Backstory.
long before the war, Natalia was the sole survivor of the town
she grew up in. One of the first victims of Eggmans many reigns
of terror even after Sonic had defeated him. Despite the galaint
courage of the fighters against Eggman back then, her village
was not saved and was razed to the ground, the majority of its
inhabitants killed or robotizer by Eggman. She never understood
why she was so fortunate. Her parents hid her and gave their
lives so she could live, but others, so many others had taken
the price of her survival. She was an empty husk, weighed by the
guilt of being the only one alive as her dreams haunted her of
her village being destroyed and everyone, her parents too,
turned to evil machines by Eggman. Hiding in the debris, she was
found by wanderers, seeking those who survived and bringing them
to Sanctuary.
Sanctuary was a orphanage of many, children, teenagers, even
adults who had lost their family. Through many wars with Mobians
and Eggman, people came and left sanctuary, constantly changing
the face of those who stayed but the eyes of despair and dread
always remained.
As Natalia grew up in Sanctuary, the keepers raised her as one
of their own, they knew she was one of the few who had no family
to return to, and like others among her, were taught to care for
sanctuary. Natalia had an affinity for cooking, the taste and
smells causing bliss for her as she'd work in the kitchen making
meals for everyone. She also was good at cleaning and learned
many useful skills as a housekeeper. As time grew on, Natalia
got older, learning more about the world outside, venturing to
town and meeting new faces.
The one thing Natalia looked forward to always was the arrival
of the traveling caravan. They were explorers, salvagers,
performers of the arts and many other unique characters. Natalia
was drawn to this instantly, finding great joy in the feats and
stories they told. Something called her to this group, she
wasn't sure what, but something deep down told her to go, so she
did, sneaking on one of the last cars to leave the sanctuary. It
didn’t take long for her to be found out and the troupe was
rather cross with her for being a stow away. However, with a few
choice words and showing her skills for cooking and cleaning,
the troupe decided to keep her, setting her among the others who
worked in the food carts, allowing Natalia to expand her
horizons on various dishes from all over Mobius. In addition,
the caravan fighters who would ward off rouge Robians and other
dangers trained Natalia. The feline, being what she was
naturally, had a keen sense of cunning and speed. She was quick,
agile, and above all, use to bearing her own weapons. A few
times when stray beasts would chase after the caravan, Natalia
and the rest of the guard would answer immediately, and the
feline often got the first dispatches of the day.
As Natalia continued to learn with the caravan, she was able to
see a side of Mobius she hadn’t before. Where one had been
raised away from the destruction of war, now she was being
showed what had become of those as a result. Families mixed with
flesh and machine, cities slowly rebuilding from the damage
done, but still much of habitable sectors lay in ruin. From town
to town, Natalia could see the destruction but also the rebuild
and growth of those who lived dwelled in it. It was here she met
Silver...and the adventures would begin. Silver presented
himself as a technician, with an augmented limb, he was more
than capable of handling the toughest robin mechanical issue and
seemed to have a way for the work he did. Natalia took an
interest, watching him work on the caravan occupants who needed
a long awaited repair for their limbs. It was a blessing for the
carvan who lacked such an expert, and all Silver asked in return
was a home, and they were happy to give it.
Natalia and Silver worked in tandem with one another, be it fate
or something else, they had started to grow closer, almost like
siblings. Residing together on their own cart, the pair would
venture out into the ruins still about from Eggman, finding many
prizes to take back to the caravan to sell and to use for
repairing the occupants of the caravan. It was a quiet life, but
even the quiet would change. One evening, Natalia had done a
little scouting and found a Eggman facility that had been
abandoned, yet was still active. Silver was rather curious,
perhaps seeking to find better salvage for them as he and
Natalia left, only to end up being trapped by Eggman and his new
lackey, a drakess of black and red. Despite Natalia’s best
efforts to free her and her companion, the Drakess was more than
a match for the two of them, taking Natalia down with a whip of
her tail and sending her into Silver, rendering both
unconscious. When Natalia awoke, she found herself sealed in a
glass chamber, struggling with her arms and legs and even her
tail were restrained. She watched, unable to look away, the slow
transformation of Silver from her once cherished friend to a
Robian machine under Eggman’s control. Soon, she took began to
feel the electrical charges course through her body as her limbs
were changed. Flesh tore away for the machine as she struggled
to free herself, fighting the pain as her arms and legs and tail
were chained to the machine as the robotization slowly crept
closer to her body, closing her eyes as she began to cry.
Suddenly, the pain ceased, and Natalia found her limbs suddenly
free. Collapsing to the floor, she looked up to see Silver
smashing the glass, and then firing at the terminal, causing the
process to go haywire. The Drakess had been beaten back when he
went bezerk as the canine passed one last look at Natalia. The
feline clenched her fists, calling Silver’s name one more time
as he looked away. Natalia knew he was succumbing to the change,
she had to book it, making her way out the fasted way possible,
up through the vents and out of the chamber. Escaping to the
surface, Natalia kept running, running and running until she
escapes the facility she had been trapped in, below the
‘abandoned’ Eggman structure she had thought was a prize worth
taking, now seeing it almost being their execution.
Returning alone, the caravaners were shocked to find Natalia so
badly broken and changed. To many, use to seeing Robians and
partials alike, were shocked to find the bubbly, gitty feline
now somber, having been altered so...drastically. All four limbs
and her tail had been changed; such a rare occurrence to survive
from was...almost unheard of. But they did not shun her, instead
of disgust and angst, they surrounded her with love and warmth,
caring for the poor girl and bringing her inside. Many among
them too had suffered the same fate, and none wanted this girl
who had been a becon of laughter and light to dim. Natalia felt
at peace...until someone called out there was another robot
approaching.
Natalia looked up as those around her gazed out the window, to
their surprise it was Silver, but the moment his name was
spoken, Natalia shot up. She insisted they must leave, now, but
the others were puzzled. A friend he was, why should they run.
"Because he was no longer one of our own." Were the words that
left Natalia's lips as lasers suddenly erupted through the
caravan, shots hitting and sparking the lightly armored
vehicles.
Fighters drew arms and began to engage Silver, crude slug
throwers and laser weapons shot round after round, all deflected
as the canine deployed a shield from his left wrist, creating a
rectangular shield before materializing a weapon in his right
and firing back, nailing the fighters in critical parts for a
instant death. There was no remorse with him as Silver moved
closer to the convoy as others bore arms against him, trying to
defend their home. Seeing this, Natalia felt a deep anger inside
her, stepping outside among the others, she readied herself.
"You monster, how could you do this, how could you turn on us!"
she cried as she charged into him, not sure what made her, but
something inside her said to fight, she had to, or die.
She fought him, her speed and agility allowed her to close in
quickly, noticing that even as a robot, Silver was slower than
her, and she'd use that to the fullest. Moving in and striking,
she'd lash at him, finding his armor to be tougher, and his
shield making it hard to land a critical blow. In, strike, leap
out, this tactic was the best she could do, blinded by anger,
she kept fighting as the others jumped in to help. One by one,
they were defeated, and the cracking of bones echoed as they
were torn apart, yet each time Natalia fought, she was merely
tossed back, as though he was toying with her. Continued to be
fueled by rage, Natalia jumped in one last time, only to be
caught by her neck mid leap. Grabbing his arm to free herself,
he held her up there, glaring at her with his cyan eyes before
he'd slam Natalia down hard onto the floor, planting her into
the ground with first a throw, and then his foot to keep her
down. Snarling, Natalia tried to get up, but was pinned again,
finding the canine's strength to easily overpower her own. With
a kick, he'd throw her onto her back in the dirt, causing the
feline to cry out and growl in pain.
Gazing down at her, and through words, she could only understand
as static, he leveled his weapon at her head before firing.
Natalia closed her eyes, but felt nothing; was, she dead?
Opening her eyes, the mechanical monster had missed, turning and
leaving her alive as he vanished into the wilderness again.
Being alone had been far gone for her, but here she was...full
circle...what was a feline to do then?
She gazed skyward, the orange, white, black and steel feline,
laying in the mud of some forsaken wastes, her home burning
still ahead of her as the caravan fire had begun to dwindle
since she had watched it and everyone else come alight with the
flames of wrath from her one friend she had thought would never
change. Alone...after so long of being surrounded by love,
Natalia kept her chartreuse gaze upwards, watching the stars
twinkle and light the night sky. Slowly, she sat upright,
looking at the wreckage of her once nomadic home, the bodies
long since vaporized or burnt to a crisp, she was lucky the
scent didn't get to her, everything immolated in the brilliant
blaze fired by a single creature. How powerful was he now? How
was such a weapon even available to a grunt like that... Natalia
grumbled and pounded the dirt to her side, finding no pain in
return along her metal arm.
The limbs....her arms, legs, even tail were all devices of
torment and death; devoid of their warmth and softness. The
clawed hands were menacing, evil looking, and no doubt devices
to cause only pain and suffering. She hated them, she hated
herself for failing so hard, and she hated Silver for falling to
Eggman. Inside, she knew he was still trapped in his mind, by
all rights she SHOULD be dead, but he spared her...to torment
her, or kept her alive so she could do something for him? It was
another testing uncertainty the feline had and she wasn’t happy.
She decided to sort herself out, there was little she could do
grumbling and moping, she’d have to get moving, cyborg or not
she was still mostly organic and she needed clothing, food and
shelter. Among the ruins of the convoy, there were only a few
vehicles left, with the occupants...her family...dead...there
was no point for their contents to go unused.
Stepping inside one of the untouched vehicles, she began to
search around for supplies, gathering whatever was usable,
Natalia stuffed a bag of foodstuffs and other things. A handgun,
some ammo, a repair kit (for her robotics), a map, and a few
other odds and ends as she’d toss the bag to the side. Going
through a closet, she looked for some clothing that would fit,
but with her augments as they were, most clothing
was…inadequate. Shuffling through what was available, she found
a leotard, it was thin, but still well insulated and would cover
most of her organic parts. Aside from that, she also found a
vest, putting both on gave her some comfort, but she wondered if
it would be enough. There was a thick jacket there too as she
grabbed it, putting it on an gathering her things, she’d look
around one last time, the final remains of the place she called
home now gone, she set out into the world once more, wondering
just what she might find.
Skills:
Computer hacking and Maintenance
Cooking
Weapon Maintenance
Weakness:
Water
Flying
Low Endurance
Technical notes:
Natalia's speed is increased, though she relies more of agility
and her dexterity to move about combat zones. Her augmented
limbs allow for considerable force in her attacks, however she
cannot exert herself too much.
