Cat Burglar
By: Sonic Date: June 29, 2018, 11:02 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
While breaking the sound barrier Sonic smirked as he bolted
throughout the city scanning the streets for trouble. He skidded
to a stop after doing several laps in under a second; he had
stopped because he spied broken glass alongside a brick and went
to investigate. He looked through the shattered window to see
some type of spotted feline rifling through the drawers and
personal belongings of of the homes occupant. Leaning in the
window Sonic placed his fingers in his mouth and gave a high
pitched whistle to catch the round eared brunette's attention.
Giving a smile smile he brushed the broken glass away and raised
an eyebrow asking. "Forget your keys kitten? Now there's a few
ways we can go about this, there's the boring way where you come
quietly and then there's the fun way where I put you
down.....hard. The choice is yours....You've got about three
seconds to choose." The blue hero told her while pulling back
the cuff of glove to check the time on his wrist mounted
communicator. "Tik tok!" He said tapping the face of his watch
as if to say time was up.

---------------------------------------------------------
From the moment Kaibette busted through the window, she had a
feeling something would go wrong. Hell, before that she even had
the gut feeling. But, hunger was a cruel mistress and the only
ways she could free herself from it were death and eating.
Unfortunately for her, death was not an option--at least, not
today. If it weren't for the tightness of her bodysuit, her fur
would've been standing on end. She had to make this quick while
she knew that the owner of this residence was gone.
Honey-colored arms slipped through the straps of a black
backpack so it would rest on her chest. A quick survey of the
room revealed some basics. She landed in the bedroom, so the
first thing she went for was the dresser set. Nimble hands
sifted through clothing and belongings, searching for
something--anything--valuable. Tense minutes passed as she moved
from drawer to drawer, carefully avoiding the bits of glass
scattered around the floor. Finally, the genet reached a drawer
that had something useful. Having just laid eyes upon an
impressive roll of bills stashed in the back of a sock drawer,
she had it in hand when a shrill whistle cut through the air.
Her ears were instantly pinned back and her tail puffed to twice
its size in a moment of panic.
Whipping her head around, she found herself eye to eye with the
blue bane of her existence. 'Great...' She hoped her eye bags
would be exaggerated in the dim lighting so that he could see
how tired she was of his bullsh*t.
Her heart was beating so hard she could feel it in her throat,
but thankfully she had the presence of mind to slip the cash in
her bag and zip it up. Ignoring his proposition, her response
was short, and rough, much like her appearance, "I'm not a cat,
dumb*ss."
With that and a wave of her hand, she disappeared. Focusing her
energy on deflecting the bending the light coming from his
direction, she successfully created the image of the walls and
furniture around her. Thanks to her extra time and adrenaline,
she had some time to decide on the easiest way out. The door
would be a simple choice, given that the hedgehog wasn't
blocking it. However, it would give her illusion away if it
creaked. Of course, the only way out was the window.
Maybe, today, death was an option for her.

Sonic's eyes shot wide open as he saw the girl vanish, surprised
he poked his head leaning in the window looking around. "Where'd
she go?" He thought to himself as he rushed into to room to
where she was standing, as he zipped to her location he slammed
into something when he went to check the dresser. He fell to the
floor rubbing his head wondering what he had slammed into until
he snapped his fingers signifying he was catching onto what was
happening here. He looked to the dresser before him an the big
empty space between him and it before jumping forward in an
attempt to grab whatever was seemingly filling that space. "I've
got ya now!" He belted out in excitement expecting to grab a
hold of the crook.

---------------------------------------------------------
Kaibette fell to the floor, the wind knocked out of her by the
impact. If there was one thing she hadn't anticipated, it would
be this. Thanks to the impact, the focus she had on her powers
faltered, flickering her visible image for a few seconds.
Despite the fact that her escaping situation just got a lot more
tricky, she found some solace in the fact that her exit had
finally been cleared. At least, she did before she heard him
snap.
Realizing that he'd understood what was going on, her stress
levels climbed. She managed to just barely dodge his incoming
hands by rolling away and scrambling onto all fours, but the
sound of her claws on the hardwood flooring gave away her
position. That, and she was pretty certain her cursed tail
brushed his leg or something. Now struggling to keep up the
illusion, the genet grew frazzled; each of her movements was
less precise and her camouflage lost some of its accuracies.
Instead of letting herself be seen, she would just have to stop
him from seeing. Ivory teeth dug into her bottom lip as she
thought. She'd never tried this on someone so fast, but given
her current situation, she'd have to take the risk.
Her illusion dropped as she raised her dominant hand once more.
The rest of her energy would be needed for this and her escape.
Sonic's position appeared within her mind, and she honed in on
the position of his eyes. That was it. After her hand snapped
down into a fist, his sight should've been gone-- or at least,
extremely impaired. She'd stopped the majority of the light from
reaching his eyes, but it would all come back if she got far
enough away.
Black boots crunched the broken glass into the floor as Kai ran
to the window. She took a running leap and landed hard on the
street, needing to roll to absorb the impact. Dark brown hair
whipped as she turned, making sure she'd caught the hedgehog off
guard enough to get a decent lead before she scurried off into a
dark alley.

Ready to react in an instant Sonic stopped in his tracks as all
light left his eyes, he screeched to a halt waving his fingers
in front of his face. "I can't see......what the hell did you do
to me?" He shouted tripping over his own feet while his ears
picked up the glass cracking signifying the feline's get away.
Caught up in panic he crawled over to the window pulling himself
up still unable to see. He had deduced the cat could turn
invisible but he had no idea what she had done to impair sight.
Sonic knew he'd be no match for this foe without his eyes so he
pulled back the cuff of his glove and screamed into his
communicator. "AMY! I need backup!" He hoped Amy's frequency
would be open as he sent her the SOS communication. Normally
Sonic was far too proud to ask any of his friends for help but
in those rare occasions when the odds were stacked so highly
against him his life was on the line he'd call out to a fellow
Freedom Fighter for help.

After making it into the alley she pressed herself against a
wall, trying to hide in the shadows. Not that Kai needed to
because she noticed pretty quickly that no one came to pursue
her. She had actually gotten the best of that damn hedgehog! An
ivory muzzle and intense lime eyes peered out of the shady
pathway, trying to confirm her conclusion. Across the way in the
room with the broken window stood a sight she hadn't
anticipated. Sonic was in a panic, and she couldn't stop a
sh*t-eating grin from spreading across her face when she heard
him call for help. Her teeth dug into her bottom lip as she
tried to stop the smile from growing wider. She'd thought of
something devious.
Should she be trying to get away right now? Yes. Would leaving
the scene be the most sound decision? Yes. Was it worth risking
her earnings that night to taunt the cocky hotshot that
aggravated her to no end? ...Yes, abso-f*cking-lutely! Kaibette
was tired, but not outright exhausted, so she figured she could
keep him blind for a couple minutes more. In the cover of the
dark alleyway, she took off her backpack and shoes. Just in case
anything went wrong, she stashed the wad of money in her
cleavage. If Sonic went for her backpack, she'd still keep her
cash prize. Somehow she fit her shoes in her bag and while
returning to the smashed window she slipped the backpack onto
her back.
A wave of elation and confidence hit her as she watched him
struggle. To announce her appearance, her knuckles rapped on the
window frame. Ensuring she had a clear getaway route, she
decided to scale the wall a little bit and rest beside the
window, claws digging into the brick to secure her weight. She
was going to have fun with this.
"Knock knock! Eye'm back!" The genet had to fight to keep her
laughter under wraps, though she was so jovial that anyone could
hear her smile. "What a sight you are! Maybe viewing this
situation through a different lens might help you out. Iris I
could help you with that, but I gotta make like a ray and
bounce. Sorry that I have to leave you in the dark like this.
I'm travelling light, you know? Maybe if you calm down a little
bit, things for you will brighten up! Ciao!"
After that exchange, she only managed to scramble up to the top
of the building before falling out in a fit of laughter. Her
focus was lost, and she knew his vision would clear up soon, so
she forced herself to get up and quell her cackling.

Sonic couldn't believe his ears, his forehead was throbbing and
his left eye started to twitch out of anger. "You are not making
standing there, making ocular based puns right now." Before he
could even react he tripped over his own feet yet again as her
obnoxious voice and mocking cackling grew fainter and fainter
with the feline thief now getting further and further away from
the crime scene. With some distance between the two the blue
hedgehog's sight slowly returned, the first thing he did was
cancel the request for help on his communicator. He leaned out
the window propping his head up with his fist as he watched the
cat scurry away. "It's cute when they try to run." He commented
to himself before he blitzed to the top of the building standing
over the hysterical feline. Her joyful laughter would be brought
to an abrupt halt as it was cut off by the sound of Sonic
tapping his foot with his hands on his hips. "You thought you
could get away from me? I can see what you were laughing at now
that is funny."
He swiftly placed his sneaker atop her chest his powerful legs
pressing her against the ground. His cocky grin lit as he looked
down at while shaking his head. "Normally I'd tell the fuzz to
go easy on you but after those eye cracks, I hope they throw the
book at you." Sonic smiled fanning his hand out across the air.
"I can see the headline now, beloved hero foils light bending
bandit. Has a nice ring to it don't ya think?"

Kai choked on her own chortles as she struggled to stop
laughing. The muscles in her stomach ached and tears pricked at
her eyes as Sonic looked down at her form. She was having a
conniption and the gravity of the situation change didn't get to
her head. Not even the firetruck red shoe firmly planted on her
knocked her butt into gear. In fact, it made the whole debacle
more entertaining.
It wasn't exactly her choice to be giggly. Her entire plan had
gone awry and she should be at home right now, but she wasn't.
She was tired. She wanted to eat. She wanted to sleep. She
wanted to scream. She wanted the blue buffoon to be anywhere but
here. But she wouldn't be getting any of those things, so the
least she could do was let herself come to terms with the
absurdity of this situation--and p*ss off Sonic in the process.
Judging by the way he handled being laughed at, Kaibette figured
rubbing salt in the wound wouldn't hurt much either. Might even
give her time to think.
"No! No," Her writhing form could barely take a breath without
wheezing, and her voice reflected that. "I was laughing at--" A
gasp for air interrupted her speech. "YOU LOOKED SO F*CKING
STUPID HOLY SH*T!" The words came out louder than she'd
intended, but she continued nonetheless. "Oh my gosh. You should
have seen the look on your face--OH WAIT! YOU COULDN'T!"
Another, smaller, fit of chuckling came as he said some cocky
bullsh*t that she didn't really pay attention to.
"A-And you started trippin' over yourself! Then the call for
help! I can't breathe!" Tears were rolling down her cheeks by
now and the genet had started slapping the ground--or rather,
the roof in this case. She exaggerated the panic in his voice
from earlier, "AMY! AMY I NEED BACKUP!! AMY HELP ME!"
Her snickering died down to heavy breathing and she wiped her
tears, slightly rejuvenated by the fit but still stuck under
Sonic's sneaker. "I got you so good..."

Sonic's gaze dropped to an unimpressed glare as he belted out.
"Laugh it up while you can." Following that there was a blur of
motion and a loud metallic clang! Sonic had zipped her down to
the castle dungeon and slammed her into one of the holding cells
in the blink of an eye. He had a smug smile sprawl across his
face as he knocked on the bars. "If you can't do the time, don't
do the crime. You've had your fun, now enjoy repaying your debut
to society. Way I hear it Princess Sally and King Max can't
stand thieves so I can't wait to see them throw the book at
you." Sonic stood proudly with his arms crossed and a smug
smirk. "I don't know who you are but I hope you like dirty rat
infested cells. You cat like chasing mice right?"

As soon as Kai's spotted behind hit the floor of that cell, she
was peeling herself off the ground. That decision wasn't very
well thought out, proven by the biting ache that wracked her
head and pulsed between her temples. Both moving and stopping at
high speeds and the liberal use of her abilities were starting
to catch up to her. She didn't have much of a choice, however;
this situation called for a little extra exertion. Her previous
hysterical disposition was wiped clear from her person, in its
place stood a cool glare. Desperately trying to ignore the
hedgehog's jeers, she put her attention on her surroundings. 'A
dungeon? Great.'
One of his taunts, in particular, hit a nerve: "You've had your
fun, now enjoy repaying your debt to society."
Clearly annoyed and trying to nurse her growing headache, she
pressed her index and middle fingers to her temples, rubbing
them in a circular motion. Not bothering with the hand motion
nonsense, she blinded him. Although, this time, she opened the
little black box in the back of her head that she always tried
to keep locked away. Picking memory from a selection of gruesome
scenes, she pushed it to the forefront of her conscience,
tailoring whatever light that would be reaching Sonic's eyes to
recreate the sight.
(CONTENT WARNING: If you're not a fan of dead people and graphic
injuries/gore being described, I wouldn't read ahead)
The moment played out like a macabre silent film, only
the camera that shot it was centered behind Kaibette's eyes.
Hazy silhouettes of death egg robot sentinels dotted the
familiar, fiery horizon, but they were blurry as she was fixated
on something else. Something far less easy to look at.
At her feet lay the mangled corpses of a mother and a child that
looked to be no older than seven. Twisted and barely
recognizable, the pair was buried beneath the rubble of a
collapsed building, probably having spent their final minutes
hiding out in wait for a search and rescue team. Their faces--or
what was left of them--were contorted, frozen in a state of
despair and horror. Shrapnel and other building materials had
pierced and lacerated their bodies, and liquefied remains had
stained the surrounding debris. Maggots and other insects
wriggled around in any openings in the skin, and flies circled
around the surrounding area.
For some reason, the "camera" wouldn't turn away. Instead, it
focused in on the deceased, taking in the sunken eyes, exposed
flesh, and purification. The mouth of the mother was pulled
back, flesh rotting away to expose bone, and mouth so full with
bugs that it seemed like she was gargling them. The child was in
an indescribably horrific state, head smashed in from the force
of whatever impact they experienced.
A living figure with a camera came into view from the right
side, snapping photos of the horror before the view zoomed in.
Kai's gloved hands could be seen, digging out around the bodies
and going through the arduous process of removing them from the
wreckage.
(Okay yall it's safe to read again)
Kai had no problems keeping this film from her memory running
for sonic to view. The pain from her headache caused her eyes to
become teary, but she did her best to keep her face as
expressionless as possible. And when she spoke, her voice was
eerily calm.
"If anyone is indebted to anyone else here, it's society to me.
Let me out or you get a good look at a lot worse."
