Soft Reboot (Important To Read!)

After carefully mulling over ways to refresh RP interest with a
fun new setting, new people can jump in on while not upsetting
long time members I've finally come up with an idea. This is a
shot in the arm we've badly needed for a long time, as the
current continuity has grown long winded with major character
death,plot holes,time travel, over developed characters and in
general just way too much continuity baggage. Much like DC or
Marvel comics do every so often we're doing a reboot that will
change up the tone, let new members join more easily while
keeping elements and stories the old members loved. So instead
of throwing out everything I decided on a compromise, a soft
reboot.
What is a Soft Reboot?
A reboot or reset that technically takes place in the same
continuity as prior installments.
Why Not A Total Reboot?
Because I love you guys and I know how attached to the past 4
years of content you are.
Will Old Characters still Be Friends?
Yes, Totally! However the details of their friendship and things
that did together prior to the reboot will be foggy. More or
less the memories they retained are your head canon.
My Head Canon?
Yep, all events prior to this reboot are up to you to decide,
your characters memories are your canvas, so add and subtract
whatever you like. For example I'll be leaving Sonic with most
of his memories up until the final battle with Robotnik, he
won't recall other events however like Sapphire's death, Ty's
betrayal and proposing to Karahl. Mostly because these are major
things I'd feel need to be removed from his character to keep
the story going. I want Sonic to still be friends with his old
team mate Ty, I think an open flirty relationship is more fun to
write and Sapphire's death split the team up and ended the
story.
The Threat?
So you know how when people suffer a traumatic or violent
experience they don't like to talk about it? That's a small part
of what we're going for here. For years our team of Freedom
Fighters saved the world from Robotnik,Death Cults, A Blood
Goddess and Magical Ponies. All of these we're big threats we
faced but which ones still happened are up to your individual
head canon. However reference to these events must remain
extremely vague, as to not draw to much attention to the old
setting and conflict with other peoples head canons. So to
remedy this the only 100% certain canon is The Freedom Fighters
fought a vague threat, won and now we have peace. With it being
a violent experience they probably lost friends in, it's an
experience they don't talk about.
A Time Warp Huh?
Yes at the very beginning of this setting the Chaos Emeralds
along with the Master Emerald, were used by an unknown force to
wrap space and time, wiping many events from existence while
leaving others intact. Each person remembers things differently,
but most of these memories seem like faint dreams as this new
reality and setting sink into place. The only thing set in stone
is The Freedom Fighters won a great victory, over whom or what
are names all but lost to history.
What Should I Write Out Of My Memories & History?
Anything stupid or too dark, you feel is holding your ability to
write your OC back. (Like the time we all fought ponies or you
we're tricked into killing an entire race.) But in the end
whatever you decide is up to you.
No more Mobotroplis!?
Yes our new main hub will be Starlight Town, a small town away
from the big city and home to the world's fastest hedgehog. This
little burg would be a mostly quiet town if it wasn't for
Sonic's presence turning the place into a tourist hot spot.
Modern huts and houses litter the streets with small stone
pathways connecting to places of interest like local shops and
cafes. The night sky above Starlight town is clearer and more
beautiful than anywhere else in the world, giving Starlight Town
it's name. Sapphire gave me the idea to ditch the city setting
and go for something more fun, yet isn't quite as silly as Sonic
Boom, so we can still tell serious stories.
Tell Me More About This New Setting?
Well this new setting is a very generic Sonic setting that is a
light combination of the comic books and games. No humans exist
in this universe, the planet is Mobius and the world has entered
an era of peace thanks to the mysterious acts of the Freedom
Fighters. Dr Robotnik is a name that has vanished from history
as it now only exists as a mark of the old continuity and it's
dark lore. New threats and villains will arise to take his place
with Eggman being a stand in for Robotnik if anybody ever
returns to play the good doctor. Sonic is still good friends
with his team, living in Starlight Town still acting as a world
saving hero but in a more peaceful time.
You Evil? Then Get in?
With the past behind us and Robotnik's legacy tied to the old
world, we will need new enemies to battle. I mostly cook up
these bad guys to fight but these days I'm a very busy guy, if
you'd like to play a bad guy please go ahead. (Empress Blaze I'm
looking at you.)
I'm New Here, What Are The Rules?
1. Nobody is faster than the lead (Sonic)
2. No godmodding unless it's given permission by the other
player.
3. Don't be a **** ****.
That's about it for now, the old continuity will remain open for
sometime and close a little while after the current arc is over.
While the new setting is open to RP in right way, I urge you to
let Sapphire finish her arc first so you doesn't get distracted.
The old continuity will be left open for a little while after
the arc to allow people to finish up any ideas or unfinished
business they had before the reset. Lastly if you have friends
who like RP on DA or wherever send them here so we can get some
new members.
