       The Robotnik Paradox
By: Sonic Date: July 22, 2018, 5:39 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Rows upon rows of shattered metallic servants littered the
battlefield now naught more but piles of scrap and sparking
wires with a blue hedgehog standing at the tail-end of the
destruction. The blue blur seemed a little worse for ware like
time was finally catching up with him, he was covered in scars
and the hue of his deep blue fur was becoming a lot lighter in
his later years; his muzzle was unkempt and his signature red
sneakers were aged beyond recognizability. He looked down over
the shattered cockpit of Eggman's latest creation and raised his
worn sneaker above the rim of the driver's seat. Sonic's voice
was rough and rugged as years and years of pushing his body
beyond it's limits had taken it's toll.
"I'd love to crack you open like the fragile egg you are but
then Karahl would never let me hear the end of it. Besides it'd
be hardly worth it anymore......Just look at you, you're
pathetic; you need a machine to breath for you and you look like
you'd break a hip just by standing up. Face it Robotnik you've
lost. You're too old to rule the world anymore and while I'm
past my prime I've got plenty of time left in me, I've spawned
and even made myself a legend. How the mighty have fallen....the
once fearsome Dr. Robotnik and now look at you."
Sonic didn't smile because he felt a sense of pity for his
mortal enemy looking over his sorry state. "You've
failed......why not run home to your own planet while you've
still got some time left?" He suggested as a final act of
compassion for the man that had helped forgive him into a living
       legend.

The Overlander wheezed as he stared down the hedgehog from his
hovercraft; gnarled and bony fingers spread across the various
buttons and switches on the board that were hidden from view. He
had spent most of his life trying to conquer Mobius for the long
term and had failed many times; a lot of which were thanks to
Sonic and his friends. The scientist was however, persistent; if
anything his passion, drive and determination to laugh at the
face of failure and keep going would probably be a quality worth
       admiring.
But was it really all worth it? All these years later? What did
       such dedication accomplish?
The life support he was hooked up to breathed in tandem with
what would have been calculated as comfortable for the elderly
       doctor.
[font=courier][You are hardly a prime specimen yourself, Sonic
the Hedgehog. Perhaps you should, as the organics say, put your
money where your mouth is.] [/font]The metallic and eerie,
feminine voice echoed through the chambers in an almost ghostly
way. Its voice sounded mature, almost with a parental tone with
       how it carried its voice.
Eggman coughed harshly as he raised a hand, commanding silence
from the artificial entity. Whatever or wherever it was, it
didn’t seem to have a body of its own like the many robots under
       the scientist’s command, [glow=orange,2,300]“No, no, it’s
alright Mainframe. He’s right.”[/glow] he uttered. There was a
glint being those thick red spectacles he wore as a labored sigh
       escaped him.
       [font=courier][But Ivo-][/font]
       [glow=orange,2,300]“Mainframe. Enough.”[/glow] he asserted with
an irritable glance towards a general direction as he subtly
pressed a button with a gentle press from one of his fingers.
       [font=courier][…]
       […]
       […]
       [… Acknowledged.][/font]
At the last question he heard from the hedgehog, a wheezy, aged
laugh rippled from the old man, [glow=orange,2,300]“Oh Sonic, if
only if it were that easy. Going back now would be a waste of
time. If I had done that years ago, maybe I could have started
anew on something else, but now? No, it is too late for
me.”[/glow] he replied, [glow=orange,2,300]“While you have cost
me a fortune and have been an infuriating adversary, the very
least I could do is commend you for being just as dedicated as I
am for being able to put a stop to the plans of a genius time
       and time again.”[/glow]
There was a bite of begrudging spite to his words, but they were
also honest words. Was he finally admitting defeat after all of
       these years?
[glow=orange,2,300]“I suppose I would have played a role in
making you a legend hmm?”[/glow] he continued as his fingers
pressed more buttons without the slightest movements of his
hands, wrists and even arms, [glow=orange,2,300]“Do humor an old
man for me, Sonic, after all of these years of fighting and you
and your little friends becoming closer after all of those
       triumphs… what am I to you?”[/glow]

       Re: The Robotnik Paradox
By: Sonic Date: July 22, 2018, 6:45 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Sonic raised an eyebrow before shaking his head dismissively at
the AI's petty jab; Sonic had always considered artificial
intelligence and robots nothing more than the code that
comprised them thus making it easy for him to disregard it's
comments. When Robotnik commend Sonic on a life well lived and
battles well fought, it caused the blue hedgehog to back up a
little as he felt uneasy: did his hated foe just complement him?
This raised all kinds of conflicting emotions to swell up in
Sonic with Robotnik's following question causing further
internal struggle. It wasn't meant to be like this, he was meant
to be cursing his name and swearing vengeance from the darkest
pits of his soul. What was Robotnik to Sonic? Their relationship
       was complex and couldn't be pinpointed down by a single factor;
on one hand he was the reason for all the suffering in Sonic's
life, however on the other hand he also saved him from drowning
as a child and gave him his name. Sonic wouldn't have lived to
become the legend he was if the mad doctor hadn't of taken pity
on a small shivering hedgehog all those years ago.
In someways Sonic felt like Robotnik was the only family he had
until his Uncle Chuck took him in but then he could never look
past the horrors he committed in the name of progress. Finally
getting a hold of himself he blurted out in annoyance. "Cut the
crap Ivo! Whats you're angle? You've never talked like this
before; why start now? Look you're beaten! Just leave Mobius
before Karahl busts in here and tears you apart for what you've
done to Sapphire. Consider it repayment for that solid you did
me all those years ago." Ever the impatient one Sonic slammed
his hands down onto the machine's console rearing at the old
timer. "Don't act like we're friends! You've hurt my family,
killed countless friends and even tried to kill my daughters."
This time he slammed his foot onto the overlander's wrist
stopping him from typing any further. "I won't tell you a third
       time."

The scientist adjusted his spectacles so that he could have a
better look at the hedgehog. His reaction was certainly
       interesting.
A raspy snicker reverberated from him,
       [glow=orange,2,300]“You hesitated. You never hesitate.
It’s intriguing to see how such a simple question
didn’t provide an answer but provoked more
questions.”[/glow] he pointed as he raised a left, shaky
hand to stroke his mustache slowly,
[glow=orange,2,300]“Perhaps I am more than a villain to
       you?”[/glow]
He paused to cough profusely into his left hand, even spitting
up spots of blood in the process, [glow=orange,2,300]“As
you have so aptly pointed out, Sonic, I’m beaten.
That’s my angle. I’m finished. Have I disappointed
you? I’d love to relive the good old days where I’d
scream in frustration and swear vengeance but alas, time is just
out of my reach now. It doesn’t make a difference to me
whether or not that tiger finds me.”[/glow]
When Sonic slammed his foot over the right hand, it also pressed
a crucial button underneath it with more force. It also caused
for Eggman winced and grunted in pain… but soon after a
devious grin stretched at his lips,
[glow=orange,2,300]“Oh, we are anything but friends,
Sonic, but it was sweet of you to remember the day we first
       met.”[/glow]
[font=courier][Command acknowledged. It is pleasantly surprising
to find you so agreeable, Sonic the Hedgehog.] [/font]the
computer announced and all of a sudden, Eggman had vanished in a
flash of light and had been teleported into the next room. He
looked through the bullet proof glass and cackled hoarsely. In
this chamber all exits and gaps had suddenly been sealed off
simultaneously, leaving no way out for one of Mobius’
       greatest heroes.
       [font=courier][Hyper Robotosizer Online.][/font]
The entire chamber Sonic was in lit up with hundreds of blinding
       lights.
[glow=orange,2,300]“Oh, you might want to take a moment to
admire the walls here. I put a lot of hard work into them. I'm
sure you will soon find out that it nullifies that pesky phasing
you do. Go ahead! Give it a shot! Maybe a Spindash and some sort
of 90s quip while you're at it! Ha!"[/glow] he sneered,
[glow=orange,2,300]"You know, now that you have brought that up
I’m almost sad that it has ended this way
too…”[/glow] he then paused to stroke his mustache
       before laughing manically, [glow=orange,2,300]“On second
       thought, nah!”[/glow]
       [font=courier][Initiating Robotosization Sequence in
       three…][/font]
[glow=orange,2,300]“I was counting on you to have plenty
of time left in you –”[/glow]
       [font=courier][-two…][/font]
[glow=orange,2,300]“- So much more than you
       realize!”[/glow]
       [font=courier][…One.][/font]
The turbines in the chamber whirred to life, walls vibrated,
metal panels clicked and whirred and the lights flashed in
spontaneous yet in sequential orders as the giant machine
       charged.
[glow=orange,2,300]“It’s the end of the line for you
too, I guess you wouldn’t need to tell me a third time,
       hmmm?”[/glow]

By: Sonic Date: July 22, 2018, 8:10 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Sonic quickly darted for the exit only to have the walls seal
themselves up to prevent his escape. Hearing the booming voices
of Robotnik and his CPU being projected into the room only
annoyed the hedgehog as he frantically dashed around looking for
an exit. When he heard what had activated he smiled simply
shaking his head. "This was your final play? You tried this when
I was sixteen and it didn't work back then." With a smug smirk
the grizzled hedgehog's eyes started to surge with lightning as
he tried to channel that energy into the rest of his body; Sonic
was naturally fast but it was this trick that allowed him to
preform the mind bending feats other speedsters could only dream
of. Sonic felt an odd sensation when he didn't feel the energy
go shooting into the rest of his body like usual, the
electricity within his eyes shorted out causing rouge sparks to
       escape his fingertips.
He tried to skip the power up and jump straight into phasing
causing his body so speed up but no matter how hard he tried his
image remained solid. Trying one last time he focused all the
kinetic energy in his body into his core, he started to speed up
and his cells entered a state of excitement they needed to be in
to allow Sonic to phase. Looking down at his fingers they
started to blur for a second causing Sonic to smile. "Come
on...." However before long physics of the room forced Sonic's
cells to return to normal thus causing the blue hedgehog to fall
to the ground in exhaustion. He bolted over to the the bullet
proof glass and glared daggers at his hated foe. "You just had
to have the last word didn't you? You dumber than I gave you
credit for. You may use me to conquer Mobius but it's not like
it'll do you any good. Whats an empire without a king to lord
over it? You've got what, six months left in you?" Taking a
moment to pause Sonic was thankful time was on his side, due to
Eggman's advanced age Sonic would likely go offline and remain
motionless after six months had passed.
Taking a deep breath as he waited for the inevitable before he
glared deep into the old eyes of Robotnik as if peering into his
black soul. "If you are to carry one thing with you for the rest
of your days know this; when you finally get to hell I'll be
waiting for you." Is all he said after the countdown reached
zero. Normally being roboticized was a painful process as
organic matter was converted to copper and steel however Sonic
refused to give Dr. Robotnik the satisfaction of hearing him
scream. To Sonic it seemed like this torture lasted an eternity
when the process only lasted but a single second; when the flash
was over a machine comprised of cobalt titanium stood at the
center of the room. This new unit was a crowning jewel of
engineering that was cutting edge in every aspect imaginable. It
has razor sharp claws, piercing red eyes and a critically
unstable storm drive at its core powering the mechanical
monstrosity. Irony had favored Sonic this time as he had finally
become that which he had fought against and was about to become
       a tool of unspeakable evil.
This was the birth of Metal Mecha Sonic: Storm Drive 001

       Re: The Robotnik Paradox

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Watching Sonic frantically look for an exit and attempt to make
his own via Phasing brought all kinds of delight from within the
       elderly man.
[glow=orange,2,300]"Yes that's true but even geniuses such as
myself make mistakes every once in a while; but a good scientist
analyses where he went wrong and learns from it. Improves from
it."[/glow] he replied somewhat irritably whilst busying his
fingers by pressing a series of buttons with surprising finesse
and accuracy for an elder man; to ensure that the process
continued. Although, at the same time, he was also expecting for
him to make one of his miraculous escapes at the last second or
for more of his friends to arrive to the rescue in just the nick
       of time.
[font=courier][All seems to be going according to plan,
Ivo.][/font] the computer almost cooed with its eerie,
       mechanical voice.
[glow=orange,2,300]"Don't hold your breath, Mainframe. He will
probably find a way out despite my ingenious efforts. He always
       does..." [/glow]
[font=courier][The Anarachy Shells are primed and ready for
launch in case of such a set back, Ivo.] ][/font]it then
       informed.
The doctor nodded slowly as he took a moment to catch his
       breath, [glow=orange,2,300]"Yes... yes good... hmmm..."[/glow]
[font=courier][What else is bothering you, dear Ivo?]][/font] it
then asked in an oddly motherly way; it was almost though it
simulated some form of emotion or attachment to the engineer?
       [glow=orange,2,300]"I have regrets."[/glow]
       [font=courier][About what?]][/font]
[glow=orange,2,300]"I should have launched the Anarachy Project
a long time ago."[/glow] he then explained while watching Sonic
struggle carefully,[glow=orange,2,300] "Things would have been a
lot better for everyone back then..."[/glow]
He didn't have time to ruminate further for his thoughts were
disrupted when a cwrtain headgehog had pressed himself against
the glass and shout at him. The doctor then raised a
brow,[glow=orange,2,300] "You've always been a sore loser Sonic,
something I'm willing to admit that we have in common. You'd
also be surprised with how much I can do without you running
around. Still, take it from someone who knows, take it all in
good stride. You win some and you lose some." [/glow]he then
chuckled as his eyes watched the readings for the Hyper
Robotosizer,[glow=orange,2,300] "You will never die if I have
anything to say about it. Isn't that nice? I'm granting you a
       gift. A gift of immortality."[/glow]
The count down had finally reached zero and in a split second
the Sonic they all grew to know and hate was gone; instead
metal being stood in his place. Silence lingered for the
following seconds as Eggman stared wide-eyed at the result
       before him.
       [font=courier][Hyper Robotosization Sequence complete.
       Congratulations, Ivo.]][/font]
       [glow=orange,2,300]"... I-I did it?!"[/glow] he exclaimed
suddenly, causing for his red specatacles to tumble off of his
nose and fall onto his lap. In response a slender, metal arm
appeared from behind a panel on the wall and reached for the
spectacles to place it back on its rightful place with great
care; even with an almost affectionate touch to it as well.
[glow=orange,2,300]"Quick! Mainframe! I need an immediate scan
sweeping the area of the entire base and the outskirts! His
ruddy friends are bound to show up any second and ruin
       everything!"[/glow]

[font=courier][No extraterrestrial life has been detected.]

[glow=orange,2,300]"Maybe some sort of diety or anything that
has a link to the Chaos Emeralds or Energy could be here? Maybe
some sort of object that Sonic manages to use to get out of this

       somehow?"[/glow]
[font=courier][No oragnic, non-organic or otherwise that does

[glow=orange,2,300]"Run a thorough diagnostic scan on your
systems, just in case something has been compromised or missed!"
       [/glow]
[font=courier][Ivo!]][/font] it exclaimed as though it had just
been violated,[font=courier] [I assure you that all of my
systems and all of which I am connected to are running at
optimum efficiency with absolutely no errors.]][/font]
Eggman leaned back in his chair and placed a sore right hand to
the side of his head,[glow=orange,2,300] "So, this is it? It
       really happened?" [/glow]
[font=courier][I did just congratulate you, Ivo. Well
       done.]][/font]
The elderly man took another moment to breathe as he stared at
the artifical form that was once Sonic the Hedgehog,
       [glow=orange,2,300] "I really did it."[/glow] he repeated
quietly before shouting out again, [glow=orange,2,300] "After
all these years I've finally done it!" [/glow]
He then cackled as he got got to his feet and pumped a fist into
the air, then winced and pressed a hand over his sore back from
       moving up so 'quickly'.
[font=courier][Please be careful, Ivo.]][/font] the computer
cautioned over the groans of pain of the Overlander's.
[glow=orange,2,300]"Mhmm."[/glow] he grunted just after he had
flicked a switch which had opened up the wall with the bullet
proof glass window in front of him so that he could shuffle on
over to have a closer look at this new 'Sonic'. Several lights
flickered in a particular pattern along one side of the wall as
Eggman made his way over; it was almost as though Mainframe had
been watching over him carefully. It didn't say anything to the
newly transformed Sonic, but it somehow gave the impression that
only machines and Eggman's intimate understanding of engineering
would comprehend that Mainframe would be ready to act if
anything were to attack its beloved Eggman.
The scientist shuffled closer for a better inspection, pacing
around the new robot and admiring his form.
[glow=orange,2,300]"Mmhmm sleek design. I must say I have
outdone myself with upgrading the Hyper Robotosizer. I was
expecting a far more obtuse design as drawn out in my initial
plans... but it seems he has a sleeker design closer to Metal
Sonic when compared to the Mecha sonic blue prints... hmmmm...
       how intruiging! Mavelous! Absolutely marvelous!"[/glow]
       [font=courier][You have outdone yourself, Ivo.]][/font]
       Mainframe concurred.
[glow=orange,2,300]"He needs a new name! Sonic will simply no
longer do! Hmmm I wonder..."[/glow]he then paused to tap his
chin and then proclaimed, [glow=orange,2,300]"It can't be
anything else other than Metal Mecha Sonic: Storm Drive
       001!"[/glow]
The engineer stopped in front of the robotosized hedgehog to
look over him once again, [glow=orange,2,300]"Hmmm that is a
bit of a mouthful to say all the time. So, attention Metal Mecha
