The Wandering Traveler [City Outskirts]
By: Starwhiskers Date: April 14, 2018, 2:37 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Mobius Journal Entry: Day One
I arrived on Mobius sometime in the night and decided to camp
out till dawn. The portal had led me to a small lagoon next to
an outcropping of jagged moss covered rock. I was instantly
struck by how... luscious and vibrant the flora is here. It's
so... different compared to the forestry back home. More
jubilant and full of life.
It's beautiful.
I made my way through the forest and eventually came across a
dusty hiking trail. Judging from the type of plant life growing
within this region, I figured I was in some sort of tropical
area near by the ocean. My suspicions were soon revealed to be
true when I heard the crashing of waves on the shore. I arrived
at a beach late this afternoon, and decided to take a break
while I collected myself and decided what I want to do next.
The scouts that were sent last month had returned only a week
ago, and gave me a map of present day Mobius that I intend to
use on my journey here. They informed me of a huge city called
"Mobotropolis", which is where I plan to travel to first. I
figure if there's any place I want to go for information on the
old ruins of Faterious, this city is the place. I noticed some
civilization not too far away from here, so I think I can ask
around for directions to this city. Hopefully it won't be too
long of a walk.
I think for now I will continue to rest and meditate before
heading out again. This planet's ocean certainly is soothing to
listen to.
~Azure, Entry's End.

The navy blue hedgehog sighs and closes her journal,
leaning back on an old rotted log that was left in the shade of
some tall palm trees. She was hoping that her portal would of
dumped her somewhere a little bit less... rural than this, but
she supposed there wasn't much that could be done about it now.
It was going to be a long journey anyway, she may as well get
comfortable. She wasn't sure when the next time she would see
her home would be.
Not that she was bothered too much by that, anyway. For the
first time, Azure the Hedgehog, a Guardian of Fate and next in
line for the title of Oracle, would be free to roam a planet
where nobody had any idea who she was and would regard her as
any other common individual. It would be a nice break from being
reminded of the huge responsibilities she carried.
She wasn't even allowed to bring one Sentinel with her this
time. This pilgrimage she was on was considered incredibly
sacred to her training, and not even members outside the Circle
even knew about this tradition.
Azure couldn't help but feel greatful for this solitude she was
strictly granted.
"It's almost like I'm on vacation..." She murmurs to herself
softly, gold eyes watching the ocean waves lap at the shore
further down the sandy hill. A vacation where... technically she
was still on the job, but a vacation no less.
She smiles a little absently and tucks her journal and ink pen
away into her travel pack. For a good, long while, the navy
hedgehog sits in silence while the ocean breeze coasts through
her wavy, ombre quills and filling her nose with the thick smell
of sea salt. What a beautiful world this place was...
Finally, she pushes herself to her feet and pulls her hood back
over her head. She needed to get moving again, and hopefully
find someone who could give her the directions she needed.
With a determined glint in her eye, the hedgehog begins making
her way down the beach towards the small civilization she had
seen up ahead.

Petrov took a deep breath and readied his rifle. He had been
stalking this particular critter for a few days now and now it
was time to bag it. He would've engineered a trap with
explosives, but the damn thing was too smart for that, so it'd
have to be done with his trusty hunting rifle.
He did look forward to making use of the remains. He'd mount the
head in his little cabin and usually eat the rest. One might say
he could just buy the food, but there was no fun in that. No, he
lived for the hunt and he'd gather what he needed that way.
There it was, slowly exposing itself to him as he lied in wait
within the bushes a fair distance from it. It was clueless and
helpless, meaning he had the best shot he'd get. He took a deep
breath and steadied himself. Then he squeezed the trigger.
A loud crack shattered the serene silence in the area near the
beach as the rifle fired and nailed the animal. A clean kill and
quick death, just as he liked it. Now to secure it and haul it
back home.

"Oh my sTARS-"
The navy hedgehog gasps and nearly leaps out of her skin as what
she could consider one of the, if not, the loudest sound she's
ever heard echoed from somewhere nearby. Even the birds that had
previously been singing away in the trees took off in a panic,
scattering into the sky and fleeing from the scene.
By the Circle- what the HELL was that? She blinks rapidly,
staring at where she thought she heard the noise come from, gold
eyes widened in shock. Her heart was racing, fluttering in her
chest from the abrupt startle. It... almost sounded like an
explosion of some sort!
Forcing her lungs to breathe evenly, Azure stands for a moment,
mulling over what she should do. Should she investigate? She
knew she had a mission she should be focusing on, but... She
didn't know if something that bizarre should go unchecked. It
could be dangerous! What if someone was in trouble? She should
just check- just to make sure nothing was wrong. Just in case.
Maybe loud noises like that were normal here on Mobius?
Once the decision solidifies in her mind, the navy hedgehog
flicks out her wrist out towards the ocean. The sapphire gem
that protruded from her black cloak on her chest flashes
briefly, and she turns her palm upwards. Miraculously, the ocean
responds to her command and a ball of water the size of her fist
rises from the waves, zooming over to her side where it takes
the shape of a short sword. Then, she takes it in hand, sliding
it up her cloak sleeve so it was obscured from sight.
Just... in case.
Azure couldn't be too careful. She was on her own, and if she
took a fumble out here without any of her Sentinels to watch her
back...
She just couldn't take that risk.
And so, she starts walking towards where she thinks she heard
the noise come from, ears standing up at attention and her
quills spiking out defensively.
She prayed to Lunaria she wasn't about to walk into something
she would regret later.

Going into forest towards the sound she'd eventually find the
culprit, a tall and frail looking tiger knelt over a dead
critter as he seeming write something down in a book.
"Let's see, the weight and size was well above average for the
species," he muttered to himself and looked at the head,
"although... she might need some extra work before i attach her
to the plague and hang it on the wall."
Furthermore, he was wearing a rifle on his back, acting as
definitive proof that he had caused the loud noise... assuming
Azure knew what a gun was.
Even as she got closer there was no reaction from the hunter, he
was well and proper distracted with whatever he was writing
down.
"Hunt duration: 3 days. Weapon used: Hunting rifle," he
continued onward, "time until death: Instant."
All in all, he seemed pretty laid back about it all. For better
and worse.

As the navy hedgehog rounds a tree that flanked Anthony several
yards away, she almost jumps again as she's startled by the
sight of another mobian leaning over his kill. Cupping her hand
over her mouth, Azure quickly ducks back behind the tree with
her back pressed up against it, eyes wide staring ahead in
shock. Oh Lunaria... I hope he didn't see me.
Out of everything she expected to find, she certainly did not
expect to come across a mobian tiger with a freshly killed wild
deer. His quiet voice carried through the underbrush over to
her, calm and relaxed and clearly not bothered by the loud noise
she heard a moment ago. Did...he cause that noise?
Azure, as quietly as she could, peeks back out from behind the
tree a little bit, inspecting the tiger from where she was. He
didn't seem very aggressive, though if she were to just pop up
out of no where and demand an explanation- it could possibly
agitate him, and she didn't want that. She would have to go
about this calmly and gently if she wanted to investigate.
Ducking back behind the tree again, the navy hedgehog flicks her
wrist slightly, allowing the water sword she had created earlier
to morph so that it just coils up her arm comfortably and under
her sleeve, still hidden from sight. With a quiet, deep breath,
she reaches up and removes the hood from her head, allowing her
wild ombre quills to fall out. A mysterious hooded figure could
seem threatening to this mobian, after all.
"...Excuse me, sir?" She says, tone even and calm. She waits a
moment before slowly stepping out from behind the tree and
clasps her hands over her front. She smiles a little nervously,
ears flattened apologetically. "Sorry to bother you, I just so
happened to be walking through the area when I heard the most...
thunderous noise. Was that you...?"

Petrov's ears twitched as he stopped what he was doing and
looked in the direction of the new voice. Truth be told, he
hadn't expected others to be here or come looking when he fired.
He was usually gone by then. Guess that was what he got for
making assumptions. Still, the hedgehog seemed to be calm, if
not a bit nervous. So there was nothing to worry about after
all.
"Sir? What do you take me for? No need for that, i put the high
society stuff behind me a long time ago," he answered as he
pocketed his little logbook while looking a bit confused at her
question, "thunderous sound? You mean the gunfire? In that case,
yes that would be me and my trusty rifle here. Something wrong
with it?"

One could almost see the wheels turning in the navy hedgehog's
head as her eyes light up with recognition. She glances at the
rifle in question with a thoughtful expression on her face,
tilting her head a little, quills shifting on her shoulders
slightly.
Oh. Now she got it. That was a gun! She'd... read about those
types of weapons used here on Mobius in her studies back home.
She also recalled that these weapons were quite deadly.
"Oh! My apologies, I wasn't very sure what else to well, call
you..." She chuckles a little and rubs the back of her head,
having relaxed somewhat after seeing this fellow didn't seem
threatening. In fact, he seemed rather friendly...!
Azure straightens up a little again, ears pricking and her
apologetic smile not ever leaving her. "And there isn't any
problem- no. I was just a little startled since I uhm... don't
usually hear noises like that. It caught my curiosity I
suppose..."

"I see, you're not from around here then i take it," Petrov
guessed based on her reaction, it also made him chuckle, "and
don't worry about it. You got manners and that's something. You
can call me Petrov, it's what most people i know call me."
He then turned back to the deer and, with a fair bit of strain,
managed to pick it up and rest it across his shoulders.
"So, what brings you to these parts of Mobius?" he asked her
with a little sigh, he clearly wasn't the strongest around,
"looking for something specific?"

The navy hedgehog seems to stiffen slightly upon the observation
Petrov makes, but her expression remains calm and even.
"A pleasure to meet you, Petrov. My-... name is Azure" She
responds, only hesitating if just for a moment on saying her
name.
Well, she should of expected her obvious naivety about guns
would give her away somewhat. She was a little more than just
"not from around here" after all...
She watches Petrov lift the deer up with interest, wondering for
a moment if he would need any assistance with it. "I suppose you
could say that... I'm travelling to Mobotropolis, you see. But
I'm afraid I've somewhat lost my way... you wouldn't by any
chance happen to know how to get there from here, would you?"

"The feeling is mutual, Azure" Petrov assured her as he offered
to shake her hand, "and it'd appear you're in luck. I can help
you with that. I live in the outskirts, so i was heading home
anyway. I can show you the way if you want."
He couldn't deny that he was intrigued by this hedgehog, why was
she here and what was her reason for getting to the city? He
mentally rolled his eyes, he was either overly curious or
paranoid.
"So, what are you looking for in Mobotropolis?" he asked as he
started to walk towards the city.
