The mundane life of a witch. (Valentine and Reck only)
By: Valentine Date: August 1, 2018, 5:19 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
After her escapade in town from a while ago, Valentine had
remained to her quiet cottage in the forest. She had taken her
time to prepare provisions and pickle food and various organic
components that her brother had brought her from his hunting
parties. The Witch happily sang to herself while sweeping her
kitchen for she had invited a guest to join her for the day. Her
mandragoras had grown nice and well but she required assistance
to pick them and Sacha was away and didn't say when he'd be
back. Val knew that he usually meant that he wouldn't be here
for days and the vixen would have to occupy herself and clean
the house before doing any magic ritual or summoning. After all,
a clean house was a good house. ''And as you sweep the room.
Imagine that the broom is someone that you love. And soon
you'll find you're dancing to the tune''She sang while sweeping.
It was the first time she had company, it was the right
opportunity to purify the house. While a few house spirits
danced to her song, two brownies went outside to milk the goat,
knowing they would be fed later as would the domovoi who
followed her from the old word to care about her house in the
new world.

As the porcupine got himself ready to go to Valentines to help
her pick her mandragoras. Reck decided to wear what he wore when
working in his workshop. A greenish grey track suit and a grey
bandana. Tucking his spell book into its sling the porcupine was
just about ready to go. Walking from his apartment above his
shop to his workshop he grabs his work gloves. Reck looks to his
spellbook nestled in the sling. "Well, are you ready to go?" He
asks, not expecting an answer. The book only makes sounds when
it wants to. Since Val gave him the location of her cottage,
Reck had no problem tearing a portal from his workshop to Val's
yard. Checking a clock in the workshop. "I'm a tad early but I'm
sure she wont mind." Reck steps through the portal and closes it
behind him. He looks around at Val's yard and cottage astounded
by how old world she really his and how spirits just roamed her
yard doing work. He walks to her cottage and knocks on the door.
"Valentine, It's Reck." He says waiting for her to come let him
in.

Val was still sweeping the floor when she sensed a strong
magical aura. 'It must be my guest...' She thought and left the
broom finish the job by itself while she went to open the door.
''Reck! Please do come inside, I was just sweeping, but the
broom can handle it.''She said chuckling and presented her
kitchen with a gesture. ''This would be where I craft spells and
brew potions, and hehe...''She felt a little embarrassed that
she hadn't prepared anything to snack for her guest. ''Are you
hungry? Or thirsty? I have water from the well and I think
pickled turnips.''She kindly offered him.

Reck makes his way into Val's home taking in his surroundings.
Staring at the broom working on its own something he hadn't seen
since his school days. 'Sure would like to be able to clean like
this.' Thinking while changing his attention to her kitchen.
Picking up and some looking over some jars of ingredients left
on the counter. "Are you doing any brewing today? If you are I
would love to observe." His curiosity to her magic gleaming. As
Val offers him some food Reck raises his hands. "Oh no. Val, I'm
good I just had breakfast." The thought of pickled turnips
turning his stomach.

''Anyhow I need to request your help to help me pick the
mandragora out of the ground, but they are pesky plants.'' She
said grabbing her sickle and shovel from the wall and headed
outside to go in the garden. At first glance, it looked like a
normal garden, but something was off. There were a few poisonous
plants growing and a few more that definitely weren't common
trade around. The Vixen walked up to the mandragoras she had
grown and grabbed the leaves of one of those nasty plants. ''I
must warn you, these plants have semi-sentient roots that tend
to be anthropomorphic in shape. It's a form of aggressive
mimicry and they have quite the defence capabilities, so I hope
you are ready because I won't be able to protect you.''

Following Val to her garden Reck can only recognize a few plants
in her garden. "Potion ingredients?" The porcupine wonders to
himself. As they get to the mandragoras Reck listens to what
Val says. One of his hands glow with a light blue aura. "If they
get too violent I'll give 'em a good freeze." Reck laughs.
"Really though, how much trouble can some plants be?" Reck
kneels next to Valentine. "You're just going to have to show me
what to do. I've never tended a magic garden of this scale."
Reck looks around the yard noticing that her raven was no where
to be found. "So, uhh.. where's your familiar. I figured Poe
stayed close to keep you on watch."

''No, he's wise enough to avoid being around those dreaded
plants. And well, freezing them would ruin the roots. You're a
wizard, aren't you suppose to learn about magical plants?''She
asked the porcupine while giving him an inquisitive
look.''Perhaps I should just do it myself without help, their
screams are deafening and sometimes can kill an average adult.
That's why Poe stays away and usually Sacha helps me, he is a
ranger and a good botanist. He grew up taking care of mother's
garden when I was too young to.'' She explained briefly before
grabbing the leaf of the plant, she was about to pull the roots
out.

Reck rubs the back of his head nervously. "I... I've never had
much of a green thumb. I took a botany class at the school, but
one accident and they kick you out. I tried to use a growth
spell on something I shouldn't have and it might have attacked
the professor." Reck's eyes shift away as he still rubs his
head. "Do you feel I shouldn't be here Valentine? It seems you
don't think I can handle the yell of the plants. If its about
the freezing thing it was a joke..." Reck watches Val closely as
she grabs the leaves of the plants. "Is Sacha your brother?"
Reck asks trying to break some of the tension.
