       Cracking the Egg

A good writer does their research... and while I certainly have
done a lot of that I also value the opinions of everyone here
       too!
So! I want you to tell me what are the most important elements
to you that make Eggman/Robotnik as a character?
Which incarnation do you like or dislike the most? Why?

Honestly my favourite versions of Eggman would be Robotnik from
SATAM, Boom Eggman and Eggman from Sonic Colours, SATAM Robotnik
for one was actually threatening and pretty scary, while Boom
Eggman almost felt like an Uncle to the cast who was always
trying to trick them and Colours Eggman felt like a bit of a bit
o: (Using living things like the wisps as a power source to me
was pretty scary and cruel but the guy also still acted rather
       goofy and funny)
I think some important elements of him would be kind of his
humour? and Ego? He tends to boast a lot about what he can do
and what he's capable of but also he is kind of the biggest
threat to them throughout most of the series so while he jokes
sometimes, he's also someone I think that should always be kind
of taken seriously too? (Even in boom which was an obvious
comedy show for instance, he still was dealing with stuff like
       doomsday devices)

Honestly while I've come to appreciate various versions of
Eggman I'd steer clear of using that name, it dosen't exactly
command respect. Dr. Robotnik however is a name that carries
some weight both physically and via reputation. I don't think
Robotnik's character is demonstrated any better than inside the
SATAM TV series and it's continuation in the Archie comics.
These versions are cunning ruthless and will not hesitate to
crush their enemies with an iron fist. While they are indeed
geniuses their engineering skills come in second to their drive
for evil. SATAM Robotnik is so full of hatred he was willing to
crash his ship with him inside it, if it meant he could take
Sonic down with him. My personal favorite part of the character
is his rage and hatred these corrosive emotions add flare to
everything he dose. They instill fear in his underlings and
ensure his enemies do not take him lightly.
I like to think the major difference between Robotnik and Eggman
is Dr. Robotnik is technical and tyrannical warlord as where
Eggman is a mad and whimsical genius. You've got to ask yourself
what type of Robotnik do you want to play? What kind of end
       goals dose he have?
Dr. Robotnik wants to wipe all organic life off Mobius, enslave
the population and kill anybody who wouldn't make a useful
       robotic slave.
Dr. Eggman wants to conquer the world, build a theme park and
       humiliate Sonic.
(Eggman's pension to not finish off his foes always annoyed me.
I'd suggest you do not inherit that trait. In Forces he had
Sonic locked up for weeks but he didn't kill or robotcize him.)
Like a machine he should be cold, calculating but most of all
       authoritarian and ruthless.
If Sonic symbolizes freedom wouldn't it be fitting if his
       counterpart stood for oppression?
