Sonya's Romantic Revelation
By: Sonic Date: March 22, 2018, 8:48 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Back in the city couples were exchanging presents, getting
dressed up to go on dates and watching mushy movies; wanting a
break from the whole affair of Valentines Day, Sonic had gotten
up early and left the city for a day of relaxing by the old
fishing hole. The area he picked was a small peaceful pond by
the mountains in the woods. Sonic sat beside a rocky outcrop
watching the morning sunrise with a small smile. His deep blue
eyes gazed out over the horizon; the rising sun causing the
surface of the water to glitter like a sea of gems. He swung his
feet slowly kicking them against the rocks loosening any dirt or
gravel caught within his stylish sneakers, before kicking them
off and dipping his toes in the pond before him. The hero lay
back placing his arms behind his head enjoying the peace, quiet
and no word from The Resistance, his friends and luckily he got
up early enough to avoid Amy.
He scratched the wound upon his right ear as he closed his eyes
loosing himself in the sounds of the forest. "Ahhhh now this is
the life. Away from all those annoying little problems." He
thought to himself as he inhaled partaking of the sweet mountain
air. Pulling back the cuff of his glove revealed a wrist mounted
communicator, the blue hedgehog selected the music tab on the
device and it started playing old rock music. He bobbed his head
listening to the tunes all while donning a cocky grin. "Nothing
could ruin this day. It's just me, my rod and these fish." He
thought to himself as he cast his line into the water keeping
one eye open to track it's progress. He was finally alone
however fate had a strange way of roping Sonic into new
situations the second he starts relaxing.

[i] This was going to be her year.
Sure this was something she pep talked herself into every year.
But this year she was actually going to do it, she was going to
give Sonic a valentines day present. Because that's totally what
platonic friends did, on a day dedicated to romance and all
things pure, sweet, and lovely, oh boy she was loosing track
again. The point being was that she'd bottled out of giving him
every gift she'd ever come up with, but this time things were
going to be different. After all like Sally often said, the only
thing thing that was really to be feared about fear, was fear
itself. She needed to fennec up, and try not make a complete
idiot out of herself for a change, how hard could it really be
to talk to the hedgehog normally?
All she had to do was find him, present her gift, and engage
with one complete sentence, piece of cake.
Dressed in skin tight white leggings, a baby blue tank top, and
trainers, it wasn't amiss that she didn't exactly look dressed
the part for a romantic interaction. Not that she was expecting
anything of the kind, after all assumptions only led to to
cringe worthy results. Sliding the carefully wrapped tissue
paper present into her back pocket, and safely out sight, she
set off, having miraculously earned a full half a day off, her
adopted father had barely finished his latest lecture, before
she'd been out the door. Between the couples that sat round
sharing ice cream cones, exchanging gifts, or just contently
reminiscing, there was just something about Valentines Day that
got her spirits up. The holiday itself had always made her feel
like anything could happen. Which in its own right was
incredibly cliche, but what could she say, she was a romantic
through and through.
Already knowing that the blue hedgehog in question wouldn't have
hung around for long on today of all days, it took Sonya a few
sturdy minutes of brain storming, to pinpoint exactly where he'd
be hiding. An excited grin spreading across her lips, she took
off in the direction of the forest, not slowing pace, until the
city were just a blurr behind her. Her run winding down to jog,
and then a stop, the female paused, wondering if she'd been
maybe more than hasty this time, taking off into the middle of
no where, with only a VAGUE idea of where her crush actually
was. Her ever effective hearing kicking in, her large ears
suddenly started twitching simultaneously, at the sound of rock
music that was all to familiar..
Following her new lead, the female found herself coming across
the peaceful looking clearing, and the very hedgehog she'd been
so looking forward to finding since she woke up this morning.
Her entire expression lighting up, Sonya opened her mouth to
speak, only to close it again a split second after. This wasn't
fair, it was obvious that Sonic had come out here to escape the
pressures of reality, and whether she liked it or not, that
included her to. She couldn't just disturb him like this. Ears
half flattening, the female edged herself very quietly towards
the relaxing blue furred one, placing her gift soundlessly by
his side, a stainless steel bracelet, with a simplistic yet
meaningful inscription.
"No matter how negatively you think of yourself short term,in
the long run you will always be my hero, Happy Valentines Day."
Backing away, as stealthily as her skills would allow, she
mentally crossed her fingers. Only half regretting that she
hadn't bothered to sign her name on the inscription, she took a
more leisurely wander back towards the city, taking the time to
really take in the tranquil scenery around her, her spirits
lifting a little. Maybe him not knowing was for the best,
besides if anything her valentines gift was probably one among
many, he'd have no reason to think of it as anything other than
another fan girl plea, and as much as that thought sadden her,
it made more sense for things to play out that way. She just
wasn't a mobian that got noticed outside of her doctors uniform
after all.
Tears rolling unexpectedly down her soft cheeks, she focused on
putting one foot in front of the other, not stopping until she
was home, her ears drooping, at her own cowardice, she sat
herself on a near by bench, gazing wearily out into the
distance, her fingertips absentmindedly snagging a blue rose off
a bush, in close range her fingertips plucking gently at one
petal at a time.
"Happy Valentines Day to me.. "

Little did Sonya know Sonic had watched the whole thing unfold,
he was keeping one eye open for fish after all and she made
quite the unexpected catch. He looked over the bracelet with a
sincere smile running his fingers over the inscription. Her
encouraging quote did not go unnoticed she said something
similar to him in hospital. Watching her trail off in tears
Sonic rushed after and the rest, well let's just say not even
Sonic The Hedgehog could outrun love. In a rush of blue wind
Sonic swept the medic off her feet, in a blur she found herself
back at the fishing hole; she was sitting by the water with a
fishing pole in her hands. If she were to look up she'd see she
was in Sonic's lap with his hands wrapped around hers both
holding onto the rod. The water was calm and still totally
unlike the fox's racing heart, Sonic smiled and whispered into
her ear. "Happy Valentines Day." He didn't say much else as he
didn't want to scare the fish or ruin the moment, that would
likely come from the stammering Sonya soon after.

[i] It was all just as perfect as she'd ever imagined spending
quality time with Sonic would be. Between the calm of the
solitude, the smell of freshly cut grass in the air, there
wasn't anywhere else she'd rather be in that moment, and oddly
enough, for being so close to him, she wasn't as nervous as she
thought she would be, yes her heart was racing, but in a fixed
fizzy anticipation way, she wasn't freaking out, being sat in
his lap, just felt natural, it felt right, like two jigsaw
pieces slotting together so to speak. Her cheeks unknowingly
turning a deep shade of pink, from his murmuring in her ear, she
let a smile tug at the edges of her lips, as she settled back
against him her irises remaining fixed on the water in front of
them, she didn't know what to say, figures the perfect scenario
was playing out, the way she'd always wanted it to, and she was
speechless. Well speechless for a few minutes, while she
gathered her thoughts.
".. I can safely say this beats eating Ben and Jerrys by myself
that's for sure."
Ah yes, defuse nerves, with an unfunny joke, she'd got the
unfunny part down.

Sonic smiled at her terrible joke only causing him to squeeze
her tighter before resting his head atop hers. Feeling father
romantic Sonic ran his fingers over hers before intertwining
them. "The inscription on the present was very sweet. You were
the only one I could be open up to about what happened aboard
the death egg. When I'm around you it's like things just click
yanno?" Suddenly they were interrupted by a tug on the line, it
seems they had a bite. Not wasting any time Sonic guided her
hands to the reel and furiously made a circular motion. The fish
turned out to be no match for their combined grip being reeled
in easily. What they had reeled in was a large salmon, Sonic
stood gently placing Sonya on her feet before proceeding to
remove the hook and throw the scaly critter back. As the salmon
hit the water it splashed down quickly rushing back into the
depths after a terrifying experience.
Setting the fishing pole down he walked over to the medic
placing a finger under chin causing her gaze to rise and meet
with his own. When their eyes met Sonic spoke, his raspy tone
holding sincere affection. "Forget the ice-cream, your lips are
the only sweet thing I want to taste today. But of course
there's the ol ladies first." Sonic told her stopping his
actions to stare more deeply into her eyes. It appears he wanted
Sonya to take the lead to make her more comfortable.

[i] She knew that something wasn’t right, call it instinct, call
it sixth sense, everything was just so right, it was all exactly
how she’d pictured it, there was even an unlikelyness that they
were going to be disturbed anytime soon, she wasn’t going to
press the big red exit button yet, she wasn’t ready, at the very
least she was going to try and enjoy whatever was going on for
at least awhile longer. And in order to do that, that meant
stalling the obvious as much as she can.
Naturally it didn’t take long for their scene of choice to
change, the clear crisp planes of the mountains giving way to
somewhere that appeared way more rough around the edges, a rag
tag bar to be precise, complete with spit buckets, and over
priced arcade games, she’d been more hopeful for a dance class,
but she wasn’t going to be picky under the circumstances.
Sipping a colourful drink, that had somehow appeared out of no
where, she carefully decided to pick up where they left off on
conversation.
“I’m glad you feel comfortable enough opening up to me, i mean
it goes without saying that you really scared me whilst you were
recovering and all.. “

Sonic shifted with the scene now wearing a sports jacket leaning
against the bar. "Yeah, I wanted to make it up to you, so I
figured a date at the local watering hole wasn't out of he
question. Besides you're not a cold bitch like Sally and your
certainly more of a catch than Crazy Amy." The relaxed hero
walked closer, using his fingers to gently brush her bangs out
of her eyes. He leaned in for a kiss but stopped just shy of
making contact; out of the corner of his eye he spied an old
arcade cabinet from his youth.
Getting excited he rushed past Sonya zipping over to the
flashing machine, he dashed over so quickly it made a mess of
Sonya’s hair that was oddly more perfectly styled tonight than
most other days. Sliding a coin into the slot the game made the
start up jingle and Sonic keenly took the joystick and started
playing using his free hand beckoning for Sonya to come over.
“Hey over here! Bring coins, I love this game.” She was about to
get a kiss and now a blinking box distracted him, boys loved
their games; if Sonya wanted to share a more intimate moment the
video games would need to leave.

[i] Ignoring the urge to run her fingertips along his collar,
the female flashed an uncharacteristically confident smile his
way, dressed in nothing much beyond a strapless leather mini
dress that stopped just above her knees, ankle boots, and a mini
leather crop jacket to complete the look.
“You sure have a way of making things up to a lady now don’t
you? the watering hole date while creative was totally
unexpected coming from you blue.”
“Sonic ..”
Her tone edged with warning, as a reminder for him to mind his
manners when speaking about Sally, although she secretly agreed
with the Amy opinion, not that she was going to say so outright.
Her heart practically leaping out of her chest, it was a stroke
of luck, that he got distracted at the last moment.
Letting out of a fond laugh, she wandered over to his side, a
chunky bag of coins settling readily in one of her palms, again
how they got there was anyones guess.
“I better win some sort of prize out of this claw machine
marathon!”
Only half joking, she stood close by his side, trying to be
careful not to get to comfortable.

Hearing her tone oddly cause Sonic to drop the Sally line of
conversation all together, holding up his hands as if to say,
okay okay! Sonic couldn't wait to try and get some kind of prize
using the crane game. When Sonic's date dropped a bag of coins
on the counter his eyes sparkled with delight; he was going to
get so many games with this. A few moments passed Sonic had
tried six or seven times and been unsuccessful at winning a toy.
Snapping his fingers he got a bright idea placing Sonya's hand
on the joystick before wrapping his around hers; he inserted
another coin and the game began. Sonic used his hand to guide
the tiny fox's towards their goal, both pressing the button the
claw slowly reached down scooping up a colorful plush toy. The
crane lifted the toy dangling it over the prize slot however
when it fell the toy hit the glass barrier landing back in the
machine instead of the prize slot.
Biting his lower lip in frustration the blue hedgehog wore a
look of annoyance while he started to speed up the vibrations of
his molecules causing his entire arm to blur and distort: he
reached into the machine his arm phasing right through it
pulling the toy they should have won out. Slowing down the speed
of his vibrations his arm returned to normal holding a pink
rabbit plushy. He smiled holding out the toy offering it while
commenting on the game. "These machines are always rigged but I
have my ways of dealing with them, just gotta have that ol Sonic
touch." When she went to grab the teddy he quickly pulled it
behind his back and offered a cheeky smile. "Doc, Seeing you
wearing a dress like that there's no way I'm giving you your
prize until I get mine." He told his date holding the toy out of
reach closing his eyes Sonya knowing full well what he wanted.

[i] As tempting as the thought of leaning in to give him a
smooch was, the cocequence niggled in the back of her mind
somewhere, which is how they came to an extremely appropriate
scene change, music coming from all stalls, offers of food and
cotton candy apparently limitless here, there was no better
place to keep things chill than an amusement park, complete with
rollercoasters high enough to satisfy even Sonics adrenaline
rush.
Dressed in something only slightly more conservative, this time
she donned a boobtube strapless dark blue mini dress, sunglasses
propped effortlessly on her head, and sandals.
The crowds being quite thick, the female did her best to try and
wedged to the hedgehogs side, her tone increasingly playful by
the minute.
“Sonic you are not dragging me on any of those really high ones
i’m telling you now!”
