Maria saw what Sapph was trying to do and while she wanted to
intervene she couldn't and just kept her head down. That wasn't
all though, somehow Carol know they were here and had come to
say hello. She seemed to target Sapph as well, adding more
insult to injury given that she was already incapacitated but
she didn't them to come for her she wanted them to flee and make
a dash for the gateway. Maria didn't like the idea of leaving
her, she was their leader on this job after all, but with Val
trying to cover their escape her apparent acceptance of her
fate... maybe they should leave her? No, she couldn't, not when
it was her that threw the bomb and rendered her like that, but
remaining would probably leave the rest of the team in danger.
In the end her own philosophy turned on her and deemed leaving
her the right thing.
"It's no use, fall back!" she called out to the rest as she
started to fall back with the mist, though moving slowly
backwards if something should change. She really didn't like
having to do this, "we- we have to do it now... or we all die."

Watching the scene unfold before the Knight caused for her to
scowl behind her helmet. Call her old fashioned, but deep down
her sense of honor and morale code could not let her flee the
battle field without an ally or seemingly innocent. The Knight
then quickly spread her wings and darted across the battlefield
and landed in between Caroline and Sapphire. She tossed her
swords lightly into the air, allowing them to do a full rotation
before catching them by the handles again and then pointed one
of the blades at the feline from a distance, "Stay thy hand.
Leave her be. I , Lady Platinumstrike, challenge thee!" she
proclaimed, her voice strong and valiant.
She may not have any idea what lay ahead in the fortress, but at
least here on the battle field she knew what she was doing.
Either way, staying here or not, she was also able to buy the
others time to save the future; should they decide to leave.

The grenades ignited in Sonic's face causing him to filch for
but a single moment. In his current form however it did little
to slow him down. He vanished appearing before Sapphire looking
at the weak pathetic girl before him. He picked her up by her
long logs as he hovered overheard. He looked down over her
friends retreating and laughed in amusement. "You call these
friends." With the appearance of Caroline Sonic raised an
eyebrow and questioned. "Do you want me to finish her master? To
delete this misfire that's polluting the time stream." Sonic
said as his eyes started to glow read again ready to melt
Sapphire's skull as he brings her up to eye level. Before he
proceeded to burn her face off Sonic looked into Sapphire's eyes
and winked. It was swift and subtle only a fellow speedster
could even tell he was winking. Question is what did it mean,
and why did he go to such great lengths to make sure Sapphire
was the only one who saw it?

"...Leave?" Ashura dragged himself forward and stood up very
slowly, as if he was somehow under the pressure of extra
gravity. His feet dug into the ground slightly all of a sudden,
creating a few small cracks. Of course, he wasn't aware of that,
he simply stepped forward a few paces. "If I was gonna do that,
then why would I even come along?" He spoke to nobody in
particular, but his voice was oddly loud enough for those that
had gathered should they decide to listen. "When we're done
here, everyone will have a place to call home. People to go home
to. No cursed glow-stick, nasty force field, or special-ops army
is gonna make me back down on the promise I made! So if you want
me to turn tail and get gone..." Ashura growled, as he once
again assumed a fighting stance, one that was slightly more
sophisticated than the previous one.
[center][glow=green,2,250]"Then you're gonna be
disappointed!"[/glow][/center]
A spark flickered in the emerald hedgehog's eyes, determination
that made it clear he was ready for anything.

Sapphire could hear her team mates calling out, she kept looking
around, blinking hard to try and regain her normal vision focus,
but that was made harder when you're kinda upside down in the
air.
She could feel her blood rushing to her head, her eyelids
drooped groggily the longer she was kept there, "[sub]Caroline..
Sister.. Please..[/sub]" This was quickly followed by a sharp
hiss and a soft 'I am not your sister' coming from Caroline
before Sapphire was dropped on her head and then scooped up by
Sonic.
She looked a bit sick for a few moments, but she caught his wink
before she'd drop her head back and close her eyes. God. What a
day. Is now an okay time to nap? Just... For.. Five minutes..
She was out like a light.
Least she caught the other speedsters speedy wink though right?
Maybe she let herself pass out because she knew she was in good
hands now?

Caroline looked a bit surprised when Sonic took Sapphire, her
eyes followed him and the other hedgehog. She honestly was sure
what to think of him. He was flexible, and never gave up. So he
probably had some sort of plan behind this whole ordeal. But
what?
Her eyes would skim the group. Looking up and down the knight
before her a few times, as she seemed to be challenging the cat.
The feline would save her hand, before placing it to her chest
and giving a light bowl or a curtesy to the knight,
"[shadow=Crimson,right]Nay Madame Knight, for I hath no strife
with thee; but one with the blue wretch [/shadow]" She would say
politely before standing back up, her eyes going back to
Sapphire, she looked to be pondering something...
"[shadow=Crimson,right]No, Sonic. But do bring her to me back at
base. I have something I need her to do for me[/shadow]"'She
would say, her eyes narrowing at Sonic.
She'd give one more glance over the group,
"[shadow=Crimson,right]I'd love to stay and chat. But I have
your other friends to go suss out. They've been looking through
my things.. Tsk tsk... I'll see you all later... If you can even
make it to the warp gate[/shadow]" She'd cackle lightly, before
disappearing in a pop. But not before sending a few different
little round objects towards different members of the ground.
One would explode in a ball of electricity. Another would burst
and spit out a ball of flames. A third would pop and spit out an
acid and the final one let off a cloud of green smoke that would
make it hard to breath.
(Wether these hit or not and who gets hit by which one is up to
you guys! Doesn't bother me if they all miss)

The second Caroline left Sonic turned blue once again as he
said. "Moron." He said rolling his eyes having fooled the cat so
easily. When her orbs assaulted the group Sonic ran around the
party at high speeds kicking up circular winds that turned into
a powerful vortex. The tornado would provide protection from the
elements while blowing the deadly gas away. Once the danger
faded Sonic sighed walking over to Sapphire again, he had an
frown upon his face and worry in his eyes as he pulled the young
girl into his lap. He wasn't sure if she could hear him but he
spoke anyway. "Sapphire can't we just leave this horrible place?
I want to go home, with Karahl, Blaze and even that backstabber
Ty. I'm so very........tired I can't image what it's like for
you living here. I don't want to loose Karahl......but I don't
want you to fade away either....I......I don't want to live in a
world where I have to make a choice like that. Everything has
been going wrong since you defeated Robotnik all those years
ago. Karahl has been acting.....different, distant less
ambitious, Ty has finally let his lust come between us as
friends and now this.....Caroline is bent on tearing our reality
apart." Looking up at the others he raised an eyebrow. "I don't
even know who half these people are......This whole future thing
is starting to hurt the ol brain." He said softly rubbing his
temples.

Val couldn't help it, she shielded the doe. Wrapping the smaller
female in her arms and turned her back to the orbs weither or
not she would be hit didn't matter. She promised Maria that
nothing would harm her. Just like she would have done for Veira.
Which triggered a turmoil of complex emotions she didn't want to
think about. But came to realisation that she couldn't worry
about her friend all the time. Nor let her emotions control her.
She looked at the doe with a smile, feeling no pain at all.
Something or someone probably negated them somehow and her
accute sense of smell made her notice that Caroline was gone and
Sapphire was still there. She tried to unwrapped her arms but
the stress was too high. She tried to breath and whispered to
the doe."I promised no one would harm you.." Before finally
releasing her from her protective embrace and took a few steps
back. Something inside her had changed though she didn't wanted
to admit it. While Beastly was stirring in her sleep, eager to
wake up once again. Her body would shrink a little and her claws
would retract to return to their usual lenght. The bone cracking
sounds were loud enough to be heard at short distances and she
sat down , browsing her satchel to retrieve a vial of fluids she
opened and drank with no explanation and remained appart from
the group to calm down for a minute or two. It had been an
ordeal they've been throught which exhausted her.

She couldn't do it, no, not when she threw the grenade... she
had to make up for it. However, when she started to move forward
again she saw Sapph being held in Sonic's arms and Carol by his
side. Then the cat vanished, but not before leaving them a
surprise in the form of four bombs.
"Incoming, get down!" she screamed and covered her face while
letting herself fall, expecting the pain... but nothing came.
Instead she found herself wrapped in Val's arms as the dire wolf
covered her with her own back. As it turned out Sonic had
regained his senses and managed to protect them from the bombs.
This rendered Val's gesture slightly useless, but it was still
the thought that counted and Maria ended gave the dire wolf a
big hug in return. "Thanks a ton Miss Val, i really appreciate
it."
She didn't mind Val chucking down potions from her own bag, nor
did she pay attention to her shrinking a bit or her claws
changing, who was she to judge? No her focus was on the ones she
had nearly abandoned and she reached just in time to hear Sonic
talk to the unconscious Sapphire. She didn't really want to
speak, but that had gotten into enough trouble as it was so that
wasn't an option.
"S- sir, with all due respect, we can't leave this place... not
until our work is complete," she eventually argued and knelt
down to get a better look at the young woman in the hero's lap,
"if we do so, what will happen to rest of Mobius? Look around
you, this hellhole that your daughter has lived in is what
awaits us if we don't finish this. Is it really worth it to have
a few extra years of happiness if it dooms the future? We all
looked up to you at some point, some of us still do, your drive,
your courage and persistence against adversity. So please, help
us see this through... change the future for the better. It
won't be easy i know... it never is, but i urge you to consider
it just this once."
She fell silent and holstered her weapon before unequipping her
bag.
"Of course... you can always disregard my words, i was the one
that actively advocated leaving your daughter behind," she
muttered and looked at Sonic as she made an effort to pull
Sapphire closer, "i- i am terribly sorry that i even considered
it. We're all a team after all. Please, just let me perform a
basic check-up on her... it's at least a start to make up for
the betrayal. Once we're sure she's stable we can head for the
warp gate, form up with rest and bring an end to HER rule."

Sonic would find it easy to pull the smaller hedgehog into his
lap, not just weight wise, but at the fact she couldn't exactly
stop him from doing so either. When Sonic began to speak she
stirred a little, lifting up a hand and dropping it against
Sonic's chest before she'd blink open her eyes slowly, looking
up at him once she regained focus. She was listening and she let
him speak, she smiled lightly by the end of it, pressing one of
her cheeks against him. She missed comfort, especially the
comfort Sonic brought.
"You can go back if that's what up you wish for, all you have to
do is pop this bubble on yourself or close to you, and it'll
send you right back to your time and home" She would say as she
pulled a small Crimson coloured sphere out of one of her
bracelets and slipped it into one of his hands. "I can't
guarantee that it's still as you remember it though".
The part about Karahl, Blaze and Ty though... She'd look away,
closing her eyes.
"Karahl, Blaze and Ty are all elsewhere, we are trying to get to
them." She'd point to the large spiral fortress in the center of
where Mobotropolis used to stand tall "There's a warp gate at
the top, it'll bring us to where they are, we just have to get
there" She looked back at Sonic "You can go home if you'd like
and I'll send them back for you once I run into them" She smiled
lightly, with a grin that rivalled one of Sonic's "But something
tells me you don't want anyone else doing the duty for you,
huh?"
When he said the name 'Caroline' There'd be a flash of light
that would flash again and disappear just as quickly as it had
appeared.
"SHE is only bent on tearing me apart, don't worry" She looked
saddened talking about Caroline but didn't show any reasons as
to why. "I don't know most of them either or at least not well,
but they mean well and I'm greatful anyone ever even came to
help" She'd sit up a bit and would hang her head down to Sonic,
"I think about that a lot... The fade or be honest with your
partner thing.... I'm a problem to Caro too.. Maybe SHE is
right. Maybe I did ruin everything.."
There would be noise up ahead getting closer, but the team still
had a bit of time left on their hands.

Once Sapphire woke up again Maria let out a sigh of relief and
packed up again, no check up required, they would be ready to go
very soon hopefully. She backed off and let her talk. At first
it didn't seem too bad but after a surprise appearance by Carol,
which almost made the doe jump and reach for her weapon again,
it took a dark turn as Sapph talked about her ruining
everything.
"Please ma'am, don't go there, we all know that can't be true,"
she argued as calmly as possible to try and cheer her up a bit,
"i mean, if it wasn't for you we wouldn't be here, if it wasn't
for you we wouldn't be trying to change the past and, lastly,
without you... we wouldn't be able to pull through with this.
You're the one with all the experience."
She wanted to say more but the noises were getting closer, time
was running out on them. They had to move very soon.
"We shouldn't linger here, the noises are closing in," she said
quickly as her heart rate started to pick up again while she
reached for her weapon, "Sapphire, ma'am, please lead the way."
