Mendacious Assassination for Hire (Rosie and Karahl Only)
By: Rosie the Echidna Date: June 20, 2019, 5:08 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       [attachimg=1]
It was super early in the morning, just nearing the crack of
dawn outside of the Mystic Ruins jungle. The area was shrouded
with the dark cover of the night as nearly all of the diurnal
creatures were still asleep. A soothing layer of silence aside
from the rustling of trees in the nighttime breeze drowned out
any sign of subtle activity that may have emerged within.
Perfect timing for discrete operations to take place.
In a secluded sector beside the start of the jungle, a wall of
mountainside neighboring a border of trees, there were be one
Mobian jungle dweller that was not asleep like all of the
others. The night's void revealed little of the means of
identity. Only through the little light provided from the third
quarter moon above were a few trace characteristics of the
sentient shadow revealed. Though the mystery being still bore a
black silhouette, a pair of pointed, curved ears and bushy tail
were also present, giving cues of a canine creatures, such a
fox. Its back seemed to be turned towards the jungle, not
moving from its spot in the duration of half an hour since it's
been there. It seemed as if it was waiting for someone,
providing a sort of a rendezvous point. The only question is
was who was it waiting for? Better yet, what was it up to?

((Set after 'Ire As cold As Ice'))
The quiet whispers of rustling leaves and gentle breezes was but
a mere waltz for the silent steps of a prowling Mobian. A tall
and slender tiger strode onwards with her chest ouffed out with
pride and arms crossed behind her with professional discipline
for among the shadows she was unseen with the assistance of her
dark grey uniform with splits along the arms and legs to reveal
silver-white fut streaked with black stripes, a hardened mask
which was custom-fit snugly around her face, cold cyan-blue eyes
which loomed over it and her long and sleek tail trailed without
a sound behind her. She was not a stone that disturbed such a
tranquil mirror of dawn but blended in with the mere ripples of
such a peaceful time in the jungle.
Soon enough she came to a halt several feet behind the vixen
Mobian and didn't say a word. Under the dim lights of the moon
and stars her cyan eyes reflected the light like eerie twin
lanterns in the dark... simply waiting.
       Right on time.

The shadow's ears appeared to have twitched to the sounds of
steps coming from behind her. However, it didn't even move an
inch as the feline approached her, not at all disturbed by the
second active soul lurking within the darkness. It was almost
as if the pitch-black being was expecting such company in her
presence. A moment of silence would mute out an immediate
reaction, allowing the rather ominous ambiance to accompany them
for a brief period of time...until the fox finally spoke.
"So, you have arrived," The living shadow says, revealing its
enigmatic female tone to its visitor. "Admittedly, I am a
stranger of enlisting the aid of a mercenary such as yourself
but I am hoping you are the one that will help me do what needs
       to be done..."
Remaining cloaked within its ebony cover in the night, the vixen
would casually raise its left arm before emitting an audible
snap from its fingers. Such a sharp sound proved to be
instigation of an unforeseen enchantment as a glowing shroud of
purple energy, giving off the essence of chilling dread, is
conjured right in front of the tigresses eyes. In an instant,
the dark energy would morph into a brown piece of parchment
covered in the same amethyst radiance, set to magically float in
place until the visitor made a move to grab it. If Karahl were
to inspect it closely, she would find that the paper was
actually a wanted poster with promise of a reward of
ten-thousand. The poster's main presentation, as well as key
source of information, was the picture of the suspect in the
center: a pink echidna girl with turquoise eyes, a yellow muzzle
and short, tomboyish bangs of hair tied down with a white
       headband.
       "Your target."

       ---------------------------------------------------------
When those first words were stated Karahl silently nodded in
response, regardless of being seen or not and remained quiet as
she listened intently. Her eyes carefully watched when that left
hand was raised and was painfully wary of her surroundings -
just in case, she knew all too well from experience that letting
one's guard down when meeting with a client was but a folly.
Soon enough that dark, chilling energy had materialized before
her, the tiger instinctively leaned back on her heels ever so
slightly; and it wasn't because of the feeling of dread which
radiated from it. Karahl then reached for the parchment with her
right hand, extending only her index finger and thumb then
       clamped the tips of her talons to one corner of the parchment;
minimizing the area of contact, like it was diseased and only
when the parchment was pulled out from the void she held it in
       her hands properly.
The assassin inspected the wanted sign carefully, memorising the
echidna's face down to the last detail and took note of the
reward before raising a brow and looking back up at the Vixen,
"Only ten thousand? Must be a small problem if only a scare is
required." the tiger remarked with her usual respectfully-cold
       tone.

"Oh? Displeased with the offer, are you?" The fox would
respond, her tone carrying not a hint of surprise but more of
slight confusion. "However, I implore you to not take this
matter lightly. That girl may appear docile...but she is a true
menace. She is the rogue warrior of my native land, Roselia
Shaolin. She roams the far regions of Mobius, spreading nothing
but fear, death, and despair to whomever crosses her path. Many
innocent people and valiant warriors have fallen to her power.
Rarely have those who encounter her live to tell the tale. This
girl has brought beyond excessive amounts of pain and suffering
to my people...and it must end today. The time is far overdue
for her to face justice for the atrocities she has committed.
My sources indicate that she resides in this very jungle, deep
in the remote regions of the Mystic Ruins. Your job will be to
find Roselia and bring her back here, dead or alive. Use
whatever means necessary. Do that right..."
The shadow then moves its left hand once more, this time in a
motion that looks as if she's shooing someone away. As she did
so, the same eerie, purple glow pulsed from her hand, which
remotely transfered onto poster Karahl was holding, specifically
the bottom region where the reward was displayed. Manipulating
the article of information she summoned herself, the number is
promptly undergoes a period of transformation as it shifts to a
different form in the shape of a new reward amount: five hundred
thousand Mobiums. The vixen had taken the tigress's concern
into consideration and multiplied her previous offer by fifty,
as per the importance of the mission.
"...and a pay increase can be arranged, without question."

By: Karahl Date: June 22, 2019, 3:45 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
For the duration of her career Karahl had dealt with all types
of 'characters' and admittingly a lot of them were rather shady
or mysterious. Each of them had their own motives be it
personal, political gain and so on; the tiger was mildly
surprised that her client had chosen to elaborate further and
remained respectfully silent as she listened. The njnja was
unphased by the supposed atrocities Roselina had committed -
standard stuff - all she had to worry about was to hit her
target and get paid; everything else wasn't her business.
The tiger's tail gently dragged along the ground behind her to
the side with interest at the sound of the price change.
'That's more like it.' she thought.
So it was a retrieval job, regardless of the target being dead
or alive, sounds interesting enough. Given the information her
mysterious client had offered and drastically increased the
reward it seems that it was more likely that she will bring
Rosie back alive... but only time will tell and see how things
       turn out.
Karahl nodded once, "Consider it done. I will return shortly."
she replied simply as she retreated backwards into the dark
depths of the jungle and before long she was gone, faded away
like a vanishing ghost as she began her search for the echidna.

The shadow remained silent, still not making a move to turn
around as Karahl left the scene to hunt down her target. A few
moments after the briefing was finished and the tigress was no
where to be seen, the the fox still kept itself right where it
was, it's tail lightly swishing through the night's ebony
       shroud.
'...Excellent. Everything's going precisely as planned,' The
fox monologues to herself within the privacy of her own
subconscious. 'This might just prove easier than I suspected.
All there is to do now is wait, then when that mercenary comes
       back with the bounty...'
At that moment, a pair of sinister purple eyes would poke out
from the shadow's front in contrast to it's pitch-black facial
area. It would give off an eerie hint of illumination, like
that of a monster hiding under a child's bed.
'I'll give her a reward, alright. Heh heh heh...'
The sun would finally start to rise to banish away bits of
darkness at a time with the crack of dawn. Every aspect of the
jungle would gain a much brighter hue than before for the sun
was there to give nature its wake-up call. However, before the
light would pierce its way to the fox's hiding spot, the dark
being would already be gone, disappearing in a black, murky
       haze...

Morning's blessing would soon lift fully lift the spirits of the
once quiet Mystic Ruins, bringing with it the bright renewal of
a new day. Life had been restored within the jungle as the busy
chatter of birds and critters filled the air and the sun's rays
shine over the tree canopy. This was the true essence of
nature's beauty, perfect for those who live quiet lives away
from the busy city scene. As the jungle was now fully awake for
the morning, one Mobian was taking advantage of the Mystic Ruins
abundance. ...No, we're not talking about Tails, here. This
one resided within deeper into jungle, in the remote regions
that not many people traverse through.
In the an clearing in the jungle, hording a bunch of wide, open
space near the cool atmosphere of a flowing lake, Rosie the
Echidna was up an at 'em once again. A new day for a warrior
like her meant another chance to train, another chance to better
herself as a fighter. The young girl couldn't await it any
longer, obviously depicted by the fact that she was already in
her favorite, sleeveless black dobok with turquoise trimming,
with her headband snug around her forehead, black belt tied
firmly around the waist, and her shoes already off. In fact,
her footwear and the other supplies, tucked away in a turquoise
duffel bag she brought with her, were neatly placed alongside
the trunk of a tree, standing a few feet away from the lake.
Meanwhile, Rosie took her place at the center of the clearing
with her left foot rested securely on the soft grass below, her
right foot tucked against her left thigh, and both of her palms
pressed against each other over her flat chest. This stance was
actually a pose used in Yoga: the Tree Pose. As much as Rosie
loved to work on her combat techniques, as much as using them in
a real spar, she knew it was important to condition the body,
mind, and spirit first hence she was utilizing this Yoga pose to
tone her balance, stretch her lower body muscles, and as chance
       to meditate.
The warrior had planted herself in that very spot for the last
half hour, subsequent to several warm-up exercises, allowing her
spirit to be at peace while practically being one with nature.
Her eyes were calmly shut as the jungle breeze massages over her
bangs and quills, the ends of her headband fluttering behind
her. Having been undisturbed thus far, Rosie allows herself to
remain as she is for a liiiiitle] bit longer before getting
ready to shift to main event of her workout.

Karahl felt oddly at home; a primal feeling of belonging as she
slipped through the branches of trees as smooth as silk. It was
as though she were dancing to the jungle's natural tune, a foot
dared not to step out of place; leaving no unnatural
disturbances as the tiger prowled. Once the target was in sight
however, after a quick observation to confirm that it was indeed
Rosie going about her own business, the ninja's behavior changed
       very rapidly.
Suddenly three kunai shot out of the branches and headed
straight towards the echidna from behind! Not even the trees
stood a chance against the force put behind them for one of them
harpooned through one tree after the other; holes exploded in
frays of splintered wood as it went straight for her... surely
such a chaotic roar would not be missed and draw attention...
But alas! That was a diversion! For mere seconds after those
weapons were launched Karahl leapt out from the opposite
direction - also charging with tranquil urgency then attempted
to sucker punch the ambushed Mobian!

       ---------------------------------------------------------
After peaceful minutes of her spirit being at peace, her mind is
suddenly alerted to the shock of an incoming attack, behind her.
Rosie's eyes snap open and a gasp is released right before, as
if by instinct, she suddenly throws herself up into a backflip,
getting a glimpse of the sharp knives that tried to sneak up on
her as they sail underneath her airborne body. Just seeing one
of those kunai reminded her of a sight was all to familiar with
from her early training days: a ninja ambush!
Gracefully reuniting her feet to the soft ground in a crouch
while a spray of wood brushes against her face and hair, Rosie
immediately turns in the direction of where the blades came from
to try and find their rightful owner. Of course, when she
couldn't find anyone, the warrior knew she had to be on her
guard. If a ninja was in her training clearing, they could be
anywhere. Instead of letting her eyes scan the area around her,
Rosie makes a somewhat strange move and closes her eyes, not
even moving from her spot. She stays right where she as the
presumed danger lurks around her, seemingly leaving herself wide
open for when the tigress jumps out to attack. However, Rosie
didn't even have to look to know someone was now behind, since
she was able to sense her assailant's aura approach her
position. While the window to act against Karahl's sneak
attacks grows slim, Rosie's eyes snap open into a serious glare,
allowing her reflexes to kick as she suddenly shifts her body
sideways, leaning into a powerful side kick to nail her
attacker's chest and disrupt her surprise punch in one fluent
motion. Hopefully, this way she could push the tigress away and
give the echidna a chance to get a good look at the one would
       try to strike her.

While it was rather miraculous for an underaged teenager to miss
the three kunai and anticipate a counter attack which was
occurring at that exact split moment, Rosie would find she was
mistaken about landing the kick on Karahl's chest and soared
       straight through it...
       A hologram.
True she had sensed the presence of the tigeress but she wasn't
       exactly there but
       The hologram showed the slim figure of a feline of some kind;
her identity obscured by her black mask and uniform. It was
projected from a small device which lay on the ground; planted
at the last second during Karahl's first attack but she had
withdrawn from the strike midway through when Rosie had swiveled
around to kick. It was becoming apparent very quickly her
assailant wasn't taking any chances. A lot of preplanning was
       required with contract-hits after all.
It was likely that the echidna could still sense an apparent
aura Karahl had, and if she could Karahl was certainly still
nearby... somewhere constantly moving silently and in erratic
       patterns. Pausing, darting, climbing, dropping...
