       Mechanical Mind
By: Belle Date: September 6, 2016, 8:32 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
While others were at 'play,' Belle was at home. Currently
covered in grease and dirt, she lay on her back, stationed under
the carriage of a small race car. Axles. How she hated them
when bent. How in the world this client caused this much damage
to his vehicle was beyond her. Her job, however, was fixing the
issue, not contemplating the cause. So she tweaked and toiled
at the frustrations physical before her, and emotional in her
past. Anxiety settled in the back of Belle's mind while she
worked, eyes squinting behind goggles while she switched tools
and removed the defective parts above her. Tail twitched,
memories busy with the attacks on the city. Bombs. Fries.
Chemicals. Death. Deep breath in through her mask, and out
       through the valve.
Ginger came home safe. Belle reminded herself of this,
sometimes in a whisper under her breath. With her workshop
private aside from customer inquiries made at the garage door,
Belle let her rock 'n' roll music blast. The old pieces of the
axle came loose and clattered. She filed down the uneven
surfaces where needed, then cleaned and prepared the area for
the new parts. Soft grunts pushed through her nostrils and tail
swung below her from her work hammock. Difficult life.
Difficult job. Difficult emotions. As her negative emotions
rose, she put more effort into her work, putting her energy into
her constructive skill. She did not rush, did not take her
anger and worry out on the mechanics. At least by the end of
the day, she would feel exhausted from work, and not worry.
Typical for her doorbell, her music interrupted to a quiet
murmur opposed to partying roar. A light tone broadcast, and
Belle wheeled out from her current job. After lifting her
goggles, she answered the video camera outside, "Belle's Bucket
of Bolts. You crash it, I un-mash it." A weasel stood outside,
somebody Belle knew. She let him in, and he backed his truck up
to a waiting dumpster of spare parts. Today's haul was old
plane pieces - some from abandoned yards, others from junk
sellers, and some were ocean debris. "Ah, thanks, Jack." Belle
happily paid for the scraps, a low price for the mix she would
personally dig through. Sometimes Jack brought nothing, but
sometimes he brought 'gold.' When Jack left, Belle closed her
garage door, blasted her music once more, and finished up the
axle job. When done, the race car was given a final cleaning
and detail for presentation, and wheeled up front for collection
       and claim.
Now was time for Belle to investigate the dumpster of old plane
pieces, and see what she could rig together from it.

Belle had worked a while no with those airplane parts. Among
her other projects, she took the time to invest making a new
vehicle. She had an all-terrain license, and she knew how to
fly, but it was time she had her own piece of the sky. The
hours were long, and she lost some sleep concentrating on the
project, but by the end of the week, Belle had a brand new
plane. After a long night's rest, a shower, a good breakfast,
and some yoga, the primate came back to her garage to view the
       completed fighter.
The build is similar to a Vought F4U Corsair, and sure to be a
great addition to surprise aerial attacks. She got out the wax
and buffing cloths, giving it one final polish as she did
structure and electrical checks. Her interest laid most in the
bright blue colour she had found on some of the scraps. Belle
had adopted the colour for her personal build, with green
accents, and of course, banana bunches on top of the wings. She
clicked her tongue as she looked to the underside of the wings,
and the multi-type guns she had put on them. Bullets, plasma,
emp bombs - this baby would be able to attack in several
fashions. Quick, swift, graceful... For now, she worried about
       control.
"Only one way to find out." She laughed as she suited up for a
test drive, and pulled down her goggles. "Gotta take this baby
to the skies!" Garage doors opened, and she drove the plane out
to her makeshift runway. With a smooth line-up and start, she
gained speed, blades buzzed, and she went into the air to
explore over and around the city.

After her run in with Ty and Kara, Veira had a lot to think
about. She had choose not to go back to the others....at least
not yet. With the information she had now, she didn't know what
to do with it. For the mean time, she needed to clear her head
and plan her next move. Looking up at the sky, the purple
chemicals continued to linger the air. Something she was
somewhat responsible for. A lot has happened over the past few
days and nothing seemed to be changing.
Suddenly the sound of a plane snapped Veira out of her thoughts
as she looked at the plane's general direction. Flying that high
in the sky couldn't be healthy. Maybe somebody was just testing
their plane. She decided to have a closer look. Quickly jumping
high to one of the nearest buildings, she squinted her eyes a
little to get a better look at the pilot of the plane.

My, how life had changed over the course of these last months.
First he got involved with some freedom fighters, who all seemed
to have a loose screw, as they battled a man named Eggman who
looked like Robotnik but wasn't him and managed to spread
chemicals all over the world as a result.
Since then he had gone underground and decided to try to
reintegrate into society. The results hadn't been promising as
it turned out he lacked empathy among other things to function
in this place. It was disheartening but he had decided to endure
and so he stayed. Most of the time was spent practicing trapping
and upgrading them to this new age while modernizing his
equipment. This meant he had learned how to make IEDs and a
particularly nasty trap that involved a block of explosives,
screws and a tripwire. Finally, he had needed a job to function
and break up his day and he had gotten one at the only place
that would take him for what he was, an organization named
"Guardian Units of Nations" or G.U.N for short. They had said he
would fit right in and they would stick to a team when they had
the chance. For now he would be assigned whatever jobs they had
available and today it was a silent one, air spotter. From his
position on top of one of Mobotropolis's tallest building he was
tasked with monitoring the air traffic in his area as it was
called out by the controllers or he spotted it himself. Today it
would be the latter one as he heard a propeller noise and
brought up his binoculars to see what it came from. It was a
small one person flyer, armed to the teeth and damn near
impossible to spot due to its blue color which allowed it to
blend in with the sky. The only thing that gave it away was the
green accents. He wasn't an expert on the subject but he knew
that there were pilots that would love to try such a thing out.
Nevertheless, he would keep his eyes on it and report it if it
got more dangerous. So far he hadn't noticed Veira either as he
had his eyes glued to the plane as well as he could.

Belle really posed no threat as she worked the skies. She did
an observation of the city below her, and the sky around. Radar
picked up the usual traffic, and with her radio, picked up some
traffic inquires. At the sound of minor panic concerning her
plane, Belle came across the open radio frequency. At the
current moment, she was just out testing the balance of her
craft. Yes, she was armed, but her weapons were legal,
licensed, and she would comply with any inspection if she was
       requested to land.
This was freeing for her. She felt a newfound power, control.
Elevation lifted for the plane, testing how high it could go,
comfortably. No clogged roads up here. Nothing but the sound
of her propellers and the wind - a nice change from her
motorbike. Belle breathed calmly through her filtered mask, not
a stranger to the current condition of the polluted city air.

Veira continued to watch the plane as it flew through the sky.
The pilot was pretty good all things considered. She noticed it
was armed to the teeth with weapons but given the fact it wasn't
one of Eggman's ships gave her a bit of reassurance that the
person was mobian. Maybe they were just out testing their
plane.....given her position, she couldn't do much except watch
and wait for the person to land. She didn't know why but Veira
felt like she could learn something from this person. Or at the
very least help out the freedom fighters. She would just have to
wait and see if they would be willing to help out.

It seemed the plane was no threat, just a local taking the bird
       for a flight test.
It eased up the flight control and they merely instructed Petrov
to keep an eye on her. See if there was anything to be noted.
       Open conversation if need be.
The tiger acknowledged and kept his eyes locked on the plane as
well as he could. Trying to track it to it's point of origin,
       then he would follow it.

Almost an hour passes and the plane is giving Belle no problems.
She notes signals in her system, multiple watch towers locking
on to her signal. With a light chuckle, she takes up her comm
       again.
"Really now, got a girl thinkin' she some huge criminal worth
trackin'. Thanks much for the spotlight, all yinz out there.
If any of you are hot studs wanting a date, then that's a good
ol' 10-4 to follow me back, especially if your name is Roger.
Ova'." She cannot help but giggle at that.
She turns her plane about, focused on returning to her personal
landing strip outside her workshop. Small, but just long and
broad enough to bring that prop plane down. She was an hour
out, so it would be an hour back.

Veira hadn't noticed but her comlink was picking up on sounds
from belle's plane. Sounds like she was being watched by someone
other than her. Well that was a surprise. At any rate, Belle
seemed to be heading in another direction, so Veira decided to
follow her where ever she was heading.

True to his orders he started to follow the plane as it started
to head back to base. Not much was said, no need to think. Just
make sure he was discrete and he didn't fall down from the
       roofs.
