When Someone Heard the Fallen Tree [Acorn Woods, Open]
By: Hachi Date: September 26, 2018, 4:23 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
With the nip of Autumn in the air, and a thick fog blanketing
the floor of the forest, the sound of morning birds had groggily
awoken Hachi from a painfully deep slumber. Begrudgingly
adjusting her weakened body to sit up against the back of a
tree, she sighed heavily, trying to get her mind going. The
morning was beyond breathtaking. Hachi always enjoyed the peace
and tranquility of Autumn, and she felt so blessed to be able to
enjoy it. Last night, after all, she had been nothing but afraid
that she'd never see the light of day again. Coming that close
to dying was-
... Wait a minute. Dying?
With a sudden jolt Hachi attempted to jump to her feet-- only to
find her robotic legs were weighing her down. They wouldn't
budge. After struggling for moment, Hachi's breathing
quickened. This is fine! Lost in the woods with no one in sight
with broken legs-- no problem at all! Hachi could feel her face
working up a sweat. The cool morning breeze seemed to do nothing
to help as she felt herself working up a state of absolutely
panic. Her hands frantically searched around the cold ground by
her when-- her screwdriver! Oh thank god! She might be able to
get herself out of this mess! With a heavy sigh of relief, Hachi
held it close to her chest for a moment, gently kissing the
handle before noticing something was tied to it. A note.
"You've been warned."
Hachi could feel her ears droop. Warned? Warned of what? Hachi
tried to piece together the events of the previous night, but
she struggled to remember. Let's see... she went into
Mobotropolis. She was done with her errand, and on her way
home... when someone hit her? Or did they hit someone else...?
Did she fight someone? Everything seemed like a blur, and she
couldn't piece together the vital images that were playing in
her head. Before she felt like someone clear came into view, it
seemed to vanish in front of her. Could it be they wiped her
memory? Did she get involved with something she shouldn't have?
Clearly, she did, if they felt the need to leave her a
warning...
With a heavy grunt, Hachi pried open her right kneecap with her
screwdriver. Looking inside without a decent light source seemed
tricky... but there had to be some kind of loose wire or
something she could easily fix. Without seeing anything, she
opened up her leg, only to be greeted with a small, flashing red
light. ["Yes, I'm well aware my legs aren't working-- thanks!"]
Using the flashing light as a way to see better, however, she
was able to take notice of a few wires that seemed to have
fallen out of place that attached to her kneecap.
"No wonder..." Hachi mumbled to herself, "Something would have
had to hit me really hard in order for these things to just pop
out of place."
With that, she began gently fidgeting with the wires,
desperately trying to attempt to put them back together in the
right spot. Without a definite light source, and not being able
to physically feel what she was doing, stuff like this never
failed to be a struggle. She realized, however, the damage done
could have been much much worse. As she worked on herself, a
million questions ran through her head. Why did they just leave
her out here? Why would they leave the note on a screwdriver?
Why couldn't she remember any faces, or any specific details
about how she wound up here the night before? A gentle breeze
blew in, whipping the fog around her feet as she continued
trying to fix herself. Hopefully she could finish this up soon
and just go home... at the moment, she didn't know what to make
of her situation.

The trees bent with the wind as something blue rushed past them
like a rouge gust going where it pleases. The colorful leaves
were knocked into the air by an invisible force moving far too
quickly to see. It wasn't long before the blitzing item came to
a screeching halt leaving a flaming trail in it's wake, while
the embers danced about the crisp air steam was radiating off
the red stripped sneakers of the fastest thing alive as he
fanned away the aroma pf burning rubber. Looking ahead to the
immobile girl with the mechanical legs he approached raising a
hand to see if he could be of assistance. Looking over the
complex parts in her leg Sonic knew he would be know use he knew
how to do an oil change on The Tornado but that was about the
extent of his knowledge.
"Everything okay here? Your legs....do they normally beep and
flash an ominous red at you?" Breaking the ice with a joke Sonic
extended his hand towards the girl. "I'm Sonic the fastest thing
alive and best looking hero on the planet. You need some tools
or something cause I know a guy who has tonnes of them just
laying around. Sure Tails gets annoyed when his things go
missing but hey if it's for a good cause, what the hell right?"

With a sudden jolt, Hachi looked up to find herself face to face
with Sonic the Hedgehog in the flesh. In that moment, she could
feel her heart racing! One of her biggest heroes— the leader of
the Freedom Fighters— right in front of her! Here to help! Hachi
could feel herself relaxing a bit— with Sonic here, she felt so
much safer.
On his comment on her leg beeping however, she could feel her
face turning bright red. She gently covered her open leg casing,
attempting to hide herself from him. Being open like that made
her feel indecent... and it was only worse that this was
happening in front of her hero.
“I- Yeah! I think...” Hachi managed to sputter out. With that,
she carefully tried to look inside her leg and poked at
something with her screwdriver. “Although it would have been
nice if I could see what I was doing better...” She mumbled.
Glancing up at Sonic, she let out an embarrassed smile.
“I’m, uh, Hachi!” She brushed her hair back... was that a leaf
stuck in it? Oh god, that’s embarrassing... she gently pulled it
out and glanced away for a moment.
“I don’t normally wake up in the middle of the woods with my
legs busted up this bad...” She said with a hushed tone, “I
sadly can’t remember anything about how I got out here.” She
touched her head, feeling pretty distressed about the situation,
and then showed Sonic the eerie warning message that was left on
her Screwdriver.
“But if I could just-!” Hachi grunted, twisting something inside
of her leg, “If I could get just this one leg going, I could
drag myself back home and fix my other one...!”
