History:
[font=times new roman]Nolan was born to a renowned female
pianist named Aude, and a DJ named Logan. Nolan was 6 years old
when Aude began training him to become a pianist like her, and
even likes him to compete in local pianist competitions. At
first, of course, he lost various times, but overtime, he
eventually became known by his region as “the Mozart of Aragon”
for his excellent piano abilities at such a young age.
When Nolan was 10 years old, his parents had divorced, and he
lived with his mother ever since. When Aude’s health began to
decline from a mysterious disease, it constrained her to a
wheelchair and an oxygen tank; this brought an end to her
14-year music career. It caused so much distress to her that
Nolan’s training became far more intense.
Practice sessions usually took place during Wednesdays and
Thursdays, but this quickly became a daily routine. Nolan’s
education was immediately interfered as he was often forced by
his mother to skip school to rehearse, under the excuse of a
“medical issue”. Aude would verbally and mentally abuse Nolan if
he fails to perform to her standards, resulting in his social
life to drop, and lose all feeling. Locals no longer called him
the “Mozart of Aragon”, but instead the derogatory “Music
Factory” because of his robotic mannerisms and the lack of
emotion he puts on the piano.
For an important local competition that was coming up, Nolan was
sometimes even physically abused by Aude in rehearsals. Although
Nolan won the competition as if he was in a class of his own, he
was publicly humiliated by Aude because his performance didn’t
match her wishes. She hits him with her cane several times until
his nose bled, berating him in the process. Nolan,
understandably upset, fought back and yells “I wish you would
just die”, before running off to a secluded area where he was
eventually found and comforted by Aisha Leigh, a private piano
teacher who was one of the competition's judges. This was the
last thing Nolan had said to his mom before she was hospitalized
after relapsing, dying from lung failure 2 days later. Nolan had
moved in with Logan ever since.
Five years later, Nolan was now 15 years old. Nolan had
seemingly abandoned the piano altogether despite his friends
trying to bring him back. In high school, Nolan was practicing
on the piano in secrecy, struggling to play a specific piece to
perfection. After trying desperately to keep his rhythm, a power
surge sweeps through the entire school. Under the thought that
it was caused by a rolling thunderstorm at the time, Nolan later
realizes that he was wrong. Nolan had became so powerful in
performing music that he actually gained supernatural powers
based off of it. Nolan immediately knew how to play any keyboard
instrument, and can even control sounds that each instrument
makes and turn them into some form of energy. The journey of his
life begins from here...[/font]
Abilities:
Musicianship: Nolan instantly knows how to skillfully play any
keyboard instrument (Piano, melodica, etc.)!
Mood: Nolan’s strength of his powers depend on the music he
plays or hears. If he hadn’t played or heard any music in a
while, his strength remains neutral. If it’s angry or bright,
his strength increases. If somber, his strength drops.
Form: Nolan is capable of forming an instrument (or music gun)
made completely out of soundwaves. There has to be sound loud
enough in the background in order for him to do this. It also
runs on limited energy and will dissolve if there is not enough
sound nearby.
Scream: Nolan can use his voice to scream so loud that it causes
physical damage on a large scale. Enemies may go deaf and
unstable materials may break if they resonate with the scream,
like glass or even brick.
Bullet: Nolan can turn any keyboard or stringed instrument to a
sonic superweapon. Any note played on a violin, for example,
emits a short, rapidly-travelling “bullet” of distorted sound
waves towards an enemy and inflict considerable damage. The more
bass an instrument produces, the more damage it causes.
Distract: Nolan can use instruments to emit infrasound, a sound
whose frequency is so low that it goes under the range of
(human) senses, making it impossible to hear. This can cause
unusual effects such as aurorae, difficulty breathing, burning
sensations and more. He uses this as a form of distraction to
his enemies.
Weaknesses*:
Anxiety and reverence: His anxiety stems from his mother’s abuse
of him back when he was much younger. Although it’s not an issue
anymore, Nolan becomes very anxious and much more empathetic in
social situations. Nolan often questions his ability to play
instruments, even if he had seemingly mastered them. If he can
already play a piece beautifully, he might as well have to do it
again, better. Once again, this mindset was brought by his
abusive mother, and it may not change at all during his
lifetime. He shows deep respect to everyone, including bullies
of his own, as if they were his bosses or pet owners. This may
also contribute to bullying due to his obedience.
Trivia:
- Most of the inspiration of this character comes from a
manga/anime called Your lie in April (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso).
