When a Shimmer Meets a Hurricane. [Sonya Heart and Twinkle.]
By: EternalPeace Date: February 10, 2020, 2:05 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Her designer trainers echoing throughout the eerily quiet
hallway Sonya didn’t even try and disguise her currently
bewildered expression. For one of the most prestigious boarding
schools in the country the place was about as lively as
graveyard. Not that her expectations for excitement had been
particularly high for today after her mother had informed her
irritatingly last minute that she needed a favour from her
favourite and not so ironically only offspring. And between her
mothers guilt tripping, her fathers not so subtle implications
that some time apart from her lover would be healthy, and that
apparently her parents went way back with the current head
mistress of the place she had been reluctantly backed into a
corner with it all. Bitter as she still felt about the nature
of this good deed, she still couldn’t believe she was
filling in as a P.E teacher she was a serious athlete for crying
out loud. But she knew deep down regardless of what they asked
that there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do her for
parents, their unconditional love and support having largely
shaped the fantastic fennec figure she was today she owed them
and knew that had the roles been reversed they wouldn’t
have hesitated in helping her with anything she requested.
Which is why she did her best to quash the exasperation she was
radiating and actually mould her expression into something that
vaguely resembled polite intrigue rather than a combination of
freaked out, bored and itching to jet, just in time to actually
tune back into the welcome drawl that head mistress she’d
completely forgotten what her actual name was, was saying.
“I can’t tell you again how grateful we all are that
you of all people managed to step in last minute.. the girls
will be absolutely thrilled. After all it’s not everyday
we treat them to the luxury of a celebrity visit…”
Getting in a near modest chuckle Sonya found herself sounding
almost uncharacteristically shy in her response. “Oh.. I
don’t know about that. I mean don’t get me wrong
I’m a HUGE deal in general but my fans are usually older.
But I wouldn’t count the younger generation out entirely I
mean to them my awesomeness is probably little beyond a myth, a
legend.. yeeeeeah I’m going to rock this.” Her ego
barely contained for all but a few minutes the blonde shook her
head confidently causing her silky blonde curls to bounce in
one lovely motion in there high pony tail“That’s
what I like to hear. Lets hope the girls think so. Just follow
me through these double doors and I’ll introduce
you.” Not slowing in stride the head mistress swept her
way outside briskly clapping her hands together to trigger her
students attention at once. “Girls today we have a special
surprise for you all. I’d like for you all to give your
warmest welcome and uttermost respect to your temporary Physical
Education teacher this afternoon Miss Sonya Alexa He- um
Sonya?” Seeing that the space where the fennec hero
should have been still remained empty the older woman had a bad
       feeling.
Having stalled herself back a moment or so while she listened to
the head teacher command control in a matter of moments Sonya
got in her inhales and exhales waiting until the principal begun
to question her whereabouts before she pressed play on the iPod
touch in her hoodie pocket cheekily blasting a preferred remix
of a VERY iconic tune. “Sonya… she can really move,
Sonyaaaaaa shes got an attitude SONYA, SHE IS THE FASTEST THING
ALIVE!” Bursting through the double doors personalised
theme music pumping she launched herself into a couple of
frontward somersaults using her own momentum to propel her like
her sneakers had actual springs underneath before she stuck the
landing in her final position after a few more flexible displays
of acrobatics. “It’s a pleasure to meet you all! yes
yes I know it’s me try not to be too overwhelmed.”
Taking note of the rapidly disapproving look that was spreading
across the heads stern features she gave a headless shrug in
return but put the squish on her music eyes narrowing, arms
folding she was way past annoyed that her grand entrance had
       been abruptly killed.

By: Twinkle Date: February 13, 2020, 12:24 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Twinkle had a wonderful morning that was only enhanced by the
addition of a surprise popquiz; naturally the ever prepared
kitten she was, Twinkle had studied even the subjects that
weren't recommend allowing her to ace the test. She took pride
in her beautifully pressed school uniform, dainty gloves and
beautiful bow that she wore each and every morning. Her hair was
neatly styled into a bun so elegant she could be mistaken for
going to prom everyday of the year. Unlike most of her
classmates Twinkle was a morning person, she treasured those
tiny moments in the morning when she enjoyed a cup of tea while
tending to her appearance. Those small moments of peace before
gossip started and the voices of her peers could drown out the
voice of higher education. It was the evenings she hated and the
dreaded period of PE that really made her blood boil.
It was the time of day her perfectly pressed uniform was
replaced with an ugly loose fitting gym shirt and bike shorts,
her shiny shoes were swapped out for worn-out velcro sneakers,
and her beautiful bun was made messy with stray hairs going
every which way. Much preferring the academic side of her
education, Twinkle dreaded PE and everything it entailed,
getting sweaty and stinky wasn't her idea of a good time. So
there she stood in the assembly wearing an annoyed look trying
to prevent her glasses from fogging up, while the Headmistress
explained a surprise for the girls. Rumors had been floating
around that a guest from the city was going to visit their
school. Twinkle had been hoping it was Princess Sally; she
admired the princess's tenacity in the face of super powered
foes. When the Fennec fox exploded through the doors, her heart
sank a little but her speedy demonstration did catch the slitted
eyes of the purple cat. Her eyes followed the the fox from each
twirl to flip, and they sparkled in admiration behind her
catframe glasses. Standing on her tip toes in her ill fitting
uniform, trying to get a better look while her classmates
started to cheer while a few begun to whisper.
"Sonic's girlfriend?" She said puzzled, her ears twitching
absorbing the gossip from the girls surrounding her.
       "I hear she's a doctor."
"She's so lucky she's with Sonic."
"Oh wow! A real Freedom Fighter right here?"
"I'm going to ask for her autograph."
Were just a few of the things whispered while the song came to
an end, giving Sonya the stage.

“Ladies I leave you in Miss Hearts ever capable
hands.” That being all the support she was going to get
from the headmistress Sonya quickly covered up her look of
irritation in place for a more optimistic one. Though she made a
mental note that her jam being interrupted was something
she’d complain to her partner about later. Her attention
now fully focused on her temporary young charges her towering
fluffy ears gave the occasional flicker while she took in the
general feedback from the younger girls about her first
impression. And while a lot of what was being whispered
couldn’t have been more in her favour she couldn’t
help with feel irked that one of those murmurs mentioned that
she was Sonics girlfriend. It wasn’t even the mention of
her and Sonic being an item that was the issue, she loved Sonic
and she knew that he loved her and when put together they were
absolutely unstoppable a magnetic force of nature. But she also
prided herself on keeping her reputation solid with or without
her celebrity boyfriend for connection. She knew that she
wasn’t just known as Sonics girl she’d worked hard,
saved thousands of lives worldwide in base and out in the field
and earned countless amounts of respect for her dues to society.
So what she’d heard was just one of those fly away
comments but it p*ssed her off all the same.
Lightly clearing her throat to gain the classes attention she
spoke making sure her voice while relaxed boomed undertones of
authority. “Alright with my baller introduction over
I’d say it’s time we began stretching and moved on
to all of yours.” Making a small gesture with her hand to
let them all know that she wanted them all she sitting she sat
herself down both legs stretched wide into a v shape.
“While we warm up and for those of you not standing you
need to be trying to touch your toes really arch your spines,
we’re going to go round the circle and each of you is
going to stand introduce yourself and tell me something about
you. It doesn’t have to be anything to personal or
anything you’d be uncomfortable sharing just something
that’ll help me help you. I tend to be able to help others
better when I have an idea of what they're about.” Having
picked a girl at random the class icebreaker was soon underway.
And Sonya listened patiently and non-judgmentally however
       tempting to each introduction.
Until her blue eyes clamped onto one student in particular and
she just knew that this one of was going to have on opinion. It
was almost uncanny had it not been for the species Sonya could
have gone as far to say that this girl was the spitting image of
her at this age. Well maybe not quite her P.E uniform looked
overly ironed and unlike various others she didn’t have a
hair out of place. Internally grimacing Sonya felt like this one
would be the kind to complain about breaking a nail and her
assumptions proved true the moment she stood up and opened her
mouth.“With all due respect Miss.. Heart was it? first
and foremost I’m Amelia. And secondly I don’t see
the point in this ice breaker activity. Your’re not going
to be around long so there’s no point in you trying to get
to know us. And to be quite frank I just don’t see the
need for Physical Education. This class runs in a certain way
and as head girl I make sure that happens. You see Miss Heart
there are those of us here that do and those of here that
don’t.” Thinking that she was being oh so clever
the blonde feline gave the tiniest of glances back in the
direction of a glasses clad purple feline that yet to introduce
herself. Before beginning to try and sit back down thinking
that she’d validly made her point.
Not that she even managed to get halfway before to sitting Sonya
was speaking again all traces of jovial banter erased from her
tone. “Stand up and keep stretching. I didn’t give
you permission to sit back down now did I ? head girl. How long
I am or am not going to around isn’t the point of this
exercise. Regardless of the time frame for the foreseeable
future I’m a member of the staff so I’ll carry out
ice breaker activities however I see fit without input. And as
for you not seeing the need for Physical Education like everyone
else in this class your’re entitled to your opinion. But
if your’re going to be bold and express your opinion on my
time then your’re going to get the same treatment.”
Gathering herself swiftly to her feet the fennec continued her
lecture.“It’s a known scientific fact that regular
exercise improves the functioning of the brain. The increased
blood flow to your brain that exercise causes, along with the
release of serotonin improves mood and is supposed to help
individuals think more clearly. But judging from your petty
attempt to single out a student just now I’d say we still
have a lot of work to do.” Flicking her gaze briefly
towards the purple cat Sonya definitely agreed that this unknown
had seen better days. She looked like she’d been dragged
through a bush and the lesson hadn’t even started properly
yet. But Sonya could also tell just by looking at her that her
strengths were more likely in the scholastic side of things
which she could also relate to in a way.
Back in her day she was never singled out as such because she
could do it all. Top of the class in all her classes but then an
athletic prodigy when physically put to the test. She’d
never had to struggle because she’d led a charmed life but
       that didn’t mean she couldn’t and wouldn’t
emphasise here. “I see.. you know it’s actually
quite funny. You tried to make your subtle dig with the
intention to understatedly humiliate her in front of the
unsuspecting substitute but all you’ve done is humiliate
yourself. Quick tip for you Amelia common decency is a large
factor out in the real world. And let me tell you right now
though I’m really not supposed to say. The scruffy unkempt
looking cat that your’re looking down on as someone who
doesn't and won’t amount to doing anything she’s
probably going to be your boss one day. And as for you.. if you
don’t change how you treat other people the only questions
you’ll be asking others later in life is do you want
fries with that?” Seeing that the presumed bully had gone
three shades of pale and her lip was almost quivering Sonya
smoothed her tone into something much more student friendly.
“You can finish your stretches sitting down now."
"Glasses girl the floor is yours.”
Her attention now trained back on the ruffled looking cat she
       waited.

Somebody stood up for her!? Twinkle couldn't believe it, the
school prefect was just chewed out by their guest speaker, and
so harshly too. She didn't get long to internalize this however
as she had just as quickly been put on the spot. She started to
sweat, her eyes darting around before she sheepishly poked her
dainty claws together. She couldn't make the same mistake she
did when she started high school; when she was asked to
introduce herself on her first day and nothing came out but an
embarrassing meow. Taking a deep breath she straightened her
back and adjusted her glasses, in a as a matter of fact fashion.
"My name is Twinkle, 10th Year student, President of the
educational committee, Student of the arcane arts and assistant
to the school librarian. I keep the shelves clean and she
overlooks my overdo books. Mam!" For such a mess of a girl she
spoke quite clearly and with such faith in her words. "As head
of the educational committee, I welcome you to to our school.
Please don't let our prefect's boorish behavior taint your view
of this fine institution. Quite frankly it's a lovely addition
to see new staff that have spines. She's gotten away with
disrespecting her classmates and staff for far too long. Thank
you Miss. Heart!." With that she formally bowed her head and
       rejoined the line.

Supressing a smile at the felines evident delight that
she’d spoken up in her favour, while Twinkle made herself
aquatinted she casually kept up her own warm up stretches
wanting to set a good example on the rest of the class.
Especially the prefect girl that was fixing her with a stare so
intense that it bordered piercing. Sonya knew that was a
situation she’d have to defuse later tedious as it seemed
the last thing she needed was complaints on her first day.
Tuning in fully back into what Twinkle was saying, she gave the
occasional encouraging nod to show that she was listening and
she was, but the more the girl spoke her urge to cringe
increased. There was no doubt that Twinkle was one of those
exceptionally gifted individuals she knew the type hell
she’d been one. But unlike the purple cat she’d be
outrageously social, effortlessly confident borderline arrogant
in everything she did academically and particularly physically
which automatically cancelled out any bullying attempts in her
case. But Twinkle? She was so snooty it may as well have been
stamped on her forehead. She didn’t approve of bullying in
any form but could she see why this girl was a prime target,
       absolutely.
Hand placed artfully on her hip while she listened to the rest
of the kittens speech when the part about Amelia having gotten
away with disrespecting her peers and facility members came
along Sonya distinctively heard not so subtle sarcastically
hissed. “Teachers swot!” which she pretended not to
hear in favour of beaming Twinkle a radiant smile. “My
pleasure Twinkle. Alright I think we’re all warmed up good
and proper, now lets see some hustle! nothing like fifty measly
laps to get the adrenaline pumping!” Taking off into a
brisk but moderate jog so that the rest of her class could
follow suit she impatiently blew on her whistle.

Having thoroughly put her P.E class through their paces within
the scheduled hour and a half that followed with not only
multiple sprinting laps around the field but various team
building games that Twinkle expectedly got picked last for all
of where teams were concerned. When the glow of a dazzling sun
set finally began to fade into black Sonya decided to put the
class out of their misery. While she had barely broken a sweat
throughout the duration of todays class some of these girls
looked like if they didn’t hydrate soon then they’d
be down A&E because dehydration was the cause. Blowing hard into
her mouth piece to command the groups attention she spoke voice
booming. “Alright ladies that’s a wrap for
       today.”

Twinkle has huffing, dragging herself into the gymnasium after
that death march of a run. She scrapped along the floor her
claws dragging her forward, the neat kitten was even more of a
mess having sweated completely through her shirt. Huffing she
tried to speak but no words came out, this woman wasn't a
teacher she was a army drill instructor! The lavender cat
flopped down onto the floor and spoke, her words muffled by the
ground. "A little help please Miss Heart. I can't feel my legs."
Twinkle tried to reach for her water bottle only for the girl
from earlier to kick it away. Tried of this girl's insubordinate
behavior Twinkle did something she should have done a long time
ago. She grabbed onto her ankles and dragged her down to the
floor, her rival fell to the ground with a thud. Still in shock
the bully had no time to react when Twinkle stepped on her to
get up. She looked down with a haughty expression before
speaking. "Stay down there where you belong. Headmistress will
hear about this." Twinkle's legs wobbled like she was about to
       loose her balance. "Miss!"

Having idly busied herself with tidying away the gymnasium
equipment they’d used for the lesson Sonya appeared to be
well and truly engrossed in her mundane task, but in actuality
she was anything but. Call it instinct but she just knew that
the class prefect wouldn’t be satisfied until she felt
like she finished what she started. And that came in the
unoriginal form of Twinkles abandoned water bottle skidding
across the room. Which would have been prompt enough alone for
her to be over there in a Sonya second to intervene. After all
as nerdy as she was Twinkle was sweet harmless girl, or so she
thought. Before she knew what was happening next Amellias head
was hitting the wooden flooring with an alarming THWACK and she
had to stifle a snigger at the sight of Twinkle not only
throwing open distain for her peer but literally stepping on the
other girl while doing so. And given her abnormally large ears
had allowed her to pick up their conversation regardless of her
being across the hall she knew that when Twinkle called her name
a second time that was her cue.
Barely looking as if she’d made any effort to move at all
in the time that it next took the lavender feline to blink she
would find herself scooped up by surprisingly strong slender
arms. “Don’t fret I gotcha.” Lowering her
voice to much softer tones she added. [i] “Nicely done
handling your own by the way. Ha to think the kitten has claws
       after all!”
       ___
With an extremely short amount of time passing between their
past and present destination, thanks to Sonya Twinkle soon
enough would find herself sitting in the schools infirmary with
her reclaimed water bottle back in hand and her P.E kit close
by. Loosening her blonde curls from the confines of her neat
stylish high pony tail, the fennec leaned herself casually
against the doorframe curious to see how different this felines
behaviour could or would be now that she was temporarily away
from prying eyes. “You better drink up, dehydration is no
joke. I gotta tell you kid you really are full of
       surprises.”

Twinkle still huffing and puffing held out a finger. "You don't
plan on making every class a death march, do you Miss Heart?
While I appreciate the importance physical education, I still
can't feel my legs." She chuckled between huffs and puffs.
Taking a moment to compose herself she took a deep breath, while
cleaning her lenses. After pushing her glasses back up her nose
she offered a sweet smile. "Thank you for your help back there.
Getting degraded in front of my classmates isn't something I
enjoy. Other staff overlook her inappropriate comments because
her family comes from money." Twinkle lowered her head giving a
respectful bow like they did in foreign countries. Twinkle
finally feeling at peace held a happy smile, her tail wagging
with the occasional joyful purr escaping her lips.
"What's the big city like, Miss Heart? Truth be told, I've
always wanted to study there. I've read online their libraries
are top notch, I've always wanted to see them for myself." Her
ears perked up and she bounced excitedly while holding her regal
stature. "Have you planned and trips for the class this year?"
Probing the new member of staff with her curious questions.

The frail feline huffed and puffed for so long after sitting
that Sonya had quietly begun to wonder if she should have been
readying some form of first aid. But the sound of her managing
chuckling in between her huffs and puffs quelled her concerns
for most part but still intended to keep a watchful eye on her
this girl screamed inhaler dependency. “Unfortunately for
you Twinkle today was only the tip of the ice berg. Physical
Education is of the utmost importance for not only physical but
psychological health not that I need to be telling you
that.” Returning her smile in kind she kicked out the
only chair in the room before confidently straddling it in the
       opposite direction to face her.
Upon hearing that there were staff members that were clearly
shirking their educator duties purely because of the influence
of something as prejudice as wealth status that caused her lip
to curl downward considerably. What was the system coming to if
bullying and harassment couldn’t be contained or
controlled a place that claimed to have zero tolerance for
anything of the sort. It took the majority of Sonyas
self-control not to come out with a response that would have
probably sounded very un-becoming of a employee so she settled
for. “Well one day I can promise you while you thrive
reality will chew her up and spit her out and no amount of money
will be able to impede that. Oh please you don’t need
t-“ And she was bowing her head, unsure of how to take
the lavender cats sudden formality she waited it out feeling
herself relax a lot more at the tell tale signs of her tail
       wagging, smile, and purring.
“The city.. it’s amazing. Everything is
comfortably fast paced and there’s rarely ever a dull
moment. And I can guarantee you that what you’ve read
online about the libraries is nothing compared to the real deal.
Every book shelf to corner is immaculately precise and of course
alphabetically organised. From the second you step into a
library in the city that’s it it’s like the rest of
the world outside doesn’t exist and it’s just you
and the books… o-or so I’ve heard.” Glancing
off sideways momentarily in an attempt to try and save face.
Sonya knew that her usually white muzzle was probably peppered
crimson. It wasn’t that she dumbed herself down far from
it but given her reputation was more athletically based despite
her also being a doctor. This was a side of her personality that
didn’t get a chance to take centre stage much.
Greatful for the diversion with the subject change she chuckled
warmly. “I’m really not supposed to tell ahead of
time but I reckon you can keep a secret. I’ve got field
trips planned to science history museums and aquariums aplenty.
Though somehow i doubt the rest of your class will share your
       enthusiasm for cerebrum expansion. ”

Her ears sunk upon hearing today was but a sample of the torture
her new teacher was planning, but they immediately shot back up
accompanied by sparkling eyes. "Really!? All in order, new tomes
filled with knowledge, boundless books all kept pretty and
pristine." Her orbs shimmered behind her elegant frames, folding
her hands neatly together. She jumped up excited and almost
bounced off the wall. "Museums, marine life center. Miss Heart
where have you been all my life? I've never met a teacher so
passionate about learning." Before getting too carried away
Twinkle looked down to her clothing; It was beyond disgusting.
Closing her eyes and stopping to sniff caused her to flinch at
       the repulsive smell.
"You'll have to excuse me, Miss Heart. Here I am so excited
about the new curriculum I've neglected my hygiene. I need to go
to the little kittens room and freshen up, change into something
not dripping with sweat. It's been a pleasure meeting you, Miss
Heart. I look forward to learning all I can from you." With that
she lowered her head respectfully once again and in a purple
flash she was gone; little pink sparkles and stars dancing on
the air where she once was.
