Round 2: Standing In Sonic's Shadow (Shadow Only)

Sonic stood out along a running river in a vast open field, the
space was a wide clearing with trees either side and a lake
running through the center; small rocks also dotted the field
with a towering cliff side to the west. The blue hedgehog had
selected this location specifically for a grand battle to unfold
here. He raised a circular firearm into the air pulling the
trigger, a flaming shot whooshed into air before exploding
illuminating the night sky; the fireball had exploded into a
colorful display of fireworks, a storm of blue and white in the
shape of Sonic's face was chasing away the darkness. Admiring
his own visage in the starry sky he smirked tossing the flare
gun over his shoulder. After discarding the gun Sonic simply
stood looking out over the horizon as if waiting for something.
Tonight had all the perfect elements the sweet summer breeze and
the golden orb hanging in the sky was in full view. The
moonlight lit up the entire clearing, Sonic had selected so
limited visibility wouldn't be a factor.
"I've been dying to finish what we started before that green
tool showed up and got in our way." He thought to himself
glancing back up at the night sky.
"That has to catch his attention, nothing says bring it on like
shooting your face up into the stars. If I know that poser he
won't be able to resist and all the way out here there's nobody
to get in our way. It's time to show Shadow why they call ME The
Fastest Thing Alive!"

A not so tall, dark and brooding figure who could be easily
mistaken for Super Sonic's silhouette, stormed through the movie
theater entrance doors in a huff, "Pathetic, what a waste of my
time" Shadow spent the evening hours catching a movie about two
people wearing pajamas in capes duking it out based on different
philosophies of justice, at least that is what Shadow is hoping
for. Turns out the plot is messy and the only reason the two
people in pajamas stopped fighting is because their mother's
first name starts with the letter M.
Its frustrating to know he couldn't get two hours and thirty
minutes worth of his life back, next time he will avoid the
trailers and keep his expectations low. Shorty after the sky
illuminated by colorful fireworks that evolved into Sonic's
face, grabbing Shadow's attention. "That faker's ego is getting
out of hand, its time I put him in his place once and for all"
he activated Chaos Control teleporting to Sonic's location. A
part of him is glad his rival flared up a signal, he needed to
blow off steam after watching the equivalent of garbage.
He reappeared behind Sonic a reasonable distance, arms folded
per usual. "You couldn't go through one day without reminding
everyone how great you are" he spoke.

Sonic turned smiling while holding out his arms gesturing
towards the battlefield he'd chosen. "Hey it's not bragging when
you can back it up. Besides you and I have unfinished business.
What do you think of our battleground? There's plenty of room to
cut loose out here and best of all the girls won't get in our
way. Our battle will be glorious, the forces of black and blue
going head to head, only this time raw and untamed, no holding
back."
Sonic got down into a starting position placing his hands
against the ground while arching his back, bending his sneakers
as he stood on the tips of hos toes. An alarming amount of
static electricity started to build up around Sonic as lightning
shot through his eyes signifying this power was traveling to
every atom in his body. His rough and raspy voice called out
while gnashing his teeth. "I'm going to ruin you, like that
movie studio ruined that new hero flick." Without warning Sonic
shot off utterly annihilating the sound barrier letting off a
deafening Sonic boom. Starting off the battle by hitting hard
the blue blur raises his fist channeling a large amount of
electrical energy into it, he swung for Shadow's gut intending
of a combination of both winding and shocking his opponent.

Shadow remained focused and stationary, never taking his eyes
off the target "Fitting, this battleground will contain your
humiliation blue boy" he continued to idle in place listening to
his nemesis ramble on about a grand battle between the two
champions of mobius with no more distractions, a settlement he
couldn't agree more. Shadow has grown rather tired of his s.hit
as there can only be one mighty warrior of the land.
Sonic began the duel using a move the dark hedgehog seen a
bajilion of times, the search for the right opportunity to
counterattack is imminent. While he could simply mimic faker's
actions, its time to shake things up a notch. Shadow created a
violet time aura hue around his right arm, catching Sonic's
lightning charged fist, gritting his teeth the pain of
electricity traveling through his body is unbearable. Sonic
bringing up that godawful hero film net his blood to boil, He
mustered enough willpower to throw Sonic, he swerves to the left
of Sonic, attempting to strike using a mix of a kick, punch and
a shoulder charge using his air shoes to give him a boost.
"That movie pissed me off!" he spat.

While Shadow managed to kick him in the gut Sonic caught his
fist and lowered his hand giving a smug smirk. "Yeah that movie
really sucked, I mean I've seen stinkers but this thing was like
the time Eggman dropped a payload on the city; it wasn't pretty
for anybody and we had to suffer the consequences." Still having
Shadow's hand he spun around rapidly in a circular motion before
letting go and tossing Shadow towards the cliff; if Sonic's plan
had worked Shadow would have hit the rocky wall and some of the
large rocks above would fall on him if he wasn't quick enough to
react. Sonic himself flipped backwards after the spin and revved
up into a spindash before shooting off towards Shadow already
barreling towards the black and red imposter.

Sonic yield the same idea to lure his dark look-alike into a
grapple maneuver, his version spun Shadow's world round and
round, the knowledge of chaos control in that moment is now
foreign to him. The black hedgehog soon tasted dirt on the
ground, scarlet eyes turned into swirls and stars, thank chaos
it was only temporary as fate is prepering Shadow to brace for
impending doom.
"!!" The impact influenced the cliffside to discard a number of
rocks burying the brooding pincushion, so far no activity is
happening in this situation, has Sonic finally defeatd his black
counterpart? A flash of blue light flickered and Shadow
reappeared into the scene, covered in dirt, turns out he still
has enough fight left in him, he isnt too happy about that
however.
Sonic's spin dash approaching, getting larger in his sight,
Shadow gathered up chaos energy to prepare a counter attack, he
fired a Chaos Spear under quick relfexes hoping to dish out much
needed pain against his arch rival. "Enough about that piece of
junk, its time for me to break your fantasy Sonic, for too long
you've been living the good life, you've became spoiled for your
own good!" he revealed why he dislike Sonic as a whole, it
frustrated him to know both of them contributed into saving the
world countless times yet Shadow is the one being viewed as a
pale imitation of Sonic making it difficult for him to establish
his own identity, and treated as if he's a horrible monster. It
isnt fair!
Whether or not Chaos Spear succeeded in hitting Sonic or not, he
continues the offense attempting to strike with a teleporting
spin dash against his opponent.

The chaos spear was aimed true as it had managed to pierce
Sonic's leg; Sonic buckled over in pain his eyes growing wide
with pain and anguish. He grasped the projectile made from
crackling chaos energy in an attempt to pull it from his leg
only for Shadow to come crashing into him, sending sonic rolling
across the vast green field. When Sonic had finally rolled to a
stop he grit his teeth and swiftly pulled the spear from his
leg; blood started to rapidly piss out of the wound causing
Sonic to feel light headed. He picked up the chaos spear and ran
a current through his hand causing the chaos energy to begin
crackling with a deadly high voltage of electrical energy.
Without a second thought Sonic tossed the surging spear towards
Shadow in hopes of adding some extra sting to the same pain
Shadow had just caused him. Taking advantage of the fact Shadow
was at a range Sonic sped up the vibrations in his leg focusing
on closing the wound; the healing process was sped up
exceptionally causing the skin to seal up. "That'll stop me from
dying of blood loss but the muscles are still messed up. I've
got to end this quickly." He told himself while he struggled to
stand.

Shadow towered over his rival in triumph, he always knew he was
the superior of the two combatants, no matter how fast Sonic
ran, the limits of time and space are immeasurable. "that's
checkmate slowpoke" Intending to finish this battle quickly he
formed another chaos spear in hand, this time crushing the arrow
shaped projectile into raw energy that surged through his arm.
Shadow is preparing to punch the lights out of Sonic with his
energy powered fist until the blue bastard yanked the previous
chaos spear from his leg and jabs it through Shadow's wide open
chest.
Ouch!
"Aaargh!" he stepped backwards to discover his own attack is
mere inches from taking his life, had it shot through the middle
he most likely would've been dead. In all of his years of using
chaos powers to inflict pain against his enemies he has never
been on the receiving end of such power. Now he knows how they
feel..
Shadow squeezed the projectile to disperse it away, covering a
big wound on the abdomen, he remained focused on Sonic to allow
his healing factor to fix the the injury, this is due to the
chaos energy flowing through his veins. He isn't entirely healed
to one hundred percent, his stomach still sore from the impact,
Shadow will have to bear with it until the battle is over. The
onyx colored doppelganger charged towards Sonic attempting to
knock the wind out of him with a shoulder bash, he would follow
this with chaos infused hook punches and a crescent moon kick if
the assault is successful.

The two hedgehogs came to blows after both surviving near fatal
attacks; as they clashed in a storm of black and as blue ripples
of distortion and wild streaks of electricity exploded into the
air. Sonic met Shadow blow for blow and punch for punch as each
attack collided head on canceling each other out. Both were
pushing beyond their limits despite the fact they both should
have passed out after those last attacks. "Give it up Shadow!
You can't beat me because I know what it's like to work hard for
my powers; you were just slammed together in a lab with all your
fancy tricks built in. I earned where I am today and I'm not
going to let some lazy poser like you take that away from me!
You may be immortal but the candle that burns half as long burns
twice as bright! That's why as long as I'm alive you'll always
be in my Shadow." Sonic smiled pushing Shadow back before
donning a devilish grin. "Maybe eighty years from now when I
finally bite it, you'll know what it's like to be a real hero
but until then the world is my stage." Sonic declared proudly as
he reached into his glove and pulled out a power ring. Holding
the golden circlet skyward Sonic became engulfed in a storm of
radiant energy as he channeled the rings power into his own
body. Feeling a newfound strength Sonic blasted forward in an
attempt to flatten Shadow where he stood.

Lazy!? if the obsidian hedgehog has to compare Sonic's boasting
speech to something, it will be rotten food. Like certain meals
you need specific ingredients to make it delicious, if left
uncheck it goes bad, Sonic's boundless ego is no exception. To
make the equivalent of vomit you need a cup of holier than thou
and a tablespoon of ignorance, it made Shadow sick to his
stomach having to listen more of his bullshit, where does he get
off telling him he didn't work hard for anything!?
So what if he is created with time bending powers? That doesn't
mean he isn't working hard, he is doing his best to earn
people's respect and carrying out a wish he swore to
keep....with slow progress. Hell if anything being too powerful
is what ruined his life in the first place. He couldn't wait to
teach this annoying prick a lesson he will never forget, that is
until Sonic busted out one of those power rings of his to turn
the tables.
Oh for Chaos sakes..!
Shadow had no choice but to remove all of his limiter rings,
gaining a power boost to rival Sonic's newfound power, the
ultimate test of his abilities. He dashed off towards his blue
counterpart, colliding head on with the other hedgehog, the
impacted is so great it disintegrated their battlefield. The
surge of unstable energy brightens the sky, pulsating brighter
and brighter to the heavens until it dissipated. Shadow felt his
power weakening, aware of releasing his true power can be taxing
on the body.
"That was a cheap.....shot..." he toppled over and passed out,
limiter rings scattered around his unconsciousness body.
