[i] If she'd been at full strength mentally and physically
there's no way that Shadows sudden arrival would have skirted
past her so easily. However Amy was even more frail in condition
right now and she'd picked up his arrival with little issue. Wow
she really was exhausted. Large ears twitching, Sonya tried her
best to fit together an expression that looked less drained than
she was currently feeling. Her attention briefly flickering to
the black hedgehog, she offered up a timid if not polite smile.
"Hey there." the next couple of moments filled with silence, the
fennec stood from her place at her friends bedside, absent
mindedly fiddling with the cuff of her medical coat. "Amy ..
i'm going to grab you a snack from the hospital canteen, the last
thing you probably feel like doing is eating, but doing so will
help excuse me."
Giving her friends hand a gentle parting squeeze, off she went.
Much as she didn't particularly want to leave her friend by
herself at that moment intuition was telling her strongly that
for reasons unknown that it was probably best to give the pair
some alone time.

Shadow nodded as response towards the drained fennec,
recognizing her almost immediately, "We've acquainted, Sonya and
I were there trying to save the Orphanage remember?" he can
recalled a time they got off on a rocky start when having dinner
with Sonic's friends, despite this he and Sonya worked together
trying to bring down Scourge and they almost succeeded.
He watched the doctor leave the room to go get a snack for the
bed ridden patient, he focused on Amy examining her injury from
his standing position. "Who did this to you?" showing a hint of
concern underneath his rough exterior.

Amy Rose nodded to Sonya, “Alright, thank you again, Sonya.” she
said to her friend, then turned to Shadow. Her eyes widened when
he asked who did this and the memories of what happened in high
definition detail came flooding to the front of her mind.
A chill ran through her blood as her relaxed posture stiffened
and her weary countenance became more alert as fear gripped her
soul. Tears welled up and fell down her cheeks as she kept her
eyes locked to Shadow's. “S-Scourge... It was Scourge. He-” She
broke off as a sob erupted from her chest. “He broke into my
house. I... I... Oh, Shadow!”
Her hand reached out for his to pull him closer. She needed the
physical comfort and support of someone she trusted to keep her
safe. “He attacked me in my own home! He had his hands around my
throat!” her voice hadn't quite healed yet from being strangled
and it had begun to get raspy. “He cut me! He stabbed me! He
tried to murder me!” She couldn't stop the tears if she tried,
and yet, despite it being Shadow here, she felt that at least he
could handle them. “I-I was so scared! I thought I was going to
die...” The terror of her experience was as fresh as the wounds
on her body. She was completely beside herself as she would bury
her face in Shadow's torso.

He felt his body being edged closer to Amy, the girl wished for
the ebony hedgehog to give her necessary comfort. Shadow didn't
utter a word to object nor made very little attempt to resist
her emotional spill, his presence in the room served to remind
her a friend is here to support her time of need. Her tears of
despair painted a visual picture, a freedom fighter helpless and
defeated in his eyes, who can blame her, she could've died and
never end up in the hospital, the time he spent with Amy
would've been for nothing if she is gone, thank heavens mother
Chaos has plans for her.
Amy planted her face on his chest causing Shadows to stiffen in
surprise, his body relaxed its muscles, feeling her tear
dripping down his fur. He allowed her to rest her head on his
chest for another minute before he rest the woman's head back on
the pillow "Save your strength Amy, you are safe here, he wont
hurt you anymore, I will make sure of it" Shadow clenched a
fist, narrowing his eyes in determination.
That son of a b.itch did this to her, the bastard is responsible
for taking away her joy, because of him, her home is no longer
safe place to live, it will take a while for Amy to recover from
near fatal wounds like that, Shadow is mentally kicking himself
for not being there to save her, he would've put a stop to him
before anyone gets hurt, Sonic duplicate or not. Shadow will
hunt him down to tear him apart. Scourge will realize he
should've stayed dead among the victims of the orphanage, He
will pay dearly for his actions.

As Amy was made to lay back down on her pillow she was reluctant
to let go of his hand, but as fatigue overcame her, so did her
grip become weaker until her hand dropped back onto the bed. She
took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I don't want to
be scared, Shadow. I should have been more careful, I... I
should have been more prepared, and now that he's targeting me
for what I did...” She shook her head. “I should
have seen this coming.” Had her sixth sense taken an off
day or something? Now that she thought about it, her current
lifestyle has not been conducive to her second sight. She needed
to strengthen her clairvoyance once again.
“What am I going to do, Shadow? I was lucky the first time
I beat him. I had help but this time.... this time, I didn't see
him coming. I was alone. If I can get stronger, or faster; will
it be enough? Is there some training I can
do?[color=hotpink]” She looked into his eyes for the
answers. “I don't want to ever be helpless like that
again.”

He sense the fire in Amy's eyes, a desire to a change after
going that horrifying experience. Though in difference
circumstances, it reminded Shadow of how he wanted to improve
himself following his battle with that blue egotistical jackass,
Amy is here wishing for the same for herself, requesting Shadow
for advice to get started. Pretty ironic how both of them are
going through a turning point in their life because of a
meddling hedgehog. Shadow didn't take his eyes off of the
patient unsure if its a good idea for her to think about
training when she is supposed to be recovering.
"Yes" hesitant to answer, he gave her the benefit of the doubt
despite his own feelings. "No doubt Scourge is a formidable foe,
anyone will have a hard time defeating him in a one on one
confrontation, at the end of the day he is just a cowardly
imitation of Sonic, if you are familiar with Sonic's fighting
style for as long as you've known him,, you should have a
general idea on how to best him in combat"assuming Amy did some
practice sparring with her crush in the past.
Shadow placed his thumb and index finger on his chin for a
moment, shifting his eyes away from Amy before they focus on her
again. "On the other hand Scourge will do anything to win a
fight, he isn't above resorting to cheap methods such as pulling
a weapon in the middle of battle, in that case we will have to
do something about that" he said.

The impossibilities of defeating one Scourge were beginning to
grow like binding weeds in her mind, they dug into her
confidence and tried to smother her faith in herself. She shook
her head to clear her head of the dark thoughts as a determined
expression set on her face. "Would you teach me? There are a few
similarities of your combat form to Sonic's. I... don't know if
I should ask him to help me. But I will if you think it's best.
I could use all the help I can get. I cannot keep hoping for
last-minute rescues." she took a deep breath, shifting to get
more comfortable on the pillow.
"Thank you for visiting me, Shadow. It brings me happiness."

He shook his head "I will train you myself, soon as you're in
better condition"deemed it unnecessary to recruit Sonic, he is
still sour from the whole ordeal with his rival, almost ruined
his plan to help Amy move on from her idol. Based on the stories
Amy told about him, Shadow isn't quite sure if he could trust
those two alone without Sonic jeopardizing her growth. Amy
realize it too from the way she hesitated mentioning his name.
The brooding individual wondered what is taking that fennec
woman so long to bring her food? Who knows how long Amy has been
couped up in here without eating anything. Shadow knows there
isn't a lot he could do to speed up her recovery, better to let
the professionals handle it. All he can do is keep her
nourishment in check. Shadow left Amy's side to walk towards the
door entry, he paused to receive her gratitude. "Don't mention
it, I'll be right back," he headed for the cafeteria to purchase
a plate of mashed potatoes with gravy and a juice box, he
retrieved a small tray to hold his order, carrying it back to
Amy's room.
He entered without saying a word, placed the tray on the bed in
front of her, a spoon is laid one side of her plate, napkins on
the other. "Eat"he leaned on a wall, folding his arms.

Amy blinked when he excused himself and glanced around the room
while she waited, then looked down at her thigh. Her fingers
touched the wound lightly through the cover as she sat there
thinking of all that happened. When Shadow returned she was
surprised to see him with a tray of food.
"Eat."
That... that was so sweet of him. She stared at him for a moment
then obediently picked up the spoon and ate the smooth potato
mush and savoury brown gravy. It felt good to have something in
her stomach. She made quick work of the apple juice and sipped
once more on her water. "Thanks, Shadow. That was delicious."
Albeit, hospital food was never the best thing, but when
something is given in an act of kindness it adds value to the
said thing.
Amy leaned back against the pillow, feeling drowsy despite just
waking up. "Hey, Shadow? May I ask a question?" She paused and
then said. "Why do you eat coffee beans raw?"

Good Question...Shadow doesn't remember why he enjoyed consuming
those bitter tasting edibles or when did he develop such a
strange craving for them, he is hesitant to come up with an
answer, mostly because no one has brought up the subject before.
"I don't know, perhaps I find it quick and effective to take my
coffee directly from the source than to waste time making it
from scratch" he replied shrugging his shoulders, his posture
remained the same.
Granted the advantages of drinking the liquid variation is
having a much better taste than eating beans, at this point he
has well adjusted to endure its bitterness even if he doesn't
like it.
