       Burning Blood
By: Empress Blaze Date: July 22, 2019, 1:48 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Sonya's humble clinic had been a stable of the community of
Mobotropolis. Not only did it have a bit of fame for being the
go to choice for most of the world's greatest heroes but it also
was run by probably one of the sweetest doctors on mobius. In
the midst of the simple check ins for a few sniffles or a
sprained ankle...Empress had arrived. By announcing her presence
with a sudden, desperate, and bloody palm against the glass
window. Blaze panted outside, using the window to keep herself
standing as old blood oozed from her gashes. She had just woken
from her bout with the legendary hero Sonic the Hedgehog and she
was not surprised to find that the blue blur had left her for
dead. In fact, she halfway expected it. She gnashed her teeth,
letting out a shallow breath from her fractured ribs as she took
a step forward only to stumble forward into the street.
  HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvrsG4QGhBQ
"Damn that blue...Bastard...He...He really tried to kill me
didn't he? Does his pride know no end?" She forced out a pained
laugh as she punched her mecha arm into the ground to hold
herself up. As she struggled to stand she gnashed her teeth. She
felt the humiliation and rage that he managed to put her into
this state burn in her heart. As she growled, fixating on her
failure Her amber eyes flashed white, before resurfacing with a
red blare for a heartbeat as a black fire crackled around her
form a bit. Leaving the briefest silhouette of a GENUINE DEMON
as she imagined his smug face. Just thinking about what he had
done to her was enough to make her almost lose all sense of
reason. Yet just as quickly as that flicker of hatred given form
appeared it flickered out as she pulled herself up. She barely
noticed the crack she left in the concrete by her cybernetic
       fist.
She pulled herself to a stand as she exhaled and coughed a plume
of fire from her maw. She opened the door of the clinic and
shambled in, half dead. The Cat leaned her head back as she
cracked a lopsided smirk, her golden eyes giving an ominous
       glint.
"Is there a doctor in the house?"

       ---------------------------------------------------------
It still amazed her sometimes that she’d managed to come
this far. Without really trying somehow her small clinic had
made a name for itself. Some sought her out that from far and
wide so that she could give them aid, and for that she was
flattered if not a little overwhelmed. This clinic of hers was
another stepping stone towards no longer living in her adopted
fathers shadow. Albeit she still had a long way to go before she
would ever receive half the recognition for her work that he did
but for the time being this was enough for her. Not only was she
proving that she was capable of standing on her own two feet but
all the earnings she was making from her walk ins went straight
to the local orphanage fund, so she was helping everyone. With
the recent news of her surrogate brothers unforeseen death still
weighing heavily on mind she wasn’t particularly in best
form mentally or emotionally but she’d insisted to Amy
only a few hours earlier that she’d be fine. It
hadn’t exactly been a lie keeping distracted was good for
her right now. She didn’t want to allow herself any more
alone time with her thoughts.. because if she did the clutches
of fresh grief would consume her completely. She wasn’t
going to let that happen, and so here she was half halfheartedly
going through the motions with sniffles and sprains, until her
large fluffy ears pinned high on her head in response to a THUMP
       against the window frame.
Sky blue irises darting to the blood stain imprinted on the
glass Sonya mentally prepared herself for what or more who she
saw next. Her expression professionally vacant at the sight of
the feline she knew immediately that she was in critical
condition between the deep gashes covering her body and the
excessive amount of blood loss, it was astonishing that she was
still conscious. Closing the gap between them in record time
Sonya hoisted the cats arm over one of her shoulders,
encouraging her to allow her to support the majority of her body
weight, as she guided her towards the examination table. Once
the lavender female was sat Sonya began preparing first aid.
Knowing that her priority first and foremost was to stop the
bleeding coming from her open wounds. Applying direct pressure
on the multiple gashes on her person with thick strips of silk
cotton gauze Sonya grimly watched as the blood continued to soak
through the gauze and applied more and kept the pressure on to
keep the blood leakage at bay.
Only when she was sure that the bleeding had come to a cease did
the female move onto hurrying to fetch a tub filled with warm
soapy water her expression a picture of concentration. Making
sure to be delicate but thorough with this next part the medic
quietly cleaned each and every one of the other females bodily
wounds, taking extra care not to hurt her in the process and
make sure that the soap she used was rinsed from each of her
gashes to prevent further irritation. Finally she slipped an
antibiotic cream from the folds of her white medical coat her
tone firm but carrying an element of softness for her patients
warning. “I’m sorry this may sting..”
Continuing to apply the antibiotic cream to her gash wounds
individually to reduce the risk of infection she then produced
multiple sterile bandages and wrapped the lavender cat up so
much that by the time she was finished she was almost comical
       looking.
Taking a step back Sonya didn’t spare time to admire her
handy bandaging work and instead focused her attention on the
next issue at hand. Her multiple broken ribs. Well that was her
theory at present. Her medical instincts didn’t often
steer her wrong. Deciding to casually confirm her suspicions
about the felines broken ribs she touched lightly upon of the
one bandaged gash wounds on her chest, waiting for the
significant pain filled reaction. If the female reacted the way
she was expecting her to then that would determine what course
       of action she took next.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Blaze hissed as Sonya quickly began to treat her most immediate
wounds but offered no resistance. The doctor was quick and
       didn't ask a lot of self-explanatory questions.She even helped
by removing her coat, now tarnished with soaked blood and holes
to give the Fennec more access to her body. Of course in doing
so, she'd give Sonya a view of her form not many were to be
graced with. It became readily apparent why the Empress had
still been conscious. Intermixed in her fur were several scars
that marred her otherwise beautiful lilac and white coat. It had
been clear that this wasn't the cat's first battle. Nor would it
be the last. Sonya would also notice that the cat's figure,
while still having it's feminine beauty, had been impressively
toned. Though, she didn't have the physique of a hardened
soldier, but more like that of a professional dancer. Her most
grievous injury however: would be the clustering of scar tissue
around the base of her cybernetic arm. Clearly she had lost her
previous one in some traumatic way and given the scar
configuration it was obvious that the wound had been cauterized
long ago before a prosthetic was attached.
The empress' steely expression merely twitched as her broken
ribs were prodded at. She didn't howl in pain but the way her
mechanical fist seemed to clench it was obvious she was
straining. "Oi oi! Poking and prodding doesn't seem like it's
helping anyone." She chastised through clenched teeth as she was
obviously fighting back the rush of pain. "Do your job and do it
well. Please." She followed up with, those amber eyes flickering
a bit with something akin to barely contained rage. Though
despite this, her tone was polite but it was still clear she was
       giving an order.
"I hope I haven't gotten your tongue by mistake doctor...You
have hardly said a word since my broken mess shambled into your
clinic." The cat uttered with a wry smirk as she lay there
helplessly. Clearly she was using this front to mask her pain
further but at the same time, a curiosity seemed to twinkle in
her eyes as she looked over the Fennec...

       ---------------------------------------------------------
The sound of the felines hiss not lost on her huge ears Sonya
spared a brief sympathetic glance for the discomfort she knew
her patient was feeling but did not slow in her process of
treating her surface flesh wounds. Considering the condition she
was in the fennec doctor had been half expecting more resistance
from the other female but to her surprise she got nothing more
than steady cooperation the blood soaked garment being swiftly
discarded moments within her arrival couldn’t have been
more appreciated given the timescale she was working with. Her
gaze unintentionally lingering on the ghastly impressive display
of scars that littered the other females toned physique she knew
battle scars when she saw them. Goodness knows she’d
acquired plenty of her own during her years of being a field
medic rather than the safety net that came with being a base
doctor. Her eyes soon finding there way to the cluster of scar
tissue around the base of appeared to be a cybernetic arm Sonya
was both intrigued and incredibly empathetic for the lavender
cat. Logically she knew that she had no reason to be after all
she didn’t even know this woman although there was
something about her that was familiar. And it was that
familiarity that brought on the sympathy that her adopted father
so often scolded her for. 'I get feeling sympathy for those we
treat as much as anyone else but it isn’t our job to
franchise Sonya. I wouldn’t have to reprimand you as much
as I do if you would just understand that we do not and should
not ever mix our professional feelings with our personal ones.
And the sooner you understand that the better a doctor
       you’ll be.’
The sudden sharpness of her invalids tone bringing her back to
the moment she was all quick to notice the bereavement that
laced into her words. If not for the polite way she caught
herself moments afterwards Sonyas own response wouldn’t
been nearly as subdued. “I can assure you that I always do
my job well. You have nothing to be concerned about I
promise.” Having fought off the niggling urge to retort
with something much more snippy the fennec doctor quietly
reminded herself that the pain her patient was experiencing was
probably bubbling up to unimaginable levels which helped her
rationalise her personal annoyance to being given an order in
her own clinic. ‘Let it go Sonya.. just let it go.’
The barely suppressed rage that glinted so transparently in the
females amber hues nearly catching her off guard Sonya managed
to privately gather her wits about her to answer the purple ones
enquiry about her supposed silence. Peering down at her the
blonde fox gave her head tilt letting her curls cascade down one
side of her face with the motion.
The edges of her plump lips tugging at the corners into the
faintest of smiles, she spoke clearly and while her tone
remained on reasonably professional levels the friendliness was
there. “I see what you did there.. cat got my tongue.
That’s funny.” Giving an openly amused shake of her
head, she continued. “If you must know I’ve hardly
said a word since your arrival because it’s not every day
that I have to preform emergency first aid for a walk in that
shows up looking like death warmed up. Not that you don’t
totally pull off the look Blaze.” Her last word coming off
as uncertain the fennec found herself scrunching up her features
as she tried to accurately recall snippets of conversations
she'd had centred around the cat in question in the past. Blaze
the cat.. princess, guardian of the Sol emeralds Sonya had
never come into contact with the heroine herself but she’d
heard enough stories from Sonic, Sally, and the rest of the
Freedom Fighters to know that she was someone more than worthy
       of respect.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you your
highness.” For reasons unknown to her something still felt
off about this cat that led smirking up at her. She just
couldn't for the life of her figure out what. Slowly removing
her pale blue medical gloves, she figured that now was probably
an appropriate time to vocalise her confirmed assumptions about
the severity of her internal injuries. [b] "I wish we were
meeting under better circumstances.. but you have a lung that's
being punctured by one of the broken ribs in your chest. Which
was what all the prodding and poking earlier was for. I'm going
to need to fix that if i may?" A deep majestic water like glow
spreading throughout both of her raised palms, she waited.

Empress closed her eyes as Sonya continued to speak. She simply
nodded her head as the Fennec asked to work on her further. She
didn't care about HOW she was healed, just that she was. Being
in the heart of an unknown territory, nearly dead, and
potentially marked as an enemy by the world's number one hero
left her with not a lot of options. Still if Sonya was going to
help her, she was owed the honesty that Empress could give. "You
seem to know of me. Or at least...A version of me." Her eyes
slowly opened as she spoke. "...So for starters, it would be
your Imperial Majesty." She corrected, her golden eyes flickered
a bit as she stared upon her. Once again, she felt herself being
compared to a phantom. A ghost of what she could have been. It
sparked a kindling of contempt and rage toward her doppelganger.
"Secondly, the reason I am in this sorry state you so aptly put
as 'death warming:' is because your hero's pride outweighed his
sense of honor and decency." She explained waving her cybernetic
arm as if she was displaying a grandiose spectacle. She thought
of each blow the blue blur laid upon her. The pain he so
effortlessly inflicted was enough to cause her body to tense.
Those brows furrowed as she felt her fingers dig into the fabric
beneath her in another surge of burning hatred. "This is the
monument to Sonic the Hedgehog's petty brand of heroism." She
almost spat the last word, like it was a dirty word or if it was
not befitting of the cerulean savior. Her eyes closed as she
lowered the arm to her side weakly. "I am no saint doctor, I
came at him just as hard as he came at me. But we only came to
blows because HE willed it. Because I had the AUDACITY to
challenge the pedestal he has found himself comfortable on." She
forced a laugh, only to cough and hack a few times in agony.
With that, she sighed. Her broken body made it weak and forced.
She calmed down a bit, and instead took a moment to look over
the girl that had been helping save her life. "...So while it is
a pleasure to be treated by such a lovely vixen, I fully
understand if you are less thrilled to meet me. Especially after
       I faced your hero. "

"You seem to know of me. Or at least...A version of me." Her
suspicions confirmed after the felines opening sentence she
arched an eye brow when the cat had the gall to correct her on
how she was going to be addressed. Again she repressed the urge
to roll her eyes, besides if she was in her position and some
had some health care professional mistaking her for her moebius
counterpart Alexa she probably would have been ruder. Those
golden flecked eyes drawing her in she felt a mild amount of
discomfort wash over her. Sure she hadn’t known that this was a
completely different version of Blaze but she was partially
embarrassed all the same. The luminous blue glow in both her
hands beginning to intensify as the minutes passed by she
managed a meek. “Apologies.. your er Imperial Majesty.” That was
going to be a greeting that took some getting used to that was
for sure. Continuing to tend to the feline while she spoke
outwardly Sonyas expression remained poised and utterly
professional but on the inside each badly formed word about the
blue blur was tearing her apart.
When the female started waving her cybernetic arm around in a
frenzy of sorts Sonya found herself gently manoeuvring said arm
back to rest at her side instantly. Knowing fully well that
trying to soothe her rage with words alone wouldn’t do much in
the way of help when she felt her body tense underneath her she
made soft barely audible shushing sounds almost as if she were
comforting one of her ill tempered younger patients. Her next
sentence hitting her like a ton of tricks the only visible sign
that she had been effected by anything said so far was how rigid
her own stance had become. That lingering panic mixed with grief
threatening to suffocate her where she stood she forced herself
to bite her tongue, and remain focused on the priority at hand.
Her eyes snapping shut, the lavender cats remaining words were
put on the back burner while she honed her concentration. That
same electric blue glow slowly spreading throughout her entire
body the other female would soon find her body engulfed in that
same tranquillising aura as well. But it was more than that..
the supposed glow wasn’t only forming around her it was coursing
through her, mending the worst of internal injuries right down
to even the tiniest of detail through explanation that went
beyond regular means of medical logic.
For the soundless minutes that followed the feline would feel a
sensation more or less the equivalent to being slowly soaked in
warm water as her punctured long reverted back to its healthy
state and her broken ribs reconnected themselves at a pace that
could only be the result of magical ability intervention.
Conventionally with the severity of her injuries she should have
been taking up to six to eight weeks to heal but because of
Sonya weeks of painstaking recovery was being sped up to mere
minutes. Not to say that the severity of the felines injuries
weren’t taking a toll on the currently emotionally venerable
doctor. Because of how fatal they were she was channelling more
healing energy than she’d managed in what felt like a very long
while. Tremors rippling across her body during the process Sonya
was so engrossed in the purple ones recovery that she barely
noticed the blood that had steadily began to tickle from not
only her nose, but her closed eye lids. This being the sign that
she was at a warning point she was pushing beyond her limits and
paying for the price for what she was gifted with.
Eventually the mesmerising blue glow would find itself fading
from the pair of them, and when it did if fully successful the
lavender cat would not only feel fully refreshed but she’d be in
better condition than before she came in. Weakness flooding
through her body, as her healing energy vanished Sonya found
herself on her knees, looking ironically more like the invalid
out of the two of them now. Her large fluffy ears pinning flat
against her head as a combination of her blood and her tears
dripped onto the floor, she balled her hands into tightly
clenched fists. The reality of everything once again
overwhelming her. “Y-You .. couldn’t have faced him. None of
what your saying could of happened because-“ Her words getting
abruptly stuck in her throat, Sonya brought a blood covered hand
up to clasp the sob that was moments away from leaving her
mouth. Shaking her head over and over, Sonya found herself
rocking backwards and forwards on the spot, willing herself to
say it. “Sonic is dead. That despicable obese scumbag saw to
that.” Bitterness dripping from individual word, Sonya felt her
insides twist and churn with hated and agony anew at the mention
       of the overlord.

"Did I not? No... That is impossible." She snarled, a surge of
pure rage burning in her heart as she leaned forward. "I could
FEEL the winds of fate that were blowing between us. That was no
copy. That was no fake. I FACED SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!" She
declared, knowing full well she wasn't lying or wrong. "I will
not have my destiny be overwritten by that man's lineage once
again!" Her eyes flashed as she thought of Nega's smug grin that
MOCKED her. She shuddered with rage, those golden irises being
broken away for a moment to reveal blaring red light. As
Empress' strength returned her control over her temper slipped.
She dug her claws into the bed she lay on as she tried to hold
her fury back. A pulse of black fire blinked around her form for
a split second as that red glow hummed in her eyes brighter and
brighter. It was that same feeling she had right before the end
of the fight. That desperate fury.
The flames that killed Sonic the hedgehog.
She gnashed her teeth that red light in her eyes blaring
ominously as she felt SOMETHING trying to force itself out of
her body once more. She stumbled forward as she tried to stand
up to steady herself. "That Eggman and his lies!" The cat
panted, thinking back to the descendant of his she was forced to
fight for so many years. "It must have been him. It had to have
been a trick! He's up to something." Her eyes slowly started to
return to normal as she breathed and rationalized her fury.
"This has to be some scheme to sow chaos so he can conquer your
land while you are all divided in the fallout. I know I saw the
real Sonic he's still out there." She turned to face the window
where her bloody handprint had been. Their fight still fresh on
       her mind
"...I won't let him get away with it." She declared, softly,
before she turned to Sonya. The cat knelt down to be on the
doctor's level as the girl sobbed.
"But more importantly... Even if I'm wrong, I'll still swallow
my pride and I'll still stop him." She gently wiped away the
girl's bloody tears with her hand as she carefully cupped the
underside of her chin with her mecha hand "I'll turn that
bastard to glass for making good people like you cry. I
       promise."

moment the other females voice raised. Noise increase was
something she’d learned to deal with tactically over the years
but in this state of emotionally vulnerability not a chance. How
odd she must have looked now just sat in what felt like a puddle
of her own blood mixed with her tears her legs pulled tightly
into her chest while the cat ranted along the lines of how she
felt cheated and struggled to keep composure all Sonya could do
was stare at her bleakly. Ordinarily at this point she would
have tried to defuse the felines temper with logic and
rationalisation but for this there was none. Hearing her
speculate about how all of this just had to be part of some
scheme conducted by the mad doctor sparked embers of hope within
her but she dared not let them burn to bright. Sonic was gone
and the sooner she began trying to accept that the better off
she would be and yet.. she clung desperately to that glimmer of
hope that despite all odds that the impossible maybe could be
possible? “I know I saw the real Sonic he's still out there."
That one sentence currently her unstable anchor. She was already
beginning to feel her bottom lip quiver when the kitten dabbed
away the worst of her tears and cupped her chin with a
tenderness that surprised her. She blinked once maybe twice at
her comment opened her mouth to protest but then closed it. She
knew that thinking this way was horrid and selfish but she
couldn’t help but relish at the idea of Robotnik suffering by
any means necessary. And though she didn’t really know a lot
about this version of Blaze she was still appreciative of her
gesture. “Thank you.. um.. what is your name? i feel like
calling you Blaze is just confusing and partially
disrespectful..” Not really thinking the fennec found herself
wrapping her arms around the purple one and cuddling her close.
Only after she’d carried out the embrace did it occur to her
that this woman probably wasn’t big on hugging or physical
contact in general but she needed to feel close to someone right
now, even if only for a short amount of time.

The cat seemed to smile with a brighter expression as she saw
those tears dry up. She owed this girl for saving her life, but
the feeling that compelled her to comfort her in the only way
she really knew how to. At the fox's question the cat was taken
aback for a moment. She never really had to think about it, who
would in her place? Though given how the Power of the Stars
worked part of her assumed it'd be an inevitable now that she
had been faced with it. "Since I believe your Blaze was still a
princess when you meet perhaps I should just go by Empress." A
soft smile crawled on her lips as she uttered that. She shook
her head a bit, forcing a laugh as she instead turned her gaze
down. "I know how presumptuous that must sound, but that's
honestly the first thing that came to mind." Her smile turned
into a smirk as she moved her hand gently down to Sonya's
       shoulder.
"But I've probably earned the right after I saved my world." She
stood up, placing her mechanical arm behind her while offering
her other to the fox. "I intend to save your world the same
way." A fiery memory greeted her, one that she'd never be able
to let go. "I'll finish what he couldn't." She paused, her tone
going a bit cold as she vaguely recalled the finale of their
fight. The moment where she was collapsed, beaten, and broken
under his mercy. "And then? Then I'll watch the sun rise on a
grateful world, before moving on." Her words, while meant to be
inspiring for the poor girl, hid a darkness to them. In that
moment: Sonya might be able to see a quick flicker of hate flash
in those golden hues. Though it was accented by an overwhelming
       sorrow.
       What had she lost?
...Was what she gained worth it?

"Since I believe your Blaze was still a princess when you meet
perhaps I should just go by Empress." As if sensing that the
purple furred feline was smiling Sonya craned her neck upwards
in time to see just that. Her smile seeming infectious the fox
medic found herself mirroring her with a small smile of her own
that smile only intensifying as the purple one continued. “Oh
not at all I mean if it’s what your’re most comfortable being
addressed as than I’m more than happy to comply.” The weight of
the other females hand on her shoulder bringing her a fleeting
means of comfort she watched her stand and when she offered her
free arm she didn’t hesitate to take it. Goodness knows she
needed the physical support after the amount of blood loss she’d
suffered. Gathering herself back to her feet at a much slower
pace, she waited until her surroundings had stopped tilting,
before she brought her full focus back to cat.
And when it was she wasn’t prepared for what she heard or saw.
Her veins turning to ice as she talked, she found herself
anxiously sinking her teeth into her lower lip. She couldn’t
understand how words that held such promise and hope could make
her feel deeply concerned at the same time. That flash of hate
in her golden hues accompanied by a sorrow so intelligible that
it caused her insides to tortuously churn. She found herself
tentatively reaching out a hand to cup the felines cheek. Her
expression stripped bare of anything other than the sorrow she’d
caught a glimpse of. Stood with face still tear stained and
dried blood scabbing over into the mix the fennec doctor
currently looked like the headliner for a funeral but her
appearance was the last thing her mind in that moment. “I’m
sorry-“ Feeling herself getting rapidly choked up from the
onslaught of sudden emotions, she forced herself to finish. “I
can’t stand here and pretend that I know what you’ve been
through. But what I do know is that you do not deserve all the
pain and suffering you’ve experienced. Not a moment of it."
