Speed Is MY Game!

It was a sunny day in Mobotropolis the people were busy and
always doing something because life here never slows down. In a
loft down town resident super hero Sonic was listening to the
radio. “Dan it’s a lovely day here in Mobotropolis today. The
sun is shining the birds are signing and I’ve got a hot date
tonight.”
“Jon you know dinner with your Mother doesn’t count as a date
right? Hold the phone your dinner may be cancelled. I’m getting
reports that a car in a high-speed chase is about to collide
with a woman who looks an awful lot like your Mother.”
Sonic gave a smug smile as he knelt down pulling up his
shimmering sneakers. With that he blasted out of the building
leaving a trail of fire in his wake. He was running at insane
speeds sending shockwaves out battering the cars parked at the
side of the street. He looked behind himself seeing his long red
shoes leaving colored streaks in his wake. Sonic knew he only
had a couple of seconds until the impact so he stepped up his
game now reaching speeds of over one thousand miles per hour.
Streets and houses whizzed by the speedster as he utterly
destroyed the sound barrier sending out a sound shattering sonic
boom across the third street city block. Sonic looking ahead saw
a red hot rod about to collide with a panda woman holding a
birdcage. The driver of the car was a hardened coyote criminal
who was fleeing the police after having had just held up a
bookstore. Sonic rushed in sweeping the woman off her feet
setting her on the sidewalk. To her the movement was so fast she
wasn’t even aware what had happened. The convict driving the car
was annoyed he didn’t get to add another body to his rising
kill-count. He went back to focusing on outrunning the cops as
his supped up convertible tore through the streets. Before long
Sonic caught up to the car on foot and jumped into the passenger
seat. He kicked his legs up onto the dash looking way too
relaxed to be dealing with a serial killer. He offered a cocky
smile as he spoke in his cool and raspy voice.
“You call this soup can fast!? I could outrun this thing in my
sleep.”
The driver of the car shocked reached into the glove compartment
reaching for a gun. With an intimidating look in his eye he
placed the gun to Sonic’s head. Sonic yawned as the trigger was
pulled. The gun made a click when a bang should have been heard.
The criminal was absolutely astounded he could have sworn he
loaded it. The speedster smiled holding up the missing magazine
in his hand between two fingers. “Looking for these? If I were
you I’d quit these things will kill ya.” Sonic then tossed the
clip into the drivers lap.
“You really are an idiot aren’t ya?”
The criminal hollered loading up his gun taking one hand off the
steering wheel. He aimed the gun at the hero and started pulling
the trigger rapidly. Sonic became a blur moving blindingly
quickly as the seven rounds were squeezed off. He shook his head
looking rather annoyed, as all the bullets had missed him.
“That’s all you got? Dude haven’t you heard I’m way faster than
a speeding bullet.” With that he grabbed the wheel turning it
car into a street sign. After the crash the Blue furred hero
pulled his victim from the wreckage dragging the injured con
through the city streets. Soon the media was swarming the scene
with reporters and curious bystanders. Sonic’s grin grew as all
the people were flooding in towards him like mice to cheese. He
tossed the crook aide as the police had rolled up to take him
away. A robotic reporter wearing a hot pink suit and skirt with
blonde hair approached Sonic asking him various questions.
“Sonic! Beck Barbas here for RC News. How dose it feel to have
saved a life today?”
Not wasting anytime the hero showed his public speaking
confidence by taking the reporters microphone and started
speaking into it. “I gotta say it feels good. I’m especially
excited all you fans came out to watch me work today. I want
each and every one of you to know as long as I’m around
Mobotropolis is safe. Because let’s face it only idiots commit
crimes in this town with the best damn hero around.” With his
speech said Sonic’s ego was riding high as the crowd of on
looking people exploded into thunderous applause. Sonic loved
the attention and he wasn’t the kind of guy who knew when to
stop as he roared. “WHO DO YOU LOVE!?” He asked as the audience
was cheering his name repeatedly. Beck had managed to pry her
microphone back from Sonic as she guided over a smartly dressed
young cat Lady with yellow hair tied in a bun.
“This young lady’s name is Sunny. She was working at the
register of the bookstore this man robbed earlier today. Go on
dear.” Beck instructed giving Sunny the microphone. She spoke in
a clear and somewhat frazzled manor due to the recent traumatic
experience.
“Well it all happened so fast. I was making my rounds
reorganizing the books, which was quite exciting. The new system
was far more efficient for cataloging the science based texts
and I finally convinced the owner to get rid of the graphic
novel section. Then I was rudely interrupted by that foul
excuse for a gentleman who was waving a gun at me. He demanded
more money than I could possibly give him. When I told him I
couldn’t possibly give him more than five hundred rings he
threatened to shoot me and fired his gun. Then something very
fast rushed in and plucked the bullet out of the air. It’s what
I assumed to be Mr. Sonic here.” She smiled pulling a pen from
the tightly knit bun she kept her hair in lightly biting into
the end. “Ummm if you wouldn’t mind.” She asked slightly shy.
Sonic smiled snatching up the pen and scrawling his name across
the book she had nestled in her arms. “No worries Sunny. I would
have stopped him sooner but after stopping that bullet I took a
break to read those comics you were throwing out.” After Sonic’s
statement Sunny’s lavender eyes grew wide shocked at the
revelation. However she let it go and gladly posed for photos
with the hero. After the pictures Sonic smiled as the camera was
focused on him again. "Yep! Also I wanted to take a moment to
thank the members of Team Sonic. They are the best friends a guy
could have. I trained them all myself. Yep they were a sorry lot
when I found them. Hell most of them couldn't even throw a
straight punch, especially Karahl. But like I said I whipped
them into shape. Really I took a band of rookies and turned them
into a formidable fighting force. I mean when you've got this
much skill it's bound to rub off on others, yanno?" Sonic said
on the news that was being broadcast over the entire city.

"Is that so Major Blue?" a voice said. As if on cue Ty showed up
munching on a chili dog shortly after the little race he had
with his future daughter. No longer was he a caveman sulking in
his lving arrangement but a man who looks forward into the days
of tommorrow.
"Am I late for debreifing or do I have to drop and give ya
twenty push ups" he took another bite.

Sapphire would be right alongside Ty as the two approached
Sonic, both her hands held chilidogs, one she had taken a huge
bite out of, the other, untouched.
As the littler blue hedgehog approached the other blue hedgehog,
she would hold out the chilidog with a bite in it, "I got one
for you of course, couldn't forget you- oh wait" She'd giggle
before holding out the untouched chilidog to him, biting into
her own chilidog again, a bit of sauce remaining on her top lip
after the bite, leaving her with a bit of a sauce moustache.
"This one's yours".
The two had heard the car chase and had came running, but of
course Sonic had it under control by the time they arrived.
"Planet's hero and our Team Leader must get hungry after all,
right?"

Sonic zipped over to Sapphire picking her up and spinning her
around like she was still a little kid. Setting her back down he
smiled pointing to himself. "For me? Aww kid you are simply the
best. Hows my favorite kid with the lid anyway?" He asked before
nodding in reply. "Of course gotta keep the ol tank full." When
he heard Ty's voice his chipper tone faded and dark lines formed
under his eyes. Sonic's tone fell to a much lower volume showing
great annoyance. "Oh it's you.....Lemme guess you out here
making out with some other guy's girlfriend." He addressed
Sapphire next still clearly upset not even his favorite food
cheering him up.

A sinking feeling creeped up in his mind, Sonic was still angry
at the stunt he pulled, he had almost forgot that faitful day.
"You and Karahl are engaged now isnt that more important to
think about than to hold grudges? Besides if I truly had
feelings for her wouldnt you find it strange I attacked her out
of the blue? She is brainwashed and I'd do anything to free my
friends from Eggman's control, I'd do the same to you if you
were in that situation"

"Weeee!" Sapphire would shout out excitedly as Sonic scooped her
up and spun her around like a child, when he set her down she'd
nod with a smile "For you! The one and only!" She'd give a
gleeful grin before putting her hands on her cheeks, sticking
out her tongue at Sonic's compliments "I'm good! I just helped
Ty out of a deep case of sorrow blues! He's back to his old
cheerful, optimistic self again! And and! This weekend, I'm
gonna be spending time with my boyfr- SCOUT I mean Scout! He's a
really good friend! That's a boy! Ahahahaha!" Sapphire would
laugh nervously, rubbing behind her head before stuffing the
rest of her chilidog in her mouth to prevent herself from making
it worse.
The young hedgehog would seem a bit panicked at the tense
between Ty and Sonic after what had happened a little while
back, seems Sonic was still boiling up over it in regards to Ty.
"Uhhhhh.." Sapphire gulped before trying to break the tension,
giving Sonic a light nudge with her arm, "Hey, he has a point,
you and Karahl are engaged, got any wedding plans or future
plans in general? Think about that instead! Ty isn't the one
with her, I mean. She said yes to you D-Sonic, that must mean
something right?"

Sonic slapped Ty's hotdog out of his hand still looking annoyed
as he uttered. "Opps.." He jammed his head against Ty's gritting
his teeth. "I know you've had feelings for Karahl. Don't think I
didn't notice how you kissed her after Sapphire sent Robotnik
packing. I know you've always had the hots for her. I let it
slide the first time because I thought your respect for your
friends outweighed lust." Sonic shoved the wolf backwards more
angry than ever. "I don't care if she was under anybody's
control there's just some things you don't do. You wanted to
break Eggman's hold over her a power ring works just as well."
Sonic looked back to Sapphire raising an eyebrow. He smiled for
a moment. "Ohhh somebody is nervous. Heh boy whose just a friend
huh? Well be sure to have fun and let your buddy know if he
hurts you in anyway I'll come break his arms." Sonic turned back
to Ty poking him in the chest with his index finger. "You've
kissed my woman TWICE! That's not normal Ty. That's twice you've
betrayed my trust......Funny I've read wolves are meant to be
loyal. You think I wanted to propose in front of you and the
kid? I wanted to have asked her on a mountain where the earth
meets the heavens but you ruined that to. So from now on just
stay the hell away from me."

"..........." no words were spoken only thing Ty did was once
again don his stoic "mask" to hide away his feeling of
rejection. Sonic was absolutely right, instead of accepting the
fact Karahl was with Sonic, he gave into his selfish desire to
have her for himself not once thinking about how either of them
feel about it. in fact it is very possible Karahl, his master,
the one he looks up to for guidence, the one whom took under his
wing may have loathed every fiber of his being just like Sonic
does. Perhaps its time to dissappear......to remain a distant
memory.
Still not uttering a word he turn and begin walking away from
the scene during everything he could to bottled up everything
inside disgusing his way of walking to that of a guy who
possessed an iron will. Before he left he stood next to Sapphire
one last time without batting an eye to her keeping his stoic
face.
"Thank you for trying kid..I appreciate it.." with that he
walked away without ever looking back.

Sapphire watched the two interact, and she didn't like any of
what she saw.
As Ty began to walk away she'd use her speed to be in front of
him, hands on his chest to push him back. "NO! We're not giving
up just like that! I won't let you!" She'd shout out, digging
her heels into the ground to prevent Ty from going further.
"SONIC! ... MAURICE HEDGEHOG!" Sapphire shouted out to the other
blue hedgehog, her voice almost as threatening as an angry
mother's. Grabbing hold of Ty gently, she'd bring him back over
wether he liked it or not, she would not allow him to walk off.
With a hold on Ty, she'd go back over to Sonic, gone was her
playful attitude as she jammed a finger against Sonic's nose.
"You listen here DAD. I spent ages tryna help Ty off of the
couch and back to being his usual self, and I'm not going to
stand for some grudge you have against him to undo all that
work! Yes, what Ty did was wrong. But he regrets it ever
happening and only did it on good intention the second time,
isn't that right Ty?" She'd say, giving Ty a side look "And he'd
take it back if he could, but he can't, it's done now. It won't
happen again. And you two are both gonna move on from it and be
friends again, or so help me..." Sapphire's voice broke towards
the end, and her eyes would well up with tears.
Letting Ty go she'd cover her face and softly say, "You ever had
two people you hold dear hate and fight each other? Do you still
remember how it hurts you to see them fight?" She'd ask the two,
not looking at either of them as she dropped her hands, and
stared down at the ground. "You guys where friends, allies...
Now you're tearing each other apart like how seeing you both
like this is tearing at my heart. If you can't be friends again.
At least please try and get along. For the sake of the team..."

He was hesitant enough to head Sapphire's cry and as much as he
wants to patch things up with Sonic the strain was far too
great. "Stop it Sapphire, I screwed this whole thing up and im
owning up to it, I need to have some time alone for a while...
its for the best.." and with that he began walking away to the
vast world of infinite possiblilties and beyond.
Whatever the wind blows free is the path he will take to regain
his thoughts and put his life back in order.
