       [Arc: Middle] Corrupted Cat
By: Caroline Bishop Date: July 18, 2018, 7:27 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Far from the city the two had just been in and far away from
being anywhere near people and animals, Doubles and Caroline
would suddenly reappear to where Doubles had sent for them to
go. Overall the area looked abandoned and barren aside from bits
of broken tech scattered out about the sand along with
differently sized chunks of rock. The sky was cloudy and overall
the area was rather open. A great place for someone overloading
with energy like she was to do so and not get anyone hurt in the
process. Or at least to hurt less then she would've back at
Mobotropolis, there were still two individuals here at risk but
at least the city would be safe. For now.
Caroline would feel a jolt in her gut after the warp was done
the shock of someone getting close enough to even pull one off
finally catching up to her and hitting her hard enough to cause
her to fall over into the sand. She stayed there for a few
moments before raising her hands, extending her claws before
then clawing at the sand and bringing her head up, the burning
red glow returning to her eyes as she pushed herself back up to
her feet and turned to face Doubles in swift movements.
"[shadow=red, right]You should've listened to that mutt. He was
trying to save you.[/shadow]" She hissed her eyes still burning
a bright crimson, energy steaming out of them as she spoke.
"[shadow=red, right]Now you're stuck here with me. You can't save
her. She is already gone.[/shadow]" The cat would hold out her
hands, cocking her head to the side as she seemed to flick
through a few things by just clicking her fingers. At first her
palms lit up with burning red flames, then they snuffed
themselves out and became balls of water, which was then quickly
replaced with oozing lumps of lava that caused her to bring her
hands back, letting the lava hit the ground between them
instead. Looking back to Doubles despite this though she would
hiss, adding onto what she'd said before, "[shadow=red, right]And
       soon, you will be too.[/shadow]"
With moves as swift as before when she'd gotten back to her
feet, she'd raise a leg and swing it round to land a hard kick
to Doubles' gut, aiming to knock him off his feet and
potentially wind him. "[shadow=red, right]You've made a grave
mistake for someone you hardly even know anything about. What an
idiot.[/shadow]" It was becoming more and more clear that
currently he was not directly dealing with Caroline herself and
it was almost as if he was dealing with the core of her power in
itself as though it was in itself a person, using Caroline as a
shell to act upon. Her body was there, but her heart surely
       wasn't.
Lifting up her hands again a grin would spread across the
feline's face, enough that her fangs began the even show
through. With her hands back up she'd click again to reactivate
a power before then throwing her hands out to the sides. There
would be a large rush of air and the cat would then make a
circular motion, which the wind followed suit of, picking up
sands as it went, eventually creating a tornado that reached up
to the clouds above, leaving the two mobians to be in the eye of
it. She didn't leave it there though, keeping one hand to keep
motioning the tornado to keep spinning, while the other clicked
       to activate another power.
Soon, the lava she'd been cautious of just before erupted from
her hands again but this time, rather then to let it fall to
nothing, she aimed it up to the tornado putting the two powers
together as one, with a little bit of time and small failed
attempts 'Caroline' would eventually merge the two completely
together, getting the lava to join the tornado along with the
sand in the air around them. Upon achieving this her eyes would
burn brighter and the cat would let out a cackle that sounded
nothing like Caroline in the slightest. "[shadow=red, right]Yes!
She can achieve so much more in this state! Even now without me
in charge she can only manage one power at a time.
       Pathetic![/shadow]" It'd spit in disgust before it'd bring it's
tail down, and with a powerful stomp of a foot, it'd smash off
the cuffed bell Caroline kept around the end of her tail, before
then raising it's hands back up to the bubbling and boiling
tornado, "[shadow=red, right]Hotter! Hotter! Let it rain
glass![/shadow]" Looking back to Doubles with it's hands still
raised to the sky it'd cackle lightly again, the odd sound
vibrating at the back of it's throat, "[shadow=red, right]I'm
curious honestly, why you'd risk your life to move me.. here?
Was it to save the girl? Or just the city? Because you won't be
saving either like this I'm afraid[/shadow]" It's tail would
flicking mockingly before it then continued, raising up it's
chin slightly, "[shadow=red, right]Who are you really anyway?
Even she can't quite put her finger on it in her mind, she just
recalls something about that fancy armour you're wearing..
       [/shadow]"

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Thankful that his improvisation and swift planning had worked as
intended, Doubles silently congratulated himself. Given that he
was the one that knew exactly where the two were going and how,
Doubles didn't suffer from any surprise. Knowing the location in
depth had various perks, and understanding what is where, was
very much one of them. So as soon as he appeared he rolled
forward and quickly turned to face Caroline who had barely
managed to stand. Fully expecting some form of violence to
commence in due time, Doubles' calculative mind did it's work as
Caroline spoke, making every efficient mathematically educated
guess he possibly could. [shadow=white, left]"Goodness gracious,
Twinkle isn't a very good influence on you. Tsk tsk, young lady.
No name-calling."[/shadow] Using what he had seen of Caroline so
far, he had a rather good idea of how far she could go; studying
Metamobian abilities, physiology and powers for most of his life
gave him a solid factual advantage here. Adding to that, his
experience with his own ability— something that was both factual
and emotional or personal knowledge— added to this advantage.
Doubles' main theory given what he had experienced thus far was
that Caroline's stressed state caused her ability to in a sense
'run away from her'. The fact that the feline before him spoke
so oddly only made the theory more believable.
[shadow=white, left]"Hm. How unfortunate of you to think
so."[/shadow] Evidently, very few people knew about how
tenacious Doubles could get. He didn't mind, being
underestimated was always something that was fun to work with.
Then came the aforementioned violence. Normally Doubles would
attempt to move aside, but there was a benefit to simply taking
a strike— with it, he could gauge what he was dealing with even
more accurately, so Caroline's hit struck true, sending Doubles
back a good few paces, but it didn't fully unbalance him and
only momentarily unnerved him, but he put on an act to seem as
though the impact was greater than it seemed.
       [shadow=white,left]"Hehh… On the contrary… You just don't know…
How I think..."[/shadow] Doubles spoke, giving the illusion he
had breath kicked out of him.
The reality of the situation was intriguing however. It was
likely that having in a sense 'absorbed' vast amounts of various
energies and abilities along with several concentrations of the
energy Caroline possessed. Doubles was tougher than he thought
he was, apparently. All of these factors played a part in
further active calculation. Keeping to his act, Doubles observed
further as the rogue Caroline made a 'demonstration' of
collected power. Sure, the runaway power given personality
thought this display was impressive, but Doubles couldn't even
get close to agreeing. Noting one of Caroline's bell being cast
off her tail, Doubles covertly called on the power he had
created along with many others, as unaware of it as they might
have been. In doing so he created a small portal behind his back
and under the sand where the bell landed in an attempt to
retrieve it and store it within the back of his utility belt.
[shadow=white, left]"Really now? You think that's what she can
achieve? Hm."[/shadow] Doubles idly mused to himself as he stood
up tall with a firm stance, hands behind his back, and tilted
his head. He felt… Nothing here. This use of power was…
[shadow=white,left]"Pathetic."[/shadow] That was it. Such a
soulless display was utterly pathetic to him. Caroline, the true
Caroline that he interacted with before, he felt something in
her power. Potential, spirit, truth. What he was seeing now was
stagnation, hollowness and lies. [shadow=white, left]"As if a
loathsome creature like you could even hope to understand the
idea of quality over quantity like she does."[/shadow] In fact,
such disrespect, not only for life itself, but for the suffering
and hurt girl that only wanted to save her sister was enough.
[center]Enough to make Doubles absolutely and undeniably livid.
  HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_1j_uM5rN4[/center]
       [shadow=white,left]"Caroline![/shadow] Doubles' voice rang out,
assisted by the power he had created, echoing over the hellish
torrent that swirled around the two of them.
[shadow=white, left]Listen up, because there is a decent enough
mathematical probability that you can hear me! This insipid,
detestable creature that mocks and ridicules your visage by
abusing your power stands in the way of you saving your sister.
It doesn't take a genius to realize you love her, so do yourself
a favor while I keep it busy out here…!"[/shadow] In an instant,
Doubles coated himself in the same aura from before and rapidly
relocated himself en route to Caroline while dodging debris.
[shadow=white, left]"AND FIGHT BACK IN THERE!"[/shadow] He
roared, a strange roar combining the yowl of a cat and the bark
of a dog as he aimed a swing for Caroline's face, intending to
get her right in the chin that was so graciously lifted for him.

At the mention of Twinkle 'Caroline' would give a sneer of
disgust, her tail flicking but now it wouldn't have the nice
little jingle it used to have from the bell as she'd removed it.
"[shadow=red, right]Pssh, please, that fool practically worships
this cat's every breath but she at least realizes my potential
in some way. She was pretty rude to you back there wasn't she~?
Caroline wasn't impressed with it, but I was, considering I
control the girl's only friend- at least within her mind, maybe
I could make some sort of use of her..[/shadow]" A sick sort of
smile twisted onto the cat's face while she said this, whatever
it was thinking of for Twinkle obviously wasn't something very
nice. The cat didn't seem to look all that impressed at how
Doubles seemed to be keeping a level head and calm posture
despite the situation he was in. Just who was it under that
armor? Whoever it was, this thing had decided it did not like
them, partly because it knew Caroline had decided she did like
       him.
Seeing it's kick land true it smiled again though, taking a bold
stance afterwards as it watched Doubles be sent backwards and
become winded- or at least it seemed. "[shadow=red, right]Nor do
I care how you think. Why should I? You're just a fool thinking
he did the right thing in teleporting me away from the
       city.[/shadow]" She'd hiss, "[shadow=red,right]You can't even
take a weak kick without being winded, you're hardly even worth
       my time.. I want a challenge![/shadow]" It'd flick Caroline's
hair back in an irritated sort of way, believing that this truly
was a waste of it's time. With it being so distracted with
itself, Doubles would have no problem retrieving the broken tail
       bell. "[shadow=red,right]I don't think, I know that's what she
can achieve, I'm stuck with her remember?[/shadow]"
When Doubles said the word 'Pathetic' aloud, 'Caroline's eyes
shot back to him even though there were no pupils to be seen, he
could probably still feel the burning hatred of the look it was
giving him for saying that. "[shadow=red,right]No...[/shadow]"
That word alone seemed to annoy it most, it wasn't.. Pathetic..
It was raw potential power! "[shadow=red, right]How DARE
you![/shadow]" Untapped potential by even Caroline herself, the
holder of the power, potential she couldn't even see let alone
dare to use! "[shadow=red, right]I am what she is meant to
become! If it weren't for her stupid teacher, I'd already be the
Caroline you'd of met![/shadow]" If Doubles didn't already piss
it off beforehand, he sure as hell did now.
When he called out to Caroline herself, 'Caroline' looked even
less impressed then earlier, shooting him a displeased glare.
"[shadow=red, right]She can't hear you idiot! Stop talking to
her![/shadow]" it'd hiss at him again, getting more and more
angry towards him which began to blind the being in a way. It
was at least enough to help Doubles' hit to land without it
being able to react and move away in time.
When Doubles' hit landed, for a split second he'd be able to
feel a wave of energy pulse through his body when he was in
contact with Caroline, having a similar sort of feeling to a
power up. It would only last for the brief moment that they were
both in contact though before disappearing as Caroline stumbled
backwards from the hit. The hit seemed to do more then just
knock them back as well, once it regained balance it seemed to
struggle with itself for a few seconds, and if Doubles looked
close enough he'd be able to notice that in those few seconds,
Caroline's original naturally blue eyes appeared back briefly
and the claws she had out started to retract. Once those few
seconds were up though they were clouded over again with the
menacing red glow and the claws came back out fully.
       She was still in there.
She was fighting back like he'd said to.
"[shadow=red, right]Don't listen to him! I'M the ONLY one that
can save your sister![/shadow]" It'd hiss at.. Itself? While
giving it's chin a feel over, it itself didn't seem too fazed by
the hit, as if it didn't effect it, but that hit did hit and
       left a mark on Caroline's chin. "[shadow=red,right]You can't
punch power you imbecile[/shadow]" It'd say in a snarky way,
while the punch did knock it back it did manage to keep the lava
       tornado going.
"[shadow=red, right]You dare to call me pathetic while you hide
like a coward behind some petty piece of armor? If I'm so
pathetic, how come you can't even show your stupid face to
me?[/shadow]" It'd calm down the tornado until it eventually
disappeared completely, leaving it able to use it's hands and
powers for other things. "[shadow=red, right]You don't even KNOW
her, really, now do you? Aside from a small handful of things,
why do you CARE for her?[/shadow]" For now it seemed to keep her
hands down, but at the ready just in case while also keeping a
steady distance from Doubles after the hit.
After asking it seemed to look aside briefly, curling it's hands
into fists while it's overall powerful aura seemed to die down
       just a little bit.. "[shadow=red,right]They got one..[/shadow]"
It looked aside briefly and again- Caroline's eyes returned for
a brief moment only to disappear again. This made it more angry
yet again. "[shadow=red, right]I could save her sister, not just
from being a robot, but from her sickness too, and she knows
this. She's had the ability to do so all along but cant do it on
her own. YOU are stalling ME from saving her.[/shadow]" It'd
place it's hands on it's hips, did it say that to win Caroline
over? Or was their truth behind it?
"[shadow=red, right]This girl's body is but a shell to me.. Your
punches are pain that she feels, not me[/shadow]" It'd bob it'd
head side to side before smiling, "[shadow=red, right]You care
for her, right?[/shadow]" It'd ask, as it held out one hand, and
then brought the other hand over top of it- but in a way that
suggested it was struggling with itself to do so.
"[shadow=red, right]Can you stop her from harming
herself?[/shadow]" It'd hiss slyly before again- struggling for
a brief moment with itself to click the fingers of the hand held
above the other one. Eventually though it would manage to do so
although the hand continued to violently shake and tremble. Once
it had, it activated a power on itself. A thick looking green
liquid sort of substance began to build up in the palm of the
top hand and eventually made it's way down onto the other arm
she had held under the other.
When the green liquid made contact with her arm, Caroline's
entire body began to shake, more and more violently. For a brief
moment it let Caroline come back through but only through the
face, her eyes came back and it took mere seconds for her to
start making a rather horrible sounding pained scream, she
looked to Doubles in the seconds she'd been given, looking
terrified and lost. She didn't need to call for help, her face
said it all before she was taken back over again. Once taken
back over, the screaming stopped and her expression returned to
the scornful look from before. "[shadow=red, right]She can't even
save herself from herself. How on Mobius are you supposed to
help? Going to punch her again for me?[/shadow]"

       ---------------------------------------------------------
       [shadow=white,left]”She realizes Caroline’s potential, not
yours. At current, yours is nothing yet hers is monumental,
simple as that.”[/shadow] Doubles stated in a curt ‘as a matter
of fact’ manner. [shadow=white, left]”Your arrogance is
astounding.”[/shadow] The armored man added bluntly. If this
personification of Caroline’s raw ability was as ‘in control’ as
it implied, then this scenario simply wouldn’t be happening all
together. Doubles kept his level head and calmness, it was
perhaps his greatest advantage right now.
Doubles also had the act he was putting up to assist in his
manipulation of the metaphorical chess pieces. The longer this
entity was kept talking long winded nonsense, the less likely he
was to get hurt and the more time his comrades in arms had to
deal with whatever it is the runaway orbs were doing.
       [shadow=white,left]”Sorry… Aheh.”[/shadow] Doubles feigned
weakness once more. It was almost sad how easy it was to be
underestimated in this moment, but it was an advantage he needed
to have. Little did his current foe know, he was more than a
       challenge… [shadow=white,left]”You don’t think? Oof.
Tragic.”[/shadow] He added a bit of lighthearted snark.
       [shadow=white,left]”Now I can see why you don’t
understand.”[/shadow] Doubles shook his head as ‘Caroline’ went
on a rage fueled verbal temper tantrum. His stance resolute, his
determination unflinching. [shadow=white, left]”I dare, and I
dare easily. Whether I met you then or now, the results would be
the same. I stand tall and oppose you.”[/shadow] He scoffed,
       progressively getting more unimpressed. [shadow=white,left]”Then
her teacher seems to have not realized that they might have not
one, but two students to teach."[/shadow] Existing here and now,
before they were even conceptualized had likely caused a new
chain of events to occur. If their teacher in the present time
ever found out about this, everything would be different for
       them...
Seeing the interruption of the entity as rather rude, Doubles
simply wiggled a finger as if to scold them.
[shadow=white, left]”How rude. You’re supposed to say excuse me
if you wish to enter a conversation.”[/shadow] When Doubles was
close enough; with his tactic successful, he saw exactly what he
needed to see. Caroline was certainly there.
[shadow=white, left]”Oh, Caroline can definitely hear me. Why
else would you be so defensive? Honestly, child's
       play.”[/shadow]
Doubles chuckled. [shadow=white, left]”Pfft, really? Even your
verbal tactics are abysmally weak.”[/shadow] He punctuated his
opinion on the matter by confidently pointing towards ‘Caroline’
[shadow=white, left]”Who said that was aimed at you to begin
with?”[/shadow] This implied that Doubles’ goal wasn’t to cause
damage, simply a different kind of impact— one that he had
concrete visual evidence of working. The manifestation’s
definition of cowardice was quite bland and narrow.
[shadow=white, left]”Grasping at straws now? This was almost too
easy.”[/shadow] Doubles shrugged, keeping himself at a similar
distance as well, all the while analyzing the environment and
his foe mathematically all at the same time.
       [shadow=white,left]”Perhaps it is because I’m a genuinely
thoughtful and considerate person. The better question is, why
       do you not care?”[/shadow]
Noting the odd reaction, and of course hearing ‘they got one’
put Doubles’ mind at ease somewhat. He knew well enough what
that meant, but he wasn’t going to play all of his cards just
yet. [shadow=white, left]”Hmm? Is that all? You could save her
sister? Really if you could, you would have already.”[/shadow]
Doubles casually waved a hand dismissively.
[shadow=white, left]”Caroline will be the one to save her sister.
I will help her. Notice the difference? No, you likely
       don’t.”[/shadow]
Now, Doubles decided to become silent. He quickly analyzed the
odd movements and change in tone of voice. Doubles would have to
devote his focus to countering whatever occured at a mere
moment’s notice. The entity conjured a seething green fluid, and
it didn’t necessarily take a genius to realize that it was a
caustic acid of some form. Double’s began concocting a plan
immediately, in the same manner that he swiftly and secretly
created a little rift to get the red tail ring, he began
creating a silent rift up in the air behind Caroline. However,
because it was a bigger rift than before, it wasn’t complete. He
needed to get closer to use it. Fortunately, he could make
smaller portal-armor jumps forward to do it, he just needed the
right moment. On the exact nanosecond that Caroline’s eyes even
began turning back to blue, Doubles was on the move through a
few projected portals. He didn’t need to hear any screams, he
just needed to see blue eyes. That meant Caroline would be in
control, and she wouldn’t be one to resist his incoming help. It
was true, she didn’t need to call for help.
       [center]

       Help was already here.[/center]
After the few quick bursts forward, for the fraction of a second
he was right in front of Caroline. The sun shined off of his
helmet with a mild rainbow sheen coming off of it. Looking as
though he was ready to jump forward and knee her, but he then
disappeared, the more important portal he had set up was now
useable by him, and he made the jump through it to appear behind
Caroline. From there, he would make an attempt to put her in a
full nelson hold while also trying to grab her tail. Whether or
not that in particular worked, he was still pretty close; and he
could still easily make a further attempt to suck up only the
acid with his super selective selective collected portal power,
and deposit it elsewhere. Either way, he put himself at risk,
while the portal armor was indeed armor that he could call upon,
he couldn’t exactly keep it up indefinitely.
[shadow=white, left]”We already have saved her, haven't you been
       paying attention? Hah!”[/shadow]

By: Caroline Bishop Date: November 8, 2018, 6:22 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
'Caroline' didn't seem at all impressed with Doubles' continued
talk, no matter what it seemed to say, even in regards to
Twinkle, he denied it and turned it's words on their heads. This
pissed it off more. "[shadow=red, right]Your stubbornness to
'help' a girl you hardly know anything about is astounding. And
annoying[/shadow]" It would grumble. Doubles would be right in
thinking his calmness and ability to keep a level head was part
       of his advantage.
Doubles' act lowered the power's expectations of his abilities
while he faked being hurt by its first attack. 'Caroline' seemed
to take joy in seeing him in 'pain' but when he made a
lighthearted snark it simply snarled back at him lightly,
       clearly not amused and unimpressed.
       "[shadow=red,right]Hah![/shadow]" 'Caroline' would scoff,
"[shadow=red, right]You think you actually oppose me!? Don't make
me laugh, you double over at the first kick and you have the
audacity to say you actually stand tall against me? You don't
stand tall, you hardly stand at all, you're a coward, who hides
behind a mask and armour. Cowards like you COWER before me!
You're just too stubborn to admit it in your petty attempts to
save a girl who's already long gone[/shadow]" She would hiss,
her eyes narrowing as she stared Doubles down.
"[shadow=red, right]As if her teacher could teach someone like
me. No. The only thing her teacher hasn't realised is that he'll
never be able to truly help her in full, not so long as I'm
around, help her as he might, not even he can compare to
me[/shadow]" What Doubles said though... It made her pause, as
though they felt a change happen around them. A light breeze
would pick up around Caroline for a brief moment before dropping
again, her eyes flashing. She then tilted her head at him for a
moment as a somewhat crooked smile crept upon the cat's face.
       "[shadow=red,right]Ohohoho~[/shadow]" She'd chuckle feeling a
new burst of motivation to take this individual out. If he was
who she truly thought he could be given what just happened, then
this was a fight the power had been waiting for, for a rather
       long time.
Caroline would stick her tongue out at Doubles for further
rudeness after being told to say 'excuse me' to enter a
       conversation, "[shadow=red,right]You're not my mother[/shadow]"
He saw through and saw that Caroline was responsive though..
Causing a disapproving hiss to escape her lips.
"[shadow=red, right]Has anyone ever told you how annoying you
       are[/shadow]"
When he pointed at her she would snarl,
"[shadow=red, right]Because I'm the only one here with you,
idiot![/shadow]" She spat. "[shadow=red, right]Am I? Is that your
way of dodging the accusations is it? You truly are a
coward[/shadow]" She'd bob her head side to side, looking as
though she'd just won an argument. "[shadow=red, right]Not care
about what? Caroline? I do, stupid, I'm TRYING to save her
sister because she believes she can't, her sister means the
world to her, if I didn't care, why would I be putting that
       first?[/shadow]"
"[shadow=red, right]And I would have already had you not of
interfered, so really, you're the one keeping her sister in a
state of suffering, she's only going to get worse and worse you
know, and who knows what that rag-tag group you call a team is
up to by now, probably working to de-robotosize her, right? It's
the wrong move you know. I think we both know that. You also
know it'll be the first thing they try to do. They're going to
kill her, and you'll make us far too late.[/shadow]" For a
moment, genuine sadness spread across Caroline's face, but was
it from Caroline's doing, or the power? She would shake her head
afterwards, "[shadow=red, right]You will both be too
late[/shadow]" Sure enough, it didn't get the difference Doubles
was trying to put forward, but not that it was going to admit to
       that.
As Doubles moved in to help her as the power took control to
inflict pain upon herself, Caroline looked up to see him in
front of her, somehow deep down she knew he hadn't moved in to
knee her and so she wouldn't flinch when he made the move.
Doubles was clever, she trusted he had something else up his
sleeves. That he did too. The power was too busy getting
Caroline to harm herself to retaliate in time to Doubles, on top
of that, his friends in the other team had taken down yet
another orb, weakening it, byt the time it snapped back, Doubles
was behind Caroline and had her in a full hold. Snapping back,
it began to make Caroline jerk and jolt violently against
Doubles' grip, nothing really worked and eventually, it would
stop to let out a cackle, it didn't need to be able to look at
Doubles for its piercing glare to be felt,
"[shadow=red, right]Believing that to be right will be your
biggest downfall, coward[/shadow]" She'd hiss. Strangely enough
however, shortly after this and some disgruntled huffs and puffs
from Caroline, the cat seemed to then slump against Doubles, not
aggressively or in a violent manner like before, but rather in
       an exhausted, gentle way.
       It was Caroline.
After a moment, she would take in a big breath of air, opening
her eyes which would burn a brilliant blue. Caroline's blue.
When some moments had passed, she realised just what sort of
hold and position she was in and where Doubles had gone to, "Ah"
She'd exclaim, sounding rather exhausted. For now, she seemed to
be doing okay, no sign of any changes, for now, he was face to
       face with the real Caroline.
Although exhausted, she'd activate some of her power again to
phase through and out of Double's grip, or at least most of it,
he'd still have a hold of her tail. The cat crumbled to the
ground, hugging her arms and she shook and shuddered but not in
the same manner as before. If Doubles took the time to try and
look, he'd be able to notice that the feline had started to cry
while a trickle of blood dribbled down from one side of her
mouth. If he looked though, he'd be met with her pulling her
face away, recoiling up on the spot even more so as she
continued to shake, her injured arm especially which she didn't
seem to be trying to heal at all.
"All this... Pain and fear, from me and my sister, began because
of me." She was rather muffled, but still clear enough to hear.
"I'm a monster, they were right" She'd raise her not acid
effected arm to wipe across her face, smudging tears and blood
as she did. "There's no one worth helping here but yourself, go
back, go help the others" She'd hang her head down as more tears
came to her eyes. Whenever she thought she had control of it, it
       always proved her wrong.
"I'm a monster, I was one from the start. Go home Sir, there's
       nothing more here to save."

[shadow=white, left]”Your blatantly contradictory behavior can be
seen in a similar light. The way you act causes its own logic to
crumble. You see shame in admitting to weakness of any kind. I
do not. That, is what puts you behind.”[/shadow] Doubles
shrugged, he was no stranger to being inwardly critical of his
actions. [shadow=white, left]”At the very least, I aim to use use
my stubbornness for truly positive means, not for myself, but
for others— without question. Can you say the same of yourself,
that you can act without an ulterior motive?”[/shadow] He shook
his head in disappointment. [shadow=white, left]”You can’t. Not
when you put others beneath you, belittle them and crave power
regardless of if you understand what ‘power’ really is or
       not.”[/shadow]
Doubles sighed, his tone sombre and somewhat malencholic.
[shadow=white, left]”I feel sorry for beings like you. Negligence
has not treated you well, you desperately wish to be understood,
but make no effort to understand others in return.”[/shadow]
Soon after, his tone became incredibly stern and confident
despite the act he was still putting on.
[shadow=white, left]”Really now, it was a figure of
speech.”[/shadow] He scoffed in return, after processing the
entity’s counter first argument. [shadow=white, left]”Deny it all
you want, but I’m still not defeated yet. I do not bow, I do not
submit, and I certainly do not cower before you. I’m not the one
concocting delusions here; I know Caroline hasn’t given up, not
truly.”[/shadow] Doubles tilted his head slightly in amusement.
Evidently the theory of time travel and the butterfly effect was
absolutely lost on his current foe. Now Doubles was convinced
that he needed to find out who their teacher was in order to
change their lives for the better.
For both sides of Caroline. The lost young woman afraid of her
power, and the power that only wanted to be recognized, accepted
       and loved.
That being said, the entity talked a big game, merely spoke that
they had immense potential and strength. They ‘showed’ some of
it off, indeed, but it made little impact, it had no direction.
No real purpose beyond a prideful display.
[shadow=white, left]”Yes, yes, being self taught has done you
       wonders.”[/shadow] Doubles chirped sarcastically.
Doubles put his hands on his hips and spoke somewhat
condescendingly to the entity, faking a but of pain once again.
[shadow=white, left]”I doubt you would listen to her either,
what’s your point? Are you going to list off all the people you
won’t listen to? That’s rich.”[/shadow] He then scoffed, ready
to make another quip. [shadow=white, left]”Since you’re so
curious; yes. People have called me annoying about as many times
as they have called me a genius— so, a lot. I personally don’t
know what stating either trait achieves, I simply am who I am, I
don’t aim to be liked by everybody.”[/shadow]
Mildly amused that ‘Caroline’ kept using the word coward over
and over, more quick wits came into play.
       [shadow=white,left]”You keep using that word… Perhaps you’re
projecting? Just a thought.”[/shadow] Doubles also found it
amusing that ‘Caroline’ implied that he was alone with her
there. [shadow=white, left]”You’re free to assume that we are
alone.”[/shadow] If it wasn’t readily obvious that he was here
and spiritually acting with the strengths of his teammates
backing him up, then that was the entity’s loss. Doubles was
intensely grateful for his allies, it was their communication
and teamwork that got him this far. He knew in his heart that it
       would not stop here either.
[shadow=white, left]”Oh, no I meant literally anyone inclusive of
Caroline, but go ahead, spout more lies if you want to. You’re
not putting the safety of Caroline’s sister first. You’re
putting your pride first, I can see it in your eyes. What you
care about now, is doing anything within your ability to prove
me wrong and keep a restrictive hold on Caroline, so that she
depends on you and only you. So you can use her.”[/shadow] The
sand around Doubles became agitated, each individual grain
warping around him in small wisps. [shadow=white, left]”So I’ll
reiterate; If you wanted to save her sister, you already would
have. But no, instead, you decided to cause carnage and claw for
sole control of your shared body. Take some responsibility for
your actions sometime, it's good for you.”[/shadow] He snarked.
Doubles shook his head once again. [shadow=white, left]”Bold of
you to assume their course of action ends at de-roboticization.
For a being from the future you really know surprisingly little
of what is no longer the past. It stopped being the past you
know the moment any of you came back here. The future is not set
in stone.”[/shadow] The mysterious genius wiggled his finger in
       a disapproving manner.
Soon enough, events played right into Doubles’ hands, relieved
that his plan worked and that Caroline wouldn’t come to further
harm. [shadow=white, left]”Caroline will save her sister. Just
you watch,. You might be surprised.”[/shadow] Doubles responded
confidently to the entity’s final warning.
Doubles waited for Caroline to reassert herself, allowing her to
do as she needed to do. He would let go of Caroline’s tail only
       after he made absolutely certain that it was completely her;
using his continued analysis of the situation as it went on to
       differentiate body language and behavior.
Beyond that, he allowed Caroline to vent and speak her mind,
seeing it as a matter of respect. However, after this, Doubles
was rather blunt and straightforward; also as a manner of
respect. He wasn’t one to sugarcoat things, after all.
[shadow=white, left]”You? A monster? Tch. Please. I’m sure you
are well aware of what makes a monster a monster, correct? Now,
tell me; does a ‘monster’ innately treat people with respect?
Does a ‘monster’ behave politely and ask for help when they are
in out of their head? Does a ‘monster’ literally deny the laws
of time and space, to make sure her friends and sister are
safe?”[/shadow] Doubles knelt down to be at Caroline’s level,
again in a show of respect. [shadow=white, left]”No. A monster
would not do any of those things. I will be honest, I find this
claim that you are a monster to be utterly preposterous. I do
not see any monsters here in front of me.”[/shadow] Doubles gave
a pause for that to sink in. [shadow=white, left]”I see a young
woman in need of help. One aspect of her racked with guilt and
uncertain of herself. The other writhes in anguish because it is
cast aside, unloved, feared and misunderstood.”[/shadow] He gave
another pause, hoping that more than just Caroline was
       listening. [shadow=white,left]”Both are worth helping.”[/shadow]
       [center]
  HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFtXzHLB_tE&[/center]
Doubles stood up slowly as he spoke. [shadow=white, left]”People
like us, we are like a prism. Through us light refracts, and
becomes a beautiful rainbow. Perhaps some prisms are rough cuts,
yet to be refined, but they are prisms nonetheless. So what if
the rainbow that they produce is a bit wonky? It's still a
rainbow. It is still something beautiful.”[/shadow] He put out a
closed hand towards Caroline. [shadow=white, left]”We still have
work to do, we have people to save, but first…”[/shadow]
Opening his hand, he revealed that he was still holding onto the
red tail ring. [shadow=white, left]”I believe this is
       yours?”[/shadow]

Maybe at a later time Doubles would get to hear more of a
response from Caroline's power again, but for now it would
remain silent, its responses to him in what he said next for
now, would remain unknown. They probably would've been something
snarky and would've misunderstood Doubles' words again though.
When Doubles let go of Caroline's tail, it would curl around her
waist, adding to how insecure she seemed to feel about herself
and her abilities, or at least adding to the look. If only her
tail was thicker, fluffier, maybe then she could hide behind it
better? Supposedly, she could actually do that to her tail too,
but that would require using the powers she resented so much in
this moment, so the idea was cast away. She'd just have to deal
with being seen like she had to deal with having her powers.
While she was very fixed in her mind on that she was in fact a
monster, like she had been told she was for most of her life by
other people who didn't try to understand her, she did still
listen to Doubles. Flinching lightly as he knelt down to be at
her height level and pulling her face away again so he couldn't
see that she was crying, or at least, she hoped he couldn't see.
What he said was... A rather warm and welcoming understanding
and true. She did do those things, she just couldn't see them
like that until he pointed them out to her that way. As Doubles
had let her speak, she would have the same respect and let him
do so too, only allowing the tears to keep going, silently, down
her face as he continued. Only when he finished saying what he
did while still knelt down, would she finally speak up again, "A
monster is a large, ugly and frightening creature" She began,
wiping her eyes as she did so, "That pretty much sums up what I
was just now." She would swallow, while that side was the
monster itself, she was the monster letting it loose. Right? "I
started to break the entire city, I scared people and now our
friends are having to deal with the orbs from my outburst.
Probably endangering themselves in the process. All because I am
too weak to help myself and stop the monster from coming out."
Caroline added. "None of this would've even happened if.." She'd
cover her face with her hands, letting out a distressed cry. The
emerald box, her loosing control. It hitting her sister. Causing
the sickness they were now struggling to fix. "It's all my
fault! Why couldn't it of hit me instead!?"
It was unclear if Caroline herself was intentionally doing what
came next, or if it happened on accident... Or maybe because a
certain team destroyed a certain orb.. But the surroundings
around the two began to change. They would still be exactly
where they were should Doubles chose to check, but Caroline was
creating some sort of vision around them in a bubble. Rather
then mostly empty, they were now surrounded by trees and
shrubbery. A similar scene to what Robin just earlier had
       described to his own team...
Speaking of Robin, he was there, so was Caroline and a third,
short and blue figure, which easily could be made out to be an
organic version of the robot from earlier. Any attempt to
interact with these three would be met with them simply phasing
through however should Doubles attempt to. The real Caroline was
still in the same spot and position as before, still thinking
over what Doubles had just said. The scene was actually pretty
warm and cheerful for a long time, it was just three friends,
two sisters, camping out under the stars. Everything was fine
until they found an odd glowing box nearby however. Seeing it,
even in just this scene made the real Caroline squeeze her eyes
shut and cover her ears. While the memory Caroline froze. The
other two tried to do what they could to help her, but it was
just simply too late and Sapphire seemed to realise it first.
Being the quickest. She dropped the box of gems and sped over to
push Robin out of the way as he'd been trying to help Caroline.
It all happened so quickly-- But seemed to also slow down at
that exact moment. It slowed, and slowed, and slowed until
       finally. It paused.
By now Caroline was up, she had taken back the tail ring Doubles
had returned to her and pondered over his beautiful, encouraging
words long enough. For now, she didn't return the ring to her
       tail.
Caroline, now stood to one side of the scene while Doubles would
be on the other, the three memory versions of Robin, Caroline
and Sapphire in-between the two, paused exactly at the point
were Caroline seemed to have had a similar outburst to before,
but in several different colours, all of which were paused at
the moment of hitting Sapphire fair in the chest while Robin was
on the ground looking back up, horrified as he could do nothing
but watch after having been just pushed out of the way of what
Sapphire was being hit with. The light from the power bursting
out from Caroline's memory version of herself and into her
sister's heart reflected in the real Caroline's eyes as she
stared at Doubles from the other side. "Do you still not see any
       monsters?"
Eventually, she let it go, letting the memory resume in front of
them. The memory versions did the predictable panicked reaction
and eventually, everything faded to black before then the scene
around them was fully gone and the bubble popped. Leaving the
two alone once more. "I'm not uncertain of myself, I'm just
certain that I am something awful and dangerous. To myself and
to others." She seemed to take a moment after it though. Doubles
referred to her as though the second part of her that she
suppressed was also a person. The only other person that did
that was... "Worth helping? How can you say that after what I
just did? I could've hurt you or worse.. I.." She let out a
breath. "You don't even know who I truly am, nor I to you. I
must admit that I.. Don't understand where your kindness is
coming from. It's certainly not deserved." People like us? What
did he mean? Is he who she thought he might be? Caroline fiddled
with the red ring still in her hands which made it pulse and
spark on the inside. "What you did, while incredibly dangerous
and risky. Was very brave and selfless of you. Your words are..
Very appreciated. Though you are one of very few to think such
things in regards to me and.. My powers." She still looked
unsure though. Probably why he was the teacher and she was the
student. Or at least, they would be.
"I am uncertain of one thing though" While yes, she still wasn't
quite there yet with healing herself, she pushed through, it
could be discussed later perhaps. Right now, her sister's time
was running short, and that mattered more to her then anything
else in the world right now. Taking in a deep breath and letting
it out she would then continue. "I'm uncertain of how to save my
sister. When all 5 orbs are destroyed I'll have full and better
control of my powers so we should do that first, but I.." Her
ears flattened back "Well you saw. I'm not good at controlling
my powers.." She glanced aside, "[sub]Mr Doppel is going to be
disappointed[/sub]" She'd rub behind her head lightly, despite
her just saying such, her gut feeling said otherwise. "I have...
One idea, that might work, but I don't think many are going to
like it if I say it. But I can't do it, or any other ideas until
those orbs are destroyed for good. Her illness is tied to the
chaos emeralds afterall. It's going to be stubborn and tough."
She cast another look that seemed to suggest the idea she had
wasn't without its own pain, but what it was she didn't say yet.
"I'm sorry for dragging you and all your friends into this mess,
once all is said and done I will take myself, my sister and my
friends uh-- Back to where we came from swiftly. But for now. If
we could rejoin Robin and the others to destroy those orbs and
then find my sister before it's too late, if we're all done
here, and if you could help me do that, I would be forever
grateful" For what seemed like probably the first time in a
while, she managed a small smile, holding out a hand to the
armoured mobian. "I'm uh, also sorry for anything that other
side of me might've said, I honestly can't recall a whole lot of
       what happens during those outbursts."

Doubles gave Caroline proper space for her to vent her
frustrations out of respect, while also making himself readily
available should she need support of any kind. He listened to
what she had to say; though her definition of what a ‘monster’
was, had merit and was technically correct; Doubles would have
gone into more detail personally, but now was not the time for
lectures like that and he decided to not bring that up.
He saw a moment to speak, but it was quickly overtaken by
another (thankfully smaller by comparison) emotional outburst
from Caroline. Doubles did not twitch or reel back, he kept his
cool and instead examined what exactly Caroline had shown him
just now, albeit accidentally. As he normally would; Doubles
analyzed the situation that was put on display; he recognized
the individuals within, the scenery and general location and
time given the positioning of the stars and constellations. The
abandoned and neglected case, it didn’t take a genius to figure
out what the glowing colours were coming from; those exact
colours pointed only to one set of artifacts; the Chaos
Emeralds. When the case was dropped and one or two rolled out,
that sealed the deal on the conclusion Doubles had come to.
Looking to Caroline, Doubles answered her question without
hesitation. [shadow=white, left]”I do not like repeating myself.
I do not see any monsters here. I see an adverse reaction to the
presence of Chaos imbued artifacts that resulted in a tragic
scenario. One that nobody present in what you are showing me can
possibly be at fault for.”[/shadow] He asserted confidently, and
       without doubt.
[shadow=white, left]”In my opinion, solely being certain of your
faults is the same if not similar to being uncertain of your
strengths. You are not awful and dangerous, far from
it.”[/shadow] Evidently, Caroline was quite surprised that
Doubles would say that she was worth helping. He could however
understand the confusion, not many that had not appropriately
been shown kindness really understood it.
[shadow=white, left]”Worth helping, indeed, that is what I
said.”[/shadow] Doubles nodded, to make sure his statement was
clear. [shadow=white, left]”I need no reason to help someone that
needs help if I can be the one to give it. I am no stranger to
risks. For instance, science alone is all about taking leaps of
faith.”[/shadow] Spoken like a true scientist, to boot.
[shadow=white, left]”Make no mistake, I knew the risks that came
with my plan, I accepted them, that is why I even got this
far.”[/shadow] Only a few people would even consider going above
and beyond for others, luckily Doubles was among them.
Allowing Caroline to assess the situation was important, she had
a point of view Doubles did not, their information collected
together would prove immensely useful for their mission. Doubles
nodded in understanding, gesturing for Caroline to continue
until she finished explaining that she needed to get rid of the
orbs first to regain better control. One thing that piqued his
interest was a name, and he decided to interject.
       [shadow=white,left]”Oh? I wouldn’t say that I am
disappointed.”[/shadow] He chuckled, a lot of things began to
make sense now. [shadow=white, left]”Well, what is your idea,
first of all? Now, I’ll let you explain, but if it has anything
to do with self sacrifice... I can guarantee that everyone else
would want you to bin it, myself included.”[/shadow]
       [center]

As for forgiveness on behalf of Caroline’s other self? Easy.
[shadow=white, left]”Pay it no mind, I forgive you as a whole.
What I would like to do; is give you— all parts of you— a chance
to prove what was claimed possible. Saving lives in any way
should not be a task taken lightly nor be one singular person’s
duty to carry on their shoulders.”[/shadow] When all was said
and done, the two of them had a job to do.
[shadow=white, left]”That being said, messes can be cleaned up.
Let’s get to doing that, shall we? I believe I can get us close
to where we came from; perhaps even right where we need to
be—”[/shadow] Doubles offered a hand to Caroline.
[shadow=white, left]”If we both do our part, as a team.”[/shadow]

Caroline's stare seemed to harden when Doubles spoke again,
insisting that he still did not see any monsters despite what
she showed. Nobody present was at fault huh? Or at least Doubles
seemed to think so. Caroline wasn't so sure, she could've done
more. She should've done more to control herself and save her
sister and Robin from being caught in the crossfire. But Doubles
       seemed pretty sure of himself...
He also insisted she wasn't awful and dangerous, she silently
disagreed. She was dangerous. Even to herself, she cast an eye
down to her still injured acid burnt arm to further believe that
point too and after doing so, raised an eyebrow at Doubles. She
wasn't convinced, but maybe he had some sort of solid reasoning
behind why he believed why on such things. "Some might argue the
risk you took would make you stupid and foolish" She'd pause,
"I'd argue it was incredibly selfless of you to risk yourself
for someone you hardly know" As for the worth helping part? "I'm
not sure I quite agree with you there." Her ears would flatten
back against her head as she looked unsure of herself. Maybe one
       day she would agree.
When Doubles spoke up and said that he wouldn't be disappointed
after what she'd muttered, she seemed to start going bright pink
in the face. "[sub]Oh[/sub]" Her tail would twitch before she
gave her head a shake to come back to her senses. She was
talking to him!? Out of all the people to run into early on...
"Well this is a bit-- Uh... It's quite the coincidence.. Aheh"
She'd rub a hand behind her head and laugh a little shyly. As
strong and as smart as he was in the future it seemed! When he
asked about the idea, she would glance aside. "Well... I'm
afraid it does, it'd be incredibly risky in the first place, but
I could potentially draw out the illness as a whole from her,
but I'd have to put it into someone else, and I'm only willing
to sacrifice myself." While maybe he and others would want her
to bin the idea, that didn't mean it was fully off the table for
her... "But I.. Don't really trust in my own abilities either,
it could simply make her worse."
While Doubles forgave her 'other side', Caroline did not,
although she did so silently. "She is my little sister, it is my
duty to carry to keep her safe, especially when our parents are
not here" Truthfully, she felt downright guilty all of this
responsibility and all of these problems and tasks were being
put onto the people of this time, which only added to her
feeling of that it was her duty to clean up the mess alone.
"Chance to prove what was claimed possible? What did it claim
was possible?" Probably something ridiculous no doubt.. Just
what more mess had it gotten her in.
When he offered her a hand, Caroline looked down at the red ring
in her hands still and then closed her eyes for a moment. Her
arm still stung from earlier but nothing stung more then how her
heart ached to see her sister well again. Opening her eyes,
she'd click the ring back around her tail and would take hold of
Doubles' hand, closing her eyes for a moment again while
frizzling up her fur as she did. Shortly after she did, Doubles
probably felt a tingling feeling run through his hand and then
through the rest of his body as Caroline experienced the same.
Any wounds that the two had would've promptly healed over a bit,
she would've done more but she still felt self conscious about
her abilities and her control of them. "I hope the orbs haven't
hurt anyone.." She still wasn't confident, but she'd do her best
to help with the warping too should Doubles need it.

       Doubles noted Caroline’s expression harden.
[shadow=white, left]”Make no mistake; I know what guilt is, how
it chews away at one’s very soul. I did not live a life without
accident, without fault, without a mishap...”[/shadow] He
trailed off, it didn’t take a genius to theorize or downright
realize that he too once was in a situation of a similar
magnitude. [shadow=white, left]”Trust me, I know what it is like
to wish you did better for someone else that you care about. You
are not alone.”[/shadow] He gave a nod, it was not the time for
a pity party when multiple lives were in danger. It didn’t need
to be said really, the two of them were clever enough to conduct
       themselves accordingly.
As for risk taking? Well… [shadow=white, left]”Oh, yes, of
course. It was unbelievably foolish and ridiculously dangerous,
idiotic, stupid, moronic, cataclysmically boneheaded, et cetera
ad infinitum, ”[/shadow] Doubles didn’t sound proud of it, but
he sounded surprised— as though he didn’t know people would not
think he knew exactly what he was doing.
[shadow=white, left]”Trust me, I know… However, The more you
know, the less you understand. Now, I know quite a lot, but I
much prefer understanding.”[/shadow] This, this was something he
       said with the most confidence he had ever said anything so far;
it wasn’t something so simple, it was easily something that he
grew up with. [shadow=white, left]”That is why I do what I do. It
is why I did what I did. I want to understand what I see, the
people that I meet. Knowing is one thing, but understanding is a
level far beyond knowing.”[/shadow] In fact, it sounded much
like a foundation for teaching too…
       Doubles chuckled slightly. [shadow=white,left]”Coincidence?
Maybe, but a fortunate one? I’d say so.”[/shadow] Oof, he read
the situation like a book. This sort of thing happened when one
spoke from experience. [shadow=white, left]”We’re more alike
than most might think, aheh~.”[/shadow] As for putting it into
someone, Doubles did have an idea brewing.
[shadow=white, left]”Does it have to be someone? Can it not be
something?”[/shadow] He tapped the side of his helmet.
[shadow=white, left]”You should know at least something about
anything of my creation, correct?”[/shadow] As an example,
Doubles retrieved something from his utility belt. It was one of
the Go-On Batteries; the one that housed Cube energy; a dark
       blue tube-like bottle-ish trinket. [shadow=white,left]”I have
blanks of these on hand, ones that have not been used. I can
always make more.”[/shadow] Caroline would know that these were
hard to make, difficult to find materials for; and took time to
make. [shadow=white, left]”I am willing to deal with the setback
of losing one if it means we can avoid a living
       sacrifice.”[/shadow]
Putting trinket away, and put a reassuring hand on Caroline’s
shoulder. [shadow=white, left]”Perhaps the issue here is that you
and your abilities lack some trust in each other?”[/shadow] He
mused, first allowing Caroline to reinforce her responsibilities
as a sister to herself. [shadow=white, left]”See, you both
already agree on something. Sure, it spoke in harsh tones and
implied some less than stellar things. However, the most
prevalent thing I heard your other side wanted to prove; was
that it could save your sister. I want to give you both that
chance to do so together, to try and trust each other as you
seemingly want the same thing, that is all. It’s all about
       teamwork, remember?”[/shadow]
Of course, Doubles allowed Caroline to heal the both of them; he
knew what to expect from a healing ability nigh immediately.
[shadow=white, left]”See? You’re working together already. Though
a small and simple task, you have still managed healing quite
easily.”[/shadow] He said proudly. [shadow=white, left]”Let’s be
off.”[/shadow] Thanks to Caroline’s healing as well as any
boosted support she saw fit to give; the two once more were
enveloped in a strange haze that relocated them elsewhere and
       they were gone…!
The strange island was left alone again, at least for now.
