Her “Sonic Sense” was going off. He was here. As Amy Rose made
polite conversation with the other guests of Rouge, she made a
casual glance towards the direction she felt the unmistakable
blue blur's aura and then felt her heart seize in utter horror.
She gasped and eyes widened in fear then her drink fell from her
hand, shattering against the ground as she flinched backwards,
accidentally bumping into Shadow and blindly grabbed a hold of
his arm and pressed herself into his frame. It was like the
devil himself had just waved at her. And He had done just that.
'Scourge! How, he... no... no- not again...' Suddenly, she was
back in her house, trying to get the green hedgehog male off of
her. She could feel the searing pain of that shard puncturing
her flesh and severing her vital veins then the feeling of death
seizing hold of her as she blacked in and out of consciousness.
Amy's breathing started to speed up as the memory of that night
tried to consume her but as she tightened her grip on Shadow's
arm, her mind began to realize she was still in the club. She
chanced another look at Scourge only to then notice his ear. His
ear... that deformity. She knew that old wound.
"...Sonic?" That was Sonic, right? He had waved at her a moment
ago, and Sonya went over to greet him so casually. She wouldn't
have done that if the one who had tried to kill her was here,
right? The pink hedgehog used every ounce of her senses to tell
her the identity. Her gut was telling her that this wasn't the
green menace, rather the blue blur Sonic. 'Of course... right.
It's Halloween... he's just dressed up.' She blinked a few times
as she stared at the blue blur and a feeling of betrayal pierced
her heart. 'Why is he dressed like that? He... he was there. He
knows what happened. Why is he tormenting me with that image?'
She shook her head, trying to repress the horrible memories that
face was triggering. She couldn't get over it. She would
probably never get over that trauma. It shook her to her core.
Amy could feel her body shaking now.
'I need to sit down.'
Amy realized that she still had a death grip on Shadow's arm and
released him. “I-I'm sorry. I... excuse me for that. I hope I
didn't ruin your costume.” she apologized, turning her pale face
towards him.

He shrugged at the compliment aware his costume didn't have any
effort put into it unlike Amy's attire. "I merely slapped on a
cape and called it a day, your wardrobe compliments your
abilities he would be lying if he wasn't impressed. The other
party goers were summoned to a V.I.P private section by Rouge,
singling out himself and Amy, prompting the black hedgehog to
blink twice, exchanging a glance with the costumed
fortuneteller, how Odd.. Isn't the ultimate lifeform one of her
long time pals? They've been through so much together both on
the job and off duty, naturally he would expect to get invited
right?
Regarding Amy he isn't quite sure about her stance with Rouge,
they currently seem to get along just fine from his perspective,
maybe she can come too. Shadow watched the others approach a
different room but not before giving Rouge a deadpan expression
for her remark. "I heard that!" before he marched after the
others, his vision is being forced to eyeball a figure he never
wanted to see again, the one who placed Amy into medical care.
If "Scourge" planned to show up to the party to rile up Shadow,
its certainly working, he detected the flipping the bird gesture
but the black hedgehog is already fuming with anger. Time to
show that discount faker he ain't welcome here!
However a certain detail about him is one of his ears being
damaged, the only hedgehog he knows with that kind of injury is
Sonic, judging by how causally he approached Sonya and how she
reacted, this green hedgehog turned out to be his arch rival he
dislikes a tad less than Scourge. Of all the costumes he could
have chosen, why the hell would he dress up as his mortal enemy,
especially if he knew Amy went to the hospital because of that
bastard, chaos he is so insensitive!
He half expected Amy to cling onto Shadow for support and he
didn't move an inch to allow her to feel safe, the pair
separated when Amy realized what she is doing. "My costume will
be fine, but I cant say the same for Sonic, that idiot" he
glanced at Sonic giving him a deadpan expression.

Rouge was enjoying the company in the V.I.P. room until she
noticed Sonya's disappearance. She said she went to the toilet?
Rouge wasn't quite sure and grabbed her glass before walking out
of the VIP room signaling James to follow her. "please mister
Reck, do enjoy the buffet, we'll be back shortly and don't
hesitate to order at your heart's content." She had a bad
feeling about tonight but she couldn't quite put her finger on
it. That was until she noticed a hedgehog that looked like
Scourge. Although it couldn't be him or he would have set the
place on fire or worst. She them decided to play along and taunt
him anyway.
"The goal of a halloween event is to come dressed as someone
else. Or are you disguised as trouble, which ever you are...what
are you doing here anyway?" She was visibly irritated by the
hedgehog's presence, especially when she saw him around Sonya.
If it was Scourge then it spelled trouble, if it was blue who
decided to play a cruel prank well he succeeded.
"Shadow, why don't miss Rose and you head to the VIP lounge
while I have a talk with...Him" She said on a harsh tone.

Her large ears pinning backwards unhappily against her head at
Rouges hostile opener towards her childhood friend she found
herself instinctively jumping to his defence though she kept her
tone light. “I invited him Rouge .. sorry I know I
probably should have asked first but I didn’t think
you’d mind..." Trailing off, the timid fox felt a
significant lurch of her stomach seeing how visibly unimpressed
her other friend looked. Wanting to immediately clear the air
she gently detangled herself from his side, standing in between
the pair diplomatically. “I assure you Rouge he’s
just disguised as trouble.. if this were the real Scourge do you
really think I’d be over here cuddling up to him in a
corner instead of enjoying the rest of the evening with you and
the others?” The guilt piercing her ceaselessly from the
partial lie that so easily dripped off her lips, she fiddled
anxiously with the tip of one of her soft blonde curls.
“Sonic’s here for the same reason we all are.. to
celebrate the opening of your monumental club.. isn’t that
right blue?” Shooting the blue furred one- well
temporarily green furred one a warning look, she quietly
implored him to switch on some charm. Goodness knows at this
stage he needed to, despite not vocalising her more negative
opinions of his tactless costume choice out loud that
didn’t mean that his blatant disregard for Amys feelings
went unnoticed by her either. The way this was going he'd be
lucky if Rouge didn't decide to throw them both out personally.
Reluctant as she was to be in agreement with the black hedgehog
after having unintentionally overheard parts of his conversation
with a justifiably fretful Amy she had to agree to degree, Sonic
sure was an idiot.

The porcupine sat on the couch. Rouge telling him to help
himself was quite the invitation. He quickly refilled his plate
and returned to his seat. Now he sat in the room with James.
Rouge and Sonya had both left. This made Reck slightly
uncomfortable. James seems like a respectable person. He just
comes off as strict. The porcupine continued eating none the
less. His plate was full of all kinds of different meats and
vegtables. A personal feast.
After he cleared his second plate. The porcupine thought it
would be polite to strike conversation, but he couldn't think of
anything to talk about. After a pause Reck blurts out. "So,
James what do you do for a living?" Even though the question was
rushed and sudden. There was still a hint of curiosity to it.

James watched as the others left and couldn't help but find it
curious that they would do so in so rapid succession, but he let
if go when he was addressed by the last one left in the room.
"Hm, law enforcement," he answered in a bland tone as he glanced
at the hedgehog. He found the question odd and didn't catch the
curious undertone either, "why do you ask?"

When Sonya played her part a little too well with her advances
Sonic was caught off guard; his usual lady killer routine
wouldn't work with the blonde fox as she knew him far too well.
At a loss for words with the foxes sudden bold advances Sonic
got a little flustered as his cheeks turned pink if only for a
moment. It wasn't long before the blue hero was nursing his beer
acting uncharacteristically quiet as he let Sonya handle the
drinks and Rouge. "Sonya is confident enough to be sweet talking
people and coming to my defense when only a few months ago she
was ready to launch herself off a roof? Somethings changed about
her; for the better she seems more lively....full of hope."
Sonic couldn't quite figure out what had dragged Sonya from that
dark abyss in her mind but he was grateful to whatever person or
force had lead her back to the light.
Finally happy he had some alcohol in his system he spun the
empty bottle atop his finger ignoring Sonya's stare calling for
some tact. "I'm here as Heart's plus one." He looked down to
where her hand was on his hip before clearing his throat. "You
should really consider hiring some new staff; the tool at the
bar wouldn't let me have any drinks and everybody keeps staring
at me like I kicked a puppy." Watching as Amy and Shadow
scurried upstairs he scratched his head before looking towards
the girls. "Is Amy okay? I just waved at her and she looked like
she was going to breakdown into tears....."
Really are truly stumped he gave a dismissive shrug before
jumping to a conclusion. "Shadow's probably a terrible date. I
feel for poor Ams; that girl just cannot catch a break." Unaware
of his insensitive costume choice Sonic didn't think Amy's
reaction was towards him given they were past their petty
troubles and Sonic had just saved her life the month prior.
Finally finishing his thought he caught the bottle he was
spinning atop his finger before tossing it across the club only
to have it shatter at it landed in the nearest bin. "SLAMDUNK!"
He announced proudly holding his hand up waiting to receive a
high five. "Anybody up for a little bar ball?"

Exchanging an almost weary look with Rouge Sonya slowly sucked
in her plump scarlet lips willing herself not to loose her rag
there and then. For all of his endearing qualities Sonics less
redeeming ones were sure a pain in her neck. Face palming
openly, the tipsy fox first spoke to Rouge. “I’m
really sorry about him .. please just give us a few minutes
I’ll fix this.” Ignoring Sonics high five request,
in favour of a roll skyward of her sky blue orbs. She turned her
full attention towards her ‘date’ his uncharitable
behaviour now really beginning to get under her skin. Letting
out a sigh, she swiftly produced her compact mirror from her
purse, holding it directly in front of his face. Her voice
hushed but firmly whispered in his ear, it was reality check
time. “Sonic.. stop being an arrogant ass right now, the
reason people have been fleeing from you all night Amy
ESPECIALLY is because you strolled in here dressed as the
hedgehog that caused her a traumatising almost DEATH experience
that may i remind you i saved her from, now I am trying to help
you .. wipe the green off your face [pulling out a spare wet
wipe from her purse] and go and apologise to Amy immediately for
your insensitivity or so help me I will get angry.” The
infuriating thing about Sonic was his inability to acknowledge
his wrongs until it was too late. Sonic being the type of hog to
do before he thought things through and then when realising that
what he did wasn't brilliant he usually undid. She could only
hope that her bluntness would flick his sensitivity into action.

Reck lowers his head at James tone of disinterest. "I was
curious.... That's all." Standing up from his seat. Reck pours a
drink from the open bar at the end of the buffet. Handing the
drink to James the porcupine chuckles, but he doesn't say a
word. He pours himself a drink and sits back down. Conversation
might not happen, but no reason they can't share a drink. The
porcupine smiles faintly and raises his glass. "To being out of
our comfort zones." He quickly slams his drink.
He fiddles around his costume for the one pocket. A small
compartment big enough for a wallet and his pack of smokes. He
removes one cigarette from the pack, and rests it in his mouth.
The porcupine doesn't light it though. He merely leaves it
there. An obvious attempt to calm his nerves.

"Hm, i suppose i can't fault you for that," James said as he
accepted the drink and nodded in thanks. He too raised the drink
to Reck's toast, "you got that right, i am only here because of
Rouge. Dress-up and party was never my thing."
The cigarette didn't bother him either, it was pretty normal for
him to see others smoke when at the station. He did notice Reck
didn't light it but paid it little mind, "so you're out of your
zone too? Why even come here then?"
