What Secrets Lies Beneath The Nest

It was the following morning after Soul's encounter with the new
villain that he decided to drop by and report the incident. In a
quaint little apartment, the cyan hedgehog settled everything he
needed placing it in a small brown satchel, the broken remains
of Talon's mask and the datapad left by Dr. Kaw. Once everything
was prepared he left out. He first dropped by the bank to see
its condition, however, seems like it was still as it was
yesterday with police tape and barricades surrounding the area.
The hedgehog felt a little guilty that he wasn't able to nab the
criminal, but given this evidence, hopefully, they will be able
to catch this criminal soon. He left the bank following to Tails
workshop and report this incident to him. Arriving at the open
workshop, he knocked on the open door three times. "Uhh..excuse
me Tails... are you in here? he asked hoping the twin-tailed
fox was there.

The three knocks on the door would be met with a little
surprised squeak of a sound as Tails-- with a mouthful of
breakfast jumped up from his stool at one of his desks. He
seemed a bit surprised to have a guest so early but it was a
pleasant sort of surprise. Quickly he'd finish off the egg that
was currently in his mouth, before setting down his knife and
fork on the plate with what was left of his breakfast and then
scurrying over to the door to Soul. "Goodmorning! I'm here! Come
in, come in!" The fox would say cheerfully, opening up the door
even more so to invite the cyan hedgehog in. The fox did however
also notice the satchel that he had brought with him this time,
"It's good to see you again Soul! How're things with you? What
brings you here so early?"

Upon entering the hedgehog noticed the little breakfast plate
over by the side, he felt a little embarrassed, for someone who
was disturbing another one's morning breakfast. "Oh I-I'm sorry
am I disturbing? I can come by later" he apologized deeply at
the fox. The sound of the hedgehog's stomach gurgling echoed out
a bit, broke the tension or perhaps made it more embarrassing?
Seems like a certain someone hasn't quite eaten yet, rubbing the
back of his head shyly he apologized again "Whoops...Sorry about
that...hehe"He looked back at the fox, taking a deep breath
before saying "Oh well--I wanted to report to you about
something that had happened yesterday" he said as he held his
satchel.

"Oh no! You're alright! Company over breakfast is quite nice
actually" The fox would cover his mouth and stifle a little
giggle hearing the hedgehog's stomach rumble, "And by the sounds
of it, you could use some breakfast too, what would you like? I
don't mind cooking you up something while you're here!" The fox
paused for a moment on looking into getting more breakfast to
give Soul his attention while the hedgehog held onto his
satchel. The younger mobian glanced between Soul and the bag for
a moment before responding, "Oh, of course! Go ahead Soul, what
is it?" Even after the war had ended, the two tailed mobian had
been cautious of trouble arising again, from Eggman, Infinite or
other means, he hoped it wasn't that sort of trouble but was
glad the hedgehog trusted him enough to come to him for help
regardless.

"Oh I don't mean to impose but anything would do, thank you" he
said rubbing the back of his head shyly, as he hasn't been
invited to another friend's house before. He waited for a few
minutes before he was about to talk serious "I just witnessed a
robbery heist yesterday at Mobotropolis bank but these crooks
seemed like new ones--" he paused of for a while taking a seat,
placing the satchel down and brought out the mask and datapad
"--they were wearing this mask, or well this was all that
remained but look at the inside." flipping the mask over he
revealed to Tails the mechanical structure of the mask.
"They had this emblem on them, quite different from Eggman's
and they were lead by this--this-- Dr. Birdface--No" he paused
for a moment trying to recall the name "Dr--Featherbrain?? No
.C-C-Caw..thats it. Dr. Kaw because he kept cawing...sorry" he
said rubbing the back of his head. "Fortunately, the situation
was controlled, I along with the police managed to save a few
hostages but the doc still got away...leaving one of their own
behind and this datapad. We were hoping if it would be alright
to ask you help with the investigation, starting with these
two?" he asked the twin-tailed fox.

"Hey don't worry about it! It's really no trouble, say, how do
you like your eggs? I've got a lot of them left over so may as
well make you some!" The fox would wander over to a small fridge
in one corner of the workshop's room, pulling out a carton of
eggs before then closing the fridge door again, bringing them
back over before then listening to Soul explain the situation at
hand. "Hmmm.."
The fox would also take a seat at the same desk, moving aside
his breakfast and the eggs to get a good look at the mask and
datapad. As Soul showed, the inside of the mask had a mechanical
structure, how odd... He then looked to the emblem, it certainly
wasn't Eggman's emblem which was quite a relief but this meant
that in his absence, someone else was trying to rise up from the
rubble. The name of the person made Tails tilt his head a
little, quite the odd name although then again, Eggman wasn't
exactly the greatest or most terrifying name either. "Well I am
glad to hear things got controlled, and that some hostages were
saved, however this Kaw is still out there, we'll have to make
sure we get him behind bars where he belongs at some point" He
scratched lightly at the fur on his chin. When Soul then brought
up the datapad and that he was hoping for Tails' help, the fox
would smile "Of course! I'm always happy to help!" He would then
hold a hand out to the datapad, "Do you mind if I get a closer
look on these and do some tests on them? I'm sure we'll have
more information on this whole ordeal in no time!"

Noticing the kind offer of the twin-tailed fox to make breakfast
for him, he couldn't just say no and replied: "Oh
umm...scrambled please and thank you!" Once settled down he
talked with Tails a bit further about the incident.

Upon hearing those words Soul felt a little guilty, it was
partially his fault for not capturing him but what can he do now
but investigate. "Yeah you're right, sorry if I wasn't able to
catch him...but for sure we'll catch him and clip those wings
down" he said in reply. With Tails reaching for the datapad the
cyan hedgehog gave it to him, putting the info on the datapad
into Tails hands "Oh sure, here...perhaps there might be
something we could find about him too." He held up a hand to
his chin adding more to the explanation "Also it would appear
that this doctor uses other mobians as his test subjects, the
injured fellow behind as I mentioned came from a tribe hidden in
the waters...and it would appear the doc captured em for this
purpose...yet we still don't know why"

"Scrambled it is!" The fox would smile after Soul said how he'd
like his eggs, however he had to put up making the food for now
as they had much more important matters at hand right now.
"Don't worry! You did what you could and got these, we'll use
your efforts to track him down and lock him up, that's what
matters! May not of gotten him at the time, but we will in time"
Taking the datapad into his hands the young mobian began to look
it over while listening to Soul as he gave more of an
explanation. "Oh dear..." The fox rubbed a hand behind his head
hearing that this doctor used other mobians to test on including
that of a water tribe of mobians, "That's awful! We need to put
a stop to this guy as soon as we can to prevent him from hurting
anybody else with his tests, they couldn't of been for anything
good if he was forcing the tests on them" This bit of
information seemed to make the fox even more determined to crack
open the datapad for information, with his hacking skills in
hand, Tails would attempt at hacking into the datapad to get as
much information on this doctor that he possibly could, setting
the pad down on his desk as he did and while he was mostly
focused on this, he would glance up to Soul, "Do you think Kaw
has connections with Eggman maybe? Using mobians for tests
sounds like Eggman's kind of deal, then again it'd be kind of
odd for a mobian to be helping him of all people but... Well,
that's also not unheard of"

Seems like the food would have to wait, as they have many
matters to discuss. Disappointed at first, but a few little
words of encouragement from the twin-tailed fox was enough for
Soul to have confidence. With a smile on his face, he nodded his
head slightly as a greeting."He was like controlling them, and
they look skilled, deadly and were quick on their feet. As if my
attacks on them did no damage either" he added to describe the
Talons. "Was it through this thing?--" he asked looking at the
direction of the broken mask. Putting a hand on his chin he
would think for a moment to respond to Tails question "I don't
think so, he seemed to lose his feathers when I compared him to
Eggman. He doesn't like his intelligence to be stooped down to
Eggman..maybe...but its too early to assume that." As Tails was
trying to hack into the datapad, Soul would just look at it
intently as the fox was working.

Tails listened politely to the hedgehog as Soul explained more
about the situation, grateful that he was being so helpful and
providing as much information as he could about what went down.
"Thank you for all the information Soul! Sorry I'm keeping you
waiting on that breakfast" The description of the Talons was
rather odd, his attacks did no damage to them? Were they maybe
perhaps not even fully there? Like a hologram? "Hmmmmm" No
that'd be obvious, Soul would've picked up on that too. When the
hedgehog asked if it was perhaps the masks doing the fox would
put a hand to his chin "It could have been, or some sort of mind
or visual trick to try and make it seem like they didn't take
damage? It's quite the mystery, but we'll solve it"
When Soul answered the part about Eggman and if they were
possibly involved with him, it made Tails laugh a little "Oh
dear, well at least that's one clue, hopeful he's not working
with him and he's just some crook in need of a feather fluffing"
While trying to work out the datapad the fox would stick his
tongue out lightly during as though it helped him to
concentrate, after a couple more minutes passed the fox gave a
little jump as he finally managed to crack it. "I got it! I
got!" Eagerly he'd place the pad down on the workbench in a way
that he and Soul could both see. "Let's see here... Looks like
he's got three files on here" The fox would go for the first one
to start with, File: Alpha

Tails frowned slightly, while he managed to hack into the
datapad successfully, it seemed to recognize that they were not
who it belonged to and in response it began to block out key
words, while not convenient to them at all that it was doing
this, Tails was somewhat impressed with the technologies
capabilities and silently applauded the doctor for having this
option in his device. With Alpha all done, he went to the next
file and also began to read it. File: Beta

Again there was even more blanked out words then the last file
so while the datapad was cracked, they still had a mystery on
their hands to solve, the file probably made much more sense if
these blanked words were solved. With Beta finished, Tails then
moved onto the third and final file; File: Gamma

After taking a moment to take in all the information, Tails
spoke up, "Those explained a fair bit, especially about the
mask, looks like he was for sure dealing with mind control
schemes and the mask did just that for him. He also seems to
have a 'master' of some sort, so it doesn't seem like he's alone
in all of this, there also seemed to be a bit of a focus on
outfits at that last part there. This is all very.. Odd.." He
paused a moment before looking to Soul, "What do you think about
all of this?"
