When Sonic's pride was bruised quite literally he buckled over
in pain unable to respond, due to the sudden shock of the
attack. When she dug her claws into his ear Sonic screamed at
her, bellowing out in rage and pain. "Again with this! LEAVE MY
EAR ALONE, YOU FIREY HARPY!" Next came the electrical shock
which sent a surge of energy shooting through Sonic's eyes; his
blue pupils lit up as the electrical energy seemed to be adding
to his power. Seemingly unaffected by her built-in tazer, the
blue hedgehog smiled.
"Thanks for the juice." He responded before being tossed through
the wall. He sent flying through the display cases causing a
brilliant explosion of gold and valuable gems that scattered
across the ground as Sonic rolled onto his stomach. With the
glass and pearls being pushed across the floor by his form he
slowly pushed himself to his feet. His vision was blurry and
there was a deafening ringing in his ears, he tapped the front
of his head while taking it waiting for his senses to return;
after a moment his vision cleared and the ringing subsided.
Looking at his surroundings Sonic donned a cocky grin, he
couldn't have asked for a better location to use for an
advantage. He zipped around the store donning a tiara, a fist
full of rings and a gem in the centre of his forehead.
Donning a feminine voice Sonic daintily placed his hand upon his
chest and acted out his idea. "I'm the Supreme Ruler of the
Hellfire Empire. Pretty and prissy Princess Blaze. I'm afraid of
heights and act dreadfully formal. What is this a spec of dust
on my dainty gloves? For such treason, I will destroy all dust
in the universe. I have to rely on the Sol Emeralds because I'm
too weak to fight without a crutch." Sonic had to stop himself
from bursting out into laughter as he continued to rub Blaze the
wrong way. "I also have thunder thighs and terrible fashion
taste. Purple on purple? What was I thinking."
When her threat echoed across their battlefield the hero simply
wagged his finger and retorted. "Only if you can catch me first
and let's just be real, I don't see that happening."

Empress stared down at the blue hedgehog. Her eyes blared with a
vibrant golden light, blood pooled at the corners of her mouth,
and her stance absolutely radiated with an ominous aura. She
stood and stared for a moment, her brow furrowed and teeth
gnashed as she let Sonic go on and on with his tirade. Once all
was said and done, there was a deathly stillness that lingered
in the air. She kept her gaze locked on him, as if expecting
some sort of follow up. When there was none, her expression
shifted as her snarl sort of...Twitched.
"You..." Her voice quivered as her expression continued to
twitch. The Empress shut her mouth and covered it with her hand
as a loud SNRK escaped. "You look so dumb!" The cat laughed out,
finally letting her well of giggles escape. "By the gods you
look dumb!" She continued pointing a finger at him as she
laughed and giggled hysterically. "T-to think the hero of Mobius
is just a big dumb clown...I can't breathe!" She practically
wheezed as she nearly doubled over from her laughter. The cat
held up a hand, almost as if begging for mercy as her laughter
finally ended with a few stray chuckles.
"What in the gods names was that?!" Empress asked, with a
snicker. "And should I be concerned you were looking at my
thighs Mr. Needlemouse?" It was a curious feeling, laughing like
this. Normally she would get angry if someone disrespected her
in such a manner, but him? It felt different. Maybe it's because
she held some form of repect for him to start with but it could
have just been his charisma. Regardless, for the moment: it
seemed the Cat wasn't a rigid spitfire, she had shown a few
shades of her former self.
"Gods above...I don't know if I should introduce your face to my
heel or tip you."

Seeing her response Sonic raised an eyebrow before zipping over
leaving the jewellery he was wearing spinning in the air. Upon
closer inspection, he smiled placing a hand under his chin
nodding in approval. "Not the reaction I was expecting, but it's
good to know that clunker of an doesn't arm mean the rest of you
is just as robotic. Who knew you could laugh, I don't think I've
even seen the Blaze I know this carefree." When she made a
comment on what to do Sonic gave a lite bow before remarking. "I
take both cash and personal checks."
With his foe firmly off-guard he donned a cocky grin and belted
out. "It May be a dirty trick but if you think I'm letting you
off after opening the wounds on my ear again, you've got another
thing coming. Let's go for a spin." With that, the blue hero
curled into a ball and revved up kicking up dust on the spot and
flickering flames; he shot off at high speeds launching himself
into blaze like a spiked canon ball.

CLANG! The hedgehog would find he struck true yet he was left
spinning in place. The high pitched whine of grinding steel
filled the air as Empress was steadfast in holding the
spindashing hedgehog back with her mechanical arm. "It's not
really a dirty trick if you call it out hedgehog. Though I must
admit, I saw this coming even before you did." Her gleeful tone
shifted from a joyful giggle to a sadistic hiss. At least she
was still smiling? "Your friend Shadow did it better." The
Empress purred, adding one last insult before finally pushing
that spindash away and off course so his remaining momentum shot
past her.
"You mentioned something earlier, that I needed the Sol Emeralds
to empower myself? That I was too weak without a crutch?" The
Empress asked with a deadly purr as she casually lifted her
hand. Her wild smirk grew as she once again leaned her head back
to show off her glinting fangs and her burning eyes.
"Let me show you just how mistaken you are."

A hiss filled the air as it began to combust around the feline
creating laces of flame and intense bursts of heat. She stood
grinning all the while as this inferno of fire started to
crackle and explode around her form like the aura of a goddess.
The building around her began to crumble and break away letting
her blaze ignite the night sky. "I hope you're prepared to pray
to your god." With another shriek and hiss, the temperature
would drop drastically as the heat and flames was all sucked to
a singular point in her palm.
"I'm sorry though...I won't be listening."
A crack split the air as she fired her hyper condensed bullet of
heat and flame. With a wail the bullet would speed toward Sonic,
though he'd find that she angled the shot. She fired not where
he was but where she anticipated him to be. Regardless if she
predicted correctly or not: wherever the bullet hit a towering
pillar of force and fire would erupt in it's place, almost as if
it were a beacon of her fury given physical form.

Unfurling Sonic skidded backwards before rising to his feet. Her
new form and imposing statement mattered not to Sonic as all he
was focused on was her comparison of him to that foul black
hedgehog. "You think you're some kind of god? And you thought I
was arrogant. So did Chaos before I sent him packing." Sonic
said sternly as a surge of electricity was coursing through his
eyes. His entire body erupted into a fierce electrical storm as
blue lightning cracked and surged wildly in every direction.
"Don't you compare me to that trash. He was built in a lab to be
a weapon and I was born powerless. I earned every ounce of my
strength through trials and hard work. Now let me show you where
all that effort got me."
She may have anticipated his movement but Sonic didn't move at
all when the flames impacted. The fireball exploded at Sonic's
location seemingly vaporizing him on the spot as he wasn't there
when the dust had settled; not even a nanosecond later Sonic's
image appeared as if from thin air. He stood silently with a
determined look while his hazy image resolidified itself; Sonic
had sped up the vibration of his body to temporarily coax his
atoms into a state of excitement that allowed him to phase
through solid matter. Without even another word he took off at
such blinding speeds, he was invisible to the naked eye.
He would be impossible to track given the speeds he was moving
at however he did leave a flaming trail for Blaze to follow.
Once she caught up Sonic gave an annoyed look while tapping his
foot impatiently. "You kept me waiting! And you said you were
fast. Look I want to settle the score but with that kind of
firepower, I don't want the people of the city to become
endangered because of us. Now that's out of the way let's throw
down." Now out in the open fields beyond the city, Sonic took
off once again at blindingly fast speeds until he returned with
his assault. Zooming around his Sol double he struck her hard
and fast, with kicks and punches that would be impossible to
predict. After his rapid-fire assault, he zoomed around her with
such velocity he created a blue vortex reaching up into the
heavens to entrap her. The tornado that was whipped up caused
her flaming aura to flicker as the embers rode the wind; it
appears the blue blur was trying to snuff out her flames by
sucking out all the oxygen and possibly suffocating Blaze in the
process.

Empress had found herself in the center of that vortex, after
being beaten and battered by the hedgehogs flurry of kicks and
punches. Sure she had managed to evade or block a few, but that
surprise attack from the start had definitely slowed her down.
No doubt she had a few broken ribs slowing her down. The cat
fell to her knees as her fingers dug into the Earth while she
tried desperately to maintain her breathing. This was no good,
without her air she couldn't use her powers, she couldn't fight.
The cat knew she probably couldn't escape the vortex without
colliding into that blasted blue blur. This was torturous, his
suffocating vaccum would no doubt kill her if she didn't move.
So with a desperate shriek she got up and used all of the
strength she could muster to attempt to barrel through the
vortex. There was no doubt that she'd take a serious hit from
colliding with Sonic but she wwas strong and fast enough to
escape. She wasn't going to let herself die here.

The blue hedgehog seemed to narrowly avoid the collision by
jumping over the cat before returning to his run to maintain the
vortex. Her efforts were futile as her speed was no match for
Sonic's; meaning she'd have to try another approach. The
hedgehog quickly glanced over his shoulder seeing his target
weakening, seeing as he didn't want to kill her he had to be
very careful how long he kept her in this whirlwind for. Kicking
it up a gear Sonic ran even faster causing the currents to lift
Blaze into the air. "If I can levitate her to the top just as
she passes out I can stop her from choking to death. However, if
she gets stuck in here for more than two minutes it's game over.
Come on, man. Lives are on the line." Given the delicate
situation he put all his focus into trying to make the cat
ascend slowly enough that she passed out as she reached the top;
however, should he let her escape prior to passing out he'd be
back to where he started.

As the vortex persisted, Empress started to lose herself. There
wasn't anything she could do and the more and more the air left
her lungs the more she felt weak...The Empress was growing
desperate. How could this be? This blue rat was pushing her?!
Laughable! Inconceivable! RIDICULOUS!
The cat clawed at the earth as she began to lift up but
eventually there was nothing but sand left in her hand. Blaze
let out a hoarse scream as she rose to the center of the vortex,
when suddenly... Something snapped. As she floated there she
witnessed the world slow to a crawl until she finally locked
eyes with the Hedgehog. As her golden gaze clashed with his
electric blue hues she felt a heat burning in her chest. A
supernatural burning that swirled within her core as if nearly
suffocating her had awoken it from within. It was a spark that
refused to be snuffed out, and it's inense heat only began to
burn brighter the longer she looked into those blue eyes.
Her heart slowed to a stop... Her last breath escaped her
lips...And that Nova was unveiled.

With an otherworldly roar that caused all other sound to cease:
Empress' body ruptured and exploded with a spiraling aura of
flame that burned even without oxygen. The flame was so hot,
that the ground beneath them instantly turned to a puddle of
molten goo before raising up and hardening into a spire of
multicolored glass. Empress continued to roar out as her blood
began to pour out of her eyes like plumes of smoke. Gashes began
to rip out of her form spilling more of that vaporous, boiling
blood into the air as her flames grew hotter and brighter by the
second. She held out even as all moisture in the area had
instantly dried to nothing and the sky began to shift to a red
hue. Sonic, should he stay near her would begin to be severely
burned just by proxy as those flames continued to burn white
hot.
The aura then spread out, creating a pair of wings that
outstretched to annihilate the field even further, turning the
once lush grass to ash and glass. No doubt that everyone in the
city would be physically buckling under the heatwave that they
faced as a result.
Empress went Supernova.

When Blaze unleashed her fury the heatwave exploded outwards
destroying the walls of the vortex, that trapped the cat. With
the tornado dispelled fire erupted into the heavens painting the
sky crimson while the winds faded from existence. The force off
the blast sent Sonic flying off his feet causing him to come to
a tumbling stop; face down in the dirt he felt the rocks super
heating and pushed himself to his feet while the solid matter
became molten magma. Stumbling back to his feet trying to avoid
a serious case of hotfoot; Sonic dashed forward trying to escape
the towering inferno that bore the power of a dying star.
Blinded by the brilliance of the cosmic rays the hedgehog
shielded his eyes while trying to channel the energy he needed
to make his escape.
Thunder crashed in the heavens above striking the crimson sky,
while wild electrical patterns danced around Sonic's body;
channelling the energy into his feet he got ready to make a
break for it until he felt a scorching pain engulf his back.
Pain would be an understatement for the sensation Sonic was
feeling against his bareback, the only term that seemed fitting
now was annihilation. The wall of pure energy expanded entirely
engulfing the champion of Mobius. When the explosion subsided
and only the ground that had been terraformed into a reflective
wasteland remained along with some stray static that faded from
sight.
Sonic The Hedgehog was no more.

Blaze's supernova burned brightly continuing it's path of
destruction before finally...Just as quickly as it had
appeared... It snuffed out. The cat fell to her knees, agony
wracking her body as she desperately tried to stay conscious.
Her golden eyes fluttered as blood oozed from her fresh wounds.
She had to...Keep...Fighting...
It was all for not however, the Empress collapsed into a heap
letting herself be taken into unconsciousness as the expulsion
of such powerful energy was too much for her to bear. Her eyes
squeezed shut as she passed out. Victorious but broken.
Who will the spotlight belong to now?
