       Blood Ties
   DIR By: Scourge
       Date: January 1, 2019, 5:54 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Scourge had endured all but fifteen minuets of one of Sonya's
lectures before he tried to drown her out with the sound of
death metal coming from his sound system. The argument only got
more and more heated when the golden fox encased his speakers in
a barrier bubble, forcing him to hear everything she had to say.
The two bickered back and forth until Sonya decided to let
Scourge know she was less than pleased with the fact he didn't
get her a gift for the holidays but allowed her to shower him
       with lavish items.
Scourge seemed unphased by Sonya's efforts to make him feel bad
and finally decided to put an end to the argument. "I've agreed
not to kill your stupid friends and still you won't get off my
case. As for a gift for the holidays I've been working on
something that'll blow you out of the water I just needed some
extra time to work out the correct date, this shit is
sensitive." Pulling out a small note pad from his jacket he
looked over some numbers he'd scribbled down before tapping the
one that give him the opportunity he wanted. "I can't stand your
nagging a moment longer, we're jamming off right now if it'll
shut you up." With that said Scourge grabbed Sonya's scarf
gently wrapped it around her neck before taking her by the hand
and guiding her outside. The green villain dropped to all fours
before taking off at such insane speeds the resulting sonic boom
shook the street and sent Sonya flying across the road falling
into the bus station seat. Scourge zoomed past that same bus
station several times tearing up the pavement each time faster
than the last, the faster the hedgehog went the more unstable
reality seemed to become as waves of distortion echoed through
the air making it seem like the ripples on the surface of a
lake. It wasn't long before what seemed like ripples became a
big splash as Scourge passed the bus station for a final time
before exploding into a maelstrom of reality distorting energy
taking the form of a swirling vortex of purple power.
Skidding to a stop Scourge took Sonya's hand and guided her
towards the swirling vortex pulling her in before she could
protest. Venturing through the portal made one feel like they
were getting flung through the reaches of time as such high
speeds it felt like your skin was going to fly off. Stepping out
of the portal his black boots touched down on soft snow in a
forest setting likely not too far from the city, they were
hidden behind shrubbery south of a small village comprised of
humble huts. Placing his hand on Sonya's shoulder he guided her
into ducking as three figures rushed past them. The three
figures seemed to be a family of foxes all holding hands as they
trudged through the snow; between the parents was a golden
haired little angel with the biggest ears Scourge had ever seen.
He smiled and held back the branches of the bush to allow her a
better view before speaking very quietly. "I know this is going
to be a lot to take in but you can't talk to them or let them
know you're here but you can look all you want. I figured you'd
want a chance to see them again after all that sentimental crap
you said back at the hut. Sorry if I've seemed annoyed lately
but time travel isn't something that's easily figured out." He
told her with a whisper taking her hand in his tightly closing
his fingers around hers while the happy family beyond had gotten
       into a snowball fight.
It wasn't long until the father had nailed the little one with a
snowball a bit too hard causing her to cry, knowing her daughter
was ever the sensitive one the mother scooped her up wrapping
her darling in her pink jacket while she begun to sing a long
since forgotten song that lingered only in Sonya's dreams; her
soft voice carried the notes through the air giving her daughter
smile that soon turned to joyous laughter.

Everything that happened next was a surreal blur with hardly a
second to comprehend what was happening before she knew it she
was stepping out of a portal beside Scourge her own black boots
coming into contact with snow so soft that she felt herself sink
into it slightly. Not understanding what was happening at all
her expression displayed open curiosity for the surroundings.
Deep down Sonya knew this place, but at the moment she
couldn’t quite recall why. Before she could loose herself
further in her hurricane equivalent of thoughts she allowed her
boyfriend to steer her out of sight just in time to watch as a
family of fennecs rushed past them. Leaning forward for a closer
look, after Scourge held back the bush branches for her, at
first the trio didn’t seem out of the ordinary to Sonya it
was a captivating sight actually a happy little family of three
out for a walk but then as the minutes ticked by and realisation
and recognition struck her at the same time it took every ounce
of self-control she possessed to stay put and actually listen to
what the green hedgehog was telling her, but listen she did.
Being told that she couldn’t talk to her parents or reveal
her location was a hard pill to swallow but she reluctantly
reasoned with herself. After all this wasn’t Scourge being
malicious it was simply common sense. What he’d done for
her was phenomenal, outstanding, totally unbelievable the least
she could do was take heed. Her large fluffy ears flickering in
time with his hushed words she gave a barely audible nod in
response. She was so transfixed on watching the care-free family
frolicking around before her it was a wonder she heard him at
all. It was only when she felt the warmth of the hedgehogs
fingertips spread through her own did she manage to pull herself
from the haze she hadn’t been aware she was in. Tears
spilling soundlessly down her cheeks, she found herself
squeezing his hand back hard as if trying to draw strength from
the small intimate action, making sure she kept her reply to
equally shushed tones she responded with a murmur.
       “Scourge I can’t believe y-you-“ Hearing the
emotional tremor creep into her tone she took a couple of
minutes to compose herself before continuing. “I
can’t believe you did this for me.” Hearing him
apologise for his irate behaviour sure did cause her large ears
to droop. “You shouldn’t be the one apologising when
you’ve been putting something this wonderful together this
whole time and I’ve been whining because you didn’t
get me a stupid necklace for the holidays. You must think
       I’m the worst girlfriend..”
Blinking more tears she dabbed the hand that wasn’t
holding Scourges feebly against her cheek. Her attention was
swiftly brought back to the scene ahead when the notes of a
familiar song danced against her ears tearing her apart.
Mouthing the words to her mothers lullaby word for word her
mothers singing lulled her back into a temporary trance. Her
expression growing more wistful as the minutes passed by this
time what snapped her out of it was the sound of her younger
self. Her laughter shockingly pure and sweet was such a shock to
her system that she felt sickly lightheaded. Without warning she
ushered the hedgehog closer against her untangling their knotted
fingertips, to wind his arm securely around her waist, while she
cuddled up against him in return trying her best to cling onto
the thing she was certain was real right now. Concentrating
wearily on making sure her breathing remained stable along with
following the sound of her lovers heartbeat, when she did
finally feel up to verbal communication again her words were so
soft she wasn’t sure he heard them. "What do you think of
them so far?” She was genuinely curious to find out his
       answer.
With the young fennec now over the worst of her crying the happy
family of three had now moved onto a rousing game of tag. With
the father using half of his normal running speed so that his
daughter could easily catch up and ‘tackle’ him
over. More laughter followed causing the longing ache stirring
inside the distraught fox to spread further.

Scourge backed off placing his hands on Sonya's shoulders before
reflecting on her last comment. "You must think I’m the worst
       girlfriend..”
"Yeah, you've been a huge pain in my ass the last few days but
Sonya that doesn't matter. Like yeah we all have terrible
thoughts about ourselves and others but that's all they are
thoughts. You're not what you think, you're what you do and I'm
choosing to do something nice so let's just drop the insecurity
and enjoy it huh?" With her second question Scourge looked away
sitting in the slush as he placed one hand in his coat and used
the others to squeeze hers a little tighter; he seemed to have a
look of disinterest and anger as he drudged up the past. "Never
really saw the appeal of parents myself. My father placed the
barrel of a sawed off shotgun in my mouth and pulled the trigger
when I was eight......He was too slow." He commented before
       clearing his throat.
"Let's not go dragging up my dumpster-fire of a childhood. What
I think shouldn't matter, if you loved them that's good enough
for me. Now enjoy this while you can because we can't do this
again, there's rules to this stuff even for me. Time travel is a
delicate situation it's like running on thin ice, if you slip up
or cause a crack the whole thing breaks apart and you could get
clung out to the far reaches of time." Scourge's mind was heavy
with the burden of what he was doing and he couldn't afford to
loose focus so he stood and took a deep breath. "You can't
interact with them but if there's anything you want to see in
the past while we're here I can take you there."

Nodding mutely she listened attentively to his words blunt as
Scourge was he did have a point. He’d given her the opportunity
of a lifetime getting to lay eyes on her parents again. Every
moment was even more precious now. Feeling the initial shock
steadily drain from her body Sonya felt her breathing slowly
return back to normal and in place of the shock was instead calm
acceptance. A numbness was flooding through her veins. Her large
ears pinning back upwards high on her head as she focus her
attention on what Scourge revealed however briefly about his own
relationship with his father she felt her heart clench. Keeping
her pretty features carefully impassive while he spoke she
squeeze his hand tighter in return, while she kept her gaze
       fixed on her own parents.
After a few minutes of filtering through all the appropriate
responses in her head she finally settled on one. “What a
scumbag.” Open disgust for the moebian creeping into those three
words she nodded again, when Scourge made it clear that his
childhood wasn’t going to be up for further discussion anytime
soon but regardless this had to be said. “Believe it or not
Scourge what you think does matter to me. and I know we’re not
going to talk about your childhood now but I want you to know
that whenever your ready we will.” Taking a few minutes to idly
fiddle with her black spiky bracelets she gave what they’d see
next some deep thought before making her decision. "In that case
it’s tea party time. Me and parents used to throw the best
imaginary ones and if my memory serves right we had one of those
       at some point today.”

Tea parties, talking about his childhood the entire situation
he'd found himself in made Scourge cringe but it was making
Sonya smile so he would simply grin and bare it. The couple
trailed the family throughout the day witnessing all kinds of
wholesome events from the aforementioned tea party to a home
cooked meal in their cozy cottage. The green hedgehog personally
didn't understand why she adored her prenatal figures because
his mother walked out before he was born and his father played a
large part in the monster he had become today. As time past and
the stars made their way into the sky Sonya's parents ended the
       day by tucking the tiny fox into bed and reading her a story;
the story detailed a princess of the same name who awaited a
handsome price to come and sweep her off her feet. Scourge
gagged at the thought of something so whimsical and magical
without even a trace of conflict. While he was stewing in his
loathing for the innocence of Sonya's childhood the night ended
when her parents gently closed the door as she drifted off to
       sleep.
Soon her folks retired to their bedroom and started talking
about all the adult world and all the troubles that came with
it. Hearing he whispers of war Scourge grabbed Sonya's wrist and
pulled her towards a purple portal that had just torn itself
into reality. Staring into the swirling vortex of energy he
urged his partner to take one last good look through the window.
"Our time's up. Couldn't be better if you ask me you don't need
to stick around to hear this. You've got your phone right? Feel
free to turn off the flash and the sound and snap a picture.
It's the last time I can bring you here before they catch up
       with me."

She wasn’t going to lie taking this unexpected venture down
memory lane had been by no means easy. Watching her younger self
so blissfully ignorant to the dangers that awaited her it caused
the nostalgic longing that had been lapping throughout the
fennec this entire time to turn into waves flooding fiercely
through her veins. Temporarily turning her other half out as the
late evening settled over them and the stars came out to glisten
against a blanket of night. She remained transfixed listening to
her mother lul her younger self to sleep with a bedtime story
she knew all to well. It was a rather stereotypical fairy-tale
really full of wonder hope and most importantly the promise of
a happy ending by the time the book came to a close. Ignoring
the vice like feeling that threatened to tighten around her
chest Sonya blinked away the reoccurring tears that had started
to form in her blue irises. Although she wasn’t sure what she
was crying for aside from the obvious, her parents loved her and
that was all that mattered now. An oddly strange surge of
acceptance settling over her the female felt the worst of her
distress subside replaced with a controlled calm.
Watching her parents expressions turn grave the second her
bedroom door closed Sonya was lightly startled at the feel of
Scourges hand wrapping around her wrist. "Our time's up.
Couldn't be better if you ask me you don't need to stick around
to hear this. You've got your phone right? Feel free to turn off
the flash and the sound and snap a picture. It's the last time I
can bring you here before they catch up with me." Shaking her
head at him Sonya spoke firmly.“I don’t need a picture. The past
is better being left in the past. Lets go.” Without looking back
despite the almost overwhelming urge to do so Sonya stepped
through into the swirling purple vortex taking Scourge with her.
