Re: Wandering the Wilderness

Belle looked to her side as Warren came up along. No rush came,
however. The grey lapine was all too interested in them.
Smile-Frown had questions, and started a conversation.
"Well then, if we're going to be all friendly-like...." She
spoke with a blunt tone, "How's about I get a triple of sweet
cactus juice, some more fried yucca, and we take this out on the
front porch?" This would get them outside, in the open, and not
cornered.
Eyes slipped back to Miss May, a single, slow nod given. This
would give the staff a chance to take cover if things turned
worse, and at the same time provide a small snack for the trio
if things remained peaceful. Belle waved at the two rabbits, an
invite to follow. "I know ya'll said yinz are tired," said to
Smile-Frown, "but come on out for a chit-chat. I got some
things to say about myself for you, if you're willing to listen
while I have a smoke."
Her eyes then gave glance to Warren. "Sounds good, right?" She
nodded her head enthusiastically with the hope that Warren would
understand. Belle made her way to the front porch of the
tavern, fetched a cigarette from her satchel, gave it a light,
and took a slow long draw - even if nobody followed. What a
stressful day.

The grey hare turned his gaze full time to Warren as he was
asked to explain himself, conscious of the other rabbit looking
him over which was making him wary. His tired eyes swung around
to Belle as she proposed they take the conversation outside
before he pointed his left hand towards the door, the assortment
of metal buckles dangling from the end of his sleeve jingling
softly with his movement. "She's right, let's take this
conversation outside from prying ears." he stated flatly as he
followed the monkey to the porch. He settled about a body's
width and a half from Belle's right, waiting for Warren to join
before he spoke once more. "I mean exactly what I say. This is
an opportunity." the rabbit began, the gentle afternoon breeze
softly slipping through his bangs as he looked out onto the
landscape, staring out towards the long tail of smoke that
slowly spread and faded through the sky.
"I imagine you all are looking for ways to strike back at
Robotnik, or Eggman as this incarnation seems to favor..." a
slow snarl momentarily formed on his lips before fading out with
a short outward breath. "I could offer my hand in helping you on
one very simple condition." The grey rabbit turned his face to
the others as his bangs blocked the oncoming light of the
setting sun, his face blanketed in shadows, all but that single
pink iris visible as his eye opened up slightly wider, his pupil
dilating in an almost cat-like manner before his words came out
clear and steady... "I end the Robotnik legacy once and for
all." his tone was laced with killer intent, but delivered with
calm premeditated composure.

Warren followed behind, leaning against one of the posts as he
listened to the stranger. He had been cautious at first but
years of performing had attuned him to pick up on other people's
'stage faces'. There was genuine hatred behind gray rabbit's
words towards the tyrant. "Get in line, darling." he flipped his
bangs, relaxing a bit around the other lapine. "In my line of
work, I am used to working with other people, but there is
usually an element of trust involved when executing something of
this magnitude. Do you follow?" He tilted his head to the side,
he glanced at Belle, wondering if she would get in on this
action as well. If not, he'd wish her the best of luck; his
mission took priority over making new friends.

Happy with the other two out on the porch, Belle listened in to
the rabbits. After a ring of smoke passed from her lips, she
glanced at them both.
"I think that you're mistaken, Mr. Grey," directed to
Smile-Frown. "What is your name anyway? Mine's Belle..." She
waited for his response, and nodded. "Ah...ha." She leaned her
bosom against the banister of the porch and propped her body
upon elbows. Another long drag pulled from the cigarette, the
smoke curled from her nose on exhale. "Eggman will meet me one
day, but I am in no rush to go seek out his head. Iffins yinz
both want to seek out trouble, I can possibly get you in arm
reach, but I'm not headed in any particular direction. I got no
interest, and have my own goals." She flicked ash from her
cigarette.
Miss May came out with the three glasses of cactus juice, and
the yucca fries with spicy, creamy dip for them. Belle paid in
full, at that time, and nodded the nanny goat on her way with
thanks.
"Yinz two help yourself to those yucca fries. A good snack
brings folk together," With that, she lifted her cup of juice
and sipped on it.

The rabbit looked down to his feet, he'd clearly made a
miscalculation in his offer. He came on too directly, so eager
to get his revenge and he hadn't so much as uttered his name. He
crossed his arms carefully over his chest, the soft jingle of
his buckles sounding off as his arms came to a stop. He leaned
to his right against the banister of the porch, his left leg
crossing his right as he bent it at the knee and placed the toe
of his boot down. "Forgive my haste. I haven't had the chance to
make a practical comeback since I escaped capture." he replied,
unfolding his left arm, bent at the elbow with his palm open to
his current company. "If trust is what I must earn, then I'll
help you however you allow me, so long as my deal remains." he
added, lifting his head up as those pink eyes searched the other
two's faces for responses. His own expression however froze as
Belle referred to him as "Mr. Grey". His mouth ever so slightly
agape for a moment before he managed to slowly peel what looked
almost like horror off of his expression.
"I don't want to hear that name ever again." he said at almost a
whisper, "My name is Frown." Was he serious? In any case the
rabbit carefully took a yucca fry and slid it into his mouth,
effectively silencing himself while he chewed and waited for the
replies of the others. He seemed like he was down for talking
business so long as he had his guns pointed at Eggman, which was
always a plus.

Warren watched the other rabbit and his body language. For what
was probably just humility, Warren took it as the other being
timid, it was kind of cute. The rabbit shook his head as he
listened, taking a yucca fry and nibbled on the end. He nodded
in acceptance to the gray rabbit's chance of earning his trust,
as the albino one would like to give it. "I'm sure we can work
something out."
When the matter of the names came up, he raised an eyebrow at
the other male's name. 'Frown? What kind of name was that?'
Warren shrugged and introduced himself. "I am Warren Lapin."
There had been a slight hesitation as he almost used his real
name, but he managed to stop himself. "I too, have a bone to
pick with the doctor... as well as a leather clad boot to shove
up his a**." He growled the last part under his breath and shook
his head. "But there are things I need to do before that
happens, places to go, people to find." He was being vague, and
with good reason.

Frown, as he came to be known, struck Belle as the type of young
man who was in the need of guidance. She could not say much,
especially as Frown mentioned being captured. Stoic nod offered
up to Frown's request that Mr. Grey not be used again. No
guilt, no upset, she simply accepted his request with respect.
"Escape? Sugar, do you need some fresh cloth-..." A pause when
she remembered how much cash the rabbit has given to Miss May,
"Rather, why haven't you got yourself some new slacks?" Shrug
of her shoulders, and shake of her head, she offered a passive
dismissal with her hand. "Sorry I asked, sugar. You wear what
you like. Just pains me that you wear something like that to
remind you - or is that exactly why?"
Belle was happy to see the two of them eating, and she took seat
upon porch swing after proper disposal of her finished
cigarette. She blew out one final line of smoke and leaned
back, arms sprawled over the back of that hanging bench.
"Iffins you're looking to just be around somebody because yinz
are lonely, then I've no qualms about it, Frown. Keep yer
trouble out of my trouble, and we'll be fine." A solid laugh
came from her as Warren mentioned kicking Eggman 'where the sun
don't shine.' "You got spunk there, Warren, be careful handling
it."

Frown nodded once to Warren, that tired and stone expression had
returned to his face as he looked out towards the direction of
the site of the crash that had yet to be explored, it certainly
had his curiosity, but he had priorities. "Just tell me were to
point my guns, and I'll show what I've got to offer." he said as
he tugged one of his pistols free with his right hand, his
finger slipping into the loop of the trigger guard as he quickly
and smoothly twirled it in rapid cycles towards himself before
flinging it off of his finger and thrusting his left hand out to
catch the weapon, his fingers wrapping around the grip as he
caught it in perfect time, quickly spinning it away from himself
now before closing his hand once more and extending his arm
fully, his finger squeezing the trigger as the gun let out an
empty but slightly alarming *Clank!* as the slide locked back.
It hadn't been loaded. Finally he tapped the slide release with
his thumb as the top half of the weapon locked back into place
with a shrill metal hiss and a blunt *clunk* before spinning it
backwards once more, catching it by the barrel and tucking it
away with its matching partner again, giving the strap on his
chest that was holding the weapons a quick tug to make sure they
stayed put, causing his outfit to jingle once more.
"I'll keep my ties loose, but if you're offering to get me were
I want, I want in on it. I'm not in any rush, as long as I get
there." he answered, pausing slightly before adding "You could
say that I need a constant reminder. Lest some other part of me
forgets..." Frown's face darkened after saying that. He took
another fry and started to pass it between his fingers almost
like a coin as he wrapped up his thoughts "I just need to know
you both won't vanish before sunrise." he mentioned. He did pay
for a room after all, and with that said he swung the fry back
around to his forefinger and thumb before sticking it in his
mouth.

Warren took another yucca and tried it with the dip as he
watched the gun display. It was impressive, though he himself
didn't use those kinds of weapons, he could appreciate talent.
He replied. "I'm not leaving this town till I rest for the
night, but I plan to leave tomorrow morning, as soon as
possible." He looked towards the direction of the meteor crash
and then turned to Belle. "Would you like to still check out
that meteor?"

What a gun display! Belle applauded. "You have skilled hands
there, Frown. Glad t'see I'm not the only one quick on the
draw." She patted the holsters at the top of her boots with a
grin. "You should teach me some of those fancy finger tricks.
Both of us would benefit in the end." Belle then gestured to
her motorcycle. "I'd need ta hook up a side buggy to that real
quick, but sure I can find something to make a bucket seat outta
for the two of yinz - or borrow somebody's old jalopy for a
quick trip into the desert. Heck, could hitch a wagon to the
back of that bike. Yeah, I'll think I'll do that." She grinned
to Warren. "Still going out."
Once the group had their fill of food and drink, Belle smiled to
Frown, "Naw, not gonna disappear before morning. Once we get a
look out there, we'll come right back and get our rest.
Alrigh'?"
