The city of Mobotropolis was home to many different curiosities
and wonders as a part of being the capital city. Among these was
it's library. It was a sprawling multi story building containing
multiple stories and histories bound in the pages of books upon
books that lined the countless shelves within. Despite it's
absolute wealth of knowledge, only a select few people seemed to
be using this valued resource at a time. Among them, was the one
and only Empress Blaze.
The regal feline was situated in a corner of the library by her
lonesome, reading. She had two towers of books, one on each side
of her. Each was precariously stacked and whenever she finished
one volume she'd just add it to the pile. She wasn't leisurely
reading a story, (though she did take great pleasure in it) she
was learning and studying. After all, as a wise man once said:
'If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the
result of a hundred battles.'
A dark smirk crossed the Empress' lips as she thumbed through
her current book. It was titled 'Cleddyfau Sanctaidd and Fiamme
di Distruzione: the Mythology of the Eurish Region' it was
definitely a captivating read, one that the fire lord was taking
to heart. So many possibilities...One could say they were
endless?
As she sat with her nose in her book and her tail flicking back
and forth as it was apt to do, she didn't realize that she might
not be alone in this domain of knowledge. Though given her
stature, she knew that no one would dare to disturb her...

The Empress's domain of solace would soon have its silence
broken by crowds of roaring fans as an obnoxious blue hedgehog
kicked open the doors and waltzed in. With a smug smirk, he
approached the front desk that was being manned by a lavender
cat who had her hair in a neat bun and her glaring eyes hidden
behind a pair of cat-frame reading glasses. Sonic smiled while
leaning upon the counter giving a flirtatious wink to the cute
librarian. "I'm here for the signing of my autobiography. Feel
free to let all the fans in at once, I can get this done
quickly." The lavender cat rubbed her temples lightly before
reaching behind the desk for the logbook.
"You'll need to sign.......Sir?" She seemed confused as her
celebrity guest had vanished. Walking out from behind the
counter she searched for Sonic only for her tail to stand on end
as a reaction to the shock of what happened next. Quite the
scaredy-cat she jumped onto one foot holding the sides of her
halter dress as Sonic's rabid fanbase came roaring into her
library trampling her in the process. Being shoved to the ground
she let out an annoyed meow while the entire group walked all
over her literally. She bit her lower lip as tears welled up in
her eyes, she looked down to her neatly pressed blouse with the
purple ribbon tied around the collar and sighed as she felt
around for her frames that had been knocked off her face.
Humiliated, hurt and worst of all dirty she just wanted to find
her glasses and get back on her feet; she however started softly
sobbing when a rather fat panda had crushed her glasses
underfoot. Hearing that all too familiar crack she was left
helpless on the floor of her own establishment looking for what
was left of her glasses. Meanwhile Sonic sat with his legs
kicked over a desk leisurely signing books while chatting with
fans. The blue hedgehog was unaware of the horrible act that
that had befallen the library's custodian and would surely have
helped her up if only he knew.
Spying the cold looking cat reading about mythology out of the
corner of his eye he waved her over. "Yo, Blaze! Over here. It's
your old buddy Sonic. You don't have to line up for autographs
just jam on over here." Sonic said happily not realizing it was
the Princess's dark reflection that was sitting in the corner.

"..."
Empress watched what happened with a cold stare, the rudeness
was absolutely disgusting! For what was the purpose of it? Hero
worship for someone who could only do half a job? It was
revolting and it made Empress sick to her stomach. She was going
to just let it pass and not address it, part of her told her to
just let him wallow in his own shallow pool of petty praise and
self indulgence. Hearing the silent sobs of the poor librarian
however...That was just too much! Slamming her book closed,
Empress stood up and brought the book over to the front desk,
only acknowledging Sonic with a sharp sideways glance as she
crossed to the desk. She might not have been the Blaze he had
met previously, but that look was definitely one that he'd be
familiar with regardless.
"Please, don't cry." She tried her best to seem calm despite her
growing fury. "I'll get you your apology that you are owed." The
lilac cat spoke,while sliding the book closer. "When you've
collected yourself, I'll be taking this one." The regal feline
uttered before pushing past the crowds of people.
A few of them recognized 'her' and gasped creating a few
murmurs. One of them, an overeager fangirl, was hyperventilating
while repeating 'ohmygosh' like it was the only thing she knew.
The fire lord rolled her eyes before walking up to the booth.
She looked to Sonic, her soft frown not lifting despite his
chipper demeanor.
"Sonic the Hedgehog." She spoke, almost as if the name was
unsavory. She had read about him and his acts of heroism. He and
his plucky band of resistance fighters managed to stop Eggman
and save the world after he had conquered most of it. It was
admirable, and worthy of praise. She certainly saw a lot of
herself in him, though she was unknowing that was because the
two had been fatebound. Still, despite what good she saw in him
it was eclipsed entirely by his reckless ego. Seeing his smug
face made her skin crawl.
"I believe you owe that girl an apology. Due to your lack of
decorum that tribe of knuckle-dragging morons hurt her in their
stampede. The stampede your recklessness caused might I add."
She practically hissed at him. The fire lord already had no
patience for faux heroes like this blue idiot.

When Blaze gave him that deadly glare he raised an eyebrow and
thought to himself. "Who pissed in her kitty litter?" Returning
his gaze to his old friend his eyes immediately turned to her
metallic claw, examining it's finer features. It looked nothing
like her other arm so she wasn't partly roboticized, the hero
managed to deduct. When she scolded him for his fans' actions
Sonic rolled his eyes retorting. "Since when am I responsible
for what other people do? Also one second." He held up a finger
asking for a moment as he zipped over to the trampled cat
helping her to her feet before placing her cracked frames upon
her face. Zipping back to Blaze he was about to give her a
mouthful before he paused that look in her eyes...............It
was the same look he'd seen in the eyes of every person who'd
ever taken a life. Instantly the faces of Robotnik, Infinite,
Chaos and that feline assassin he'd done battle with months
prior.
Taking a step back his friendly demeanour faded giving way to
caution. "You're not Blaze." He said bluntly before starring her
down looking to his fans. "Whoever she is, everybody here is in
danger. As much as I love an audience it's not worth the risk I
need to get them to leave."

When a regal voice called out to her Twinkle was touched; out of
everybody in her library, the cold cat was the only one to show
her kindness. Even the hero famous for his big heart did nothing
to ease her pain. She felt the embossed cover of the book that
was slid under her fingers recognizing the ancient tome. "She's
checking out Mythology of the Eurish Region? Who is she?"
Twinkle asked herself drying her eyes. She was amazed somebody
was going to get her an apology and stand up to Sonic of all
people, on her behalf. She blinked and before she knew it she
was back on her feet her cracked glasses hastily placed around
her skull in a crooked fashion. Taking a moment to adjust her
frames she got a better look at her saviour it was a purple
feline not unlike herself. Twinkle instantly took a liking to
the tyrant; everything from her refined speech to her choice in
literature fascinated the bookworm.
Looking down to her ruined dress, cracked glasses and dirty
gloves Twinkle shot a violent glare towards Sonic. The normally
timid cat was inspired by the actions of her new favourite
patron; her eyes sparked a deep violet hue and sparkling stars
formed around her fingers. She marched towards Sonic as if she
were on a warpath, her tail and ears standing as stiff as
boards. "I booked you to do a signing because I thought you were
a hero. I thought having you here would help spark a love of
reading for the rest of the community. I can see I made a grave
error in judgement....you are no hero." She then whipped around
to the crowd and hissed violently. "The lot of you are banned
from Twinkle's Tomes forever!" As she roared a starry aura
engulfed the customers levitating them into the air before
violently tossing them out into the street; she finished by
closing her fingers into a fist causing the door to slam shut.
She poked a finger into Sonic's chest barring her fangs as she
hissed.
"I see now you are just a fool whose major traits are arrogance
and egotism. You will pay for humiliating me in my own home."
She threatened before taking a moment to lower her head and bow
deeply to the cat who stood up for her. "You are welcome to stay
as long as you desire. Should I be of any further service you
need only ask. You have my deepest thanks for your kindness,
Miss." Directing her attention right back to Sonic she frowned.
"Let's see if you can outrun a black hole." She snarked then all
the light faded from the room for but a split second. When the
light returned a small swirling vortex started to form in the
disgraced librarian's paws.

"Enough." Empress ordered with the resounding 'clack' of her
heel.

"Starting a fight here would be needlessly destructive, there
are too many innocents, as dimwitted as they may be, that could
be harmed. You need to think before letting loose with your
power!" The Empress scolded the younger kitten as she unleashed
her fury in the form of a dark vortex. Whether or not Twinkle
would listen, Empress would return her gaze to the hedgehog, her
expression more amused than anything.
"I suppose perceptive shouldn't be added to your lofty list of
titles, blue blur." She smirked as she titled her head ever so
slightly askew to punctuate wickedness of her dark expression.
"You're only half right after all. I AM Blaze, but as your
friend Shadow more aptly realized...Multiverse theory is a
bitch."She slowly extended her hands, revealing the mecha
prosthetic fully as her wicked smirk grew into an almost playful
grin.
"I am the Supreme Ruler of the Hellfire Empire. A zone bound to
your own by the Power of the Stars." She explained as her hands
clenched, balling into fists. "I've maintained peace and
prosperity within my homeworld by eliminating chaos and
disorder. As is my duty as guardian. I would say the pleasure is
mine meeting you..." She paused as brief flickers of possible
pasts where the two clashed darted before her eyes.
"But the stories of your ego and self indulgence were grossly
understated."

Twinkle closed her palms causing the black hole to dissipate, in
response to Blaze's commanding authoritative tone. Sonic
breathed a sigh of relief, sweating bullets only a moment ago;
he could run faster than light but light could not escape the
swirling vortex of a black hole. Having taken a second to
collect himself the blue blur looked down Blaze's doppelganger
as she proceeded to lecture him. After she finished Sonic belted
back in a brash nature in his raspy voice. "I know what I am.
I'd rather be full of myself than a murderer. You may have
killed whoever stood in your way on your world, but now you're
on Mobius, you play by our rules." It seems Sonic's connection
to the timeline wasn't as strong as Blaze's, he recalled no such
memories however she sparked a vicious fire within him that
burned brightly the more these opposites repelled.
Pointing to himself using his thumb he gave a smug smirk and
punched his fist into an open palm. "You've read the papers, now
allow me to introduce the real deal. I'm Sonic, The Fastest
Thing Alive! In this universe or any other. Hero of Mobius,
Leader of the Knothole Freedom Fighters, friend to nature and
animals alike. Not to mention staunch defender of freedom
everywhere; so your tyrannical monarch shit won't fly here."
Stomping his sneaker down as if to challenge her imposing heel
clank Sonic smiled. "If you want Mobius you're going to have to
grow through me. Bigger cats than you have tried toots."

"Ho? Perhaps I was too quick to judge. Perceptive might be an
apt title for you after all Sonic." Empress smirked once more,
her golden eyes sparking with a hint of malice before they shut
as she shook her head. "You gathered all of that information,
those bold assumptions...Just be looking at me? I'm impressed."
She gave a haughty laugh despite her honesty. The pressure
between them continued to grow as tensions steadily raised.
"Or perhaps you can feel it too? Our bond." Her smirk grew into
a wicked grin as she shot her eyes open to meet his gaze.
Destiny was shining above them like a thinly veiled Nova. In
another lifetime they've already shared a dance in it's light.
Just like they'd waltz in this timeline. It was an
inevitability.
She brought her arms back to her sides as she closed the
distance between them with a casual stroll. The way she swung
her hips with each step made the approach almost sultry, as if
she were approaching a lover, though there was no love to be
shared. She stopped however as soon as she stood parallel to him
though facing the opposite direction.
"You may have gathered what I have done from your glance, but I
promise you cannot comprehend why. If you stand in my way I
swear: I will turn you to glass. My respect for the good you
have down will bring no absolution." She let her threat hang in
the air for a moment. Before she smiled ever so softly.
"Though, I'm curious to see how your will compares to mine."
With that she placed a kiss on his mangled ear before moving
toward the exit, fully expecting the hedgehog to follow after
her. The tension was nearly at a breaking point. Her heart was
pounding...She felt, excited for the first time in a long time.

When Blaze started swaying her hips like a siren trying to take
what she desired Sonic's eyes shot wide open. "What is it with
evil cats and me?" He let her threats roll over him like waves
crashing against sold stone, at this point Sonic had heard so
many of these personal delrecations of his destrction he saw
them more as the usual background noise of his life. Upon closer
inspection of his other wordly double he subtly smiled nodding
in approval; it wasn't the same kind of appreciation he felt for
Karahl however, it was more akin to admiring ones own
reflection. The hero seemed to enjoy the parts of himself he saw
in the cybentic monarch.
He was willing to let her leave but when she planted a spiteful
kiss upon his damaged ear he recoiled in pain. Biting his lower
lip to avoid screaming, Sonic shook his head and itched at the
tender area of his ear like a dog with fleas. "YOU B*ITCH!" He
howled out in pain trying to soothe the pain of his akillies
heel. If Blaze thought she was leaving here after a dirty move
like that she had another thing coming. In a whirr of white and
red Sonic's feet exploded into a figure eight, revving up on the
spot until he roared forwards utterly shattering the sound
barrier. In his haste Sonic grabbed starbound double by her
robotic arm and slammed her against the building oppsite the
street. Breaking the bricks behind with all the force he put
into that rush he smiled stepping back giving his enemy space to
revover.
"Teh, all this talk and you couldn't even avoid that? Some scary
overlord you turned out to be." The hedgehog taunted. Due to his
reckless abandon and weakness for poking fun at his foes, Sonic
had left himself wide open.

Empress hadn't expected that response. After being thrown into a
wall of concrete one might think that she was down for the count
after all it was one hell of a hit and she looked practically
embedded into the concrete. A deadly grin flashed on her face
however as she took a moment to giggle before she pulled herself
free from the wall. "Wondrous. You really are faster than me."
Her grin grew as a line of scarlet blood spilled from her busted
lip. Before he could react however she'd use that opening to
slam her knee into his crotch to stun him. "But you're no
warlord." She hissed her eyes glowing brightly.
Using that mechanical arm he so eagerly grabbed she'd dig her
claws into that ear she so lovingly kissed with a furious snarl.
The cat's snarl shifted to a bloody grin as she activated her
electric reach to send volts of electricity into his body
through his ear while she whipped the hedgehog around her. With
a bloodlusted cry, she slammed him, headfirst THROUGH the wall
he had already weakened with her body.
Chunks of shrapnel and concrete rained down into the jewelry
store shattering a few display cases as a brand new hole was
made in the concrete wall. "We'll see how fast you are when I
shatter your spine!" Empress jeered, before coughing up a bit of
blood herself.
