Avenging a Hero: Emerald Beach Part 2 (Amy, Sonya, Shadow)

The vast blue ocean and glittered coated sand under a clear blue
sky, painted a very similar atmosphere as the first time he's
visited this beach. In fact his standing position toppled with a
stoic gaze of indifference starting into open space and folding
arms are virtually identical, with key differences to stand out
from his first trip to this place. This time around he is
informed by Amy to meet her in this place and he read her
previous message about being in Robotropolis with Sonic. To get
a memory refresher he pressed a button on his communicator to
read it.
[quote]To Shadow-
"Hey, Shadow, I'm in Robotropolis right now. I've been separated
from Sonic, I'm going into the main fortress to get him back. If
you don't get another message from me in 1 hour, then you'll
know something has happened..."
"I love you, Shadow."[/quote]

"I love you too and be careful"[/quote]
Shadow gazed at her last message then replied with the same
amount of affection the best way he could through text, and
placed his phone away in furry pockets. He regretted not being
there for her in her time of need due to being occupied on his
own job assignments, hopefully this training session will make
up for that. He is no longer wearing his hover footwear,
instead his shoes are covered by a pair of friction less running
shoes with a similar red and black scheme. Sonic wanted him to
go a round against him without his trademark footwear and it
wont happen now that hes gone.. They may not see eye to eye but
there was a begrudging respect between the ego-driven hedgehogs.
Flackback-
Shadow entered the engineer labs department in the base at the
request of the commander, the latter present in the room
standing in front of a pair of newly created shoes covered in a
clear container. the ultimate lifeform has only entered this
place a couple times, its to be expected the interior has
undergo some changes pretty often.
"Agent Shadow these are Night Runners, specifically catered to
handle supersonic speeds and beyond made out of friction
resistant materials, every time you take a step the soles obsorb
kinetic energy and transfer it into air cooling, allowing your
feet to remain comfortable. The design was complicated to work
with based on your blueprints but the engineer staff managed to
do it, go ahead and try them on"
encouraging the ultimate-life form following an exposition.
The ultimate lifeform is pleased to hear they are complete, a
smile spread across his muzzle getting to see his creation in
person, behind his reserved exterior is a hedgehog eager to run
in brand new footwear, no longer bounded by the limits of
technology. He removed his hover shoe from each foot, slipping a
toe into one Night Runner before sliding his foot inside, he
would repeat this action on the other shoe. "They fit perfectly"
happy with the result.
"Good, we made sure they fit around your shoe size, care to give
me a reason why you wanted new shoes? You don't seem to be the
type to have an interest in accessories" pondering about
Shadow's sudden change in attitude as he watched the hedgehog
depart towards the door.
Shadow stopped to answer his boss "I've decided I no longer need
artificial footwear to get around places, I'll rely on my own
power instead" he retorted before walking out the door.
"Fair enough" adjusting his tie, he has a suspicion there is a
bigger reason behind it but he is sure its nothing to worry
about.
End Flashback-
Shadow clenched his fist in anger, teeth threatening to bleed
his gums at having his time wasted, all of this training, the
hours he spent designing his new shoes, all to prove that blue
hedgehog's mouth is going to come back to bite him, this entire
journey has lost its meaning.. "Damn you Eggman!..he owe me a
rematch.." muttering, how is going to reclaim his title as the
ultimate lifeform if the one person who challenged his title is
dead? Whats the point anymore? His ears flickered upon the
arrival of Amy and her friend Sonya, he snapped back into
reality to focus on the task at hand, no time to dwell on
Sonic's passing, these girls need to shape up to put a stop to
Eggman once and for all.

Usually the chirpy fox girl was vision was elegance and
composure but this particular morning she could barely manage
that. One good glance and it was an easy guess that she hadn’t
had the most fitful of nights sleep wise the small but deep sets
of bags under her normally bright sky blue eyes confirmed that.
It had taken all of her self-strength to fix on this strong
front get out of bed and act like everything was as well as it
could be. Of course she knew that part of her the larger still
currently grieving part of her was being unreasonable. She could
practically hear Sonics inner voice in head. [i]‘Sonya get
yourself in gear! You don’t quite measure up but someones gotta
be there representing on my behalf. And if it has to be anyone
I’d rather it be you so cry about me later!’ Dragging herself
from away her thoughts she forced herself to quietly inhale and
then exhale unenthusiastic ally, as an all too familiar black
and red hedgehog came into view in the near distance.
Her pace faltering slightly, she found herself gently tugging on
her best friends arm, to bring her to a temporary stop before
she vocalised her concerns, the feeling of déjà vu alone enough
to make her stomach uneasily churn. “I know that we’re doing
this so that we can become stronger and that this is what we
need to do and i'll support you whatever your choices, but that
doesn’t mean I’m comfortable with this.” Knowing that she
wouldn’t have to elaborate on the why part of her explanation
Sonya gazed off sideways her features furrowing in concern. I
just.. don’t want things to end up getting out of hand again.
The fact that real knives aren’t going to be used second this
time round doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence.”

Amy Rose was pretty most silent for the trip to Emerald Beach,
the only emotions she felt were the fierce determination to grow
stronger and the feeling of dread of impending doom that seemed
to loom just out of her field of vision but she could still
sense its presence. Amy shook her head and sighed as she got out
of the car, a small tired smile pulled on her lips as she saw
her boyfriend, part of her almost felt disappointed in him for
not being there when she needed him in Robotropolis, but she
couldn't blame him, she hadn't asked for his help when she had
sent that message. She had just blindly and foolishly charged in
after Sonic... 'Like I always do...' she thought almost bitterly
but pushed that train of thought away and was about to run up to
him but was pulled back slightly by Sonya, urging her to stop.
Amy listened to her friend's concern and nodded then touched her
hand. "Thank you for your concern and for being here in spite of
it all. I know I can count on you for your honesty." she smiled
slightly but then her face resumed a bit more serious
expression. "However, I need to get faster and Shadow is the
only one who can do this." she took a deep breath. "And I feel
ready this time. Before I was not in the right mind to train.
This will be different." She gave her friend's hand one final
squeeze before letting go and approaching Shadow, daringly
reaching up and gave him a kiss then hugged him tightly. She
needed a moment to gather herself a bit before the training was
to start, and the touch of the hedgehog she loved would help her
greatly.
"Hey," she whispered into his fluffy chest, tucking her head
under his chin, breathing in his scent.

Shadow turned around with no surprise attacks this time, waiting
around in paitience witnessing the girls pausing their movement
to presumably have a conversation, if he had to guess its Sonya
being worried about her friend judging from her body language,
who can blame her considering what happen last time. Even though
him and Amy put the past behind them, her involuntary trauma
induced by his own hands still haunted him, he will make sure an
incident wont come into fruition a second time. His lover rushed
over to plant him a kiss, he closed his eyes returning the kiss
then allowed Amy to make herself comfortable on his chest.
"Hey.." he spoke in somber., whatever happened in her mission,
its obvious it wasn't good.
"Forgive me Amy, I wasn't there when you needed me the most.."
trying to apologize and remaining a strong support she needs
right now, he glanced over at Sonya, never forgetting their
team-up in the last mission, they work together pretty well
despite being at the wrong foot with one another. "Doctor.." he
greeted her formally.

When her friend practically gallivanted ahead in her haste to
greet her partner Sonya couldn’t help but fondly shake her
head, and follow. As apprehensive about this do over training
session as she was Amys words of reassurance had helped placate
her at least for the time being. Stopping at a respectful
distance so that the pair could have their much needed
momentSonya had the decency to avert her gaze when Amy went
straight in for a kiss from the get go, her crisp white muzzle
tinting pink from the spontaneity of the action. Not that she
could say much given her former behaviour with a certain green
hedgehog but still.
Folding her arms across her chest her large fluffy ears twitched
frequently involuntarily picking up snippets of the conversation
exchanged between them as the moments went by. "Forgive me Amy,
I wasn't there when you needed me the most.." Annoyance
prickling at the edge of thoughts when she heard this she nearly
opened her mouth to say.'No you weren’t. You should be
sorry.' But found herself holding her tongue after all
wasn’t she just as guilty for that? She’d been
completely off world unaware that this happening at a time when
her best friend no she was more than that her sister needed her
most, she was many things but a hypocrite wasn't going to be one
of them. The realisation of this slowly dawning across her face
Sonya found herself speaking to Amy with the mildest of quivers
creeping into her tone. "Amy.. I’m sorry to. I
wasn’t there when you needed me either.. I didn’t
even know and I should have. You should have been able contact
me i.. I should have been able to come back the minute I knew
you needed my help.. but I .. I .. didn’t..
couldn’t..”
Glancing off sideways to stare off into the soft golden sand
beneath them the sound of Shadows voice focused her attention on
him. Her expression shifting into something much less emotional
and more impassive for him she nodded in response, sky blues
never straying from his crimson ones. “Hello
Shadow.” Having not forgotten their how well their team up
went on their last joint mission her opening held far less
hostility than it normally would of but it wasn’t exactly
warm either.

Amy closed her eyes as Shadow offered his regrets and
condolences and the pink hedgehog gave his hand a squeeze.
"You're here now and that's what matters most. You're both here.
I'm... glad that I don't have to be alone anymore." she said and
took a deep breath, turning her gaze to the horizon, finding the
oceanic setting to be quite soothing.
"Okay." she said, releasing Shadow's hand and took a few steps
away. "If we're going to crush Robotnik's Empire, we need to get
stronger, faster, better. Shadow, I need you to help me in the
speed department. I need to know every speed skill I can adapt.
Are you ready to begin now?" She felt the spark of determination
become a roaring flame. "Then let's do it to it."

Shadow nodded folding his arms, it is time to prepare for the
downfall of the Eggman Empire, now more than ever that madman
has to be stopped before the survival rate of mobious population
decrease in dangerously low numbers. With or without Sonic its
up to him to keep his promise to maria in protecting the world
she loves, and giving Amy the tools she needs to avenge the
death of her friend.
"What do you want to learn first?" he asked.

Sonya knew that this was a critical time enough already without
her letting her personal feelings of grief get in the way. But
she couldn’t help it.. here they were talking about how they
were going to train and get stronger in attempt to take down the
Eggman Empire but that righteous fury that had once burned so
fiercely within her had been reduced into almost nothing. And it
was taking almost all of her willpower not to cry. She wanted so
badly to be strong to keep it together pull through and do this
for Sonic but right now she felt little beyond emptiness.
Her expression paling the words were leaving her lips before she
could think. "I-I’m sorry Amy I can’t do this. I’ll see you at
home later okay?” Tears threatening to prick at the edge of her
vision and the quiver in her words barely kept at bay, she
turned and ran.
