Sonic's R&R

Sonic sat atop a rocky outcrop watching the morning sunrise with
a small smile. His deep blue eyes gazed out over the horizon;
the rising sun causing the surface of the water to glitter like
a sea of gems. He swung his feet slowly kicking them against the
rocks loosening any dirt or gravel caught within his stylish
sneakers. The hero lay back placing his arms behind his head
enjoying the peace, quiet and no word from The Resistance. Sonic
enjoyed playing the hero but he preferred to do it alone and
didn't relish the fact he messed up and had be rescued last
time. He scratched the wound upon his right ear as he closed his
eyes loosing himself in the sounds of the crashing ocean below.
"Ahhhh now this is the life. Away from all those annoying
wannabes in The Resistance. Sure they helped out but I like to
work alone, other people just slow me down." He thought to
himself as he inhaled partaking of the sweet sea air. Pulling
back the cuff of his glove revealed a wrist mounted
communicator, the blue hedgehog selected the music tab on the
device and it started playing old rock music. He bobbed his head
listening to the tunes all while donning a cocky grin. "Nothing
could ruin this day. I'm about a million miles from any city."
He thought, however fate had a strange way of roping Sonic into
new situations the second he starts relaxing.

"Heads up!"
A thick stream of water flies over Sonic and lands with a big
splash not far from where Sonic was currently sitting promptly
before an orange hedgehog with a black and light blue/azure wet
suit come hurrying by, coming to a halt next to him.
"Sorry about that, dude. 'Just practicing some tricks before I
kinda, uh...lost control..." She trailed off, awkwardly rubbing
her hand behind her head. After all, looking back on her
performance during the Resistance, her part could be seen as
rather lacking since her powers had just come into manifestation
only a couple or so years beforehand when she hit puberty. Now
that things have settled down more, might as well practice until
made (eventually) perfect!
Pulling herself back from the painful pause, the teenage
hedgehog shifted her wait with her eyes widening. "Oh wait,
aren't you the Sonic the Hedgehog? Ack--That's so cool!" The
girl gestured wildly in excitement. "I never thought I'd
actually get to meet you. I was waaaaayyyy in the back of that
army, heh. You were just a little blue dot out in the distance
in front of that Infinite guy."

The freezing cold water splashed the hedgehog jolting him awake
and causing him to flip to his feet as if he were being
attacked, he took a defensive stance dropping it not long after
spotting the orange girl before him. Sopping wet his ears
drooped down and fur was soaked he stood with his arms crossed
tapping his foot overly annoyed. He was getting ready to chew
the rookie out before he noticed the complements he was being
paid. "Yeah it's all true." He said striking a heroic pose still
a sopping wet mess. "Sonic at your service, fastest thing alive,
greatest hero In the World and let's not forget devilishly
handsome." Sonic was quick to push his rage aside from a chance
to gloat. "So you we're part of The Resistance huh? Not that a
like reliving it but you guys saved my bacon after
Infinite.....well let's not talk about that." He said donning a
deeply annoyed look before shaking himself dry like a dog. "So
you're a hydromancer huh? Explains why you're practicing at the
beach. Do me a solid kid and next time keep the water away from
me huh? I can't stand the stuff." He said reaching into his
pockets producing a marker and a headshot. "Lemme guess you came
all the way out here for an autograph? Well I hate to disappoint
my fans. You got a name?" He asked with stars sparkling in his
eyes, something about signing autographs really got Sonic pumped
up.

Rambling on, the poor girl was so distracted she didn't realize
that her inspiration was still currently drenched in water, but
after him drying himself she bobbed her head up and down to
answer his question. "Yessiree! I was trying to practice some
more out here, but I didn't realize you were also close by.
Sorry about that..." Biting the bottom side of her lower lip,
she fidgeted around herself to find the pocket of empty space
and, thus, a pen and small notebook, and the smile was back. "I
would looooove an autograph! I mean, I'm probably no different
from anybody else, but you are kinda my role model," she paused
before perking up at his last question, blushing timidly. "Oh!
Uh...my name is Umi, by the way, heh."
Handing him the pen, Umi the Hedgehog leaned in forward, going
around him to peer around his shoulder at what he was going to
sign. "So...what are you out here for? Just enjoying the view or
waiting for someone else to save?"

Sonic noticed Umi getting flustered and gave a smug smirk.
"Chill, I have that effect on people. While I like the fame
don't act so nervous. You picked a good role model Umi." The
hedgehog said handing her the photograph bearing his signature
and a personalized message with her name scrawled across it.
"Take a breath, you had the stones to fight back against
Robuttnik and Infinite so that puts you above the typical
screeching fan girl." Sonic pointed towards the beach as he
rolled his arm. "Well you already woke me up and you look like
you need the practice. Wanna get some training in?" He asked as
he fiddled with the ear that was missing a chunk.

Umi slowed her ramblings before taking some deep breaths, in and
out, pausing for a second before taking the photograph back from
him. "Um, thanks, S-Sonic..." She ended questionably as she took
in his implication about her being just a fan girl. It's not
like she could really argue with that; he was right, after all.
She really needed to pull herself together or she'll never earn
respect.
Squaring her shoulders, Umi firmly nodded at his request. "Yeah,
I'd really like some training, especially from the best--" she
cut herself off. Dammit, she let that crap slip again. Oh well,
time to move on--he's waiting!
"Uh, yeah! Let's go, dude! Too much? Too much.

Hearing he was the best Sonic smirked shooting her a thumbs up.
"Damn straight! Now let's jam." The blue blur said grabbing her
wrist and zipping them both down the beach, the transition was
so fast it was almost like they hadn't moved at all. Sonic stood
over from Umi staring her down. "Alright, rookie show me what
you've got." He belted out pointing towards the orange hedgehog
as lightning surged through his eyes. "Don't feel bad if you
can't hit me. Not many people can, let's face it nobody really
can." He told the girl donning a large cocky grin. The friendly
demeanor he had a moment ago faded away as Sonic's competitive
nature bubbled to the surface.

Umi couldn't even react as they were suddenly standing in the
sand right next to the water standing wobbily-kneed due to her
brain fluids catching up to her vision, but once she steadied
herself she stared up wide-eyed at the challenging, looming blue
hedgehog.
"Uh...alright then, I guess," the orange hedgehog yielded to his
request and slightly turned her body sideways into an offensive
stance with her hands spread out in front of herself.
"Here goes something!" She declared before some rippling sounded
from behind them and a sharp wisp of salt water shot out from
the ocean and barreled towards Sonic in a frantic attempt to
nail him. She didn't want to hurt him, after all.

Sonic stepped aside letting the water pass him as it whipped
past him narrowly missing his head. Sonic stood still holding
his hands behind his back before giving a loud and obnoxious
yawn. "I'm sorry have we started yet?" He said before blasting
off utterly destroying the sound barrier, his takeoff unleashed
a deafening sonic boom that shook the ground and tore trees out
of their roots. Sonic shot off towards Umi and started circling
her rapidly, he was quite literally running circles around her.
Building up massive amounts of static energy Sonic formed a wild
vortex of surging lightning around the orange rookie. The faster
Sonic ran the more wild the electrical storm became, she was
trapped in this storm unable to leave unless she she could catch
Sonic or funnel water into the top of the vortex.

Umi was relatively unfazed by Sonic's incessant taunting but
nevertheless tried her best to concentrate all of her energy
into her breathing and focusing her energy into forming a
high-energy stream of water. The foamy bubbles formed by the
kinetic strength of her power soon launched the salt water up
into the air and went straight into the windy vortex Sonic
created. It engulfed Umi entirely, making her look like Chaos
ate her, until she was also lifted out of the trap by the high
velocity. Once she landed softly and safely on the ground next
to Sonic, her eyes grew glassy as a giant wave suddenly grew
behind her rose up and cascaded down upon the blue hedgehog out
of spite.
