[Historic District] Tourist Trap

Lukas pushed his thoughts of recent events out of his mind as he
made his way to the older parts of the city. The buildings stood
shorter and the streets more narrow indicating they had been
constructed long ago. Built by hand out of stone and mortar
rather than the steel and glass of the newer areas of
Mobotropolis. He took note of various monuments and statues
doting the streets, testaments to heroes long since past,
leaders who haven't ruled in centuries, and battles fought
against enemies time has all but forgotten. The wolf from
Weissland wandered his way over to a statue of an old king and
read over the plaque at it's base, unable to stop himself from
being enthralled by this Kingdoms history but also finding that
just reading about events and looking at monuments was not quite
as informative as he would hope. He wanted to learn what made
this Kingdom to different from all the others. Perhaps it would
do him some good to get a local's opinion.

The old rundown part of Mobortopolis was home to those that
couldn't live in the upper parts of town. While the rich and
fancy had their high tech and expensive toys, The old ruins had
seen better days. The old dust that would push up from time to
time as the wind blew by. The uncanny sound of old window frames
hitting the side of walls and the old faint smell of old could
tell you that you were in the lower parts of town. This place
was also home to the most unlikely of thugs and criminals. The
only reason people would be in this part of town was because of
two things.
First reason being nobody really cared for what was going to
this part of town as they were busy fixing things from Eggman's
last attack when he took over the world. And the second
reason....to avoid the watchful eyes of any would be heroes or
the resistance army that still protects the town when Sonic
isn't around.
One such wolf was in this part of town for that particular
reason. Blaze had been following reports for awhile now about
random attacks that happen in this part of town. Being a former
member of the resistance, he took up his job of being a bounty
hunter. He wasn't in it for the money and he could have just
took up being a big hero like Sonic. Heck he was one of those
few who helped bust him out from the death egg but he choose the
simple life. And now he stood at the foot of the old ruins of
Mobotropolis old town district.
The young hunter gave a small sigh as a bit of flame escaped his
lips as he took a look around. The place had seen better days.
He began his walk through the alleyways until he reached an
opening where someone stood. Another wolf who seemed deep in
thought.
With a small step, he announced his presence. " Taking in the
sights i see.... Mind if i hang around?" he asked with his
hands in his pockets.

Lukas was at first caught off guard by the sound of the other
wolf's voice, having been too engrossed with his little history
lesson to have heard Blaze approaching. "Ja, ich nehme an, du
kannst rumhängen." Lukas replied instinctively before realizing
that he had again made the mistake of replying in the wrong
language. "I'm sorry, what I meant was, yeah, I suppose you can
hang around." He said visibly embarrassed as he corrected and
kicked himself mentally.

Blaze raised an eyebrow as well as tilting his head to the side.
What on mobius was that language? He had never heard that
language spoken before but given all the plces he has been that
shouldn't have surprised him the way it did. He simply put on a
friendly face before taking a seat on a old bench not too far
from them.
" That's quite the language you got. Never heard it before. I
take it you're from somewhere else." he replied as he sat back a
bit.

"Yes I'm from a kingdom called Weissland, I've only been in
Mobotropolis for less than a week." Lukas explained as he
stepped away from the statue he had been examining and joined
Blaze on the bench. "What about you, are you from around here?"
Lukas asked in an attempt to make polite small talk with this
stranger.

" Yeah you can say that.....i've been around for a few months
and whatnot helping out where i can. Without Eggman gone and
dealt with, it's been quite peaceful around here. Well as
peaceful as it can be anyways. " he replied before leaning back
in his seat a little to get more relaxed. " I'm Blaze by the
way. Weissland? Never heard of it. What's it like?" he asked.

Lukas couldn't help but chuckle, this was the first time someone
in this city had inquired about his homeland. The only trouble
would be deciding on where to begin. "My name is Lukas,
Weissland is in a lot of ways not too different from the Kingdom
of Acorn. We are a Monarchy, but the King has more power, and we
are much more militant and we take great pride in our Guard."
Lukas said beaming as he pointed out the insignia on his coat
sleeve as well as the badge pressed into the stock of his laser
rifle. Lukas admired these symbols of his home at first with
obvious pride, but that expression quickly soured to a more
somber one. "I worry that my people's iron will and militant
nature will be our own destruction. The newest King is a weak,
spoiled child. He spends his time with lavish parties instead of
leading his ravaged Empire."

Blaze sat quietly as he listened to Lukas talk about his
homeland. So they were like a military based society? He
wondered if they were always like that so he decided to ask. "
Why were you guys formed into a military based society? Was it
to protect yourselves from Eggman or was it something more?" he
asked as he tilted his head a bit.

"In recent years yes, we focused our Army on fighting Eggman,
but before he became the menace of the world we had aspirations
of our own empire. We fought for generations to unite dozens of
tribes and smaller kingdoms into one unified Weissland. And then
we turned to expanding into the territory of our neighbors and
trying to colonize the more wild, unsettled parts of the world."
Lukas explained as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck.
"Those days are nearly a century behind us, many people still
hold grudges. My people try to put those days behind us and
focus our military ambitions on destroying Eggman." He continued
to explain before realizing that he was going on and on about
himself but knew very little of his new friend. "What about you?
Tell me some about where you come from."

Blaze simply listened to Lukas as he talked about his people.
The way they sounded almost worried the wolf for a moment before
Lukas continued on and told him how that part of his people sort
of died off in a way. He mentioned that a few held grudges which
was understandable seeing as not everyone cn change. It could
take days, weeks, months and maybe even years. That was just the
way things were. He was then asked about his home to whih Blaze
sat back as he stared up at the sky.
" Where do i come from? Well before i came here, I lived on a
small island called Sunset Haven. There my people were trained
in the art of elemental powers. For example...my power is to
control fire. " he replied as he held out hi hand and a fireball
appeared. he bounced it up and down before cancelling the fire
out. " My people had different elemental powers but they mostly
stayed to themselves. Some of us adventured out into the world
because we felt we could do good with our powers. Others choose
to stay because they believed we were safe so long as we stayed
on the island. " he replied.
