Re: The First Employee [Reck & Sabine]

Sabine just stood in the entrance to the warehouse and watched
as the exchange played out. She didn't like the dog, even if she
heard he had been waiting for weeks... and she would be no
better, that didn't mean she should accept it as normal. At the
very least he seemed happy that the robot was coming along and
then left after telling Reck to hurry up.
As he passed by his new employee she followed him for a bit.
Then she just ended up sitting down against the counter and dig
into her lunch while the break was somewhat in session. At least
she was in the store if someone should come by. Once Reck came
back though, she had a question for him, "so... what is the deal
with that guy? He seemed to lack the same amount of manners as i
do."

While outside Reck sat on his stool and lit up a cigarette. The
robot he was working on was something special indeed. The design
was Reck's idea, but at the time he needed funding. He pitched
the robot to several companys. Mr. Cottonhill was the only
person to put a bid on the robot. Something was off about Mr.
Cottonhill though. Reck just couldn't figure out what.
Once he realized he had burned through his entire cigarette. The
porcupine lit another one. Reck was worried about what the saint
bernard wanted with the robot. The entire situation felt off. A
top all that he was a rude customer. Showing up whenever he
wanted. He already talked Reck into two discounts before the
fifteen percent bid. Reck stood up and finished off his
cigarette before heading inside.
Once back inside he was caught off guard by Sabine's question.
After a pause to gather his thoughts the porcupine spoke. "Don't
worry about him, Sabine. From what I can tell he's just some dog
with more money than brains. Once the robot is finished we won't
have to hear from him again. "

"Ah, i see, well, hopefully it happens without incident then,"
Sabine nodded as she packed her lunch away and got up again,
"but i suppose it is time i get back to work then, isn't it?
What do you need me to do now?"

The porcupine looked around the store. He was unsure what to
tell the jaguar to do next. "Hmmm... I guess you could sweep the
warehouse." The store seemed to be having a dead day. Minus Mr.
Cottonhill. No one had even looked in the store window. "I think
I might close the store up early and get to work on that robot.
We'll see how the next couple hours go. After you get done
sweeping. Come get me and I'll figure something for you to do
next."

"Better than sitting around and doing nothing," Sabine nodded
and started to head back to the warehouse, "i will have the
place swept in time. Until then, boss."
Once in warehouse once again, she grabbed the broom and got to
work. The task might be tedious and slow, but given that she had
almost made it through an entire day without being in danger of
losing her job again was a very good feeling. That she wouldn't
deny as she powered on for a full hour and thirty minutes at
least to make sure it was clean before heading back to her boss
and stretched out, making her spine and shoulders pop a bit,
"ah, alright boss, the warehouse is swept. How has it been on
your front?"

While Sabine was in the warehouse cleaning. One customer entered
the store. They didn't want much a couple new SD cards for their
camera and a new laptop. It was a decent sale after the laptop
was added, but Reck was still debating closing up shop after the
customer left. He crossed his arms and stood staring out the
window.
When Sabine comes out the warehouse. She catches the porcupine
off guard. "Uhh... One customer, a laptop some small things. No
one else. Some days I wonder why I even bother." The porcupine
grips the bridge of his nose. Normally slow days didn't bother
him, but he was hoping for a little buisness on Sabine's first
day.
"I think I'm going to close up early. I have to work on that
robot." The porcupine closes his eyes and shakes his head. "You
can stick around until six if you like. Who knows I might need
some help holding things in place." The porcupine walks to the
front door and flips over the open sign and locks the door. "If
you want to leave, I'll let you out through the back."

Sabine just shrugged at the response and leaned against the
counter, "ah well, hopefully it will get better at some point.
Someone's gotta do it after all, right?"
The offer to go home early was a decent one, she could get
Sebastian from school and go about getting some dinner ready.
But then again, she wouldn't be able to do that all days, so she
might as well get used to staying there full time.
"I will stick around then, might as well get used to the work
schedule," she answered as she watched Reck close up, "i might
be of assistance, otherwise i will find a way to pass the time.
The point is i want to stay here until my workday is over."

Reck nods at Sabine acknowledging her want to stay. He walks
back into the warehouse to the work shop section. In a locker
against the back wall he pulls out, two welding aprons one
unopened, a pair of welding goggles and a welders helmet.
Handing the welding goggles and the unopened apron to the
jaguar. "You're going to want to put those on. Don't pull down
the goggles until I tell you, or you won't be able to see." The
porcupine puts on his apron and helmet, leaving the visor of the
helmet up. He rolls a roller toolbox against the wall next to
the rack supporting the robot. Starting a welder under the
table's preheat. "Any questions before I start? "

Sabine nodded and put on the apron and googles, letting them
rest on her forehead for the time being.
"I don't think so," she trailed while looking at the robot, "i
mean, i haven't done this ever. But i suppose i will need
directions as we go along. Apart from that, i am good to go."

Reck smiles reassuringly. "Don't worry, I'm not expecting you to
understand robotics. I had to get a degree for it and it still
sometimes confuses me." Grabbing rolling a small shop stool from
underneath the tool bench Reck sets it next to the robot. "You
might have to help me hold the arms in place while I connect
them. Mostly your just holding my tools." He spins the rack
holding the robot up around so the back of the robot is facing
them. The back of the robot is completely exposed. The robots
internal computer and wiring running along a steel inner frame.
Reck checks all the wire connections to the computer. Once he
makes sure they are all connected Reck walks over to the work
bench. Under the arms on the desk there is a curved silver
plate. The robots rear casing. Reck grabs the arms and the
casing setting them on the ground next to the robot."Sabine,
would you hand me the welding gun?"
