King of the Free People, Monkey Khan
Khan is a brown monkey with blue eyes, and around seventeen
years old in age- though a bit older, maybe nineteen or so in
build. He’s been given cybernetic enhancements against his will;
both of his arms and his tail are robotic, and mechanical
implants are visible along his spine. He also has a large number
of his internals replaced by machinery. His normal accessories
are simply a gold band with a red gem on his head and rings on
his ankles. He seems to have worn rings on his wrists as well,
but those became part of his robotic limbs.
Khan is generally formal and polite upon meeting others, and is
very empathetic, with a strong sense of justice. He is also
rather arrogant, though, thinking very highly of himself. He
doesn’t easily accept the views of others, although he is more
willing to compromise with friends. If formality requires it as
well, he will swallow his pride, but with no small amount of
resentment, and he will absolutely remember it. Khan can hold a
vicious grudge when he wants to, and even if you manage to make
him forgive he will never forget. He can make swift judgements
based on his morals, which can be both a blessing and a curse,
and he doesn’t take failure well. He is easily upset by the
suffering of others. Khan demands a certain level of respect,
for himself and the people he considers friends. He was raised
with the ideals that all conflicts can be solved through
communication and reason, but he’s happy to bring things to
blows if a compromise can’t be found quickly enough for his own
liking.
Khan has always been very athletic and from a young age he’s
practiced martial arts and combat with a staff. He’s very hardy,
and after surviving Robotnik’s experiments this has only been
more true. His cybernetics enhance his already notable strength,
and grant several abilities of their own. His claws are very
sharp and can cut through solid rock easily. His tail is able to
straighten and lock into place. His main ability is electricity
and lightning, which he can generate or absorb and use to
attack. His tail is the most effective for this, being able to
hold a high charge that can stun on top of the pain it causes.
His arms can also hold a charge, but not as effectively. His
organic parts are unable to stay charged for more than a second
or two at low voltages, as any longer would become unsafe. Prior
to his legionization, Khan had a natural ability to summon
clouds sturdy enough for him to fly on, an ability which he has
retained. This can also be used more creatively, for things like
creating a temporary barrier or cover. Naturally, his feet are
essentially a second set of hands, and to an extent are more
dexterous than his metal hands. His tail is also prehensile to
some degree.
His martial arts don’t provide as much of an advantage as he
would like, since he practiced using a staff. With the weapon
integrated into his robotics, he’s forced to fight weaponless,
and improvises a lot of unrefined and easily countered moves.
His sharp claws, while great for combat, are very inconvenient
for regular life, and he can be embarrassingly clumsy with his
hands. He is vulnerable to most attacks or abilities that affect
organics or robotics, and even if one half resists the attack
the rest of him will still be damaged. He can be somewhat easily
manipulated if someone plays to his values or pride. He tends to
be too formal for casual settings, and too casual for formal
settings, which- while not necessarily a weakness- tends to
cause him trouble. While he controls electricity, it’s as much a
weakness as a strength, since his body can only handle so much
of it- some parts more than others. If he’s overloaded it can
cause serious damage and put him out of a fight. His natural
abilities also have some drawbacks; because of their connection
to the sky, Khan seems to have the opposite of altitude
sickness, and lower areas can make him somewhat uncomfortable.
As long as he can see the sky, he can ignore this somewhat, but
going underground can easily make him sick and panicked.

[A younger Monkey Khan]
Monkey Khan, formerly Ken Khan, was originally born in Kar Leung
of Chun-nan’s Dragon Kingdom, before he and his family
immigrated to the Acorn Kingdom and settled a small town on the
outskirts called Leung West. His father, Lau Khan, was the
leader of the peaceful village and their clan. Ken was meant to
take over that role if possible, and because of that was taught
a decent amount of political knowledge, and Lau made special
efforts to try and help his temperamental son understand their
peaceful ways. His father’s position, and to an extent his own
skills, also gave Ken a certain pride and expectation for
respect even when he was younger. Because of their peaceful
ways, his people declared neutrality during the Great War.
Near the end of the Great War, Robotnik (still plotting his coup
of the Acorns in their service) began working on using his
robotics to turn mobians into his own soldiers, with Chuck’s
roboticizer having not been completed yet. Needing test subjects
for his prototype, Leung West came to his attention. The town
was at the outskirts, vulnerable, and wouldn’t be missed. The
population was kidnapped, with the attack being quietly written
off as a strike by the enemy, and Robotnik’s experiments began.
Despite his confidence in the prototype, Ken was the only
surviving experiment, thanks to his unusually high strength and
resilience. While he could certainly be considered a success, it
was revealed after a test run that Ken retained his free will,
and Robotnik shut him down and put him in storage, only
occasionally taking him out to refine his desgins. These
experiments pioneered the later Legionization process. Because
of the time spent in what could essentially be called a coma,
Khan is actually a few years older physically than he is
mentally. He isn’t sure how much time he lost, though.
After the war against Robotnik began, Khan was accidentally
released from his prison by Sally Acorn, who he rather quickly
took a shine to. There was some conflict upon gaining his
freedom when it was learned he was created by Robotnik, but it
became clear that Khan hated the doctor with a passion. Sally
convinced him that he could use the powers given to him by
Robotnik for good, and after helping with an attack against
Robotnik, Khan left for Chun-nan. Khan made it his mission to
help his people and protect them from enemies like Robotnik or
the Iron Queen. Because of his actions, Khan eventually gained
the title of “King of the Free People.” Not only is he the
leader of what could be considered his country’s Freedom
Fighters, but the leader of the Dragon Kingdom in general.
