F,uck SEGA We are the Future!
By: Sonic Date: January 27, 2016, 3:40 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Hello friends and fellow Sonic fans.Sonic The Hedgehog a
legendary franchise with one of gaming’s most iconic characters
at its helm. We don’t need sing Sega’s praises as the entire
series on the Mega drive and SEGA CD and Nintendo handhelds are
stellar Sonic games. However in recent years a vast majority
Sonic titles have been received poorly by the gaming public and
have even become the subject of ridicule. To be honest you can
you blame them? With the mediocre gameplay sloppy story and
asinine plot points and plodding pace. With the disastrous
launch of Sonic Boom and the title now referred to, as Sonic 06
the blue hedgehog needs a breath of fresh air to bring life into
the downwards spiral that started. Sonic games have the
potential to tell solid stories. The proof of this is in the
Archie comics, which is currently the longest running video game
comic, based off a video game character so you know it’s good.
These books carried on the spirit of the early 90’s Sonic SATAM
series which in my opinion was the best Sonic story ever told,
It was dark humorous had a colorful cast with deep development
and Sonic’s friends played a vital role in his success against
Dr. Robotnik’s evil schemes to destroy the freedom fighters.
So what can we do? We'll I'll tell you you're capable of much
more than you think you are. So Many of you know me as Bolt or
Sonic what can I say? I like speedsters however for the purposes
of this post I'll introduce myself formally as Andrew Roby I've
recently graduated with a bachelor of interactive entertainment
(major in games design) . So I've had an idea this morning while
I was staring at another meme post from the Sonic Facebook page
when it hit me. It's sad when a gaming icon who once stood on
equal footing with Mario has become a joke. However this forum
is a living example that quality can be dragged out of the Sonic
series. So here's my idea I want create a 10-20 minute concept
video, pitching a game idea to SEGA of America. The video will
       cover the following topics.
       Story Writers!
I'll need other writers to help me flesh out a brief plot and
       the world surrounding it.
(Shoot the s,hit about a great story and help us create a brief
outline for the world and plot)
       Gameplay Ideas People!
I'll need people with ideas to add to the speed based experience
Sonic offers by explaining levels and gameplay mechanics in the
       video.
(Who doesn't love talking about what if video game scenarios
       you've made up?)
       Characters Artists!
I'll need artists to lend their talent to create visual aids and
characters designs to show SEGA we mean business.
(Get creative! Use your original characters art as the extended
cast and get your work seen.)
       Important!
To be perfectly clear we are not creating a game! We are
creating a concept of a game and putting the basics into a pitch
video. This means we don't have to put hundreds of ungodly hours
into a project for it to get shot down by a big company. This is
a small video that shouldn't take longer than two weeks to
achieve. I run a gaming YouTube channel so I have experience
with editing scripting and voice over so I'll be happy to take
care of those parts unless somebody else would like to to.
Down to the Pros and Cons. I'll be breaking this down to three
       levels from best to worst.
       1. Best we get hired by SEGA and get given a greenlight to
       create something special.
       2. SEGA shows no interest but the video gains popularity and
those involved in the project get their names noticed
       3. The video is a flop and we wasted a few hours but we had fun
       :D
Everybody who helped with the project in anyway no matter how
small will have their names displayed along with a link to their
Youtube,DA or other site of their choice. Skype will be the main
tool of communication while we throw around ideas and script the
video. I think we can collaborate to make the nucleus of what
could be a very special game. To make it a serious killer pitch
I think we should come up with a catchy name like Sonic
Spotlight or Sonic Skyline along with a mock up of what the box
       art would look like.
So interested? Think you've got something to offer? Throw a post
       below.

       references and backgrounds!

As I work on more and more art based on this forum, I'll do a
few Sonic characters to throw in there, too. :)
No problem lending my hand to some concepts in my head as they
       come out.

Sonic Mania has proven that Sega is willing to let the fans do
great work, and with it's massive success I think similar
projects might be green-lit if the quality is good enough. I'm a
writer by trade, and I have been developing a plot for a
potential Sonic Adventure 3, it's my dream job to bring my
creative input to a sonic game, and I hope you will consider me.
If it was to be a Sonic Adventure type story it would contain 5
or 6 characters that experience the same story in different ways
and go through their own story arc. I do love rashomon plots, as
they can really help put you in the perspective of a character
and help you understand their view of the world. I also love the
game-play style of Adventure, and think it deserves another shot
to perfect it and iron out the jank.

Oh well, guess this project's dead in the water...
I will still never give up on my dream!
