;
back to business.
Vallarticus moved his hands and fingers against each other.
"Daddy is asking what did you have in mind?"
"My target is Venus. I need something suitable for going up
against machinery and metal."
Vallarticus looked somewhat surprised, where as Kyro had no idea
who she was talking about. He simply stared at her with a blank
expression for a moment before noticing his father.
"Daddy says to not try for something that she would know a lot
more about. Don't try something too new."
"Oh no, I don't want anything completely different or
techno-gizmo. I can barely use the basics of a computer,
remember? I also know you're no different, Father." Karahl
laughed before tapping on the reinforced diamond tonfa she was
wielding, "I'm thinking something closer to home. I need
something that will protect my teeth and deal some lethal damage
at the same time. Based on my jaw strength of course. Cutting
through flesh and bone, not a problem. Metal, however, is
another story."
The father of the two nodded in thought before deciding to
swiftly walk into the next room, then returned a few minutes
later holding a block of clay.
"Daddy says that he wants you to bite into this so he can copy
your teeth." Kyro smiled, bouncing up and down as he clapped his
hands. He loved watching his father work on things, "Then you
can wear it over your teeth to protect them. They will be even
sharper than before! Daddy also says that you have to make your
teeth big first before biting or else the guard will not fit."
Karahl nodded, it made sense. As he allies had witnessed before
when they had their first encounter with the Songbirds, Karahl's
four canine teeth had extended and grown in diameter until they
overlapped her lips considerably. Much like a saber-tooth tiger.
This only happened when Snow-Claws were ready to kill, to
consume. Or, if they were really pis'sed off. So, after a few
low growls and stretching of her jaw muscles, she did just that
and bit hard into clay block; making sure that it had made a
mold of all of her teeth.
"Daddy wants to know what is next."

"Just one more thing. I am concerned that through the use of her
equipment or robots, that my concealment within the environment
will be compromised." Karahl continued as she handed over the
block to her father and retracted her teeth, "I am concerned
that I may not be able to hide my body heat from her or her
robots if they have capabilities of finding heat signatures in
an environment."
The much older ninja nodded again, swiftly walked into another
room and returned some time later; taking a little more than
last time. He then handed her a dozen grenades with an orange
dot on the top of each of them. Again, made more gestures.
"Daddy says that he has found bad guys with that way of seeing
before. He used these. Flare Gren-Gran-"
"Grenades."
"Gwa-aides. They work like smoke gwa-aides but instead of smoke
they spin and shoot fire. Daddy says to like them up to build a
wall of fire. Sometimes it can be too much for them to see away
from it."
'I could probably use these for the offense if necessary.'
Karahl thought to herself as she pocketed them.

Vallarticus spent several hours making the reinforced
diamond-teeth-cases - which was no easy task. During that time
Karahl took the opportunity to have a quick nap and play with
her brother. When he was done, she put in the extra effort in
extending her canine teeth, placed the casing over her teeth and
found that they fit perfectly. She made a few experimental
chomps in thin air to get used to the feel of them, her teeth
certainly felt a heck a lot more solid than they did naturally.
She also noticed the added weight, which may take some time to
get used to.
After a heart-filled good bye, hugs and whispers with her
family, Karahl leapt out of the window and disappeared into the
city. As always, undetected.
