Re: Stars on the Midnight Range?
By: Guntram Messerschmitt Date: August 24, 2017, 1:56 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
"Keep dreaming and it will eventually become reality, isn't that
what they say?" Guntram asked as he resumed his maintenance,
"that's what i did, kept dreaming and working as hard as i could
       towards it."
The request of a demonstration made Guntram very happy as well,
"I would love to give you that, just sit down and wait. I will
do the patrol in an hour. I will do my check and give you a
       flight."
As the hour passed by Guntram continued his work while
explaining everything Arvid wanted to know about the machine.
Eventually the time was up though and Guntram ran through the
final check before putting on his helmet and got into the
       cockpit.
"Alright, stay close to the hangar and enjoy. I will make the
ending of the patrol something to admire," he assured him as the
mechanics got him pulled onto the runway. From there, it was a
bit more waiting as the engine was spun up and then he was off,
thundering down the runway. Once in the air, he did a few
circles of the base before he was issued his patrol route and
       was off.
It would be another hour before the jet reappeared on the
horizon and cross over the area. Now it was time for Guntram to
be acrobatic as he pulled the jet into a vertical climb and
applied left rudder as the plane slowed to a stall at wish point
it flipped over and started to point down, the maneuver was
called 'The Hammerhead'. Guntram however, wasn't intending to
settle for the normal Hammerhead and instead went for the double
hammerhead*, which required the pilot to do two complete
rotations around the vertical axis before straitening the plane
back out and leveling it out. It was clear that he liked to
practice these kinds of tricks as he managed to pull it off
without issues. With that little display of aerial technique he
lined up and was allowed to put her back down on the ground
after which he rolled it back to the hangar and Arvid.
"You saw that?!" Guntram asked excited as he jump out, "i put
that on for you specifically and for making you wait as long as
       you did."

Arvid was impressed by his friend's skills and couldn't help but
smile cheerfully. It felt when they were kids again, but now it
was real, no play pretend. Guntram was a pilot, the flightless
bird flew a graceful metallic beast that he named after his
squadmate the same that Arvid feared. After the show, Arvid
realised that maybe he should go home considering that the same
terrifying panther might come back sooner or later. 'Thank you
for the display, you can put quite the show you know that? But
alas, I must go back home and let you guys work, and besides the
scary panther might come back sooner or later and one
humiliation in front of miss Hawkings is enough, for now at
least, I've probably left her a bad impression anyway. I better
go...': He said with a fake smile just so Guntram wouldn't
notice he was a bit sad about leaving. 'Anyhow, toodles good
friend.': He hugged his friend before leaving, he had enough
action for one day one collapsing was enough.

Guntram seemed saddened that Arvid had to leave already, but he
could certainly understand it as he hugged him.
"It was the least i could do after having you wait for almost
two hours, i am glad you liked it," he assured him as he
escorted him back to the crew lounge before seeing him off,
"take care Arvid, it's great to know you live here now. Hope to
       meet you again soon."
