After about a good dozen splashes of hot water and a little
short meditation break in the mens room, he headed back out. He
pulled his brown leather jacket out and put it on now knowing
that the situation dialed down and didn't need to be taken off
since no fight seemed to be going down anytime soon. Hopefully
Mighty looked down a bit as he walked in the middle of the hall
as others looked a little at him, he leaned his back forward and
smiled at a group of girls who stared back at him, they giggled
a little. He grabbed a large croissant from the coffee stand,
giving the inside a batch of butter and taking a bite. The
armadillo looked over his shoulder, listened to what the oldie
had to say. "People like him don't know what's really right and
wrong, because there is none. It all depends on the main
benefacting opinion. Kinda like a uh..flies. We didn't want them
because they are annoying and all but they made up a huge part
of the food chain. Something like that." he nodded, giving him
some cream as a little appreciation but a jokingly light hearted
insult. "Maybe you should sweeten that coffee a little eh? You
don't look in the best mood." the strong man snickered before
walking back around a little the vicinity.

Rouge was still angry at the outcome but seeing that James came
to talk to her felt almost good until he talked and reminded her
of the potential assault charges and the consequences of her
actions. To her, it seemed like James was still dense like a
brick wall and wouldn't understand even if tried to explain her
actions to him. But seeing that more people were walking their
ways made her reassured to see that they were probably coming
for a bad coffee and not to talk sense to her. She already had
Shadow if she wanted to be reminded of the fragile balance in
between good and evil. This guy has always been a mystery to her
and then she realized that she was distracted by her own
thoughts and that James was still standing in front of her.
''Even if I'd explain myself to you, James, you wouldn't
understand. You probably never had a real friend you care of to
the point of noticing distress in their body language or be able
to recognize the signs of abuse on someone. I did, I saw the
distress and noticed that something was off and it ticked me. So
if you're serious about letting me go. Then be ready, because I
won't rest easy until that abusive son of a duck will roam free
on this planet.''She explained on in a composed low voice to
make sure that no one would pay attention to her more than
needed. After all, she didn't understand the German swearing but
the body language was enough to understand that he was at least
just as angry as she was. Then she saw the wolf chugging the
burning hot coffee in one go which was enough to make her
grimace.

James took a deep breath as he listened to what Rouge told him.
It struck deep when she mentioned that he hadn't a friend like
that in his life... because she wasn't wrong, whether she knew
it or not. He didn't have a friend like that, never had. Not
since he was stabbed in the back by his mother.
"You're right, i don't have friends like that, but that doesn't
change the facts," he shrugged as he rested himself against his
shield and let out a sigh, "look, i am just pointing it out
because i don't want to you be locked up, let alone be the one
to haul you off. But i can't let you go around and act like
that, even if that duck should be roasted and served at
christmas dinner for what he is doing, which i must say he
doesn't... although he is a dick. Until he makes a mistake or is
called out for falsifying everything with tangible proof there's
nothing the police can do... but i suppose you already know
that."
That was when the angry foreigner came over for some coffee as
well. James did recognize him too, the one that bayoneted
Scourge... guess that explained the rage. He had seen it all,
which game more credibility to what he said... but it didn't
change much in regards to his actions.
"You certainly got yourself worked up, sir," He called to Lukas
with a stern voice, "mind if i ask that you don't get the crowd
worked up? I understand we all know that he is spewing bile, but
please. The last thing we need is a riot. Hopefully that damn
armadillo understands that too."

this coming!” [Light hearted chuckling]
[i]”Words cannot begin to express how proud i am of those
that stand on this stage with me tonight, if it hadn’t
been for the combined courage and bravery that we showed as a
TEAM we wouldn’t have saved nearly as many as we did and
for those we didn’t.. that will weigh heavily on my heart
for as long as i live .. but i will continue to keep fighting
and saving as many as i am capable, because when you know for a
fact that you have people in your life worth fighting
for..”
[Glancing in his tearful wife and youngest daughters direction]
Louse: “WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH DADDY!”
[Winking at them]
[i] “Then that’s all there is to it, everything i do
is for those that i inspire and cherish everyday, and i guess it
without saying .. [Getting on one knee to look the shy huddle
of orphans in the eyes]
[i] “Receiving thanks from you all is a previledge.”
As expected, Quacks smile began to deepen, as war splitting
applause began to break out across the room.

Lukas watched as the quack doctor put on his little show,
pretending to be humble and a good Samaritan rather than the
silver tongued snake he had proven himself to be. Hearing the
crowd lay their adoration at the duck's feet made want to be
sick. To his credit Quack did make a point of acknowledging the
others that had helped prevent more loss of life, except of
course for Sonya's contributions, in fact it seemed he had even
gone so far as to exclude the girl from being on stage with the
rest of the medical team.
"How does he even stand himself? Is he really so petty and vile
that he won't even let the poor girl be on stage?" Lukas asked
aloud as he pointed out Sonya's lack of an appearance on the
stage.

Shadow tilted his head, unable to fathom why Rouge is acting
strange, this couldnt be the famous treasure hnter, capable of
infiltration without fail, able to hold her ground against
Knuckles, the one who wouldn't make ANY mistakes like that, How
bizarre. Naturally the brain seeks to obtain knowledge behind
her actions, Shadow's high tech shoes clanked the ground as he
began to approach his teammate, soon the answers he is looking
for will come from someone he never expected to say.
"That's not entirely accurate, I'm afraid .. i mean while Sonya
is an asset to the medical team as whole, her involvement in
saving the orphanage was more of a background role.. after all
we're medics we leave the direct action to the none medical
heroes, Sally, Sonic, Amy Rose, .. it would be within your best
interest not to make this girl out to be anything she's not,
false hope being cruel and all.."
EXCUSE ME!?
Sonya gave it her ALL to save those children, none of them would
still be here if she didn't put up those barriers! In fact
EVERYONE present during the orphanage attack is a hero that day,
polices officers, doctors, resistant members and anyone who is
brave to risk there lives for those children, thanks to them
they get to live to see tomorrow, Some people didn't make it!
Where the heck was this guy when the accident happened? Shadow
didn't see an inch of green feather's helping those in need, how
dare he discredit Sonya's accomplishments, taking them for his
own!
These people are eating it up and its frustrating, from this
point on every time that egotistical bird brain squawks, Shadow
would grit his teeth, clenching a fist, resisting the temptation
to punch him in the face. [This guy makes Sonic look humble, I
wish he would shut his mouth already..] its not illegal to
express one's feelings within the mind.
NO wonder Rouge kicked him in the face, he is so damn lucky the
law is protecting him. The others like that wolf and Mighty have
no issue to call out his bullshit, its better this way. He
wondered where is Sonya in all of this, she didn't come back for
a while, poor girl must be in tears being put down like this..
"Where is Sonya?" he asked the group with his arms folded.

''I have to apologize to her...for attacking her...''She paused
but then heard the speech of Dr Quack. She was already upset but
now she was feeling spite toward that green bird. Taking the
credit from his own adoptive daughter wasn't enough, he boosted
his own ego and treated her like rubbish. Rouge wanted nothing
more than find her friend, apologize and invite her to get a
coffee to cheer her up and maybe ask for her forgiveness. She
still had tried to break the bird skull with a powerful kick.
But then Shadow had a point, where was Sonya? She wasn't on
stage or anywhere to be found so far. Maybe it was just her
being a little on edge and paranoid but something was off.
''Shad, something's off. Sonya is not on stage and I don't think
she'd leave without saying goodbye. I get how exhausting her day
must have been...but given how much of jerk that bird is...can
we go look for her? please... James, you too. I don't want to be
alone in the presence of that avian rascal or I can't guarantee
I won't try to break his every bone...''
She offered an embarrassed smile to James and Shadow before
turning herself to Lukas and give him a glance with a heavy
silence, she felt as he was just as angry toward the duck as her
and he probably cared about Sonya, or maybe not. She had no idea
but her instinct kicked in and mouthed the word ''please...''
without actually emitting any sounds before actually start
walking to begin her search for her friend.'I'm coming, to
apologize, yes...Who are you kidding, you just want to make sure
she's safe...'She thought but kept walking.

James also heard the speech and rolled his eyes. Again, they
couldn't intervene, but they didn't have to like it either. It
would also appear that he wasn't the only one to call Rouge out
for her inappropriate behavior. Still, when they brought up that
Sonya had vanished he seemed to express a bit of concern. What
Rouge did make sense, even if he didn't know Sonya beyond what
he had seen... which wasn't much.
"If you wish. Just give me a moment to radio it in," he nodded
and pulled out his radio, "sir, this is Mitchell. We got a
missing person, i am joining a search party to make sure she is
okay, over."
"Affirmative, who is missing?" asked the radio operator.
"Sonya from what i'm understanding, one of the doctor's
assistants," James explained, going with what Quack had said to
make sure the operator on site understood since he hadn't been
there when it happened, "is the request granted?"
"Request granted," the operator confirmed, "strange that she
wouldn't be here."
"Yeah..." James trailed and lowered his radio, "wonder why...
over and out."
With that out of the way he packed up his shield and placed it
on his back. Then he looked to the others, "very well, i am
ready. Let's go find her."

When the others all decided to go look for Sonya Lukas was quick
to agree. "I'm in, lets go find the girl before listening to
Doktor Dummkopf stroke his ego makes me sick." Lukas said as he
dismissively waved his hand in Quack's direction as if the duck
was a bothersome insect to be swatted. "Where should we start
looking?" He asked looking to the others.

[i] Everything was going according to plan, between that no good
fennec being effectively taken of for the time being, and the
public so willing to believe everything that came from word of
beak in his case, the night couldn't have been going more
splendidly. Well until he subtly clocked onto the meddlesome
group that apparently seemed to be making it their mission of
the evening to make his life difficult. Suppressing the urge to
twist his beak into a scowl, he made sure his pleasant
expression remained fixed in place, while he oh so subtly
signalled the hired 'help' that he'd had take care of Sonya to
make moves and intervene with the interference that was bound to
happen if any of those four imbeciles left the room to try and
find the damn fox. He wasn't going to let any of them snatch
away his time in the spotlight that was for sure.
Clearing his throat to make sure that he re attracted the crowds
attention, and to take away from the altercation that his hired
help was about to get into with Rouge, he forced jovial
genuineness into his tone as he spoke.
"Now i know that i've spent so much time talking about how my
team contributed to saving THOUSANDS of lives .. but the truth
of the matter is many played their individual parts to make sure
that the death count was low that day, and i think it's time to
make sure that the main heros of the hour get their credit where
due tonight! can i get a spotlight please!"
[Glancing in Lukas, James, and Shadows directions]
"How about a hand for these brilliant fellas folks! come on up
here!"
Out of his peripheral vision, he saw one of his goons casually
dressed up to look the part of general staff, step directly in
front of the Bat to block her exit from the room.
[b] "Sorry Miss .. unfortunately we don't permit wandering
around during the speeches." [Gruff tone.]
