He shook his head "Horror movie's are okay, but they bore me,
its always the same thing every time I watch them" he grew tired
of the same formula they used in the movies wishing for
something different. Superhero flicks are always exciting to
watch, you never know if the hero will win or will the villain
will succeed their plan and there is a ton of cool action scenes
as icing on the cake. "Batman is the reason I watch superhero
movies, he can control his darkness and turn it into something
positive, driven by tragedy he helps people so they wont have to
suffer like he did, he has earned my respect" revealing his
personal favorite superhero.
His mood of course turned sour by his arch rival pushing hiim,
unsurprisingly he is trying to have a go at him..AGAIN. "First
off, I don't need my footwear to beat you, I'm the ultimate life
form. Secondly, you always bring up my past every time you show
up, you STILL haven't put two and two together by now? I cant
believe I have to explain this to you." trying his hardest to
control his temper, its clear he is agitated.
"I DID serve time in prison after I saved the world from the
black arms invasion, I turned myself in as a promise to the
Commander. One day he offered me a chance of freedom by giving
me an ultimatum, either I spend seven years in jail or I provide
my services for the military, I didn't join G.U.N because I
wanted to, I chose to work for them because I refuse to rot in a
prison cell, I'm going to keep my promise to Maria and protect
this planet whether you like it or not" getting into Sonic's
face. He's had it with this egotistical jerk ass
Thank goodness Sonya is here to get them to stop arguing, other
wise those two would've added another showdown of their list
"We'll settle this later" abiding her wishes.

Sonic crossed his arms as Shadow rattled on about his so-called
sentence. The blue hedgehog rolled his eyes, seeing Shadow's
role as a GUN lapdog as nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
"As far as I'm concerned, you already failed her when you
aligned yourself with Robuttnik." He muttered under his breath
following the two towards the ice cream parlour. "Fine,
whatever." He huffed ordering for the three of them before
stuffing the chocolate and strawberry cones into their hands.
The hero himself was enjoying a Sonic Sundae which featured blue
coloured ice cream shaped to resemble the cocky hedgehog's face.
He perked up a tiny bit after taking a bite, he gestured towards
his frozen treat with his spoon while explaining it. "Not bad
huh? It's not as handsome as the real thing but it's about as
close as you can get with a frozen dessert. I think the eyes are
gumballs and the teeth are marshmallows." Taking another bite of
his own icy visage Sonic pondered for a moment before asking
Sonya with a mouth half full of ice cream. "While the letters
brought me up to speed, I'd rather hear it from you directly.
What exactly were you doing over there?" He questioned curiously
while tapping his spoon against the glass bowl.

He may have muttered his snarky commentary under his breath but
she still heard. And under ordinary circumstances she would have
addressed her friends rudeness out right. His hatred for Shadow
while perfectly justified was awfully exasperating to be around
most of the time. He was just lucky that she was to tired to
snap at him right then. Still she somehow managed to keep
putting one foot in front of the other and sit herself down on
one of the ice cream parlour stools her punk styled boots not
quite touching the ground when she sat she ignored Sonics less
than social able attitude and gratefully accepted the strawberry
ice-cream cone that was placed in her hands. Taking a small lick
of her own frozen treat she felt better within moments and was
perfectly content to just sit savouring the fresh flavour.
Aware that Sonics ice cream of choice was having similar effects
on his mood she found herself managing a small smile and she
gave the appropriately timed nod when due when he went on about
his ice cream visuals. She wasn’t really in the moment
though but she was grateful for the company none the less. It
was only when Sonic started asking her questions about what
she’d been doing off world that she felt herself tense and
casually deflect. “It centred around a lot of research
really cognitive stuff. Nothing that interesting.” Forcing
peppiness into her tone, she flapped her free hand, and
purposely changed the subject knowing that her bestie
wouldn’t pass up a chance to be centre stage.
“Enough about me. What’s been happening with the two
of you? and everyone else here?”

The gang went to get some ice cream, Shadow's tactium
personality didn't allow him to speak for the whole trip. Didn't
help he is still pissed off his annoying rival trying to have
another go at him, always getting on his nerves, its impossible
to have a conversation without getting into an ego argument at
this point. Ice cream may not be his cup of tea but he will take
anything to cool him down. Him and Sonya were given regular ice
cream cones and Sonic earned himself an eye roll watching him
order a popsicle version of himself, as if his ego couldn't get
any higher.
"I was away at Chun-nun to find Eggman" answering Sonya while
licking the cold surface of the ice cream a couple times.

"Finding Eggman....trying to do my job now too, are ya?" He
muttered to himself. Sonic wanted nothing more than to drop the
glass dish he was holding and toss Shadow into the toppings bar;
however, Sonya had earned a moment of peace after being
off-world for so long. While thinking back over his week he
itched at the wound still fresh on his busted ear. "I ended up
running into this crazy cat who tried to kill me. Not the one
with the stripes from the war but somebody else. She looked like
Blaze only she wasn't. Some sort of alternate universe double I
think. Said something about bringing Mobius burning to the
ground. Probably nothing to be alarmed about, after all, I can
handle her but I worry about you guys."
Sonic had genuine concern in his voice for the others but for
himself, he felt excitement. "Honestly I can't wait to tussle
with her again. It's been so long since I've had a challenge
like that." The blue blur seemed to lose himself in the moment
as he recounted the battle. "The way she turns up the heat and
even the way she moved was awesome. A total step above Ol
Robuttnik and yet she somehow reminds me of him."

Listening intently as the pair filled her in on what she’d
missed she couldn’t help but blink in alarm when Sonic
mentioned that there was yet another feline opponent that wanted
to finish him off. Really she shouldn’t have been
surprised to those that didn’t really know him Sonic had a
tendency to rub people up the wrong way. Still it was reassuring
to know that at least things hadn’t changed much since her
departure.
“Well in all fairness Sonic it doesn’t take a lot
for someone to be better than Robotnik but i’m glad
you’re excited all the same.”
Giving a fond shake of her head she directed her attention to
Shadow. “Did you make much progress in finding everyones
lease favourite fat man?”

Shadow isn't too keen on repeating himself about the status of
his search for the doctor but alas he must oblige. Unlike Amy,
Sonya hasn't been around enough to know what's going on and if
Sonic wasn't here he would've most likely told her his whole
experience. The ultimate life form continued to lick his frozen
dessert, almost eating away the whole chocolate flavor of the
ice cream. "No but I'm working on it, a lead about his location
G.U.N discovered turned out to be a dead end" he probably gave
Sonic more ammo to fuel his ego but he didn't care, no reason to
make up a crummy excuse.
Speaking of his blue rival, he shared his story of his latest
exploits, his description about a cat resembling Blaze from
another dimension trying to slaughter him instantly brought up
that damn Empress to mind, that woman gave him a run for his
money, she managed to force Shadow to bring out the fruits of
his labor much to his chagrin. "Empress is still here? I thought
she returned to her dimension.." revealing his knowledge about
her.

"Yeah, she mentioned you by name." Is all he said while he
narrowed his gaze. Dropping the spoon into the empty dish, Sonic
set his bowl aside before giving a fake yawn. "Well, Sonya I'm
glad your back, drop by and see me some time." As he passed
Shadow he glared adding an annoyed pout to his expression. "As
for you....just stay the hell out of my way." He blurted out
bluntly as a warning to the freak of nature. Before he pushed
his way out of the ice cream store, not even bothering to run
off but instead walking away with his arms behind his head while
whistling a listless tune. Clearly, something that was said
bothered Sonic enough to the point where he could no longer keep
up his charade of acting civil towards Shadow.

“Sure thing. I’ll see you soon blue. “
Features creasing with concern at Sonics uncharacteristic
departure Sonya opened her mouth to say something, but then
thought the better of it. Chances were she was being paranoid
and that there was nothing seriously wrong with her friend other
than he’d just maxed out his short term tolerance to be
around Shadow without acting on his impulses to beat the black
hedgehog to a bloody pulp. For which she was grateful but there
was something unsettling about the way he left but for the time
being she was to exhausted to dwell much on it.
Letting a moment or so pass before she spoke again she fixed on
another polite smile in an attempt to mask her worry for the
blue hedgehog, finished up the remainder of her cone, then
proceeded to pull out the appropriate amount of currency to
cover the bill for all their desserts. “Ice cream’s
on me. Have a good evening Agent Shadow. And again sorry about
him..” Huddling into her mini leather jacket the fennec
was all to quick to make an exit of her own the bell on the ice
cream parlour chiming softly as she pushed her way out of the
building, disappearing into the night.

"Hmph.." Shadow snorted growing indifferent to Sonic's remark
before departing, the two ego-driven hedgehogs never get along,
nor will they ever become friends any time soon, its been like
this since the beginning and nothing will change that. Sonya
decided to follow suit in pursuing her own affairs, leaving the
black hedgehog by his lonesome. He nearly forgot about his
current mission as Shadow pressed a button to relay the news
back to commander tower. "Status Report" he demanded.
"Commander, I found the cause of those portal disturbances,
turns out Sonya Heart was away on an outer zone mission and
returned recently" he confirmed.
"One of those freedom fighters? If I had to guess she used a
warp ring to complete her assignment, thank goodness, I was
going to prepare us for a possible alien invasion, you and I
know how the last one went down, you can return to base now
agent Shadow"
"Understood, before you hang up I have a request to make"
"What is it?"
"I need a new pair of shoes, I'll explain when I get back"
hanging up his communicator, he activated chaos control to warp
back to headquarters.
