       Let it Snow, Christmas Fiasco

[sub](Sapphire is age 8, Caroline is 11, Robin is
       9)[/sub][/center]
It was the most favourite time of the year, finally it had
arrived, there had been snow every couple of days, pretty lights
were popping up here and there and everywhere! Merry decorations
littered the streets and houses from wrapped up tree's in tinsel
to glittering white reindeer statues that looked as soft as the
snow that fell. Everyone was preparing for the big day to come
later on in the month, gathering presents and tying them up in
bows of ribbon and preparing delicious foods and desserts to
       share with family.
Family! The most important part of the month.
Seeing all her friends and family was the biggest reason a
certain little blue hedgehog loved this holiday the most, and to
get into the spirit of things, she chose today to wear her
little reindeer outfit, fitted with a very jingly bell around
her neck and knee-high boots with white fluff up the top. She
couldn't help herself after hearing that today, she and her
sister would get to go out with their Aunty Sonya for Christmas
shopping! Even her older sister, Caroline, had dressed up too in
a cute little red and white dress which had two pom pom's
dangling from the top, with matching gloves and shoes that also
had white fluff on the ends, the feline was fit for the weather.
The two for now, excitedly waited for their god mother to come
pick them up, while they did, they waited with their 'Uncle'
Tails and Robin who had the cutest little Christmas sweater that
Tails no doubt made for him himself as he too had the same
sweater, just in his size. The fox was more then happy to look
after the two girls while Sonya made her way here, making sure
to stay to the very first shops of the shopping center so it was
easy for Sonya to find them. Sapphire was easily over excitable
though, and more often then not the fox found himself having to
hush down her excitement so that she didn't break anything from
her eagerness, "[shadow=orange, right]I know you're excited
little blue bird, but you've got to be on your best behavior
remember? Be good for me when Aunty Sonya picks you up, won't
you?[/shadow]" He'd be met with an excited nod, which then got
her a gentle pat on the head. Now all she had to do was keep in
her excitement until Sonya got here.. She could do that! Or, at
       least she thought she could.

Sonya Heart loved this time of year.
She couldn’t quite put a finger on what exactly what loved
most about the holiday but there was something about the snow
falling, the lights twinkling, and the upbeat carolling that
made her steps feel a little lighter. Everywhere she looked
families of sizes were milling around happily hugging, laughing,
exchanging heart felt words it gave the large eared fox an
intensely indescribable feeling. Dressed purposely to match her
older niece in a similar styled red and white Santa themed dress
she’d made sure that they twined in outfit right down to
the matching gloves and shoes with the white fluff on the end
she was winter weather ready. Having politely dodged out of
multiple peoples way she took a moment to observe one particular
family that caught her eye a wife and her husband sharing a kiss
under a tiny bundle of mistletoe whilst their children a duo of
twin girls probably no older than her youngest god daughter
Sapphire pranced around their parents squealing and happy
completely oblivious to everything else. Watching the family
from the outside was an odd sensation in fact it made Sonya feel
very far away for a few minutes.
Though she was quick to snap herself out of her temporary trance
and shrug off the beginnings of a sadness that she wasn’t
ready to confront no she refused to confront not today. All she
cared about now was making sure that Sapphire and Caroline spent
a day with her that they would fondly remember. Hastily checking
her wrist communicator for the time, she jostled the sack of
early Christmas presents slung over her shoulder that she
planned to distribute among Tails, Robin, and rest of his family
and as for her nieces she had something particularly special for
the both of them in mind that’d she would give them later
on. The fog of her formerly dampened mood fading as the all too
familiar sight of the most wonderful duo in the world came into
view, Sonya didn’t realise she was running towards the
group until it was happening. Not caring that she was going to
attract stares her tone boomed out with affection and excitement
in equal measure to match Sapphires.“Snowflake! Blue
Bird!” All others temporarily forgotten the fennec dropped
gently onto one knee spreading her arms wide for both girls in
       greeting.

They wouldn't have to wait too long and soon enough, Aunty Sonya
was here! Tails' ears would flick hearing the sound of someone
running and he'd turn his head to see that it was the Fennec Fox
arriving, he'd manage a smile just before the girls reacted to
their nicknames being called. Sonya would find the girls running
towards her too, Sapphire started off so fast that she slipped,
skidded across the marble floor of the shopping center and then
swiftly got back up to her feet without a fuss to keep going.
The duo would meet her halfway as she dropped onto one knee and
spread out her arms, reaching her Sapphire would throw herself
at Sonya, giving her a big hug while Caroline smiled lightly and
also joined in on the hug "Aunty Sonya! Aunty Sonya!" The little
blue hedgehog would rub her little head into the side of the
fox's cheek while Caroline remained a lot more calm and gentle
while also being excited to see Sonya. "It's good to see you
again" The cat opted to say instead, as she pulled away and
shyly put her arms behind her back and rocked back and forth on
       the spot.
Soon after, Tails and Robin came over, Tails stood behind
Caroline while Robin stood behind Tails, or more, hid behind
Tails shyly, hugging onto the fox's leg while her peeked out
from behind him, which Tails didn't seem to mind. While giving
Robin a comforting pat on the head, the fox would address Sonya
since he had to hand the girls over to her, now that she was
here. "[shadow=orange, right]It is really good to see you again
Sonya, aheh[/shadow]" Tails would rub behind his head a little
bit, "[shadow=orange, right]I know they'll be in good hands with
you, I think it'll be best also if you keep an extra eye
on..[/shadow]" He'd motion towards Caroline, not wanting the
little ones to know what he was getting at just yet.

Letting out a soft laugh into both of the girls fur Sonya
cuddled them both contently close for a few moments simply
allowing herself to enjoy being in the moment with the two
youngsters she held dear. Hoisting the teeny blue hedgehog
playfully onto her hip she nuzzled her nose gently against her
own, before she spoke. “Easy there whirlwind! you came at
me so fast I’m lucky I was able to catch you!”
Giving a fond shake of her head the fennec peered down with
identical fondness for the kitten now rocking back and forth on
the spot beside her. Taking on a slightly more gentle but still
affectionate filled tone she spoke to her eldest god daughter
directly. “Caroline I swear every time I see you
your’re twice as grown up and effortlessly mature ..so
much like your mother.” Reaching out with her free hand
Sonya gave Carolines shoulder a warm squeeze before removing it
and finally focusing on Tails and Robin her expression sincere
as she listened to him speak without interruption.
Knowing all to well what he meant by his indication she gave him
a confident but understanding smile. “Hi there Tails
it’s nice to see you again too.” Producing a smaller
package from her pocket her with her free hand, she offered it
towards the orange furred kit with an almost nervous flourish.
“I.. erm.. got you something I hope you like it..”
For reasons unknown to her she always felt like she behaved a
little to formal when it came to socialising with Tails which
was ridiculous considering she’d known him almost as long
       as she’d known Sonic.
"Don’t worry will be more than fine! Isn’t that
right girls?” Head tilting a fraction the medic
couldn’t help but notice that the smaller dog was still
uncertainly hiding behind Tails legs, she wanted to fix that.
Still taking careful care to keep hold of Sapphire, Sonya
crouched down balancing herself steadily on her feet so that she
could reach a hand into the sack of presents she’d brought
along with her, between the feel of the present shapes and the
order she’d packed them in it didn’t take her long
to find the one she picked out for a particularly special pup in
particular. Almost medium sized and wrapped in glossy golden
wrapping paper patterned with Christmas trees she kept her tone
of voice soft not wanting to startle the younger boy while she
offered the gift outward. “Hey Robin, you didn’t
think that I was going to forget about you did you? because that
       would be impossible.”

       ---------------------------------------------------------
When Sonya rubbed her nose against Sapphire's, the hedgehog
would giggle and reach her hands up to grab Sonya's nose
afterwards, gently squeezing it a few times and giving a cute
"Beep beep!" As she did. She seemed rather proud hearing she was
rather hard to catch thanks to her speed, she'd laugh again and
put her hands as fists against her hips "Just like dad!".
Caroline would smile shyly when addressed by Sonya directly her
cheeks going a little pink. "Oh, thank you Aunty Sonya!" She
would put a hand on top of the fox's after Sonya had squeezed
       her shoulder.
Tails would smile warmly to Sonya, and seemed a bit surprised to
be receiving something from her so soon. Carefully he took the
offered package from her and would listen to what she said
after, his ears flattening a bit back as she spoke, "Oh! Thanks
Sonya!" He of course wasn't going to let her go present-less
either, and would pause a moment to lean down and reach a hand
into his own sack-like bag. Standing back up soon after, Tails
would then hold out a carefully wrapped present that had a
rather cute reindeer wrapping paper to cover it. Like she had
done for him, the fox would hand her the present.
"[shadow=orange, right]Robin wrapped it up for you, and helped me
make it for you, I hope you like it![/shadow]" He'd smile and
carefully hand over the present, keeping the one she had given
him tucked away safely in his sweater pocket.
"[shadow=orange, right]Feel free to hold onto it and open it for
later, I know you have your hands pretty full for the
moment![/shadow]" Truthfully he wanted to also give her a hug
for her kindness but he was much older now and thought maybe it
       wasn't the best idea.
Caroline and Sapphire of course eagerly nodded to Sonya's
question, looking as sweet as a pair of angels although Tails
wasn't quite convinced as he had just been with them, he knew
they'd be on their best behaviour for Sonya, they truly did love
spending time with her. Robin's tail would go between his legs
shyly as Sonya crouched down and pulled out a present, which she
then offered to him. He was a year older then Sapphire, yet so
shy for someone his age. However, his bright green eyes lit up
seeing a gift be offered to him. A smile crept up on him as she
spoke ever so sweetly to him, Sonya had always been so kind,
there was no reason to be scared! With a bit of an encouraging
gentle push from Tails, Robin eventually came out from hiding
and took the present, looking at the blue hedgehog that Sonya
was still holding onto while he did. Sapphire beamed back which
seemed to make the little dog go shy again but at least he
didn't hide behind Tails a second time. "[sub]Is it okay if I
open it?[/sub]" He'd then ask softly in a very quiet tone, he
had a bit to go but he was steadily becoming more confident.

Her heart melting at the gentle squeeze that her youngest god
child gave her nose in that moment the love she felt for the
tiny blue hedgehog in arms was overwhelming. It was strange
anyone else in her position probably would have been deeply
envious after all here she was with such close bonds formed with
her best friends children knowing all to well that she would
never know this kind of happiness herself. But she couldn’t
bring herself to feel that way towards Sonic not after
everything he’d gone through to be where he was now. She knew
how much loosing those who he thought were friends affected him
not that he ever went out of his way to talk about those that
didn’t matter anymore, but she knew. Sonya wanted nothing more
than for her childhood friend to live out the remainder of his
days content and happy and now with Karahl, Caroline, and
Sapphire he was that and more and for her that was good enough.
Dropping an absent minded kiss on top of Sapphires head, Sonya
tuned back into her surroundings in time to hear Caroline trill
a shy. “Oh thank you Aunty Sonya!” Which she rewarded with a
supportive smile her way before her attention shifted back to
Tails. Admittedly it was very early to be giving out gifts but
Sonya loved the festive feel good feeling that come out giving
for her loved ones so she felt a few stocking presents wouldn’t
ruin much. “Don’t worry about it! .. I mean it’s really anything
special but I tried to think outside the box.” A genuine smile
flickering across her white muzzle, at the sight of the reindeer
wrapping papered package, Sonya took the present admiring the
outer presentation for a few moments, before she tucked the gift
safely away into the folds of her fur with the hand that wasn’t
currently occupied cradling Sapphire. “I’m sure I’ll love it if
the two of you put in the effort to make it for me! thank you so
much Tails! and you have absolutely super wrapping skills
       Robin."
Letting out a small laugh at his witty comment about her hands
being full, she rejigged Sapphire a little higher on her hip, to
make sure her niece avoided starting to slip. “Your’re not wrong
about that but I really don’t mind at all!” Casting another
small smile Sapphires way, she looked back to the two tailed
kit, and hesitated. She wanted to give him a hug but wondered if
that would possibly make him uncomfortable? She was never quite
sure how to behave around Tails nowadays. Still in the end she
decided to just break the awkwardness. Taking a couple of almost
uncertain steps towards him, she closed the short distance
between them to give him a brief but authentic hug, though she
made sure to pull away before things had a chance to settle into
awkward territories. However angelic her nieces reactions
appeared Sonya had an amused hunch that before she arrived that
hadn’t been the case for Tails, but she trusted Sapphire and
Caroline and knew that for her if best behaviour was promised
that’s exactly what she’d get from them. Glad to see Robin
slowly emerge from his shell Sonya was all to happy to offer up
another one of her warm smiles. "Of course you can! forgive me
it’s a little out of sorts.. but it should keep you snug.” Upon
opening his present the pup would find a soft mint green patch
work quilt inside it hadn’t been the easiest Christmas present
to make by far and Sonya had spent many months learning how to
actually quilt and knit so that this would come out right, but
she was pretty proud of her efforts and hoped that Robin would
       feel the same.

"[shadow=orange, right]If it's from you, its special by
default[/shadow]" Tails would smile to Sonya, maybe she didn't
think what she had given him was special, but he probably
thought it was! He was glad when she also accepted his present
and thanked both him and Robin. "[shadow=orange, right]You're
more then welcome Sonya, I hope you have yourself a Merry little
Christmas[/shadow]" He'd chuckle lightly. Sapphire would close
her eyes at the forehead kiss and give Sonya a big soft cuddle
back, resting her chin on the fox's shoulder.
Tails was glad really hearing that Sonya didn't mind, she loved
her god daughters and this was very easily shown. When she
stepped towards him to move in for a hug, Tails would catch on
and help her out by also stepping closer and accepting the hug
while also returning it, Sonya was soft and warm and her hugs
were always the same, he really enjoyed them, but never wanted
to push boundaries with her of course. After the hug he'd smile
and silently thank her for taking the first steps for it to
       happen at all.
Robin smiled when he was told he was allowed to open the
present, and carefully in a way that didn't rip the wrapping,
he'd open it, revealing the mint quilt inside. The young boy's
face lit up and he'd give the quilt a hug before wrapping it
around his shoulders like a cape, "It's beautiful! Thank you!"
He'd beam up at Sonya with delight, there was no way he was
       taking it off anytime soon!
Tails would give Sonya another thankful smile, knowing Robin
loved the present, "[shadow=orange, right]Thank you Sonya, the
quilt is lovely, we better get going now and not keep you here
though![/shadow]" He'd scoop up his sack bag and then scooped up
Robin in his other arm, "[shadow=orange, right]See you at the
       Christmas party though?[/shadow]"

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world!” A friendly
wink fired off his way, she beamed back at the younger boy,
relieved to see that her quilting classes hadn’t been a
waste after all. Finally placing Sapphire back on her own two
feet for the time being, Sonya straightened up and addressed
both the girls. “Say bye to Uncle Tails and Robin girls!"
Knowing that reminding the duo of their manners was just a
formality the female couldn’t have looked prouder being
stood in between them both. Once the byes and hugs were
exchanged, Sonya offered a hand to each girl, as they ambled
along through the hustle and bustle of the shopping centre. With
Christmas now nearing in such a short amount of time the three
of them were now officially on a mission. Now despite Sapphire
still being to young for a weekly allowance of her own Sonya had
promised her youngest god daughter that she wouldn’t go
without so the gifts Sapphire was ‘buying’ for both
her parents was being funded by the fennec but that was a small
price to pay for seeing the blue furred female happy.
Caroline on the other hand was as self sufficient as ever and
had likely saved up quite the penny out of earnings to get
something for her parents but Sonya had still offered and
insisted on helping her pay for any extra if she needed her to.
The money aspect out of the way Sonya steered both girls out of
the way of Christmas shoppers towards the safety of a small
bench in the middle of the mall. They needed an action plan
after all she knew roughly what she wanted to buy for Sonic that
was a snap.. but Karahl now that a different challenge entirely
and one that did not easier over the years. Stepping back so
that she was in front of both the young ones Sonya spoke with
matter a fact enthusiasm for the tasks ahead. “Okay you
two I’m going to need you at your sharpest now you both
know that picking out a Christmas present for your father is
something I could do with my eyes closed, but.. your
mother..” Making a playful expression of mock horror the
blonde continued. “The two of you will help me out
won’t you? I want to try and get her something that she
won’t have to politely pretend to like this year.”
While Sonya was the more responsible adult figure out of her and
Sonic sometimes she did tend to let her authoritative behaviour
slip without noticing, so that she ended up seeming more like a
friend to the children rather than their aunt.

Sapphire would wobble a little bit after being put back on her
own two feet to be addressed with Caroline by their Aunty. She
could walk and run fine but she was like a baby deer first
trying to walk when it came to controlling her speed abilities.
The girls would listen of course, giving the boys a wave, "See
you later Uncle Tails and Robin! Happy holidays!" "Goodbye
Robin, Goodbye Uncle Tails, thank you for taking care of us".
The girls then looked back up at Sonya looking happy and hopeful
for fun to the fun to come next, "What's first on the list Aunty
Sonya?" Caroline would ask while Sapphire put her hands on her
taller sister's shoulders and used her to boost herself up so
she could try and look for said list. "Oooh a list?"
Both girls were obviously grateful for their Aunty's generosity
and had already planned to get her something for it out of their
own pockets. But that was a surprise for later. They would help
Sonya in steering them out of the way of busy shoppers and to a
bench. Sonya seemed not so sure of what to get for their mother
Karahl, the two looked at each other first then back to see
Sonya's mocked horror, gasping in sync with each other. "Of
course we'll help you Aunty Sonya!" "You always help us, it's
only fair, of course we will help" Both thought Sonic honestly
would be more then happy with simply getting some free
chilidogs, so he was pretty easy to shop for, Karahl their
mother was different though, but not impossible to get a gift
for. "What'd you gonna get dad? I can help you get it!" "We
could get his present out of the way first, it'll give us some
more time to search for one for mum that way" Caroline then put
a hand on top of Sapphire's head to try and stop the half
hedgehog from practically vibrating with excitement "It's
probably best if you don't use your speed in a busy shopping
       centre Sapphire"

Chuckling fondly at her nieces excitement she gently chimed onto
what Caroline said her blue eyes twinkling. "As tempted as I am
to take the fast route whirlwind Carolines right better not to
upstage the Christmas crowds eh?” Seeing the pair so
willing and ready to assist her did wonders for making her heart
feel like it would burst with happiness. These two truly were
remarkable not that she should have expected anything less from
her only nieces after all. Nodding in agreement with Carolines
suggestion the fennec flashed the two of them a wide grin, now
feeling much reassured about her chances of finding a suitable
present for Karahl with back up in tow.
“That’s a plan Snowflake! In that case we all know
exactly where we’re heading for your dad.. to the chilli
dog stand!” Planting Sapphire lightly back on her own two
feet, and waiting for Caroline to get back to hers, if she
choose to do so Sonya would take her hand as well as Sapphires
and off they went. Upon arrival Sonya joined the already lengthy
line before lifting the younger of her two nieces once more
placing her carefully atop her shoulders, to give her a birds
eye view of the chill dog stand menu. "Okay Sapph eyes pealed,
our selection here is all to crucial i mean granted we all know
your father will swallow almost anything if chilli is involved
but we need to make sure we get him the sloppiest, spiciest,
unhealthiest option on the menu oh and preferably something that
will undoubtedly singe off his taste buds."Giving the smaller
hedgehogs ankles an affectionate squeeze, she flicked her gaze
upwards. "Sapph whilst we're here do you want anything? i mean i
can't buy you anything that'll singe off your taste buds but
it's near Christmas a sneaky snack won't do any harm."
Looking lost in thought for a moment or so, the fennec brought
her attention to Caroline while she waited on Sapphire to ponder
her chilli dog decision. "Caroline your're welcome to have a
chilli dog too.. although if you'd prefer i know a cafe near by
that does a decadent hot chocolate."
