Cold air quarry.
DIR By: Sacha Breznyev
Date: January 18, 2016, 1:39 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
It was very early at the morning just before dawn. Hiding in
the darkest part of the forest. He had his traps setted for his
catch of the day. He had followed a stag for several minutes now
and kept starring at his quarry. Slowing his breathing and
readying an arrow to deliver a very vicious shot to the noble
animal eating peacefully the greenest patch of grass.
The prey was munching it slowly totally unaware of his predator
aiming an arrow at him. The sunlight slowly pierced trough the
veil of the night casting away the darkness. The very second the
light touched the point of the arrow. He release it with a
deadly precision and it flew right trough the animal's skull
nailing it against a very old Oak tree.
In an instant an innocent animal died in fraction of a second.
The hunter came out of his hiding spot and walked to his now
dead quarry and pulled the arrow out of the dead creature's
skull and snaped it in half and recited a prayer for the life he
had just taken and thanked the spirits for the catch. A cracking
noise could be heard in the wood and the wolf jumped backward to
avoid another arrow coming at his direction.
He pulled his axe out and threw it with all of his brute
strenght taking down a tree on its way. A second arrow flew in
his general direction and deflected with his reinforced cloak.
Then he suddently spotted the archer who just happened to shoot
it. It was another hunter, not of the Dire cast. Nor does he
fitted the profile.
The Dire wolf growled at the hunter and threw him a stern gaze.
The other hunter readied another arrow and Sacha noticed
something strange about him. It was a stranger, and as his
status and grade required he had to get rid of the stranger
without harming him unless he had no other choice.
He pulled out his sabers and ran toward the other hunter trying
to avoid the arrows of the smaller hunter. After a few seconds
he dodged to the right and rolled behind the smaller creature
before grabbing his arm and neck.
He had him in a very tight lock and smelled him. He would
remember that smell forever and whispered to him.
-" Leave this territory and never return or you will never see
the light of the sun ever again" - The other hunter's heart
began to race and the stress ran trough him. The air became dry
and cold and the dire wolf was very scary to him. He finally
released him and walked back to his axe he retrieved. Suddently
a pinching sensation into his left shoulder blade.
He recieved an arrow to the back. The point passed trough the
reinforced cloak and got stucked in the bone.
He had given a chance to this small stranger and now he was
furious and he threw his axe right at him lodging the blade in
the smaller one's shoulder pinning him against a tree. He slowly
walked up to him and conjured an icy arrow.
-" You asked for it." -
These were the last words his opponent now prey heard ever again
before being frozen solid. The dire wolf exhaled a sigh and
grabbed his dead stag and returned to his shack in the wood to
skin his catch and eat it alone.

Veira had quite a bit swimming through her mind right now. As
she walked through the dense forest, her ears picked up on
something not to far from her current position. Deciding to take
a look, she happen to observe a small and quick fight tht took
place. She tensed up slightly as she watched the large wolf
freeze the other hunter with some form of magic. After he left,
she made her way over to the frozen hunter. Taking a look at the
hunter, she figured he was still alive or so she hoped.
Taking a second as her hand glowed blue, she placed her hand on
the icy surface trying to melt the icy rather than shatter it
with her fist. Once the ice melted, she checked for any signs of
the hunter being serious hurt besides the shoulder wound.
"Hey you okay?" she asked trying to see if the hunter could
respond.

After he suspended his big stag from the ceiling and slashed
open the belly of the stag to collects its insides he caught a
smell. The intruder had been helped out of his icy situation. He
letted out a sigh and jumped out of the shack to track back the
creature he left wounded and a new smell tickled his nose.
Another stranger was close to the village.
He snuck up in the bushed and underwoods slowly. No weapon drawn
this time. He would observe the trespasser. So far he didn't
pick any sign of aggressivity and remained hidden. He did not
wanted to startle the new trespasser. He remained crouched
covered in natural features like braches , dirt and leaves.
His cold eyes noticed to ressemblance in between the two. One
was a hunter from a different clan and the other haad something
very different about her. He could not pinpoint what but there
she was not from around. Sacha concluded that it could be a
stranger from a modern society and wouldn't be a threat for him.
Modern folks weren't hunters or so he heard.
After a minute of observation and thinking he stood up from his
seven feet stature and cracked his shoulders and neck and slowly
approached the two others carefully. The other hunter wouldn't
be much of a threat with his wound and the other did not seem
offensive much.Without a word and stood there starring ears up
ready to listen.

Veira had study the hunter's wound and realized he wasn't going
to be moving anytime soon. Doing her best she tried to patch it
as best as she could before the presence of someone else filled
the air. Taking a moment she stood up and turned to phase the
person. When she turned around, the wolf before her surprised
her a little bit but her face remained unfazed for a bit.
Looking between the large wolf and the hunter she started to
wonder was he the cause for the hunter's injury.
"I take it your the one who did this.? " she asked as she
slightly crossed her arms looking up to the wolf.

Valentine had just brewed her finest soups , jams and potions
and it was her turn to deliver to the hunter at the head of the
pack. Thinking he might lighten up and maybe like something
different for a change. She packed her basket with jars and
vials and putted on her warm cloak and apron before leaving. Her
familiar flyed up and went through the window before his
mistress passed the threshold of her door . - Are you going to
engage a conversation with him this time?-He said cackling.
Knowing his mistress would threaten him to turn him into a frog.
Although she was too nervous to pay attention to the bird's
mockery. Her basket felt heavy and the cold forest wasn't her
favorite terrain. The mere idea of leaving the village scared
her. But it was her turn to deliver the goods to him and when
she walked out of the village the bird flew higher observing
around sending magically to her his impressions of the dense
forest.
- If you don't walk faster he will kill something else , eheh -
Valentine heard some strange noises not to far and ran to the
shack in the wood and climbed the huge tree to leave the basket
on the bloody floor. She grimaced at the grim sight of the poor
stag and the crow plucked put an eye of the stag and swallowed
it right away.
-Hunters have the best food around i'd say but where is that
brute could be ?-
-You know for once i have to agree with you Poe..- she responded
to the bird who seemed surprised that she used his name for once
instead of growling and glaring at him.
- You know? i will go look for him while you oh i don't know
cook something for your brute wolf friend or whatever of
yours..-
And he took flight to locate the wolf and after a while landed
in a nearby tree and carefully observed a silently listened and
judged the grim scenery with the wounded hunter , the female
from the other day and the Apex Predator. He tought to himself
"well that can't be good" and sent a mental image to his
mistress who dropped everything she was doing so she was
surprised.

The tall ebon wolf nodded and looked down at the wounded one and
his ears twiched at the bird's arrival. He kept starring at the
two smaller one and sighed. He knew that the bird's presenced
meant a witch was prying on him. Which remembered him that it
was the delivery day when he recieved goods and expressed a
grimace.
He pointed the small ones and expressed them to leave with a
gesture even if he felt it wouldn't make anyone obey to the
command and sat down on a tree trunk and pulled out a knife and
grabbed and piece of wood and started sculpting it. A familiar
was prying on him... he did not like the situation nor does he
wanted to confront a witch without a motive and prying wasn't a
good one. He was now in between two fires. Start a fight with
the other stranger or simply letting them go. Perfectly knowing
that the witch could intervene anytime even if it was his
responsability to watch the borders..

Veira simply stood her ground as she continued to stare at the
large wolf. That was the second time she was asked to leave the
forest. She also took note of the crow from last night. No doubt
that meant the girl from before was somewhere close by. "That's
the second time I was asked to leave. I want to know why." Veira
responded in a clam manner.

Valentine left the shack as fast as she could. who knows how he
might react this time. She left everything and climbed down the
tree and ran trough the forest worried. No innocents , even a
stranger one should be harmed. Meanwhile Poe kept observing the
scene and spoke a few words to her.
-Leave and return nevermore - And bursted out of laugher...That
bewitched bird couldn't be serious for a instant now that he
could openly speak to the stranger a d that as a familiar of a
sane witch no hunters would dare harm him in anyway.
The vixen ran out of breath as she arrived. She was completely
exhausted , panting and sweaty from the running with the cold
weather. The clouds forming in the sky were worrying her that a
storm could be coming. She tried to exhale a word but she was
still out of breath..
On the other hand Poe felt chatty as usual and looking down at
them with the intense and awkward silence was amusing him. -
Allow me to break the silence by saying this place is sacred to
them. That's why outsiders aren't very appreciated-
Then he jumped from his branch and flew to his mistress's
shoulder and landed there to wait for the others reactions.

The tall jet black wolf looked up to her and planted his knife
in the trunk he was sitting on and looked at the vixen with a
stern gaze. The fact that a conversation was happening began to
infuriate him and placed his hand on the axe's handle firmly
grasping the shaft. He was ready to use it at any moment.
He sighed and decided to speak.-" This forest is protected by
ancient spirits and traditions that kept it safe from intruders
and this means you. Anyway why you come here...What is your deal
with us..?"-
It was the first time in a while he would speak this much in
presence of a stranger. The smell of blood from the wounded one
was enticing enough to set fire to his moods. On the other hand
he could simply force them out or force the witch to ask the
elders to grant the witch a permission
since it was the second time this stranger came here.
It was against his very beliefs but his oath prevented him to
kill strangers on sight.

Veira watched him make a move for his axe even if it was
slightly, her markings slowly appered before vanishing as she
shook her head. She wasn't trying to be hostile here. "Look I
have reasons for passing by. You can't simply block of an area
you claim is yours due to tradition. I'm not trying to sound
rude but you make it sound like you have something to hide. Her
being a witch with her odd potion and you....well your the first
wolf I have seen this big...besides myself." she muttered to
herself.
