Laser Sightseeing [PM & Ask to join]

With the war won, many members of the Resistance returned to
their normal lives; repairing their livelihoods with assistance
from their comrades much like a tight knit family would. Yet,
for some, 'normal' wasn't as casual or as pedestrian as working
at a supermarket, fast food chain, law firm or what have you.
One such oddity in the mix was in the business of recollecting
something they were once in charge of scattering. Special items
stolen from a production line of a mysterious third party
affiliated with Eggman during the war. These items used the
Hyper-go-on power of the Wisps, entities from deep space that
Eggman once failed in an attempt to subjugate... With Sonic's
prior absence, well... He succeeded with some help of his own.
The rotund megalomaniac didn't account for such a strong
comeback from the good people of Mobius despite Sonic being out
of commission for a while. Among the Resistance there was an
enigmatic individual who proved instrumental in many
infiltration and stealth operations. The most notable
contribution being that he lead a special task force that freed
the Wisps and stole the incomplete plans related to the
experiments Eggman and his carton of cronies were working on,
allowing the cute little aliens to willingly align with the side
of good, providing their powers for the Wispon gadgets designed
by Tails and his R&D division after reviewing the stolen plans.
Now, with some modicum of free time, the mysterious items could
be retrieved and fully analyzed later. In the dead of night, he
secretly made his way to a remote location without being
followed, the Mobian clad in strange white combat armor awaited
a message from a friend. A set of coordinates were given, and
they could be on their way. Using a hidden stealth water-ski,
they made their way to an even further secluded location; a
seemingly abandonned island...
After a short while of travel, he disembarked, making touchdown
on the sandy beach. [shadow=white,left]"Now we wait."[/shadow]
He idly mused, turning to watch the full moon. With no city
lights for miles upon miles, the stars and beauty of space was
not stunted by light pollution, or fragments of Egg Carriers,
for that matter.

A blue object came shooting across the surface of the water
moving as fast as a rocket; it created waves as it carved a path
through the ocean straight to the sandy shores of the remote
island. However the object that looked like a rocket didn't
explode upon collision with the beach, no instead it stopped on
a dime revealing itself to be a blue hedgehog that was warily
looking around. Sonic had skidded to a stop leaving marks in the
sand after treading over the ocean; approaching the dead-drop
Sonic placed a steel suitcase on the ground, eyeing his contact
he placed his hands around his mouth and called out. "What's the
password! Let's do it......" He waited for the stranger to call
out the rest of the phrase to see if they were friend or foe.

Waiting didn't take very long; had the meeting been set up with
almost anyone else they would have taken at least forty minutes
or so. With Sonic on the other hand, it barely took anything
beyond four minutes. Super speed of that caliber truly did have
it's perks. Seeing the blue blur make a stylish entrance, his
speed smooth-glassing a good chunk of sand he arrived on;
Doubles couldn't help but smirk under his helmet. Hearing the
signal for the password, he added a bit of flare, striking a
somewhat goofy pose as he finished the phrase immediately after
Sonic, making it a seamless vocal transition.
[shadow=white,left]"—to it~!"[/shadow]
With a chuckle, he bowed slightly to Sonic in an otherwise
polite greeting. [shadow=white,left]"Tails encouraged that the
pose be struck, heheh~"[/shadow]

Sonic cringed seeing the dorky type of pose you'd only see
action figures placed in and shook his head while walking closer
holding out a steel case. "Tails, told you to do that? I think
it may be one of those laughing at you not with you type of
things." He smiled and pointed to his home behind them before
placing his hands on his hips. "I know you're into being all
secret agenty about this but it's cold out; would you like to
come in and we'll discuss whats going on? Can I get you a drink
maybe something to fill your gut? I make a pretty mean chilidog
if you're interested." Sonic's offer was warm and welcoming this
was a treatment he gave to anybody that Tails recommended. "Oh
and don't forget the goods, feel free to loose the helmet to. I
run a sweep of this place once a week, not a single spybot in
sight so old Buttnik won't crack onto what we're doing. So
you're the guy who helped procure the wisps we used during
Egghead's last attack? Those little critters pack quite the
punch; I'm quite fond of the cyan ones myself. Lemme tell you
there's no feeling like shooting through the stars like a laser.
I didn't catch your name dude, whats your handle?" Sonic asked
walking towards his place expecting the new friend to follow.

Doubles chuckled a fair bit after seeing Sonic's reaction. The
blue blur had a point. [shadow=white,left]"I can see that. I
would react in a similar manner if I was on the outside looking
in. Now what point is there to life if you can't laugh at your
own buffoonery?"[/shadow] He shrugged after imparting that
little nugget of wisdom and confidence. He nodded, accepting
Sonic's offer of a friendly chat. [shadow=white,left]"Sure,
might as well get you up to date on several things. I don't
often have things like chili-dogs. However it would be unwise to
not heed my curiosity considering your expertise regarding that
particular food item."[/shadow]
Momentarily excusing himself, Doubles moved to retrieve the
suitcase. [shadow=white,left]"Thank you. That is good to know.
At a cursory look around I did not find anything suspicious
myself."[/shadow] As he re-traced his path back over to Sonic,
Doubles' helmet began to fold back and click into itself;
revealing an interesting individual. The man under the helmet
showed very obvious features of two species; a bat and and a
raccoon. Each portion of his face that showed a majority of
either were coloured dark red and slate gray-blue respectively.
The middle of his face had the fur colours intersect in an
interlocking zigzag right down the middle. "Goes without saying.
I can't exactly eat through my helmet unfortunately." Doubles
smiled, his regular voice now heard instead of the helmet's
filter. "Indeed, that is regarded as my greatest contribution."
After a short pause, he continued to explain, motioning to the
suitcase for a second. "Ah yes, that would be the Laser
subspecies. We felt it was appropriate that the Laser Battery be
under your care until I was ready to retrieve it." With a nod,
he bowed slightly. "I go by Doubles. I don't have a mirror on
me, what do I look like right now?"

Sonic sped around the shack straightening up and preparing food,
he was an untraceable blue blur of progress and productivity. He
handed the stranger a plate as he looked upon his odd face that
seemed to resemble two species split down the middle. Sonic
found Double's appearance quite odd as to his knowledge most
mobians even ones born from interracial relationships ended up
as one animal from the parents side with the recessive species
giving some traits like fur color. Sonic tapped his foot and
held his chin pondering on an honest response before he said.
"Honestly dude, it looks like somebody sawed you in half and
sewed you together with another animal. Are you one of those
special cases where the DNA couldn't decide on a species so you
ended up somewhere in between?" True the hedgehog's answer was
blunt and rather forward but he meant no offense, Sonic was
never one to mince words and as such he often just spoke his
mind.

Doubles smirked as he— at least in some manner— perceived what
Sonic had done within the span of approximately two seconds at
most. The sand parted rapidly and short gusts of near enough
controlled wind and extra kinetic energy gave him a few
thoughts. Doubles made a note to one day point out these things
to Sonic. Since the blue blur was generally known for going and
more or less being fast, was there ever a point where he decided
to fine tune his speed beyond perhaps molecular vibration?
Doubles was intensely curious about this sort of thing; the
potential in others. Graciously accepting the plate and the food
upon it, he bowed slightly. "Thank you."
Patiently awaiting Sonic's response as to the nature of Doubles'
appearance; the half-and-half Mobian 'hybrid' let out a chuckle.
"Ahahah, not aesthetically inaccurate. I for one think it looks
kind of cool. T'is less about DNA though. My DNA is my DNA, it
has always been the same." Either way, that wasn't exactly what
Doubles had asked. "To be a tad more specific; what species can
you see? What colours of fur, that sort of thing? Now why on
Mobius would someone pose that sort of question? Surely there
was a mystery behind all of this, and this man was clearly
curious about what Sonic thought. Doubles was always a fan of
stimulating people's mental aptitude, after all.

Sonic raised an eyebrow at Double's answer pondering over it for
a second, he was an eccentric one wasn't he? Before too long the
blue hedgehog perched himself atop a stool running his hands
through his spines. "You want my honest answer I tend not to
focus on that sorta stuff. It's more the content of somebodies
character I'm interested in rather than what type of animal they
are. You could have fangs or feathers but if you've stepped up
when Mobius needed you against Robotnik you've got my respect. I
heard you rattled the old fat mans cage when he returned to
Planet Wisp; that's some nice work those little guys tend to
have a getting captured problem." Kicking his feet atop the
table he pointed to the fridge while giving an obnoxious yawn.
"I've already made myself comfy so if you want a drink to go
with that help yourself."

"Fair enough. A solid and grounded policy. I appreciate the
honesty behind it." With a bit of a cheeky smirk at the mention
of messing with old 'rotund mustachio'd baldy mcgee', as another
colleague would so flavorfully put it, Doubles nodded. "For a
man that overtly prides himself on a documented IQ of any level,
be it 90 or 300, he isn't very clever sometimes. One could have
all of the theoretical knowledge in the world... Yet, someone
with street smarts and personable charisma could still very
easily outplay them. We've been experiencing years of that being
true, have we not?" A small chuckle followed as Doubles silently
began to dig into the food that was provided. After politely
consuming a good chunk of chilidog, Doubles gave a nod of
approval. "Credit where credit is due, this is good." He added
before going ahead and finishing it off properly.

Sonic nodded in agreement while holding out a hand to emphasize
the statement. "What can I say? When you've got it, you've got
it." Taking a moment to rapidly snatch the plate from doubles
when he was done the blue hedgehog tossed it in the sink and
turned back to his guest. "Don't complement me it's an old
hedgehog family recipe, your praise should be going to my Uncle
Chuck nobody cooks em like he dose. So what brings you to
Casa-de-Sonic on this cold Tuesday night? Something about wisps
right? I've heard during the war effort the little guys have
been harnessed in some kind of weapons or something?" Sonic
never had much of an interest in weaponry because he tended to
have all the destructive power he could ever need within his
feet.
