<Personality>
Summary/TL;DR: Kaibette’s personality changes depending on
who she’s with, but in simple terms, she’s pretty
closed off. If you don’t know her, she seems like a cold,
2-faced b*tch. If you’re lucky enough to know her,
she’s a generous nerd with a dark sense of humor. She
sucks at making decisions and doing things for herself, but
she’s useful when given direct instructions for something
that doesn’t quite benefit her. She’s super
depressed but hides her true feelings well for the benefit of
everyone. The only exception to this is in her tail and face. If
you pay attention they’re dead giveaways for her mood.
She’s indifferent about way more things than she should
be. Like her future, for instance. Didn’t expect to live
this long. Regardless, she still tries to help her friends out
with her generosity and well thought out advice. Romance sucks
and she tries to stay out of it, but it’s difficult since
she subconsciously craves attention and validation, resulting in
a string of awful relationships. But, hey, she’s trying.
She basically is a fight between empathy and apathy, and
whatever emptiness she feels, she fills with useless sh*t,
impulsive actions, and cheap thrills. A real self-fulfilling
prophecy.

Traits (In a Group): Standoff-ish, agreeable (to a fault),
generous, stoic, fake as hell, tolerant
When it comes to being outgoing, she's awful. She wishes she
could be more extroverted, but tends to stay on the outsides of
the group. Those in groups with her tend to find her forgettable
unless they bring up a topic that gets her talking.
Unfortunately, that doesn't happen too often. If she gets angry
with someone in a group, she has a tendency to talk sh*t behind
their back and clam up and play dumb if they confront her. If
she’s angry enough, she’ll snap.
She works hard when given a task that would affect everyone,
solely out of not wanting to f*ck them over. When this task
requires the rest of the group to be present, she will get
anxious. If that task requires teamwork, she gives up the reins
and lets everyone else make the decisions. She’s extremely
passive to the point where if she knows someone is wrong about
something, she’d rather let them mess up and fix their
problem then straight up tell them that their wrong. Going along
with this, she avoids being overly kind, but if she has the
opportunity (and a good mood) she’ll be generous.
Kaibette has almost NO qualms about double-crossing her group if
the reward is fruitful enough.
Traits (Alone): Lazy/relaxed, depressed, paranoid,
unorganized/messy
If forced to do a task for herself, she will be noticeably less
hardworking and more anxious. She is prone to bouts of
depression due to her family life and current situation.
Combined, this means she almost always procrastinates. After
all, why do a task now when she can wait until she might be
better at it, later?
Making decisions is something that she really struggles with.
Instead of picking something and being confident, Kai will think
every single option through, down to the consequences of the
consequences. In fact, her penchant for overthinking is so
strong that she often goes to several sources for validation
before even entertaining putting a bias on a decision. Often
times, this takes too long and the time she had to make the
choice runs out, resulting in her being forced to take a path
that she wouldn’t have necessarily chosen. But it’s
alright with her because at least she didn’t have to make
the decision in the end. If she’s feeling confident, she
might just go on intuition, but things get crazy when her
confidence wears off.
When it comes to taking care of herself, she doesn't really do
that. If she has makeup it's a special occasion. If she’s
actually dressed that means she was forced to go outside. Due to
this, she requires a notification in advance if anyone wants to
hang out with her. Unfortunately, no one notifies her because no
one really hangs out with her.
Her living quarters are less than stellar. She's messy,
basically, sometimes to the point of it being a health hazard.
But it's fine because she doesn't let anyone inside of her
personal quarters, even those she deems to be her friends.
Traits (With Friends): Witty/funny, empathetic, generous (level
2), loyal, patient
When around people she's close with--there are few who can
achieve this status-- she brightens up; her sense of humor and
quick thinking shine through and she loves to make other people
laugh. This (obscure) humor comes at a price, however: she has
difficulty with serious emotional conversations. Her lips are
sealed when it comes to her true feelings because she's scared
about being disliked for them. Count on her to test the waters
before being forced to open up to someone, to make sure that
they won't have a negative reaction. If they seem like they
would react negatively, she just channels her discomfort through
stupid jokes and memes and bullsh*t really.
As for romance; her love life is pretty dry. She had a phase
where she was a total sl*t to try and cope with it. Didn't work
out too well. She has some experience with men and no experience
with women. Given this, she prefers to put it out of mind
because she has a tendency to be a tiny bit excessive when she
falls. So, Kaibette works pretty hard to hide the fact that she
likes them if she has a crush. Does it work? Not always. This
puts her in a vulnerable position when she likes someone
romantically because she can be exploited VERY easily.
Kaibette has an INTENSE sense of loyalty to those who gain her
trust. If you’re lucky enough to get on her good side,
she’ll lie, steal, double-cross, and cheat for you.
</Personality>
<Occupation>
Her vocational *talent* is reconnaissance since she's easily
forgotten and has a penchant for staying undetected. With her
enlistment in the Resistance, this was her main task. While
Kaibette is good and staying undetected, her spots and long tail
don't make for very good camouflage indoors, so eventually, her
services were not needed anymore.
After the fall of the Eggman Empire, she found herself as an
uncertified mortician. While Sonic and company were having a
happy celebration, she and a small group of others were trying
to clear the rubble and identify the casualties. Needless to
say, it's an awful, thankless job that f*cking sucks and
triggers her fear of mortality but someone has to do it.
Lately, she’s worked with several companies that recover
bodies and clean up in homes/apartments where someone had a
lonely death. (Read: They died and no one knew until weeks to
months later) She still hates her job and often doesn’t
show up but she needs to pay the rent somehow. Any other income
is stolen, despite the fact that she’s a pretty mediocre
thief sometimes. She wishes she didn’t have to, but her
artwork isn’t good enough to pay the bills.

<Abilities>
Light Bending
While not completely developed, Kaibette has the ability to
manipulate light, whether it’s creating it or blocking it.
It has the tendency to manifest itself in unintentional ways
when she gets emotional. This could produce an array of
practical applications, but she has only managed to learn skills
based on the principal/idea of sight. Many offensive attacks
she’s tried to learn only leave her hands with burns.
Projection: The ability to separate her consciousness, or
“eyes” from her physical body and travel anywhere,
much like a ghost. It allows her to gather information easily.
However, her physical body is basically brain dead in this
state, completely limp and defenseless. If her physical body is
hurt, she’ll feel it. If disturbed when leaving her body
or returning to it, her vision will be doubled/blurry, and her
coordination will be off. The only way to correct this is either
to wait until her body-mind connection realigns or to leave her
body completely and repeat the process. And, if her body were to
be fatally wounded/killed, then she would be stuck in the
ghostly form. (Unless she chose to rejoin with her dead body and
kill her conscious completely but homegirl ain’t down with
that)
She has a bad habit of doing this in her sleep and mistaking it
for lucid dreaming. Nights that this happens, she gets no rest
from her sleep and wakes up just as tired as she was before she
fell asleep.
Illusion: (If you played Sonic Forces it’s like
Infinite’s VR powers but a lot weaker) Basically,
she’s able to create illusions to trick the victim into
thinking they’re experiencing something real. She only
uses light so anything that disturbs their sense of hearing,
smell, taste or touch can snap them out of it. She also
doesn’t yet know how to conjure up realistically
horrifying situations in a way that’s stamina efficient.
Temporary Blindness: Her main parlor trick is simply
“stealing” her opponent’s vision. By blocking
any light from reaching their eyes, she can effectively blind
them for a period of time. This requires close physical
proximity, if not physical contact in order to work well, and
the time that it lasts depends on the energy Kai has and the
distance between her and the victim.
This can be used short term to replace someone’s field of
vision with a jarring image to startle them and put them off
guard. Usually, these images are actual memories from her job.
Camouflage: By misdirecting the light rays (that would normally
hit her, bounce off and cause others to see her) she can
“disappear.” This takes a lot of focus and
self-awareness to pull off and it’s not always accurate
because of her wild hair and large tail. Usually, those parts of
her can be seen at least partially. This also won’t work
if she makes physical contact with anyone because they will be
able to feel where she is. Also, when reflective surfaces are
involved (water, mirrors, glass) it makes things more difficult
for her. It works best when she’s trying to avoid someone
specific, as she can gauge a specific angle to cover herself
from and not be concerned with any other perspectives people
might see her from.
When trying to show off, she will often use this ability to
appear out of thin air, much like the Cheshire cat. (Genets are
not cats, by the way. They are classified as cat-like but not in
the cat family. The more you know!)
Agility, Balance, Quick Reflexes and Enhanced Proprioception
She is exceptionally adept at climbing things, trees in
particular. However, she has learned to scale things without as
much texture, like the outer walls of some buildings, thanks to
her claws. With climbing comes the need to balance on the
objects she climbs, so she has that skill down pretty solid as
well. And to avoid falling, she’s developed some pretty
quick reflexes and a solid hold on proprioception.
Speed+
While she's on the faster side of average speed when walking
normally, she's notably faster when on all fours-- scaling
walls, running through trees, etc.
Melee Skills-
She runs away more often than she fights, and it shows. Her
claws and teeth may be pretty good weapons when in a close
combat pinch, but if you ask her to throw a punch it'll feel
like a nudge. Her kicks are slightly better though but still
kind of weak.
Durability++
She’s a tough genet, as much as she thinks/wishes she
isn’t. Comes at a price though.
</Abilities>
<Weaknesses>
Pain Tolerance--
She can withstand a lot of different attacks, but she
can’t tolerate pain very well. She cries when injuries
hurt too badly which can lead to her getting taunted in fights.
She will ache like hell and want to die but she just can’t
go down because she’s so tough.
Low Motivation
Her energy for decisions and actions is finite. If she’s
in a fight, she’ll start out with high energy and gusto
but it won’t be long before she finds the altercation a
bore and gets really sloppy or desperate with her moves. Long
fights are her Achilles heel and she’s known to just throw
in the towel and leave if it’s not worth the reward.
Genuine Friendly/Romantic Advances
They catch her off guard regardless of if she’s in a fight
or not. If she’s manipulating light, it’ll cause her
to lose focus. If she’s fighting, it’ll give her
opponent an opening. No matter what, though, it’ll occupy
her mind for a good while after.
Cowardice
If an enemy genuinely seems too strong for her, she will turn
tail and run. If any of her fears are in her way, you can bet
that she will pull a 180 and head back to square one just to
plan something out that doesn’t involve facing the things
she’s scared of. All while pretending that there’s a
less embarrassing reason for it.
</Weaknesses>
<Background>
Kaibette grew up as a pretty reasonable kid. She’s the
youngest of four; she has two older sisters and one older
brother. Her childhood was decent. Despite being bullied by her
older brother and her sisters feeling more like strangers than
siblings, she found happiness with creating, and she had the
mind to match. Since her parents worked full time she
didn’t really interact with them much. Still, her life
seemed to be headed in a bright direction until she turned 13.
In one year, her life completely changed. Her mother was
diagnosed with an incurable illness, and months later her father
passed away from a severe heart attack. Try as she might to not
let this impact her, no amount of force would stop this from
changing her family dynamic forever.
Everything she knew shattered before her and the more she tried
to put the pieces back together, the more cracks she could find.
Her older sisters moved completely out of the equation, and her
brother was the golden child since he was the only son. Her
mother constantly questioned and at times insulted her passion
to create in hopes that she would use her intelligence to land a
more stable job, but all that did was make things worse for her.
Instead of knowing exactly what decisions to make, she started
questioning her processes, actions, and choices. Her creativity
left her the more her mom insulted her decisions, and now she's
basically a hollow shell of her former self. This was all made
worse by the fact that her brother was truly awful. It tore her
up inside knowing that she was the one who was always wrong
despite her brother’s foul attitude and extensive criminal
record. All she wanted to do was make pretty pictures but
apparently, her decision to want that was incorrect while going
to jail was not.
The relationship with her mother soured and pickled well into
her late teenage years. If she was to argue back about the
harassment, she’d get yelled at and told that she was
always wrong, that she didn’t know enough to argue, and
that she’s too young to hold an opinion. If she were to be
silent, she’d be called disrespectful. And if she were to
outright refuse to cooperate, there would be beatings. Her
depression didn’t go unnoticed either; it was often said
that she was faking it for the attention. Needless to say, she
learned how to hold back emotions fairly quickly.
Only recently has Kaibette been digesting how abusive her family
is. Having reconnected with her sister and cutting contact with
her mother, she’s heard many familiar stories of control
and aggression: gas lighting, beating, harassing, screaming, the
list goes on. The uncomfortable part is that her father was in
on it too. She tried really hard to see the best in everyone in
her family, even her mother and despite the fact that she too
was beaten, screamed at, and harassed, she tried. Her
mother’s illness further complicates her feelings; she
struggles to balance not being on good terms with knowing her
mother could die any day now. She keeps this all to herself
though and is tight-lipped about it.

Kaibette is resentful of Sonic for getting the glory. Thanks to
her job and her history, she knows more than anyone how much
manpower behind the scenes things take. If he was so great, why
didn’t he drag any corpses out of the rubble? Where was he
when the remains had to be labeled and buried? She especially
resents Sonic for getting praise solely for his speed and saving
a couple people. Even though she knows she has no real reason to
hate him and the Freedom Fighters *that much,* she can’t
help the burning envy in bitterness whenever it’s brought
up. Regardless, the way he portrays himself and his ego just rub
her the wrong way.
She thinks Shadow truly is the better hedgehog.
Sonya is less of a rival and more of a consistent annoyance to
her. (So, yes, a rival)
