       (Event) Lady Troubles
By: Sonic Date: August 5, 2018, 9:57 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Sonic's life had been hard lately; being a hero wasn't all
statues and parades not that the public had any idea of that.
Lately his home had been burned down by his green dopplegangster
which had left him roughing it in the woods for the past two
weeks; to make matters worse he'd let his appearance fall into a
disheveled manner and was broke until the next royalty check
from Sonic themed merchandise came in a month. All that other
stuff was nothing but a trifle to the most pressing matter which
was his troubles with women. Lately Sonic has done something
he'd been regretting and the entire affair left the normally
flirty hedgehog feeling out of sorts and a tad vulnerable
emotionally. In order to escape his troubles he found a tiny
oriental bar that was quite trendy as it was always piping in
the latest tunes from all the underground bands. He sat with his
icy blue eyes starring into the bubbling beer before him while
his arms rested on the hard oak counter.
Being on his third beer Sonic wasn't even feeling buzzed as his
hyperactive metabolism broke down the alcohol before it got a
chance for him to feel intoxicated; at times like this it was
nothing short of a keg and a half to even get him feeling tipsy.
The smooth jazz caused the blue blur to tap his fingers as he
drank his beer before ordering another. No matter how hard he
tried to forget his troubles they simply assaulted his mind
causing him to rest his head on his hand as let out an annoyed
groan. "Women....." He sated before scratching at his damaged
ear looking up to the race that was playing on the outdated CRT
       television bolted above the bar.

"It's not our fault that you don't know how to play the game."
The words left Kai's mouth before she knew who they were
directed at. Instead of inspecting her surroundings with her
eyes, her ears served as her connection to the world around her.
Her eyes' current focus was the leather-bound sketchbook on the
worn wooden bar top and the glass of sweet peach chu-hi beside
it. She found a home in her casual clothes and her usual seat at
the end of the bar, closest to the speakers and farthest from
the gateway to external distraction, otherwise known the door.
Her hands were busy putting graphite to paper, their steadiness
not affected by her conversation. She continued, attempting to
soften her jab. "You just might be a bit out of touch. What
       happened?"
It wasn't that she was actually interested, quite the opposite.
However, she wanted to do her best to keep the relationships she
made here positive at least. There was a familial comfort she
found in this small dive and with the regulars, and it wouldn't
be fair if she created any bad vibes. There was a nagging voice
in the back of her head that told her that the voice was
familiar, but she ignored it. If she didn't recognize it on the
second go around, then it wasn't anyone important. Her eyes
never lifted from the pad in front of her.

Sonic smiled placing his hand upon his chest before replying.
"Out of touch? Lady I'm the most famous person on the planet.
I'm just in the crapper at the moment because I shouldn't be
dating friends." Turning around to see who was asking him the
question he let out an annoyed groan. "Speaking of my lady
troubles getting even worse it's just my luck the crazy bitch
who beams death and decay into people's brains had to wind up in
the same bar as me. Their must be dozens of watering holes in
this city and you just had to waltz into this one. I had
something I wanted to tell you but I'm not in the mood at the
moment so why don't you just piss off and I'll pretend I didn't
see you. Unless you want to spend the night in a cell that is."
He turned to look at Kai before snatching her sketch pad away
sliding it to the far end of the bar before using it as a
       coaster.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Most famous person on the planet? It was as if Kai's body was
dipped into icy water. The line she was drawing stopped short of
its goal, and she slowly turned to face the other patron. And
what she saw shook her more than any dead person could. Instead
of a lonely, down-and-out soul looking for a place to drink
their woes away, it was the blue blur himself. The one person
she didn't want to see. At this very moment, she realized that
life was truly trying to kick her ass. That and a few moments
later, when her sketchbook was snatched from her in a piss poor
attempt to mess it up. Life was just trying to kick her ass all
       the time.
She stayed in her seat, staring at him and cogs turning in her
head. Her once pleasant expression turned into a tight-lipped
frown, and her brows twisted into a conflicted scowl. If they
weren't in this bar, she would have no issue with showing him
those images again. She'd have no problem berating him either.
But, this place was like a home away from home, and she'd done
her best to keep her temper tepid since the first few times
she'd been here. There had to be some way she could save face,
and she was swimming all the channels and rivers in her brain to
find it. In the meantime, she blinded sonic, took her sketchbook
back, and returned his vision as soon as she was back in her
seat. She might've been a bitch but she didn't go around trying
       to ruin people's creative projects.
A sinister idea surfaced as she was trying to wipe the water
ring on the current page dry, but she filed it away to evaluate
later. Instead, she prepared to call him out on his obvious
       error.
"Being popular doesn't mean that you're any good with women. In
fact, it's the opposite. Since everyone already loves you, you
don't have to put in any work." She glanced at him through the
corner of her eye and pursed her lips before relaxing them,
resulting in a 'pop' sound. "And I don't do that to everyone.
Just you, because you deserved it. Corner an animal and it will
bite." Her tone grew more annoyed as she spoke. "And you are the
one who waltzed in here on me. I'm a regular here, you're not,
and it's further exemplified by your childish behavior. You have
no business talking down to me if you can't even control
yourself." She took a sip of her drink and after flipping to a
dry page, she assaulted it with fast, frustrated gestures.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Being temporarily robbed of his sight pushed Sonic over the edge
causing him to drop his playful nature in exchange for dishing
out some harsh truths. When the black void faded and the sight
of the dingy bar faded he gave a glare as he poked a finger into
her chest well above bust. "You don't get to lecture me on how
to maintain a relationship. The only reason you're not in jail
is because I feel sorry for you; It was sad seeing you scrounge
for scraps just for survival. You know what you're right because
I'm a big shot it dose make it harder to form a relationship as
already already has this idea of me in their heads; however as
long as we're dishing out harsh truths here's another you're
       nothing but a petty thief."
Sonic walked forward putting a lot of scorn into the next part
of the sentence. "People like you are parasites, get a fuckin
job like everybody else. Just because you're too lazy to work
dosen't mean you get to take whatever you like." Calming down
after that outburst he took a deep breathing holding out a hand
as he made an offer. "Look during our encounter I saw you had a
lot of potential. How'd you like to use that power something
good instead of petty theft. We could always use more talented
people like yourself in the Freedom Fighters; it dosen't pay
much but you'd be fed and have a roof over your head." Extending
his hand even further the messy hedgehog offered a sincere
smile. "Whats say we burry the hatchet and start over as team
       mates huh?"

It took a lot of effort to keep the genet from laughing. So much
that she couldn't stop the lopsided, tight-lipped smirk from
appearing on her face. Her pencil stopped before she slammed it
on the bar, and using her hand to cup her chin, she turned her
head to look at him, head to toe and back again. From his ugly
red shoes to his disheveled blue quills to the gloved hand he
held out waiting for a handshake, he reeked of a flashy kind of
arrogance that left Kai unimpressed. If this cobalt f*ckwit
thought that she would just bend over for him after saying sh*t
like that, he was wrong. And boy, was he about to learn how
       wrong he was.
"Thanks, I hate it!" She smiled at him sweetly while taking his
hand between her pointer finger and thumb, pinching it like it
was a piece of garbage she was forced to pick up. After
returning his hand to his side, she continued. "I don't see what
me pointing out your issues has to do with you not having a
backbone around attractive, unstable women either. Your pity for
me is no problem of mine. Maybe you need someone who's not
afraid to tell you that your head is stuck so far up your own
*ss that you could deep-throat your uvula."
Kaibette chuckled at her own words, grinning harder. "It'd
probably stop you from spraying so much fecal matter from your
mouth... By the way, I have a job already." She shrugged.
"Parasite, petty thief, I do what I have to, to live. If you
don't like it, too bad unless you're putting food on my table."
To put the final nail in his coffin, she turned to him
completely, sitting straight up. "And finally, no matter how
many times you and your people ask me to join your fan club, you
can't change my answer. You couldn't pay me enough to get on my
hands and knees and suck your rancid blue behind like the rest
       of 'em."
Call her crazy, but she almost felt bad about the sharp edge to
her words. Maybe his sincere smile had gotten to her, or the
alcohol had softened her up, or even the thought that she had
the potential to be useful. Regardless of what it was, it caused
that idea from earlier to come back into focus. Sonic had to at
least be some level of desperate to offer her—of all people—a
position in his entourage. And Kai knew all too well that a sad,
desperate man is a window of opportunity she played her cards
right. So, she made an impulse decision that could work in both
       of their favors.
"But," she took a sip of her drink, "I am willing to consider
joining if you can prove that it isn't just a second group of
followers who praise the ground you walk upon. Consider me a
       temporary, probationary member."

As Kai tore into him with her vile word's Sonic's eyes dropped
to an unimpressed glare as he simply shook his head. The blue
hedgehog could see this feline had it rough and the mental
images she sent spiraling into his vision earlier gave him a
sense she was more than a little mentally scarred; this caused
Sonic to cut the honestly tiring banter and get straight to the
point but not before one last playful jab. "You know your mouth
can make more than just obscenities right? First of all the
Freedom Fighters arn't my entourage; there's plenty of members
current and former who don't get along with me. Second it'd be a
chance for you to use your powers to do something good instead
of taking other peoples things. Now I'm not sure what kind of
cat you are but wouldn't you rather be standing proudly instead
of pawing through people's garbage? Well at least you're being
open minded." Sonic looked to his disheveled fur and waved the
       odor away from his nose.
"I'll give you this I've been a little worse for ware since my
place burned down and the check for my cut of Sonic branded
merchandise isn't due for another month. Look I know I'm the one
offering you help but you wouldn't happen to know a place a
hedgehog can take a shower would you? I'm kind of tired of
       bathing in the woods."

As much as she wanted to defend her lifestyle choices, Kaibette
did her best to ignore his comments. He didn't have enough brain
cells to understand her position, and her energy would be wasted
trying to push the issue. Instead, she collected her sketchbook
and drawing tools in her satchel and placed a couple bills on
the bar top before grabbing Sonic's arm and tugging him out of
the small bar. "Come on." She held her tongue about his
appearance, chaos knows she ended up the same
       way--willingly--during her depressive episodes.
"Let's go." The genet kept her pace quick as she dragged him
behind her. It would make no sense for him to run since he
didn't know where she was headed, but just in case, she
tightened her grip on his forearm as if the hedgehog was a small
child. Kai tried to keep herself neutral, but her annoyance was
apparent in her slightly fluffed tail, which lashed back in
forth the entire way to her apartment building. Rather than
going through the front entrance, she looped around to the back
of the building before dropping his arm. She slipped off her
shoes and socks as she spoke, "You can climb, right?"

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Sonic watched her tail dart back and forth noticing her
agitation surprised with how forcefully she lead him down the
city streets. When they arrived at the apartment complex Sonic
raised his hand as if to ask a question when they passed the
front door but was yanked around the back before he could react.
When the light bending thief asked if he could climb Sonic
started to lean forwards stretching out his legs. "Climb!?
Please that's for slo-mos like yourself, babe I walk on walls."
In a single swift movement the hedgehog blasted up the side of
the wall as his legs whirled into a storm of red and blue.
Sonic's speedy feat allowed him to defy gravity as his feet made
contact with the bricks swiftly allowing him to ascend as if the
verticality of a building were a normal sidewalk; reaching the
windowsill Kai's eyes were fixated on Sonic stopped waving down
to the annoyed cat with the puffy hair as he swung his sneakers
over the edge. "This one your place? I've gotta say you move
fast. You haven't even brought me a drink and you're already
inviting me back to your place." Sonic's words may have seemed
conceited but he was merely being playful it was his way of
trying to cut away all the unneeded drama their first encounter
       brought.
He leaned forward from above watching as Kai removed her shoes
and socks scratching at his damaged ear very much curious at how
she was going to scale the wall.

Kaibette clicked her tongue in distaste at his comment. Rather
than avoid his choice of topic, she rolled with it, and her tone
was deadpan. "Don't think so highly of yourself, blue balls."
She took a couple paces back, examining the brick facade for her
claw marks while stuffing her socks into her shoes. "We're both
sluts here, so there's no need for the formality." Throwing
another jab in calmed her down somewhat, but before she had the
opportunity to dwell on it, she acted. In two swift motions, she
threw her shoes upwards, aiming for a small balcony not too far
off from the sill where Sonic sat. The sliding door gonged
briefly after the shoes slammed against it, then the footwear
fell to the floor. The genet followed after them, extending the
ivory claws of her hands and paw-like feet and scampering up the
       wall with relative ease.
Upon reaching the balcony, she collected her sneakers and
slipped inside. There was no move made to welcome Sonic into her
tiny studio. It's not like she was happy to have him there in
the first place, and that was compounded by the fact that her
place was--in short--a hot mess. It was cluttered with dirty
dishes and art related artifacts. The balcony opened up to a
small sitting area, made smaller by a couple half-done
watercolor paintings and various supplies. Across from that was
a TV, behind that a bed, and beside the bed was the door to the
bathroom. After stepping around her chaos and the dirty laundry
that dotted the floor, she stopped near the kitchen and motioned
       with her hand.
"The bathroom is over here. Don't use all my soap, don't waste
my water, and don't use my towel." Her tail returned to its
whipping motion; just thinking about someone else touching her
stuff or moving things around or filled her with a special kind
of unease. Hell, just letting someone else into her home was
uncomfortable, and the fact that it was Sonic just multiplied
the feeling. Not even her close friends have seen anything past
the small kitchen at the door. Well--they wouldn't have if she
had any close friends. The thought twisted her face into a dazed
frown, dusted her cheeks with a rosy hue, pinned her ears back,
and kept her focus on the world inside her head.
