Sage The Cat

[center]{Appearance}[/center]
[center] Sage is a tall, slender, brown and white,
anthropomorphic cat, with a long, slender tail. They have
heterochromia, causing one of their eyes to be blue, while the
other is green. Their outfit is plain, often a loose, white
t-shirt tied to the side to be a better fit, accompanied by an
ash brown and white, aviator jacket with a faux fur collar, dark
blue pants, and combat boots.[/center]

[center]{Personality}[/center]
[center] Sage's main reaction to things is typically sarcasm
and condescension. They do their best to maintain a "tough guy"
aura, and to give the illusion that they are above others. This
is most often a mask of reluctant care for strangers, and a
generally strong moral compass. Though they can quickly become
frustrated with others, they are never outright hostile unless
the other already is. Though they frequently fight for the
innocent, they do their best to avoid being labelled as a
"do-gooder", having no interest in being commonly viewed as a
hero. They have a lot of trouble making friends, due to their
inability to outwardly take anything seriously, seemingly
thinking anytime if a good time for a biting remark or empty
insult. Though their words are unkind, they often hold no real
belief in their verbal disdain until someone gives them a proper
reason for it.[/center]
[center] Though friendship is a difficult thing to maintain
with Sage, they do still value whatever bonds they do
successfully forge. Even if they would never admit it aloud,
they are willing to do almost anything for those they consider
close to them. Any qualms they have with favors for those they
care for are only sparked from discrepancies with their morals,
otherwise, anything could be asked of them. They grow greatly
flustered when this fact is pointed out, as they do with having
any sign of "weakness" being attributed to them, brushing it off
with a snarky remark and moving on as quickly as they can. Even
if they care for someone, their sarcastic sense of humor is a
consistent factor.[/center]
[center] Sage heavily dislikes attention, and doesn't think
very highly of those who are seekers for the spotlight. They
believe it is nothing but a distraction and corrupter for
people's motives. Recognition, they believe, is simply a motive
for people who otherwise don't deserve to be hailed as heroes.
Due to this, their logical extreme is for nobody to be praised
for their heroic acts.[/center]

[center]{Abilities}[/center]
[center][Geokinesis] Sage is capable of manipulating the Earth,
primarily rocks and collections of dirt, using their
mind.[/center]
[center] > Sage most often uses this ability for the sake of
combat, using it to hurl large amounts of rocks at foes, or to
crush the enemy underneath a large mass of earth.[/center]
[center] > They are also able to use their geokinesis to rise
walls of rock to provide a temporary shield, or to rise themself
into the air on top of a small platform.[/center]
[center][Feline Agility] Sage is very quick on their toes, and
has quicker reflexes than others.[/center]

[center]{Weaknesses}[/center]
[center][Geokinetic limits] Sage's geokinesis is not unlimited.
It, firstly, requires a source of rock or dirt nearby, as their
ability is purely manipulation of the element, not conjuring.
Secondly, it is draining for Sage to use it for too long, and
overuse can lead to exhaustion or fainting if pushed for too
long. Their geokinesis also requires concentration, and if their
distracted from use, their hold on whatever earth they’re
holding is released.[/center]
[center][Arachnophobia] Sage is intensely terrified of spiders,
and is often unable to deal with them, freezing up when near
them. Though this may sometimes simply be a source of
embarrassment, their silent terror also leaves them open for
attack if it is to occur in a hostile situation.[/center]
[center][Unbounded Temper] Sage is quick to anger, and quick to
act upon that anger. They are prone to snapping at allies, and
recklessly attacking enemies without putting any thought into it
until after it's already been done.[/center]
[center][Lacking Physical Strength] While Sage is quite capable
with their kinetic ability, and is rather quick, they lack any
physical strength. They can’t hold their ground in hand to hand
combat without their kinetic abilities at all.[/center]

[center]◌ Sage is bisexual and nonbinary[/center]
[center]◌ They are often seen chewing on something, be it
gum, a lollipop stick, a straw, and so on.[/center]
[center]◌ "Sage" was originally a nickname, however they
eventually decided to go by it as their actual name.[/center]
[center]◌ They have a love for gardening, even if they
aren't very open about it. A school friend discovering this fact
is what began the circulation of the nickname Sage.[/center]

[left]{Sonic The Hedgehog} Sage's relationship with Sonic is
that of an impersonal one. Though the blue blur may not be able
to identify Sage beyond "Another Resistance member", if at all,
Sage has a deeply imprinted, bitter stance on the fastest thing
alive. They view him as everything they despise about heroes.
Merchandising, the fame, being praised for nothing but happening
to have the skills to protect and the possibly selfish motives
to act upon it? It all makes Sage's blood boil, and, having
never met the hedgehog themself, they have yet to have any
encounter that could make them discredit their current held
beliefs about him.[/left]

[center]{History}[/center]
[left]{Early Life} Sage had very simple beginnings. They were
raised in the city of Mobotropolis in a somewhat crowded home,
with their parents, grandmother and three siblings all under the
same roof with them. Kinetic abilities were something that
wasn't uncommon in their family, so when they began showing
signs of the ability to manipulate the earth, their grandmother
took it upon herself to become their mentor. They spent their
off-time working with their grandmother to get a better of
control of their abilities, and otherwise lead a normal life.
They were homeschooled, made friends to the best of their
abilities, and spent time goofing off and messing with their
younger siblings. When the war had come, they had already a very
good grasp on controlling their abilities, so they found it only
natural to step in.[/left]
[left]{The Resistance} Perhaps it would've been easier for Sage
to have stayed with their rather large family, what with
protection in numbers, and simply shelter themselves from
Robotnik's forces together. However, Sage was discontent with
the idea of standing by and waiting out harsh times. So, when
the opportunity arrived, Sage left their family, confident in
their ability to stay alive without them, and joined the
Resistance. There, they made themself as useful as possible,
fighting with their newly honed abilities. In the cases of their
geokinesis was deemed useless due to a lack of any source of
rock or dirt to manipulate, they continued making themself
useful as an intelligence gatherer, using their quick reflexes
to retreat from dangerous situations after getting whatever
information the Resistance needed.[/left]
[left]{Times of Peace} When the war had finally been won, Sage
returned to their family, finding them worse for wear, but
ultimately alive. They denied almost any involvement with the
Resistance, or claimed selfish reasons if those they talked to
couldn't be fooled, to avoid any praise for heroics. They hold
no interest in joining the Freedom Fighters, instead returning
to a fairly quiet life, working part-time jobs they find to help
their family remain afloat again. They occasionally do hero
work, though they do it on their own terms, and on a rather
underground level, not wanting to build any sort of reputation
for it.[/left]
