Dress For Success

Alarm bells rang as a group of thieves broke into a dress and
jewelery in an upper class part of town. Well dressed young
women rushed around grabbing everything they could off the
racks. The gangs leader was a lovely lady by the name of Ember.
She had long pink hair curled in an elegant updo. A shimmering
silver tiara encrusted with pink diamonds lay atop her head
keeping her hair in place. She wore a long flowing dress that
blew lightly behind her as she walked. She approached the
diamond display and her eyes lit up. "Oh what decadent diamonds.
Sitting all alone behind that nasty glass. Gems of your beauty
should be shared with the world. Mummy will wear you." She said
talking to the glassy stones as if they were alive. She held out
her finger and flames flickered on and off like a lighter would.
Soon a wave of pink fire washed over the glass melting it away.
Ember reached in to claim her prize looking over the priceless
stones as her minions gathered high end fashion items.

The alarm bells where enough of an alert to catch the attention
of a small and rather speedy young blue hedgehog, and no that
hedgehog wasn't Sonic, you're close though. The soft but fast
pitter patter of boots would sound with each step she took to
get herself to the location of the alarms, she skidded when
reaching the entrance of the dress and jewellers storem putting
a hand to the ground to help herself safely come to a stop,
afterwards which she stood back up and observed the situation.
Her bright cyan eyes went to the lady with the long pink hair,
whom appeared to have her eyes on a rather expensive looking
diamond. "HEY!" Sapphire shouted out to catch the thieves
attention. Once she had, or if they didn't look at all, she'd
still continue. This was someone's only way perhaps of earing
money for their family, no way was she letting them get away
with it all for free.
"I know they're pretty, guys, but if they're not in your budget,
maybe check a section of jewellery that is? No use tempting
yourself with something you can't afford at the moment, better
yet, why not save up for it? If you want it so bad?" She was
really hoping this wouldn't turn nasty and that her words would
be enough to convince them otherwise of their choices.

Ember looked the blue teen up and down trying to make heads or
tails of the situation. "Are you trying to arrest us? You think
you're Sonic or something? Newsflash darling he's long gone.
Which means my girls and I are free to shop wherever we want."
Ember's minions all placed one hand on their hips while snapping
their fingers. Ember walked over to Sapphire looking down upon
the young girl. "You seem like a nice girl so I'll say this real
slow so you can understand. I am a very bad woman. You don't
want to get in my way child. So just turn around and head on
over to the toy store down the street." She made a shoo motion
with her hands. "Go on shoo."

Sapphire put both hands on her own hips and just raised an
unimpressed eyebrow as Ember wandered over to her, speaking down
to her as if she where a child. "Oh I've already been to the toy
store, see I got this, I reckon you'd like it actually, it's
pretty flashy, see look-" She clicked her fingers and her large
piko hammer appeared in her hands, indeed it would be rather
'flashy', it was big, cyan mostly in colour and had the colours
of the seven chaos emeralds displayed across it as well, chaos
emeralds, a gem surely that was known amoungst these thieves.
She gripped it tightly and glanced it up and down before looking
to Ember, "If you like flashy things and gem stones, you shoulda
gone to the toy store yourself really, what a shame they're out
of stock. This was the only one and it's made of a lot more then
mere plastic, would you like to hold it? Here. Catch" Sapphire
said before she lightly tossed the large magic hammer to Ember.
Who, being a mobian with no Piko Magic. Would not be able to
hold the hammer up, if she didn't move before the hammer reached
her, the weight of it was likely to drop her to the floor, and
since Sapphire tossed it to her, possibly pin her as well.

About to reply to Sapphire's sentence Ember was caught off-Guard
when the hammer was thrust into her hands. It fumbled through
her fingers as it was far too heavy for her to handle. The
hammer fell smashing Ember's foot causing her a great deal of
pain. All her gangsters gasped looking to their boss in unison.
Ember closed her eyes and took a deep breath controlling her
anger and pain. She cleared her throat and spoke in a sweet
voice. "I can assure you child I am in a lot of pain. However
it's unladylike to scream and carry on about bumps and bruises."
She snapped her fingers and her minions grabbed what they could
and left the store. After a few moments of deep breathing Ember
opened her eyes. It was only her and Sapphire now as Embers'
forces made their get away. "I fear you've broken my foot. I
won't be able to walk in heels for at least a month. Horrid
child I'll give you the discipline you are so sorely lacking."
With that Ember stretched her fingers and a massive inferno of
pink flames engulfed the entire store. With the store around
them burning Ember made movements with her hands and the flames
leap forward chasing Sapphire.

Sapphire gasped as well and covered her mouth before holding up
a hand "Oh I'm so sorry! I thought you being older then me and
all, could hold a mere hammer I got from the toy store" She said
with a sad pout and an innocent kind of look, putting her arms
behind her back. He hedgehog looked and tried to take note of
Ember's goons to where they took their exit, she'd rally them up
later, for now she needed to deal with their boss here.
Sapphire picked up her hammer and hugged it before swaying
slightly as Ember spoke to her, the lady's mistake was to talk
to her as if she where a child in the mocking way she was.
The blue hedgehog jolted back slightly as the flames came into
play, her eyes went wide as the store was engulfed in flames
that reflected in her eyes. She put on a frown and looked back
at Ember, playing with fire will only get you burnt.
Sapphire revved her feet, trying to kick up some wind to push
back the flames as well as out run the flames Ember had dancing
after her, she did a few loops around Ember before heading
straight for her and jumping over her head, tapping the top of
it to not only ruin her gorgeous hairstyle, but to pinch her
beloved tiara, if successful, she'd then place it on her own
head to push at Ember's apparent ego. "Lookit meeee! I'm the
pretty princess now!" She teases, blowing a raspberry with her
tongue at Ember as she zipped this way and that to avoid the
flames, but she had to admit, it was getting rather hot and
those flames did not look friendly, even when pink. "Fry me and
you'll melt your petty crown, return what you stole though and
I'll hand it back"

Ember's hands quickly moved to hair trying to hold in it place.
As it unfurled and fell down Ember looked somehow even more
enchanting than she had before. She smiled looking at her
reflection in the broken glass clearly pleased with herself.
"Well a girls gotta let her hair down sometimes." She told
Sapphire giving a pleasant pose. She quickly ran her fingers
through her hair pushing it back her smile fading when she
couldn't feel her crown. She looked up alarmed placing the
diamonds down on the counter holding her hands up. "Easy now
dear. That crown was my mother's. It's priceless and the only
thing on this earth I have to remember her by. If you so much as
scratch it I promise you I'll make your life a burning hell."
She said as the fires raged behind her. "TAKE IT OFF!" She
shouted as Sapphire egged her on. The flames matched her
emotions turning from a pastel pink to a roaring red.

"I bet you where a special princess to her huh?" Sapphire said
rather softly after coming to a stop in front of Ember, she took
the tiara off and carefully held it in her hands, looking up at
Ember, her now roaring red flames reflecting in Sapphire's
bright cyan eyes. "What would your mother say to you if she saw
you stealing all those things that you have? Would she be proud?
You want to make her proud don't you? Happy at least? " She
gripped the tiara tighter and wore a rather sad look as she
looked up at the older girl in front of her, "I'm sorry for
taking your mother's priceless tiara, your hair looks nice out
like that by the way" She leaned up and placed the tiara back on
Ember's head carefully before taking a step back to be in front
of her "All those things that you've stolen though... They could
become another person's priceless passed down gift from their
mother's too you know, do you want to take away someone else's
precious tiara? Remember how it made you feel when I took it"
She then smiled and out her arms behind her back, "You know,
you're very very pretty, are you on magazine covers? A famous
actress maybe? If you're not you could win the show if you
applied to be, that would for sure give you what you need to get
more pretty gems for yourself, and your friends" She gave a nod
and tried to ignore the harsh red flames nearby, "You'd also
have millions of people telling you how pretty you are, that's
nice isn't it? That's something your mother would be proud
about, right?"

Ember looked up and her smile returned as the flames faded out
to pink and finally faded away. She took a deep breath placed
her hand over her earpiece. "Abort bring back all the
merchandise." Within moments her gang came back dropping off the
clothing. Ember placed her arm around Sapphire and looked to
towards her. "You know you remind me of a pink hedgehog I met in
a flower arranging class. A miss Rose I believe. Do you know
her?"

At that moment she pushed Sapphire away placing her fingers
against her own lips. She waved her hand away breathing fire
into the air. Soon the entire shop was up in flames again. "Your
just as kind hearted and weak as she is." The gangsters held
Sapphire down using the numbers of four against one to overpower
her. "That was a touching speech but you've over looked a few
flaws. One everything here is for sale none of it is priceless
to it's owner. Second I'm already on magazine covers and TV
shows. I own a cosmetic fashion company. I steal for the thrill
some things money just can't buy and lastly my dear my mother
was a master thief so yes she would be proud. Who do you think
taught me?" Ember chained Sapphire to the counter with a pair of
metal handcuffs covered in a pink fluffy material. Ember and her
people left but not before she gave a huge smile. "Looks like
you won hero. You recovered all the stolen items. Only fitting
you stay here and burn with it." With that she slammed the door
shut locking it from the outside.
